A jaded alien gladiator. A heroine who won’t give in. A battle worth winning.
After a fatal mistake drives Baralt away from his world, he has to rely on his fighting skills to survive. Despite his success in the arena, he grows increasingly tired of violence - until a soft, beautiful human female gives him a reason to fight.
With no one but herself to rely on, Izzie has managed to overcome all of the obstacles life has thrown at her. But being abducted and sold by aliens may be the one challenge she can’t defeat.
When a massive, furred alien comes to her rescue, she has no reason to trust him. And yet this strangely appealing warrior could be her only hope.
Determined to protect Izzie, Baralt is forced to return to the one place he vowed never to go - his home planet - only to find it facing its own threat. Can Baralt and Izzie work together to help his people, make peace with the past, and find the home they both want?
Each book in the Alien Abduction series can be read as a standalone romance. Warning - this sweet and steamy HEA contains scenes that may be disturbing for some readers. Intended for mature readers.
This series has been very inconsistent for me. I've loved/really enjoyed some and others not so much. Sadly, this one was the latter. ・ ・ ・ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🕮⋆˚࿔✎𓂃 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
When I realized this story was going to be about one of the aliens who inhabited the ice planet that played such a huge part in some of the plots of the previous books, I was insanely curious to find out who it would be. I kind of expected it to be the chief, but I was still pleased that it was about a character that was semi-introduced before.
After a tragedy in his clan, Baralt's guilt forced him to leave his planet (and baby sister) behind. A fighter you didn't want to bet against, he was now positively bored with his life. And then a spark happens—he meets a human slave named Izzie. And nothing and no one was going to keep him from her.
I enjoyed the bit of drama that was involved with this story, not just with the escape plot, but also with the not so sweet reunion between Baralt and his people. I really liked Baralt, not so much Izzie, and I'm kind of hoping to see more of these characters again.
This was a cute story that is sweeter than a lot of the entries in this series and I’m ok with that. Izzie is defiant and Baralt was sweet and protective Yeti looking hero and while the story was resolved quick and fairly angst free, sometimes that’s just what you need. I’ll read the next one.
I didn't like that Baralt was so accepting of concubines. He was also accepting of women being kidnapped and given to winning gladiators to be raped, beaten, and/or murdered. In fact, he was going to renew his contract on that horrible planet in which his winnings contributed to the slavers' success!!
The only reason he intervened for Izzie is because he wanted her for himself. What about the hundreds of thousands of other women who are brutalized? Because they don't tickle his pickle, he doesn't care? He wasn't born and raised on that planet. He had visited other peaceful planets. He came from a loving tribe who cherished their women. He had a sister! Lucky for Izzie he wanted to screw her at first sight and she wasn't just an average slave or he would not have bothered to care.. grrr.. (><)
Okay, let's talk about how when Baralt won Izzie. She's been kidnapped, put on an alien world, forced on display naked in an arena with a bunch of aliens who want to rape her. Baralt wins, comes up to Izzie, frees her from her chains, and throws her over his shoulder. He then sticks his thumb up her hoo-ha as he carries her back his place. And Izzie just accepts that and is somewhat turned on? WTF
At this point, I only kept reading bcuz I like this author..
Side comments: 1. There was a lot of predictability: Arena battle with Varga. Other skills tribe could use for profit. 2. Is it me or was the escape off of the prison planet a little too easy? 3. With all of his travels, why didn't Baralt teach his tribe to use weapons sooner- even if it is just when they leave their home? A tribesmen went to port and approached a group of would be rapists. Petralt was surprised that the men pulled guns because he issued a challenged. Baralt's brother died for this same reason. duh 4. The instalove and intimacy just wasn't believable..
I skimmed quite a bit of the book but there were some good parts: the tribe, Zemma, Petralt, Varga (he was the real hero), and Baralt's kindness towards Izzie.
I decided to go back and look at my other reviews of this author. Maybe it's just this particular series that is not for me. I enjoy the other series much more. The next book is about Varga who I realllllly liked. I hoooope it is better

Perfectly fine story but nothing terribly special—heroine thinks she's tough and ends up in a lot of hurt because of it and needs to be saved/hero is deadly to everyone but her and secretly the biggest respectful marshmallow who instantly falls in love. She dithers and frets a lot about how she can't possibly have known him long enough to catch Feelings and has abandonment issues. Pretty run of the mill. This story felt rushed and lacked a lot of Phillips' signature steam to prop it up.
I think I've perhaps outgrown the bulk of this genre and am feeling ennui or fatigue. So this might definitely be an "it's me" situation.
Awesome! Loved it: strong, fierce warrior Baralt rescues Izzie from slavery and escapes from the fighting pits with her. Onward to Hothrest, Baralts home planet and the adventure continues. Baralt, strong, huge, fighter but oh so tender and loving to Izzie. Loved this so much I'm going to start reading the rest of the series from the beginning with Book 1!
5 Stars. This author enjoys storytelling and happily ever afters. Baralt is lovable and the steam is yummy. We're 8 books into the series and it's still fresh and I'm wanting for more.
One of my favorite books in one of my favorite series💖💖💖💖💖💖
Baralt is a Hothian, and we've heard stories of him since the book Faith and the Fighter came out. He resembles a more humanoid version of what we think the mythical Yetti looks like. He left his home world after a tragic incident. He became a well known fighter on the gladiator circuit. After one of his rights he sees a female u like any other and the attraction is instant. He knows that she'll Newsweek he decides to fight for her. Izzie, abducted from her small college town where studying to become a lawyer. Wakes up in a cage and she fights her captures until they hurt her bad!y and we'll her to the highest bidder. While being taken to her new owner she looks up and is confronted with an alien that all at once scares her because he looks like An ice beast/Yetti and attracts her because of the gentleness he show despite being a ruthless gladiator. When Baralt wins Izzie he thought he only wanted to share a few nights with her, but soon realizes that this strong fierce female means more to him. He wants her for his mate, for forever. Izzie soon realizes what a good male Baralt is and what he is willing to do to rescue her. As they make plans too escape the slave planet they grow closer and closer and when they finally reach his home world the love between them blossoms and grows . It an awesome story you'll love both the heart and the heroine and you'll be cheering for them through the whole story. Passionate, action filled adventure with forever love and a happy ending! Highly recommend 💖💖💖💖💖
𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖/𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒: This was a nice easy read with an equal amount of steaminess and drama and all sort of other elements! We get planet travel, a rescue mission, a fighter yeti man, and a slave sold to the winner. All sorts of stuff was going on in this one! Sometimes I enjoyed it more than other times but as a whole it was fun and enjoyable. Not my faves of the series but if was good!
Y'all have to know by now that heroine in distress and (mostly) respectful alpha male swooping in is my favorite trope! This even applies to my favorite - aliens. Baralt is like a gladiator Yeti. He's not a slave, but is working under contract. When little human Izzie crosses his path he's immediately taken and becomes determined to save her. He wants to quickly fulfill his contract which is dangerous to his life. I enjoyed the fight scenes. (I love "stuff blowing up" movies, so this fits right in.) This story had some twists and turns I didn't see coming. It also brought some heat! I called Chapter 10 "Let's Get it On."
At one point Baralt buys Izzie some beautiful new clothes... "I was wrong," he said thoughtfully. "About what?" "You are more beautiful without clothing, my aria." That Baralt is such a charmer.
Bonus, we get to spend more time with Zemma from Hanna and the Hitman because Baralt is her brother. I enjoyed the angst factor which in this book is low to medium. It was a sweet read with a bit of action and some very lovable characters. (I loved young Petralt!) Baralt, for being this HUGE ice beast, is so loving to Izzie. We get a peek into the next book, too. I beta read Izzie and you're going to love it! 4.5 stars
This book was a magnificent journey to the ice planet home of the Hothians.. It kind of reminds me of Hoth , the ice planet of the Empire Strikes Back , from Star Wars. All ice and snow and crazy beasts. In thus book Baralt the Hothian, is a gladiator on a slave planet. He is good and has certain privileges. On his way to his quarters from a successful fight he comes across a female of a race that he has Never seen before. He wants het , and will do what he must to have her...... Izzie is a waitress \college student who has been abducted and is now a slave of the slave master Reglehi. He owns the gladiators and many varieties of beings. Izzie is one if many . And since she is a new race that few have seen , she is going to be a special prize. But she is not going to make it easy!! As Izzie and Baralt GRT together and plan a future that does not involve slavery, it is a wild , cold ride !!! I thought this book was fun and it was good seeing past characters from other books in this series!! I love seeing what they are doing now. I loved the descriptions and how many different minds of beings there are!! I am excited for the next book !!!
Oh, these sexy, possessive aliens. I REALLY like them. Especially when their possessive protection manages to give those abducted human women a chance at a new life. Given the future Izzie has in front of her if she isn't spirited away from her current owner, things would have ended very badly for her.
As it is, Baralt's alien intuition prods him to give Izzie what protection he can the first time he lays eyes on her. And things progress from there, if you know what I mean. Given that Baralt also ends up in a much better place - one he never thought he'd return to - this works out well for both of them.
On Izzie's end, she doesn't want to hope Baralt will be different from what she's experienced before, but he shows her at every turn that he's both a gentleman and he's someone willing to do what needs to be done to keep her safe.
Pit fighting, aliens with hearts of gold, a homecoming that is long overdue, and some sexy, sexy times between the Icebeast and the human. GOOD STUFF!
An addictive read that you'll gladly lose sleep for
I loved Izzie and Beralt's story! I waited what seems like forever to finally have it release, then I quickly sped through the dang thing so fast that I'm suffering a kind of fast reading remorse. I'm probably going to go back and read it again anyway, but, ohmybob what a fantastic part of the series this is! The two protagonists meet at the fight club, but she needs saving. Beralt is a badash fighter, but there are some shady characters that try to mess with his plans. Izzie does not expect good things to happen for her, that all aliens are out to either eat her or, well, eat her, and she's totally not cool with that. She's sassy, I liked her right from page one. You will root for her and her fighter, and their adventures will just make you love them more. I know it will be an interminable wait for Joan and Varga to make an appearance, but you should totally read Izzie's story now.
Izzie and the Icebeast: Alien Abduction Book 9 By Honey Phillips Kindle unlimited purchase Basalt has been on the fight circuit for ten years. He has never seen anything like the new slave. Now he has to win the deathmatch to win her and project her in the process. Izzie is a slave and a fighter because of that she was sold to the fight club, not as a fighter but as a prize to the winner. I recommend the series be read in order even though there isn't a big crossover with characters. But events happen in other books that are mentioned in later books so to understand what they are talking about or how it affects the books later on I would read the books in order. Alien Abduction romance: Beth and the Barbarian Cam and the Conqueror Deb and the Demon Ella and the Emperor: Faith and the Fighter Greta and the Gargoyle Hanna and the Hitman Izzie and the Icebeast Joan and the Juggernaut - Sep 24, 2020.
Ever want to fuck a Yeti? Then this is the book for you! All seriousness though, I was bored af reading this one. Maybe the kink books make for a better plot, even if they aren’t your specific kinks. I legit almost gave up on this one at 60% because of its snooze fest. Speed reading capabilities is a must when you read as much as I do. Lol. So a well established pit fighter enters a death match just to save this abducted human female from a terrible fate. Had he not intervened and volunteered to fight, she would have been beaten, raped and possibly killed. And how does she thank him for saving her life? By holding out on him. He cares for her, respects his boundaries and helps her escape the terrible future of slavery, but won’t give up the p*ssy until she starts to catch feelings. I don’t respect sl*ts, but I don’t respect selfish b*tches either. There needs to be an in between here people. Yeesh. Hopefully the next book isn’t so damn boring.
I started this series out of order with Greta and the Gargoyle and I was hooked and started at the beginning. All of the stories involve strong females that overcome being abducted by aliens and find their mates in unusual places. Izzie and the Icebeast is a wonderful story of a pit fighter with a heart of gold that is willing to do whatever is necessary to protect the little human female even if in the end she doesn't stay with him. The tenderness from the big "yeti" gave me the warm fuzzies and the love scenes made other things warm. It's a great story with a HEA. I love the way Phillips intertwines the stories where they are standalone but references past couples and events and let's you know who is next to find happiness. Can't wait to start the next book.
This is more of a romance novel... "In Space", with a Yeti. 😋💕Totally an adorable white teddy bear with fangs. I wouldn't call Baralt a savage. He's more of a lovable marshmallow. Izzie (Isabel) has abandonment issues that has to work with. She tries to be fierce when her circumstances could easily end her life. Helping Izzie escape from slavery and making Hothrest a home was an enjoyable story.
I thought it was 3.5 🌟 at best. Felt it was the typical PRN 👽 plot. But, no. It was enjoyable and I was glad to read and see Hanna's story being mentioned. I had started on book 8, and like how the characters are incorporated and the author makes you familiar with this universe she's created. I am definitely reading "Joan and the Juggernaut" next. Afterwards , will have to properly start the series from book 1! I was left wanting to know about Varga's adventure.😅
Human Izzie has had no one to rely on but herself, but when she is abducted and sold by aliens it is something that she cannot handle on herself. Baralt is an alien fighter and having made a fatal mistake in his youth has been driven away from his homeworld. When Baralt rescues Izzy she has no real reason to trust him but he might be her only chance to escape from the threat she currently faces. Can they work together and gain their freedom and a chance at a brighter future?
I enjoyed this story with the drama of what Izzie was facing on top of Baralts own problems. The way they had to work together was great to see and it was fun to read about their adventures. Between the two of them, they were able to handle all of their problems - they just need to learn to trust each other. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.
Another wonderful book in this complex series! Honey Phillips’ imagination knows no bounds. Baralt is intelligent and interesting, while being uniquely different than the aliens we have encountered so far. We did visit Hothrest for the first time in Faith and the Fighter and again in Hanna and the Hitman, but we never really got to know the Hothians. This book gives us that introduction and all those intriguing details! Baralt risks everything to rescue Izzie, and that includes his heart. Izzie is a strong Earth woman just trying to survive. Who knew Yetis could be hot enough to melt a damaged heart? lol! I love how the characters in all of this series face overwhelming struggles, and odds, but they never give up. Most of us never face the horrors the characters do, but we should take inspiration from them.
Thrilling reading! Mmm, I’ve been curious about the Hothians and the planet Hothrest, so I’m thrilled to be back in this world! Izzy is a fascinating character. She’s in a horrifying situation on a desert planet, but she stands strong and doesn’t give up. As we go through the story, it’s easy to see that she’s smart and creative. Letting herself rely on an alien gladiator for her safety is a big step to take. But Baralt, her protector, says “A Hothian never breaks his word.” I love discovering more about Baralt, what makes him tick. There are quite a few secondary characters that I enjoy immensely and hope to see more of in the future. I am infinitely pleased with the romance between Baralt and Izzie, and with the outlook for their future! A splendid story!
This is a great book and I really enjoyed reading it. It has a happily ever after ending and is very well written, the chemistry between the main characters is off the charts hot.
When izzie gets abducted on her way home from work, she doesn’t believe her eyes when she wakes up to see aliens. She’s taken as a slave to a fighting arena where she sees baralt, or rather he sees her. When he tells her guard he will fight to the death for her, izzie is furious and adamant she won’t be a willing plaything for anyone, especially someone who looks like a yeti.

Izzie has been kidnapped and sold as a slave to aliens and now she would be given to the winner of these fights for a week before being given to her new owner. As soon as Baralt saw Izzie, every protective nature in him came out and he knew that she was his mate. But he couldn’t let the masters know. Getting help conspiring to get off the planet with Izzie and returning to his home planet was something Baralt never thought possible. Now Izzie and Baralt were exploring their relationship on the run and trying to get approval from his clan while settling the past and making a future. Good read

Love this story. It is part of the Alien Abduction series. But each story can easily be read as a stand-alone. Izzie is a young woman abducted from Earth. From there she will be sold into slavery. But all will soon learn that she is a fighter. The icebeast is Baralt. He is from an ice planet but is now a fighter for a circuit that is sorta like gladiators in a colosseum. The story has plenty of fighting both in and out of the ring. The romance is interesting on how it develops and evolves. There are even a few characters from previous books involved. Can’t wait to see who is next to find their mate.
This was a yummy adventure with a super sweet hottie and Izzie, who was a terrific character too and did a good job of figuring out how to accept reality fairly quickly. I liked that we got to see Zemma again and that other wonderful characters were introduced who will hopefully go on to earn their own HEAs soon as well. Trust, acceptance, resourcefulness, injustice, vengeance, friendship, community, family, hope, and love were some of the undercurrents in this steamy tale.
I received a free copy of Izzie and the Icebeast, but that did not affect my review.
I quite enjoyed reading this book. Kept my attention. Well written and a great plot. My favorite part was the first meeting between Izzie and Baralt. She never gave up fighting. I also enjoyed catching up with Zemma and finding out what happened to her and her male. My other favorite part was when Varga said the fighting master fell down the stairs and was not easy....
I can not wait to read Varga's story.

A good add-on to the series but can also be read as a quick stand-alone Izzie is a waitress/college student who has been abducted and wakes in a cage Izzie experiences as a slave have been harsh, she is so vulnerable but refuses to show it
She is put up as a prize in a gladiator style fight to the death, but who is going to win, and at what cost
Worth downloading and loosing an hour in another world.. or two..

A little disappointed with this one. The title and description was giving me Beauty and the Beast retelling vibes, and while the H is quite literally a "Yedi style Beast " that's about where the similarities end with Beauty and the Beast. (If you want that Beauty and the Beast retelling then I would point you to her Naga or Kraken stories 🔥) There's a lot of lying and miscommunication/hiding things going on here and I just don't love any of those tropes. Plus there isn't enough of a "recovery" to make me buy into their relationship.
Every time I read about Hothrest, the Hothians & their way of life, I want to know more. This book answered a lot of questions & I hope to revisit them again in future books. The great part of this book is that three couples meet their mates. There was a lot going on in this story with the fights, how Beralt & Izzie meet, how they escape & Beralts return to Hothrest after many years. There is so much more to this story. It is worth your time. Enjoy 🥰
Excellent. What a great story! This is different with a gladiator winning his female in a death match. Lots of fighting and some traveling. Meet new races and visit a new planet. Some daring explosive moments and some really sweet moments. I love when he's big, huge and scary! Baralt is all of that and more. Izzie is a fighter but not equipped to fight anyone. It story starts up immediately and doesn't let up through the whole book. Kathy
