Charles A. Goodrich was a Reverend in the 1st Congressional Church in the United States of America. He wrote Bible studies, along with many works on Christianity, but also on other subjects, such as the history of America, and Greek grammar. This particular book is on the history, development, and traditions of various world religions. It covers the major religions, such as Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, but also explores some of the pagan religions found in China, Japan, and tribal cultures. Being a Christian minister, the author details in depth the customs and ceremonies of the Christian church, differentiating the practices of the Roman Catholic, Protestant, and Greek traditions. This is a fantastic read for anyone interested in the history of religion told from the viewpoint of a nineteenth century Congressional minister. To compliment the republication of this work, a short introductory biography of the author has been included to help place the book in its historical context.
Reverend Charles Augustus Goodrich (1790-1862) was an American author and Congregational minister, who popularized the motto "a place for everything and everything in its place".
