The Game but not The Game
Terry has done it again. I started reading this book and figured I would read it when I had a few minutes here and there. Instead, I'm writing this review at 5am after starting up all night to see what happened next in the book. If you're a fan of The Game (or any other books by Terry), you'll enjoy this.

HOW DOES HE DO IT!?!?!
I've been a fan of Terry Schott ever since I happened upon the The Game. I was so awed by his imagination and ability to bring the fantasticical into a believable reality. His writing always makes me think and reflect, yet be completly entertained at the same time.
The Ward is no exception to this rule... I was totally engrossed from the first chapter. By chapter 15 I was thinking to myself, "I have no clue where this is going, and yet I can't wait to find out!" I kept reading till 3:00am, and was desperately fighting off sleep to keep turning pages - wanting to know what happends next.
What I love is that Terry writes in such a way that you don't know what journey you're on; I gave up trying to anticipate the direction the story was going, because what I would come up with in my head was always wrong and never as good as the direction Terry's story took.
If you enjoy great dialogue, real characters, and a book that makes you stop and go, "wait.. what?" - in the best way, then pick up The Ward (or any Terry Schott book for that matter...)!

I have to comment on how you're never quite sure who the "bad guy" is... so many times I was flipping back and forth about Alex's motives and character. He would seem to be this wise guide and benefactor one moment, then commit some heinous act or force some seemingly evil thing to happen the next; only to flip back to saviour of mankind again - over and over. It kept me guessing and intrigued I still want to know why him and Gudrun are at odds, and who I should be rooting for... I know the answers will come as the series unfolds, but it's killing me in the best way to find out what their rival means to the criss at hand.

Always on the verge of giving up on this book
Always just about the time I was getting tired of the cat and mouse games going on, The author throws in a bit of information that is intriguing enough to keep reading. None of the characters are likable, and I still don’t know who to root for because none are “good guys“. So potluck on this one. The editing is decent, at least I can say that. And there’s not a giant data dump we learn a little less we go, but still it seem to drag on and on. Not sure I’ll go for the second installment.

It's not too often that I give up sleep for reading a book but The Ward did it. I really don't know quite how to categorize this book. All at once it's a sci-fi story, wrapped in a mystery, with a coating with time travel...or I think it is. Then there's the ending and that's all I'll say about that.
Given that there are two more books in the series, I think I'll be very tired by the time I get to final conclusion.

Book one of The Advent Trilogy is spellbinding. I was hooked from the first page as it just continued to build the story, the mystery and the intrigue. When I came to the final page of Book one I could barely wait to get book two to see what happens next. The writing is excellent and the storyline is very unique.

I have the trilogy box set and book one is a brilliant start to this mysterious story, which is similar to The Game is Life series, yet has its differences.
The multiple characters are as intriguing as the plot and the writing style is easy to read - loved it all.
There are numerous questions and some are answered, compelling us to read on.
Highly recommended.

Intriguing
Five stars, I was kept engaged and guessing the entire time. I was surprised by everything that happened and still have tons off questions. Going to start book 2 now.

I loved the Games Series and this ranks right up there with them. I Truly enjoyed reading Terry Schotts books!

The game type of book. A wonderful gripping adventure I had trouble putting down and I only did because of work and other life events.

A Good Story in the Same Vein as "The Game Is Life"
I read and thoroughly enjoyed "The Game Is Life" series. While the concept is similar, "the WARD" storyline is different but equally engrossing. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
