The Fallen God

Rate this book
A building storm. A raging war. A fallen god.

Can Dahlia, Madi, and Alysand recruit an army powerful enough to stop the plans of a malicious deity?

Having saved Quinn and the town of Taelman's Pond, Dahlia finds herself whisked away into another battle in this endless war. She discovers more about her in-game lineage as a half blood. She must win over the wood elves and help them fight off the Karinoth, the dark elves who call to her blood.

Madi makes her own plans, teaming up with Shin as they discover secrets long forgotten. It will be up to her, and her big bear, to win over Marianor's biggest allies.

While his friends fight to secure the North, Alysand Deschaney takes his new apprentice and forces young Torven to accept the life of a gunsinger. Their journey takes them far to the South where soldiers and support await.

Time is quickly running out, and all the while the Rat King grows stronger. Can our heroes beat the odds and forge a single army out of the various allied forces?

Delilah and Ophelia AKA DAHLIA, are such lucky daughters!

I truly enjoyed the Eternal Online series and I am so sad that it's all over. I thought the ending was a little lacklustre but Dahlia and Madi finally meeting one another was super sweet. I just wanted more, I don't know what of... just more. I didn't want this to end.

I am curious though, Mr. Reynolds... what happened to Dahlia and Ben meeting one another again? Does he become her chosen grandpa and when he dies she becomes his heir? Heheheh. Oh, and huge double thumbs up for Dahlia and Madi match up... the representation for little lady loving ladies in this book is awesome!

The author loses the main character. Actually, starts the story of book 3 with Madi and Shen playing together (even though Shen is Hana’s friend). Then the story becomes convoluted and confused. Even Alysand, who is a NPC (Non-Player Character), becomes the point of view (main character as well). Did the author become bored with the story? Did the author write all they had to say? Why all this side-stepping into the lives and adventures of the side characters? Why leave Hana behind? Why make the Rat King (rodent mob) one of the main antagonists, “evil boss lords” of this game if rats are just rodent mobs and lowly in strength and power?
The main plot arc, in book 1, was Hana/Dahlia entering the game to pay for her Dad’s debt and not become and indentured servant/slave. When Dahlia finally had the money, the author did not even mention the first payment. So, was the main plot arc so weak, that it wasn’t even worth mentioning when the first payment was made?
I think whatever plot themes and plot arcs were present in the beginning are lost by book 3. The Back and forth between characters, make it more like a series of light novels than a cohesive story series. Again, the reason for playing the game, by book 3 is gone, so what was the point of making an RPG/online game novel series?

So - here it is, the end of this very good series.
What did i like? Some really good characterisations, the future society outside of the game is interesting - however small parts we get to see, the quests were epic, the enemies were good and the friendships even more.
So -why not 5 stars? First of all - i am not a big fan of POV-changes and it has a lot of it. It wasn't Hana's story in the end but the stories of three with each her/his own story arc, that only meet in neuralgic places.
My other personal thing is he part with the guns. While that gun bard is an intersting class, in my head Axe swinging, Kendo-Style Katana fights and someone with a magic revolver just don't mix. I would have preferred to read Alysands and Torvens story in an own world. But that is my own view only.
Overall an extremely well written story I enjoyed and hope T.J. Reynolds will continue to bring us new worlds!

I don't write many reviews, but after reading some of the reviews left for this series I felt I really had to. I love this genre, as a long time MMORPG player LitRPGs are like candy to me. Sadly, this is only the third series I have found with a female MC that has some queer representation. The author in no way throws this in the readers face constantly, and by reading that another woman makes the MC's heart race a little faster and makes them tongue tied isn't going to corrupt the youth of the world.

The story itself was fantastic, the author did a great job at building up the world inside the game and out. We are also introduced further into other characters motives and thoughts including that of one of the NPCs of the game. I really enjoyed that take as it was explained early on that this realm was kinda left to do it's thing and the history the NPCs create are unique. I'm not counting that as a spoiler because it was mentioned in the first or second book.

The final installment of the Eternal Online series kept me turning pages until the end. The cliffhangers at the end of the second book were not resolved until later in the third book, and my need to know what was going to happen helped me to finish this story more quickly than the two previous ones. We learn more about the characters we have come to know, and their journeys in the final installment that they take separately and together are gripping. I will not say much about the ending, except to comment that I am appreciative that attention was given to both the Eternal Online world and the real world.

Best yet!

Love this series. The author likes to do chapters from different character perspectives. Normally I hate this. But TJ is very good at it. It makes the book seem longer which i love, and he does it very well. Kudos! If you have read any other books in the series, start with book 1. I promise you won't be let down!

Solid Read

Definitely a nice page turner. I enjoyed the character development and interactions, and how well scenes are written. I do think the finale in the final battle seemed a tad underwhelming, but still, I enjoyed this series and would recommend giving it a whirl to anyone who enjoys the litrpg genre.

This story was one of the best ones I have listened to. TJ Reynolds is a fantastic writer, creating relatable and meaningful characters. The action and humor and sentimental moments that you need in an epic story are perfect. Andrea Parsneau is perfection in the narration. I am so sad that this journey is over, but can't wait to read/listen to more of TJ's stories.

Great book

Stellar work once again from TH Reynolds! Lots of action and adventure, leveling and quests. Hopefully there's more Hana's story to tell!

Great trilogy!

I thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy of books, as TJ gave me a look inside his world of EO Online. Hope to see more books written in this world.

I was really hoping for this book. The ending felt rushed and fell very flat for me.
