The Possessive Convict

Rate this book
Sergei’s an escaped convict. Nia’s a flower shop girl.

Their worlds should’ve never connected, instead, it collided. She’s a good girl, innocent and void of stains—he’s attracted to that decadence.

She leads a simple life, one that he had rudely disrupted with his icy blue eyes and warping commands. Nia fought the attraction for the dying man, but the hostile fondness in his gaze lured her into his sweet snare.

Each hesitant step turned bold strides into a side that she discovered about her.

He taints her with doting antagonism and motivated manipulation.

Nia never stood a chance.

Now, this had one of the best H's bc he was so possessive and obsessed with the h. However, what elevated this story was that he was probably the evilest H I have ever come across and he didn't for a second change. In fact, by the end he was just as dangerous and cruel as the beginning of the story. His only weakness was the h and he never mistreats her. I really liked the h bc she was very innocent and her fear of the H didn't automatically turn into lust. This is such an impressive author and I will definitely be reading more of her work.

I actually really liked this book. It was dark, sweet, with two likeable protagonists. I had seen this book when looking at this author. I had read another book of her’s before this one, called ‘Dirty Psychopath’. I didn’t like that one as much due to how unrealistic it was, so I didn’t come into this book with high expectations. Though I found myself liking it a lot, borderline loving it.

The H, Sergei, is a convict who’s escaped prison and uses our h’s, Nia, flower shop as a hideout after threatening her. She doesn’t resist too much, and they begin to fall for each other. Sergei protects Nia a lot, and seems to guard her through his protectiveness, even going to lengths such as murder to keep her safe.

So the main thing I liked about this book was how much Sergei loved Nia. Nia loved him as well, though I want to focus on Sergei. This is because in Dirty Psychopath (DP), John (H) seemed more possessive, and didn’t seem to care about h as much. He saw her more as an object, even claiming that he wasn’t able to love her, despite marrying her and having a kid later. They just didn’t connect, and that’s what I like about this book. You can genuinely tell how much H appreciates h, and cares for her through his actions. Doesn’t force her into things, and let’s her take her time. He’s still pretty toxic, though in a respectable book bf way.

Another small thing that I liked was that they didn’t have a kid in their epilogue. It was realistic being that he was a criminal on the run. John (DP - Ik how wrong that sounds) had a kid with h, living in a suburban neighbourhood, after breaking out of the mental institution. Like, what?

But anyway, there was just one thing in the book that through me off, and that was the fact that Sergei was an organ trafficker. That was okay seeing as this is a dark romance and it’s a book, but the thing was that he allowed Nia to believe that he ran a ‘multi-million dollar company’. She didn’t question it, and even as the book ended, she was unaware of his true profession. That was a bit creepy and it wasn’t enjoyable to think about, but okay.

Anyway, I recommend to people that like protective loving men and have a thing for dark romances, with occasional gritty gruesome details.

Terms such as "spongy" and "gummy", on repeat, when you describe steamy moments are a turn-off and quite gross... The story itself was quite enjoyable to read. It wasn't dark or twisted, somewhat violent with some sprinkles of death and mentions of organ trafficking. Overall an ok story to read.

This is probably my favorite villain romance by this author.

This is the story of Nia, a sweet orphan who is a live-in worker at her parent's friend's flowershop in a small quaint town. She works hard and tries to make ends meet, supporting herself. One fateful day, an escaped convict named Sergei stumbles into the flowershop, bleeding, and Nia is forced to treat his wounds and hide him from the police. Nia senses Sergei is a very dangerous man, and she's right. Sergei is a very bad man who got struck by love at first sight and doesn't realize what this new obsession with Nia means. Nia expects Sergei to leave, but Sergei starts living at the flowershop with Nia and refuses to leave, making up reasons to stay. Then things get even darker when he witnesses Nia being harassed and flirted with by a local thug who demands protection money...

First off, Nia is probably one of the sweetest little cinammonroll heroines ever. The way she met Sergei is so cute, and this is one case where I could see how our "hero" fell for her after the first meeting. She is immediately attracted to Sergei, but also has instincts that this guy is bad news. Their banter was really adorable. She is one of my favorite sweet heroines.

Sergei walked the perfect line of irredeemable villain and smitten crazed stalker for our heroine. He was unapologetically evil and vile, being an organ trader who talks about all other humans as "merchandise." He stays evil throughout, but comes to terms with the fact that he is truly in love with Nia and must have her by his side. I loved how he showed Nia his vulnerable side during their first time, confessing his love for her and begging her to say that she loves him too. Nia of course is a darling that obliges 🥰. They are the perfect match together. Sergei is completely psycho and you will be shocked at some of the things he does for Nia!

This book has probably the best pace out of the books I've read by this author. Didn't end too early like most, was fascinating throughout. I do wish we had a bit more to read, but that's because I loved this couple so much. I LOVE that this book has a really hot somnophilia scene. It's one of my favorite kinks and I loved it.

Safety:
* Heroine an innocent virgin, never been kissed or in a relationship before.
* "Hero" is not mentioned as virgin or not, although most likely not as he knew what to do. It is mentioned he only ever thought of women before Nia as organ "merchandise."
* No condoms or protection
* "Hero" does everything except penetration to heroine while she's asleep and unconscious.
* No OW, no OM (heroine gets vulgar harassment comments at her by thug, "hero" goes on murderous rampage as a result).
*HEA with epilogue, no children shown.

Is it love? Is it desire? Is it right?
Sergei's an escaped convict. He steps into a small flower shop to hide. Nia is an innocent girl. She hasn't been anywhere. She doesn't have much experience in the outside world. So when Sergei lies behind her counter while she waits on a customer, Mia tries to act normal o the convict doesn't kill her or the customer. He makes her tend to his wound. He is a bad man. He is big and evil. But from the first time he sees Mia he decides she is his, she will belong to no one else. But, what if Nia doesn't want to belong to him? What if she wants him to just leave when his wound gets better? What will happen to Nia? What will he do to her? Has she seen too much. When I read this I was torn between right and wrong. I will say this was a very different type of book. But it held my attention and kept me reading. I had to know the outcome. This book just wouldn't let me put it down. You've heard the saying, "This is on a need to know basis?" Well I really needed to know and I was going to keep reading till I did. This was a really good book and at the end you'll question what's right and what's wrong with this scenario. Then you'll question yourself. Simply a fantastic read. If you want to read a book you can't put down, you have to pick it up first.

His only redeemable quality is his love for Nia however that's what sells the book for me. This being fictional is why I can enjoy because how he makes his money is reprehensible. Nevertheless, this is a good quickie. Happy reading! 🙂

HMM THIS WAS A NOVELLA QUICKIE POSSESSIVE SMUT, ALTHOUGHT THERE WAS ONLY 1 SEX SCENE. THE WHOLE THING WAS SO INSTALOVE, I ALMOST CRINGED.

SERGEI is the convict broken out of jail, and we don't even know why he ended up in prison in the first place if he's such a big shot. As the head of an organ harvesting business, there's no logic to how he could have been caught or something. There was no bad guys in the story. It was just a prolonged short story of him stumbling upon our heroine, forcing her to help him and bam they are attracted to each other, and the heroine was so submissive...there was zero fight.

OVERALL I wanted to like this really badly, I expected more but everything was so superficial and lacking in substance or content that I couldn't bear to rate it any higher. But, it doesn't change the fact that it was easy to read and I actually wished there were more steamy scenes. Sadly, there was no BIG CONFLICT to make this story really epic.

A dark and steamy read with loads of twists and turns. Sergei is and escaped convict who happens upon a flower ship where sweet and innocent Nia is. He is injured and she helps him bandage his injuries and he stay there with her as he heals. He is falling for her and wants to protect her but can he when he is in trouble himself? Fast-paced read with great characters, intense chemistry and lots of steam. Sergei and Nia both have lots of depth to their characters and their story is dark but entertaining. I liked it.

loved it! it was exactly the type of book i prefer.
I love to read about convicts , and i love when there is an innocent h involved.
I loved how he loved her, i didn't give the last star only because the end was rushed and the epilogue had almost nothing about them in the future, i mean , we don't know if they get married or if they will have kids? i need to know those stuffs. Overall it was a really good read, i adored it.

“Isn’t it better to get stitches?” I ask as I back away. “What if it reopens even more?”
Stitches were an option before, but heaven knows why he was adamant about not doing it.

A bizarre guess could be that he’s afraid of needles.
“After it heals, you won’t care for me anymore,” he says casually.

I scoff and jut my bottom lip out. “I’ll care.”
I shouldn’t have said that. It sounded too intimate, too desperate for his affection.

“I expect you to keep that promise until death, little girl,” he sneers down at me.
Liquid flame licks up my spine as the quirk of his smirk turns deadly. “Now, care to stitch me up?”

Sergei was a real bad villain. He was way more dangerous and heartless than average antihero. He goes around killing people and runs a whole empire involved in organ trafficking. On top of that, he had this way of charming and being gentle only to his little girl, our h, which just made him seem like this enigmatic dude. This might be a trigger for some readers 'cause our hero here is the epitome of a badass.

“Did that hurt?”
I chuckle and rub the back of her head, scratching and tugging on the delicate strands. She has gotten used to my touch, and her soft skin craves the roughness of my palms.

It’s a delectable sensation that causes sweltering lust in my cock.

“Are you laughing in pain, or are you making fun of me?” she gripes with a frown.

“Make fun of you?” I recite, affronted as I smile. “I would never. I hardly have enough time to adore you properly.”

Sergei and Nia crossed paths when he was running away from the cops. He hurriedly rushed into Nia's Flower Shop. Nia was a super soft and sweet creature. She was one of the cutest and incredibly innocent h I had ever come across. I believe this is what drew Sergei to her. Sergei, on the other hand, was a completely heartless man, while Nia remained naive and innocent, just like a soft marshmallow.

“Can I—” she asks hoarsely. “Can you love me too?”

I blink away the blurriness and close my eyes, relishing the new warmth of her pussy around my meaty cock while the relentless chase of her aftershock dawdles.

I can lie, it’s second nature for a man like me. I do business that refines my manipulation skills. It’s just words, a form of comfort to her, and a cemented truth of the sincerest Sergei.

The most vulnerable fragment of me.

When she looks at me, tear-stained with frightful uncertainty, I’m incapable of the easy lie.

“I already do, Nia,” I confess candidly. “I already love you.”

She grins, strikingly beautiful and fiercely vibrant. My heart doesn’t rattle in my ribs, it sings a tune of contentment and acceptance. The weight of knowing I had fallen in love lifts my heart, and the stone of dread clears my conscience.

Their connections are so strong and so cute. I love to read about how a villain fall in love.

“Are you alright?” she asks softly, and it snaps me from my thoughts.

I want you. I need you. I love you.

Those confessions stay in my head. My voice gives up on me, and the last defense shatters when she cradles my cheek so gently.

“Say you love me, Nia,” I plead unexpectedly. “Tell me. Let me hear it.”

She’s a blessed soul when she smiles happily. “I love you.”

Her hips rock, fucking her juicy cunt on my cock as she murmurs, “Love you—really love you.”

I slide a tongue over my bottom lip, pulling me back to reality with a hazed pinch. Those words become my favorite, and I don’t regret unearthing the tenacious truth.

“I love you, Nia.”

This was the second book I read by Celia Crown, and both of them had an Antihero villain Hero and an incredible naive girl as the heroine. But I have to say, Celia Crown's writing skills are impressive. The storylines and descriptions were so carefully crafted, and definitely stood out from the typical love-at-first-sight books I usually read. I'm excited to keep reading more books by Celia Crown. ♥️🥹😭

good. though it ended really abruptly to me it was just so sudden i was expecting there to be more but there just wasn't.

i think some things where way over described, like it would be going how books normally go with just enough description or being kinda vague and then for the oddest things it would be really descriptive like listen to this ' the lump of wet clothes lands in the metal bin, and the gray shirt underneath it darkens from from the moisture as the bundle unravels a little bit.' its just a bit jarring when hardly anything else is described to that much detail and then out of nowhere its like that, why does clothes being put in a laundry basket need so much detail?

other than those things it was a good book. :)

This is the story of Nia a flower shop girl who has her world turned upside down when Sergei enters her shop bleeding and looking for refuge. She is so scared of him that she is afraid to flee. Instead she helps him bandage his wound and offers him shelter. He sleeps at night on the floor beside her bed and hides in the back of the shop during the day while she waits on customers. Sergei falls for her long before she has gotten over her fear of him. He could have left once the search for him in the area died down but he decided he had to have her but he doesn't want to frighten her so he needs to woo her. Sergei witnesses her giving a payoff to the local gang of thugs so they will not burn down the shop or rough her up and it makes his blood boil. He feels it is his duty to protect her. He is not altruistic as he appears though as he makes love to her when she is asleep and she doesn't awake although she does awaken to find him beside her in bed naked with no memory of what he did. There is more cat and mouse between the two of them with a happily ever after ending that I was not sure was going to happen.

so it was good and towards the end it went a bit down hill, her first time wasn’t all that great, he couldn’t hold himself back and just went to pound town and like every other book heroine for some reason she felt no pain.

He’s a mass shooter and killed a group of teenagers who were under the influence of gang members and drug dealers. He kills 2 poor cops for just trying to protect the heroine, like the only other sane person in this book. that was just unnecessary and she started acting weird towards the COP WHO WAS TRYNA HELP HER 💀 like giiirl chill. They also never got married even tho she wanted too and never had kids when she gave the impression she wanted too…

The Possessive Convict was a dark, twisted somewhat mysterious read. Readers should definitely read the authors trigger warning, but for me this was an intriguing read and I’ll absolutely be looking into the authors backlist and auditing trigger warning for more like this one.

The story was focused more on the characters than the world building and it worked brilliantly, for me. Nia and Sergei are complete opposites, that fit together wonderfully.

Sergei was the perfect definition of an antihero, with no real redeeming qualities and no lessons learned throughout the story. I loved it!

Whereas, Nia is sweet, innocent and unseeing of anything not in her experience, surrounding her. And she doesn’t come off as TSTL, rather simply as a person content in her own world. Again, loved it.

Absolutely recommend to the reader that’s a fan of the darker and not too squeamish to read a fictional tale featuring -but not detailing- the darker side of the world. I’ll absolutely be reading this again.

I didn't quite make my review by the 19th as I started reading it at 11:00 pm. I couldn't put it down. Such a great story. This has a dark theme with violence, drama and a very good psychotic personality. Sergie is a cold blooded killer that has made millions by harvesting body organs. He ends up in Nia's little flower shop after escaping prison. She ends up fixing his stab wound and he starts his manipulation on Nia right away. He is so obsessed with her and he doesn't understand these feeling as he's never felt any remorse for the taking of lives. He's devious, manipulative, deviant, obsessive and starts conditioning Nia right away. There are sex scenes but in all his wickedness he ends up loving Nia and protecting her and taking her home with him. I really love these stories by Celia Crown and can't wait till the next one comes out. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

He needs to possess her.....but does she want to be his?

Celia Crown is an author that has a way of writing a darker story with anti-heroes that you still fall into bed with. Such it is with The Possessive Convict. Be warned that there are a number of triggers in this story so be prepared. But if you can get past that and just go along on the journey you are rewarded with a dark, twisted, explosive, sexy, and thrilling story. Sergei is definitely an anti-hero that you would not want to meet as he is hard, violent, unfeeling, and really a psychopath. Nia is sweet, loving and innocent, someone you want to protect. So when Sergei falls hard for the innocent Nia it is a whole new experience for him but he still cannot let go of his ways.

The last thing Nia expects when she returns to the flower shop is Sergei an escaped convict bleeding out. She should run and call for the police but she doesnt instead she helps tend to his wound and hides him when the police come looking. Sergei is drawn to Nia naivety and innocence he wants to devour her in every way, and make her his. She makes him feel things like never before and he will do what ever it takes to keep her safe and keep her by his side. This is a dark romance that contains manipulation and Stockholm syndrome themes. A well written tale with intriguing characters that have you gripped all the way through!

The Convict and the Florist

Okay, in general, I really liked this story... it would have been 4-stars... except the "hero" really is not a nice guy. Most stories let you know up front he's not nice, and then gloss over their evilness for the rest of the story, or have him doing evil acts for good reasons. Sergei broke out of SuperMax so you know going in, he's not nice.... and his first act of violence is mostly for a good reason, but he continues to do evil throughout the story which is the reason for the 3-star rating. His only redeeming quality is that he genuinely cares for Nia. Interesting, yes. Entertaining, sure. Character you want someone you love being involved with, hell no.

I enjoyed reading this story. It was definitely dark. Sergei did some heinous things to get himself in prison. He had no morals and had little emotions but ended up liking and wanting to keep the virgin Nia, who helped him and worked at the flower shop. I really enjoy dark reads so I actually liked this story but others could be offended by the content of this story. The story was also a little mysterious which added to my reading enjoyment.

This was a truly unique book. I loved that the hero was still a bad guy to everyone except his overly innocent woman, but I was a bit disturbed at his line of business. Regardless, he loved his Nia and took such sweet care of her.

For such a short book, I felt the story was complete and not too rushed, but I wish it had been longer. The smex scenes were hot, specifically the somnophilia 🥵, but the descriptions kinda took me out of the moment with the way things were worded.

All in all, 3.5 stars. I will likely try other books this author has written.

This book is literally the definition of "I hate everyone in the world but you." I really loved the H, he was clearly a horrible person but he was amazing to the h. The h kind of annoyed me at first because of how naive (and basically how stupid) she was portrayed but I learned to tolerate her coming to the end when she finally grew a backbone. The story wasn't very dark but there was some graphic and violent moments that added to the atmosphere. Overall, I think this was a really good book by Celia Crown and it's worth the read if you're looking for something short and slightly more graphic.

Tropes/Kinks: escaped convict, virgin FMC, forced proximity, somnophilia, cockwarming

Thoughts:

Nia is ignorant and weak, there is no other way to put it. At the end of the story, Siergo even comments on how ignorant she is when it comes to his business and not questioning where millions of dollars come from. Siergo is an organ trafficker and I quote views all men, women and children as price tags. Gross. I have liked dark MMCs in books, but Siergo was not my man.

First of all I love the cover and having read the book he is definitely my idea of Sergei. What a man a real dominant figure who knows what he wants and what he wants as soon as he sees her is virginal Nia. She is a sweet soul who he entices her to be a little more strong. A story of passion between two people who are totally different. A short but good story. l loved it.

Rather disappointing by Celias standards. The story failed to hold my attention and with only two slightly hot scenes it fell well below expectations. The rest of the story was pretty mundane. Nia is so naive as to barely credible while Sergei came over as flat and 1 dimensional. Disappointing all round, from start to finnish.

Nia goes into her flower shop one day and sees one of the escaped convicts, Sergi, on her shop floor. He is hurt and threatens Nia. Nia helps him and as she gets to know Sergi, she develops feelings for him. The chemistry is possessive and slow building between the characters. The story has a dark plotline.
