The Royal Palm Resort #2

A Kiss at Christmas

Rate this book
She wants the perfect Christmas. He wants it over already. But fate has other plans.

Kelli just wants a little perfection in her life. Have the perfect Christmas. Be the perfect daughter. Get the perfect parking spot. Be the perfect employee. And pull the perfect pranks on the adorable but off-limits Parker Brockbank in Trade Shows, the guy she went on a first date with two-and-a-half years ago. The date that was anything but perfect.

You don’t always get what you want, and fate has a sense of humor.

Parker wants to ignore Christmas. He usually enjoys it, but since his fiancee broke off their engagement two months ago, canceling his Christmas plans, he doesn’t want anything to do with the holiday. All he wants is to move on and go back to being the Parker that pulls pranks on the charming but off-limits Kelli Ellis from Digital and Print Ads.

Fate has a sense of humor with him, too.

Both Parker and Kelli think they’re going to be spending the holidays alone. Until the owner of the company they work for—a man who has a secret knack for matchmaking—invites a dozen employees to celebrate Christmas on the beach. With a competition and a prize Kelli and Parker both want, the only way to win is by joining in on the Christmas fun.

And when it comes to winning against each other, Parker and Kelli are nothing if not competitive. Can they get past their workplace rivalry and take a chance on a second date that might just be imperfectly perfect?

You don’t always get what you want, and fate has a sense of humor.

I copied that from the synopsis and I think it's a perfect tag line for this book. There was lots of great humor and many witty moments that kept me turning pages and cheering on the two main characters.

Christmas time can mean something different for everyone. Both Kelli and Parker love Christmas but life happenings have them looking at it a little differently this year. These two are super fun. They have a bit of a prank war going on and I loved reading those scenes. If you enjoy fun humor in your books, this one will definitely fit that bill.

On the flip side, there were some more emotionally sad moments for both of these characters. Their family lives are a little different this year and that brings on memories and sadness. I enjoyed how the author was able to balance out the more sad emotions with the humor. I got a little frustrated with Parker at one point with his reaction but I loved how he made amends and realized his mistake.

Sweet romance with some great characters. I really enjoyed the friendship between Kelli and Parker and their budding romance. There were some references to previous characters of the first book and their story. Which, I haven't read yet. But I really am wanting to go back and read that one. It sounded like it is right up my alley for a storyline. I love a good sweet and clean romance and A Kiss at Christmas was a great read to enjoy while I was enjoying my own Christmas.

Content: Clean. Some kisses but nothing further.

I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

MY TAKE
Talk about a pair of people carrying baggage from previous relationships and family dynamics. And some "bad luck" as well. Seriously. But, in spite of it, Parker and Kelli are so right for each other. It was fun to get to see Graham and Merit again. They played a big part in the story, though I would never have imagined the pair as matchmakers. It's quite a fun idea. The resolution was sweet and satisfying.

I confess that I wanted to see Parker having a little discussion with Kelli's father about the horrible way he treated his daughter. He needed to know how much he hurt her, and I wanted to see the remorse. But, Easton took the higher road and just let us know they had resolved it.

One of my favorite reads of this Christmas season...

Have you ever read a book that completely hits the spot? Well, that was this book for me. I was in exactly the right mood for this sweet romance and with its themes of tradition, love, humor, family, and Christmas, along with a romantic beach setting, I was all in from the start.

Kelli is a klutz, plain and simple, but her quirks lead to hilarious moments that make her relatable and realistic. She has the best attitude towards life and is so much fun. Parker is charming and competitive, with a fantastic sense of humor and I loved watching the sparks fly right out of my Kindle. I adore characters such as these and I couldn't read fast enough, yet I definitely didn't want this story to end.

The themes that connected me to the characters in this book were perfect woven throughout and brought beautiful elements to the story. Although these two come from different backgrounds, they manage to complement and merge in adorable ways. This book, along with Parker and Kelli, encompassed all that is Christmas to me.

Such a very delightful and uplifting story written during the celebration of the Christmas holidays. This story about Kelli and Parker who work in the same building of their employer's business complex. This book has me hooked from the early chapters and I did not put it down until the last page. The reader is given a great first impression of this couple in the beginning chapters as they compete over a parking spot and play pranks on each other that leave you laughing. I enjoy Meg Easton's writing and this book did not disappoint. A very clean, sweet romance that had me crying, chuckling, shaking my head, sighing and smiling with pure joy at the end.

I did receive an ARC copy, but I also purchased this book. This is my voluntary, honest and completely personal review.

I found this book to be a little frustrating.

I'm not sure how old Kelli and Parker were supposed to be, but all of the pranks they played were a bit much. I felt like they had some chemistry. I didn't feel as though they had a lot of chemistry. I didn't find Kelli to be very likable.

Parker and Kelli had a problem communicating with each other. Even after acknowledging their attraction, it still seemed to be very difficult for them to open up to one another. I don't know if Parker ever clearly explained about his previous relationship and the effect it had on him. It also seemed like Kelli had trouble expressing her feelings to her dad.

I did really liked the premise regarding the "matchmaking" Christmas retreat with Graham and Merit.

This book was ok. It was a fast paced, sweet, holiday romance. I know it is labeled as a "beach" romance, and one of the locations was Myrtle Beach, but it all felt cold and Christmassy to me. Rest assured, Kelli and Parker do get their HEA.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy received from the author.

“A Kiss at Christmas” is a sweet love story full of humor, family, and love. It definitely checks off all the boxes for me.
Though the main characters have chemistry, they both also have big insecurities to deal with. I immediately connected with their personalities, as well as those of the secondary characters.
Kelli is the epitome of the optimist. For her the cup is alway half full, and she doesn’t have a judgmental bone in her body. Her competitiveness, and inner strength keep her from being too sweet.
Parker is the opposite when it comes to judging himself. After a bad breakup, he’s not sure he’s good enough for anyone, especially Kelli.
I found him to be funny, endearing, and a good guy.
As Kelli and Parker are thrown together at a Christmas retreat, can they each lay aside their past hurts for a chance at forever?
Their bosses Merit and Graham are full of fun, wisdom, and a little bit of matchmaking. I want to work for them!
I received an ARC courtesy of the author and this is my honest review.

Christmas office romance. Enjoyed the book and the premise until chapter 18 when I thought Kelli came across as really immature. I also got sick of hearing them moan they weren’t good enough for each other. I personally thought Parker was spot on with his comments about Kelli’s dad - the whole “I’ll integrate myself then integrate you” act was ridiculous and selfish in my opinion and I thought Parker was fair to share his concern for Kelli, although I do agree he perhaps took it a little bit too far to say he had never met the man. The break up was also unnecessary and showed both characters immaturity, but I suppose it created some drama for the story. The ending was a bit cheesy but overall enjoyed the book. Wouldn’t read again but would consider other books by the author for an easy listen, lighthearted story.

An audio book, it’s a single pov and in 3rd person so I had to be generous with the review. I’d rate this a 2.5/5; the plot seems stretched out and unnecessary. The FMC, Kelly, is so incredibly annoying and she definitely needs to get a grip. I thought of DNFing this book multiple times but continued with it because it was an audio book.
No spice, it was like a hallmark movie but annoying 🙃.

Men Easton may become my favorite sweet romance author and Myrtle Beach, SC my most romantic getaway

I thought A Kiss at Midsummer by Men Easton was the most romantic book I had ever read until I read book 2 of the series, A Kiss at Christmas. Men Easton is well on her way to becoming my favorite sweet romance writer; ranking right up there with Nora Roberts, Danielle Steele and my newer authors, Ava Miles and Tess Thompson.

Meg's way of stringing together words to form a vibrant mental picture of her beautiful settings amazes me. I have been to South Carolina only briefly on my way to destinations further south. Yet as I read A Kiss at Christmas I not only pictured the beach at the Royal Palm Resort, I STOOD on that beach, smelled the salt and felt the wet sand sand in my hands as her main character's, Parker and Kelli made sand snowmen! It was an incredible rush!

Her characters are perfectly imperfect, riddled with the same doubts and fears we all have in real life. I could relate to Kelly's fear of never being perfect enough, pretty enough, good enough to stop people from abandoning her. I could easily identify with Parker and his list of imperfections that he could never work through because he never realized there was anything to fix until it was too late. The truths and the advice Meg wrote of, (delivered through the wise conversations with Parker and Kelly's friends and bosses) , were so insightful I highlighted them, to later use on my affirmation wall! Simply brilliant!

It is not easy to convey romance in words. We can't all be Byron, Shelley or Shakespeare! To be able to convey so much emotion in a description of a kiss, a look, or a touch to someone's arm takes great talent. Men Easton has mastered the art of romantic prose. She invokes such feelings with the scene with Parker and Kelli dance together at the ball, and that first kiss at Christmas. I felt my own lips tingle and I forgot how to breathe when they began to dance. Meg Easton creates an atmosphere of pure joy and ecstasy without graphic love making or foul language. Not that I don't enjoy a little spicy, steamy love scene every now and then. To be able to ignite that same electricity in a reader, without the erotic lovemaking is an art form in itself. Meg Easton rekindles those exciting feelings buried deep inside me, whenever I read her work. She definitely created a spark with her romantic encounters in A Kiss at Christmas.

If you need that inner fire lit again or are just looking for a book that can help escape the nitty gritty life we live, Meg Easton's The Royal Palm series, starting with A Kiss at Midsummer and following with A Kiss at Christmas, is a good place to start.

🖤 THE VIBE CHECK: Sweet & Slow Rivals to Lovers
During the cozy months, a lighthearted and feel good holiday challenge is exactly what we need. A Kiss At Christmas delivers the perfect sweet, rom-com vibes.

Spice Level: 🤍 Sweet & Slow (0/5)
Edition: 🎧 Audiobook

🌴 The Curated Plot
Kelli is devastated when her father informs her that he, his wife, and two new step daughters will be travelling during Christmas to help integrate their families. Kelli, however, isn’t invited. On the other hand, Parker wants to avoid any type of holiday celebrations. If his ex-fiance didn’t break up with him, he would be on a honeymoon cruise for the holidays, Both Kelly and Parker expect to be celebrating Christmas alone when they are invited to a work retreat at Myrtle Beach where they distract each other with a playful competition and a prize they are both determined to win.

😉 Flirty Competition
Rivals to lovers between co-workers is such a fun mix in romance. Kelli and Parker have a flirtatious relationship right from the start with their innocent pranks and competitions. Whether it’s getting to work early to beat the other to the best parking spot, or it’s who can gain the most points at their companies vacation to win the grand prize. In the beginning, Parker didn’t want to participate in any extra festive tasks that they were given in order to gain points for the grand prize, but he did want to beat Kelli. Being the only two people they knew from work, Kelli started asking Parker to tag along with her as they earned points. It started as a competition but ended out being an excuse to spend more time together without saying it out loud.

💔 Missed Connection
The workers who attend this work retreat are carefully selected by one of the owners of the company who can sense a connection between people. Between Parker and Kelli, you would have to be a psychic. While it was obvious that they each had a small crush on each other, there was nothing that screamed “Perfect Match” to me. They both struggle with their communication skills making me believe that they would not work in a long term relationship. If either Kelli or Parker was more open and possibly helped the other open up more, I could see their relationship maybe working out. I would have liked to see a bit more flirty banter and less communication issues between the characters.

⭐ The Cozy Conclusion (Rated: 3.5/5 Curated Coziness)
A Kiss At Christmas was a sweet, lighthearted audiobook to listen to during the holidays if you’re looking for a romance that feels like a cozy hug.

Kelli and Parker know each other from work. They had one bad date two and half years ago and since then he never asked her out again. They have become competitors at work now. He pulls pranks on her and she returns the favor by pulling them on her.

Parker was to be marrying Stephanie near Christmas and having a Christmas cruise for his honeymoon. Only the wedding never happened nor did the cruise. His parents had scheduled their 30th anniversary cruise over the holidays because they thought he would be on his. He convinces his parents to still take their cruise and that he would be fine.

Kelli's father had gotten married and excluded her the trip he was taking with his new wife and her three daughters. Thus leaving Kelli to figure out how to spend Christmas by herself. Work had given them two weeks off so she could not occupy herself with her work.

Anyway the company that Kelli and Parker work for take 12 employees on a retreat every year. The twelve people they take on the trip are people that are spending the holidays by themselves. This year they are going to a magical resort in Myrtle Beach.

Check out the fun and romance that is in the air. This is the first book of Meg Easton's that I have read and it certainly will not be the last. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and think you will too. Can't wait to read more by this author.

This is the first book I've read by this author and it wont be the last! I very much enjoyed Kelli and Parker's story! They are co-workers who have history - both good and bad! They went on a date a couple years ago and it didn't go well. They have since both had serious relationships with other people and broken up so they are leery to dip their toes in the dating pool again. They are constantly playing pranks against each other in the workplace AND vying for the same parking place. This is a little humorous but it got a little out of control in my opinion! They get chosen to go to this all-expenses paid retreat with their company. I was amazed by this retreat! I WANTED TO GO ON IT MYSELF! Sign me up! I couldn't believe all that was included - just wow!!! IT's held at Christmas for those who don't have a place to go for the holidays and the CEO choses who he wants to invite. Kelli and Parker are chosen and it's attraction between them all over again! They are so sweet together but of course, they have issues that have to be dealt with. I enjoyed the whole story and can't wait to read more by this author! I definitely recommend it!

This is a fun, cute Christmas story that will make you smile and leave you feeling happy. I really enjoyed returning to The Royal Palm Resort in this second book in the series. A Kiss at Christmas was a lot of fun to read because the antics and banter between Kelli and Parker at the office and at the resort were hilarious. They were both two lonely people dealing with issues from their pasts that prevented them from finding love and seeing what was right in front of their eyes.

The owner of the company they work for ZentCube offered them both a chance to stay at The Royal Palm Resort instead of spending Christmas this year by themselves. They got to stay at a mansion with twelve other people from the company. The activities sounded like so much fun and the competition between Kelli and Parker to be the winner was funny. They are both overachievers. I would say the matchmakers did another great job in this story too. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Clean sweet romance. I enjoyed the main characters' silent rivalry at work carried out by pranks against each other. I'm not sure I'd be clever enough to think of them or brave enough to carry them out... In essence this is an enemies to love story. I found the boss's ability to play matchmaker interesting.
Both of the main characters were insecure but for different reasons and each had to overcome that insecurity to have their happily ever after. There were good reminders for all of us in the book about accepting flaws and trust etc...
It is a nice read for a quiet evening by the fire. Add some hot cocoa and maybe a little Christmas music in the background and you've got a perfect evening.

No sex, language or violence

This was a saccharine Christmas dream. It was perfect for putting anyone in the mood for a Hallmark movie marathon by a cozy fire.
Kelli and Parker are rivals at the same company. Two years ago they went on a disastrous date that led to an in office prank war. They moved on, but now they both find themselves alone for Christmas. An invite from two company big wigs puts them on a beautiful South Carolina beach, leaving the blustery cold of Colorado behind. The retreat is supposed to be for anyone who didn’t have a place to go for Christmas, but it turns into a place where lonely hearts cannot be so lonely.
This was great. It was a quick listen or read and it had all the best parts of a romcom without all the frills of a 400 page novel. If you are looking for something to warm your heart and put you in the mood for Christmas, check this out for free on Apple audio books today!

I always look forward to a good story from Meg Eason and this Christmas story did not disappoint! The two main characters, Parker and Kelli, have both suffered from rejection by someone significant in their pasts and their current lives are still being impacted. They are thrown together on a company retreat at a luxurious resort at Christmastime. There are lots of fun, light-hearted Christmas-y moments, some very romantic moments, and some very sad moments out of which the characters both grow and change. They learn that it is possible to be lovable even if you're not perfect. That's a good lesson for all of us. Highly recommend! I received and ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Kellie and Parker

Kellie and Parker have an understanding, after their first and only date didn't go so well two and a half years ago! Since they both work on the same floor, they prank one another! Oh and also try to beat the other to the same parking space. Only this year things are a bit different. For one neither have any plans for their time off work over the holidays. Two they are both invited to a retreat by their bosses Merit and Graham. Both thought they were in trouble when called to headquarters, but, then got a great surprise! However, they neither knew about the other till they were at the airport boarding the same plane along with 10 of their other coworkers. What happens next? Only one way to find out, read this awesome story by Meg Easton.

Cute Christmas romcom.
Kelli and Parker work together. They went on one horrible date, and now fight for the best parking spot and prank each other. Both of their families made plans for Christmas that didn’t include them, so they were tapped by their company founders to go on a special company retreat for people who didn’t have Christmas plans. Kind of a weird set up; but also kind of cute for a fictional story. Forced proximity at a nice resort with all kinds of Christmas activities and a contest, and soon Kelli and Parker realize that they really like each other. They both have some issues to work through from past relationships and current family and work decisions, but nothing too deep. It stays cute and sweet.

Light Feel-good romance

Our main characters are co-workers (although not in the exact same department). They went on a date two years ago, and it went horribly.

Now they're competing for the best parking spot, the conference room, and practicing lots of pranks on each other. Then they both find out they'll be alone for Christmas. They are invited on an all expenses paid work trip over Christmas to relax.

Things go on from there. It's your pretty typical hallmarky story.

I did find the characters really off-putting at the beginning. Very childish. Then a little ways in they had a magical personality switch (seriously, not sure if they were the same people, haha). It was a fun light read which is what I needed, but not a must-read for me.

I thought this was a good and sweet Christmas romance. The book is good for a nice escape and relaxing read. While this was a sweet read it wasn't fluff. There was good character depth and story arc. I really liked the h & H and was rooting for them. The premise is a fun idea. I didn't read book 1 before this title and that didn't distract from the enjoyment. When reading Christmas romances I think if this were a movie would it be too cringy and syrupy? I think this book would be one of the Christmas movies that was sweet but not make you groan in second hand awkardness of it being too sweet. The couples comedy of errors was a nice touch.

Loved Parker and Kelli's story! Parker had to learn that he wasn't as bad as his ex made him out to be, it was really that she couldn't accept him as he was. Kelli had to learn that she wasn't the reason people left, that it was their decision, and independent of her as a person. They both had to learn that people make their own choices, and that others also have to live with the choices they made. Great book, and I loved that characters we met before were in this book, too.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.

The perfect Christmas

Aaaah! Such a fun Christmas or anytime story. Kelli and Parker had a thing for each other but it was mostly played out as pranking each other at work. Then they got to go to a fabulous Christmas retreat on the beach and they realized those competitive feelings were morphing into something else. But they both had unresolved baggage that made them leery about a relationship. Kelli is adorable and the clumsy things that keeps happening makes her more so. Parker is practically perfect in every way except his ex has done a number on him. Clean and wholesome feel good story.

A Kiss at Christmas is a workplace rivalry to more... with a beach vacation thrown into the mix. And it was so much fun! Right from the start, I absolutely adored these two with their rivalry and pranks towards one another. The cat prank? Yeah, definitely had me laughing out loud! But as the story goes on and we get to see other sides of their stories and the baggage they were carrying, I found myself rooting for them even more. They certainly have their fair share of challenges to work through, but it was balanced well with humor and holiday fun that I couldn't help but enjoy!

This is a beautifully crafted story of two people destined to be together and I loved it. You may need a couple of tissues. I actually cried over the building a gingerbread house scene. That's excellent writing if you can make me cry! I could feel her sorrow deep in my heart but not for long because Meg's stories always feel like hugs. They just wrap around and make you feel good.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review: Delightfully, toe-curlingly romantic! I finished it in 2 days - because I had other things to do and had to wait till late night hours to read! Parker and Kelli are authentic characters with relatable issues; although one expects a HEA due to the genre, walking with them in their journey of discovering love was so beautiful and totally engrossing. Meg writes with humour, clarity and such sensitivity. Definitely a must read for fans of sweet, clean, deep, delightful romance - a 5 stars from me!

A Kiss at Christmas is a delightful, sweet, Christmas romance that had me hooked right from the start. Kelli wanted everything perfect including Christmas, Parker just wanted it over. Both were spending the holiday alone until the owner of the company they work for invites them to the Palm Beach Resort along with various other colleagues for Christmas. What follows is pure joy to read. Competition, laughter, fun, tradition, Christmas, romance, love, honesty and hope. This book made me laugh and brought a tear to my eye, I loved it and definitely recommend it.

Funny, clean, sweet romance, quick read

So many great laugh out loud moments! I really enjoyed the characters. They were smart, funny, kind people that I found realistic and relatable. Oh the locations! If you've read the previous book in the series you've already read about it and love it! I would recommend reading in order as the characters from the first book are a big part of this book. You don't need to read it to understand this book though. This happens over Christmas but I think it could be read any time if year.

This book was cute and fun. Had a little bit of humor to it. I loved the characters they were great. You really felt for them. Being on their own during Christmas would be hard. I loved the idea that the CEO does this trip for people. What a great way to bring people together and to show how you care about your employees.
But I was hoping for some more pranks at the end to show that they still flirt and have fun with each other.

“If Davis was a ten out of ten, Parker was an easy nine-hundred-fifty-seven….She was in so much trouble.” I love this line. I thought it was funny and cute.
