Yan has been writing poetry for more than two decades and his work has been published in various e-magazines in recent years. He has also been a member of rock bands where he contributed in songwriting as well as on guitars and drums. During his early years, Yan has launched the first Jim Morrison tribute band in India along with using the phrase "Poete Maudit" as a sign of describing how he went about writing all these years as he lived a life outside or against society in general. This Chapbook is an initial representation through the years captured in the form of a journey. Yan's educational qualifications in Commerce and Information Technology enabled him with a thriving experience of over 15 years in corporate in three different continents. He has recently started publishing his poetry along with custom art on underwaterfall.com. Yan is also working on a collection of sonnets, a novella and a joint project amongst collaborating with his artist wife on an art-poetry exhibition. Yan's inspirations behind his words come from a varied number of sources. His love of poets such as William Blake, Friedrich Nietzsche, Arthur Rimbaud, and a product of rock poetry of the 60s such as the poetry of Jim, on the same lines of prefigured surrealism, cultural representation, provides him the impetus to project situations and things, not as they are, but what it could be.
Poetry, a play of words to ignite the imagination. I’ve been pursuing this arduous yet exciting journey for over two decades now. Sometimes an expression of love, sometimes a rite of passage, poetry has given me an avenue I can confide in. Without regret, without shame, without judgement - I try to explore stories that have not been told before. I am a product of my own environment, a spectator of my experience and try to capture those random and restless thoughts, however I can, whenever I can.
This book is brilliant collaboration of poetry that keeps inspiring you as you flip each page. Each poem is a journey in itself entwined with moments that are relatable. Great work, a must read and kudos to the poet. Highly recommeded reading!
Being my first book to be published, I wanted to express a short collection of twenty poems to take the reader on a decade long journey. It is also a reflection of those restless thoughts and turbulent times, from the perspective of a nomad. I deem this journey as one of the most important ones I've had to take. Often the riskiest trips are the ones you take, down the memory lane.
