If I wanted to confine myself to only a few framing structures and sample examples, then perhaps this book would suffice for that purpose. However, I desire the confidence and creativity in my approach that the author keeps referring to, and I won't attain it from this book alone.
While it serves as a decent introduction and is easy to get through, it falls short of providing adequate preparation for interviews.

Sedang mencari referensi untuk belajar lebih dalam mengenai case interview, and I stumbled upon this book. Banyak yang merekomendasikan buku ini as a good starter kit to be a good consultant. So, I go for it.

Now if you want to learn about case interview, actually there are plenty of resources around the internet that you can source for free. However, I just like to have a physical book for study, and I think this book has too good of a credential for me to miss out on.

A great book overall. A very detailed explanation of each case. Good for the solo study too because the analysis is there for you and you can stop on each dialogue just to grasp the context and then continue on your cue. The last section of the book also provides guidance to your partner on case interviews, if you have one. If you don't, then I think it is also a good use if you solve it on your own, but you have to be creative on this one. I don't have one so, I guess it's not the full experience of the book for me. That is where the one-star goes.

Review: This book is a very-good entry-level book for anyone who's interested in pursuing a management consulting career. There is nothing too technical to create any kind of barrier for reading. I appreciate the amount and variety of cases which provide good practice, and therefore, the book is worth reading for multiple times. To fully utilise this book, the reader is suggested to practice exactly as the author suggested (which is why I left the partner case part unread as I was in need of a partner). However, most of the cases are in manufacuring industry and some of the examples maybe outdated, and hence it only reflect the tip of the iceberg of real consulting pracitice. My score is 7.5 out of 10

I took the book to exercise case studies for an interview at McKinsey. Although the author gives some interesting tips for cases, the examples apply to interviewee led cases and not interviewer led ones, as McKinsey and Company do. So, unfortunately, I don't find it very helpful as an exercise book. The cases you can try to do are very rigid in that it gives the interviewer exact questions and answers so there is little flexibility out of the story the author made.

It's referred to as the Bible for a reason! If you are interested in learning about case interviews, it seems to be the most popular choice.

Though, in my opinion, "Case Interview Secrets" is slightly better. Ofc, both were great reads!

An excellent textbook to get you in the mindset to approaching casing and giving a strong repository of practice material (with good analysis) you can refer to! Definitely will take a couple of readings to digest properly tho!
