The British Billionaires #1

Tell Me You're Mine

Rate this book
A chance encounter between a secretive billionaire and a plus-size PR expert could be the perfect solution to both their problems - or a delicious scandal in the making - in New York Times best-selling author J. S. Scott's new British Billionaires series....

I am the type of woman who always plays it safe. In my professional life as a public relations "fixer", and in my personal life, especially when it comes to the opposite sex. Really, who needs the wild highs and the I-want-to-die-because-he-left-me lows of a relationship? At least, that's what I thought...until I met him.

Damian No-Last-Name-Given is sexy as sin, and I'd developed some kind of weird, instant attraction to him the moment he settled his chiseled body next to mine on a flight from London to Los Angeles. His sexy British accent did crazy things to my previously dormant female hormones, which had eventually led me to do the most impulsive thing I'd ever done in my entire life. I kissed him while everyone else in business class was sleeping. Or had he kissed me? All I knew was that we were both very willing participants, and that panty-melting embrace had rocked my entire world while it was happening.

Unfortunately, that moment of spontaneity would haunt me once I found out Mr. British Hottie's true identity. He'd held his last name back for a reason. Oh no, I couldn't make some once-in-a-lifetime misstep with an ordinary businessman. When I screwed up, it had to be one for the record books, and it had to happen with one of the most powerful men in the world. And, oh yeah, he also absolutely had to be the biggest man-whore on the planet.

Once I knew the truth, I could have easily convinced myself that the kiss wasn't all that earthshattering - if Damian Lancaster hadn't boldly swaggered into my office the very next day to apologize, and to make me a business offer I couldn’t possibly refuse....

Goodbye sanity; hello madness.

It’s inconceivable that someone pitching for a PR account wouldn’t do a basic due diligence on the Board of Directors. This book is annoying and an insult to the women who work hard at being taken seriously in the corporate world.

Yes, it’s a book, however, the premise is completely implausible.

I'm a J.S. Scott fan, I've read almost all of her books but this one was boring. I listened to it and the narrators, Elizabeth Powers and Rupert Channing did an amazing job. In fiction, you have to suspend your sense of reality and accept the world the author has created. That would be fine but to have a PR fixer pitching her company's services but has done no research on the company or the executives running the company. Really? Nicole, the heroine, didn't know what the CEO of Lancaster international looked like, how old he was, and how many family members he had. She didn't even create a Google alert for news on the company. She walked into the presentation with a generic pitch that didn't mention the current scandal that just hit their company and CEO.

She cries on the shoulder of the CEO of the company on the plane ride back to LA. Why would he hire her when her lack of knowledge is obvious and her insecurities are alarming. He's hot for her and wants to sleep with her so he'd do anything to make that happen. Nicole's insecurities about her looks shape everything she does and she repeatedly voices them to herself and out loud over and over, to the point the reader just wants to slap her. Damien the CEO finds this all charming and only wants to sleep with her. He keeps the secret that he has a twin brother who is doing all of this outrageous stuff and Damien is taking the blame for all of Dylan's outrageous behavior. Damien does this because something bad happened two years ago and Dylan wants to hide from the world and his family lets him. You never find out what happened only that Dylan lost someone close to him. When Nicole finds out Damien has manipulated and lied to her does she get angry? Nope, she thinks he was just trying to help his brother and once he gives her the puppy dog eyes and tells her he loves her all is forgiven and she accepts his marriage proposal. Sure, because that's what a real woman would do. I'm being sarcastic, no woman would behave like that and I hate when fiction ones are written that way.

Nicole has no self-respect to even stand-up for herself and insists that Damien at least grovel for her forgiveness. He convinced his mother, youngest brother, and staff to lie to her and without any consequences. This story dragged out chapter after chapter with little action until 1 hour and 30 minutes was left. The best part of the story was the last chapter with Nicole's partner Kylie who will be teamed up with Damien's twin brother Dylan in the next book. Now Kylie seems to have the backbone that Nicole completely lacks. She's attracted to Dylan, the lush/manwhore, but doesn't take any crap from him. Now that's a heroine.

J.S. Scott's female characters all seem to have deep insecurities but this one just went over the top and crossed the line into pathetic and unsympathetic. Even when you expected her to stand up for herself she didn't. Even Damien's alpha personality was over-the-top when he tries to bully her into not leaving London instead of asking for forgiveness. He goes from alpha to asshole in the blink of an eye. I'll be reading or listening to the next book but this is not a true representation of J.S. Scott's work. If you're new to her work read one of the Sinclairs (East and West Coast), the Walkers, or her Billionaire books you'll see she really is a great romance novelist.

2 1/2 " Make it make sense." Stars.

Okay, so confession... I kind of felt like this was not really going to really click with me from the beginning. I should have given up early and found a different book. But I needed a billionaire story for a challenge and I'd enjoyed this author in the past. The h, Nicole has very low self esteem and has never had the Big O with a partner. I'm kind of over all that. BUT! I get it. It's a troupe. What really got me was the conflict scene that caused the riff. It was completely avoidable on the H's part and it just did not make sense. Timing issue.

Anywho. Both MC are cool though. Damien was a sweetheart and despite Nichole's low self esteem she was quite feisty and did not take crap. She definitely had some good qualities going on. So, not a total loss. Happy reading!

Generic romance

Wasn't great. Wasn't bad. It was just a generic, paint-by-numbers romance. It was boring in certain parts, but what was strange to me was the author choose to have several story developments happen "off page" while choosing to present the reader with repetitive inner monologues. Instead of hearing AGAIN about how much the hero wanted to have sex with the heroine or AGAIN about how much the heroine wasn't sure about the hero's intentions, we should have been treated with a dinner scene the heroine mentions in passing. That scene would have furthered along the story, while also presenting an opportunity to build the sexual tension between the H/h. I would have rather read about a sexually charged dinner than more monologues that offered no new insight into the characters' thoughts and motivations. There were several instances of this throughout the book, where the action happens off page.

Also, the characters were just ok. I was intrigued by the premise of this story, but the characters fell flat to me. They felt generic, like cardboard cutouts of standard romance novel character types.

Overall, this was an okay listen. Not a standout book, but if you are looking for standard, generic romance, this book fits the bill.

Sweet takes a saucy turn when hormones come out to play. Scott pushes boundaries, stirs up emotions and keeps the heart invested. Tell Me You're Mine gives the senses a reason to sing. With sexy accents and explosive chemistry, Channing and Powers entrance even the most skeptic of romantics. Scott let's life create the fantasy and irresistible becomes only a page turn away.

This author is obsessed with the insecure heroine. They’re over the top “I don’t know everyone thinks I’m gorgeous.” But not in a confident way. In a weak, not fun to read, way. This book started off promising and all her insecurities and his perfection (except he’s hiding that big secret) ruined the excitement. Plus they’re so formulaic they’re too predictable.

2.5 stars. Poor pacing, super long monologues (spoken and thought) that got boring and had me skimming big stretches, and a very thin, predictable plot. Meh. Also spotted a few errors.

Nope.

It just wasn’t a good pitch. I wasn’t feeling the story within the first few pages. Big company with unknown identical twins where one is CEO; OK. Crisis manager who doesn’t even google the board members before big account pitch; Lol. “Handsome”creep reading her texts on the plane and commenting.... right.; oh and she’s never had an orgasm too - typical.

I can’t!

so DNF.

Life is hard enough. Can’t ruin one of my few pleasures (reading) pls.

Good luck!

Nicole's not normally the type to kiss a gorgeous stranger on a plane. But something about the gorgeous man with the delicious British accent does something to her. Too bad his true identity is a manwhore of insane proportions and his company was the one she had just blown her presentation to.

Damian is smitten as soon as he sits next to the gorgeous, curvy beauty on his flight. Getting her to admit she's as attracted to him as he is to her should be easy, right? But all that attraction isn't going to help him one bit when she finds out who he really is, or who she thinks he is, who he lets the world think he is.

Nicole and Damian are hot together! Even more so once she gets past some of her insecurities. I wanted her to rid herself of some of those insecurities much sooner, but considering what she had gone through, it's understandable. But the way Damian fell so hard, so quickly, for her was quite a story. JS Scott's billionaires and the women who bring them to their knees always make for hot, escapist reading, and Tell Me You're Mine is no exception.

Tell Me You’re Mine is the first book in The British Billionaires series, a swoon worthy and steamy romance that will have you hooked from beginning to end.

In the story we are introduced to Nicole Ashworth, owner of Ashworth Crisis Management a PR company. It hasn’t been long since she took over the company and while it has been successful in the US, she wants to take on some international clients as well. So when she gets the opportunity to fly to London to pitch her services to Lancaster International, Nicole wasn’t expecting to have a plan ready to fix their recent scandal. She froze and left feeling defeated. That’s until she is on her way back to Los Angeles that a gorgeous stranger seats next to her wanting to hear out her story and get to know her. She doesn’t know what he sees in her, she is curvy and not his type. Their kiss is explosive, but they ultimately go their separate ways. Little did she know that she would see him again, this time he would tell her who he really is and to offer her a job that she won’t be able to deny. It would take a turn of events to change their lives forever as they realize just how well they fit with each other.

Damian Lancaster has the looks, wealth and title to get just about any woman he could possibly want. Running a very successful company has kept him busy and his romantic life is non-existent. He has no time for a relationship right now, but meeting Nicole has him completely drawn to her. When they meet on their way to Los Angeles, he is curious about why meeting with his team at Lancaster International left her feeling sad. The more he learns about her, the more Damian starts to realize just how much they have in common. He admires her strength and determination. It was hard to let her go, but she is the only one that he can help him and his company. But there is something that he hasn’t been honest about, something that could damage the relationship and their future together.

I loved reading Tell Me You’re Mine, the characters had such a great chemistry and the story had me intrigued from the start. Damian was such a great character, he is sweet, kind and incredibly caring towards Nicole. Although Nicole has her insecurities to get over, it helps that Damian sees her beauty and is willing to show her just how beautiful she is. When their trust gets put to the test, things begin to shift and they’ll have to decide if pursuing a relationship is worth it or not. I loved the ending, will definitely be seeing more of Damian and Nicole in the second book in the series. I cannot wait to read what J.S. Scott comes up with next. I would highly recommend checking out this story, you won’t regret it. :)

I was hoping it wouldn't be as predictable as it was. Hero with secret manwhore identical twin - I guess it was too much to hope that the heroine would use half the brain cells that she supposedly had.

Even the hero's internal dialogue of "what was she supposed to think" didn't help me think the heroine was nothing short of stupid.

😭 The whole conflict just made me feel sad.

4 stars!

This was my first book by J.S. Scott and it won’t be my last. I love this writing style. Sexy British billionaire meets American PR rep. Damian and Nicole’s connection upon first meeting was so sweet. Like total swoon! I totally fell for Damian from their first encounter. He is gorgeous, cocky, British and wealthy. He also had an extremely sweet side. There were immediate sparks and I loved the connection between them instantly. Damian has a big heart. He is doing his part to help his brother out even that means being being dishonest with the woman he is falling for. I love the family dynamics in this one. Nicole is a confidence, strong young woman. She is hard working and focused. She is taking over her mother’s company after her recent death.
I loved the banter between Nicole and Damian and also the passion and emotion between them. Their connection is beautiful and sweet and there is some light drama that adds an element of suspense and keeps me engaged in the story. I’m a new fan of J.S. Scott’s work and I will be looking for more of her books very soon. I also love the way Damian’s twin brother’s story was set up at the end and cannot wait for his story next. Elizabeth Powers and Rupert Channing brought this story to life with their narration. I truly enjoyed it.

I loved it. It’s nice to read a book where the female character isn’t rail thin. Nicole is a curvy beautiful woman. And Damian loves the way she looks and kisses. But, when he finds out (reading her text messages over her shoulder) Nicole has never had an orgasm with a partner. Damian is ready to fix that Nicole’s problem.
There are some big twists and hot sexy times.
You won’t be disappointed.

Wow, She's Done it Again

What has she done you ask? Made my heart sit in my throat thru the whole story. Made me fall in love with a wonderful billionaire who made me want to jump thru the pages and take Nicole's place.

This was a beautiful romance story from the beginning. You could just watch the love falling from the pages, even if they wouldn't tell each other. Of course we could not have a romance story without some kind of drama.

Cannot wait until the next book!!

This is Nicole and Damon’s story. Nicole has taken over her mother’s company and has taken a trip to the UK to try and branch her pr company out overseas unfortunately a scandal occurs right before her meeting with the board members and she feels as if she completely fails trying to help grow her company. However on her flight home an annoying guy won’t leave her alone until he is able to make her feel at least a tiny bit better. What she doesn’t know is it is Damon who owns the company she just bombed the proposal at. They both feel a simmering connection they both deny or avoid.
.
Overall I really enjoyed this story and watching everything unfold for them. I look forward to more from the author.

A chance encounter between a secretive billionaire and a plus-size PR expert could be the perfect solution to both their problems - or a delicious scandal in the making. This was a lovely sweet romance, billionaire falls for regular woman style and I really enjoyed it. The characters were sweet and very likable, the story line was predictable but engaging that didn't rely on some huge drama, it was just an all over feel good read.

Nichole meets Damian on an airplane after she bombs a presentation to Damian’s board. She ends up telling him all about it after he sees her text to her friend and also sees she has never had an O. She ends up trying to fix Damian’s rep (really twin doing the bad stuff) by pretending to be his girlfriend. Finds out he lied about brother really being the troublemaker before they get together.

I love J S Scott’s billionaire’s. They are strong, alpha and bossy men who when they fall they fall hard and Damian Lancaster fell hard for Nicole Ashworth. Damian and Nicole are a good match, one doesn’t overshadow the other, even though Damian was a bit bossy, he has met his match in Nichole. After a case of mistaken identity with a very unflattering picture, Damian hires Nichole’s crisis management company to help smooth things over for Lancaster, Inc. as his company is taking a hit in the press as a result of the bad publicity. Along the way Nicole and Damian start on a journey neither of them expected. Tell Me You’re Mine is a great start to this British Billionaire series by an author who has a talent for writing about yummy, strong men as well as women who can hold their own.

I absolutely enjoyed the narrator as he did a wonderful job with this story and his accent was excellent! I definitely hope he does the other books in this series as well.

Nicole works in PR as a fixer, and just had a pitch go wrong, which confused me because she didn't quite do her due diligence before the presentation. Anyway, on her way home, she ends up vomiting her emotions to a stranger on the plane, Damien, and then they kiss. Yeah, they have some serious chemistry, but she didn't know who he was, while he wasn't' about to give her his last name. Now, I wouldn't have taken issue with his lack of last name if it was about more than just getting her into bed which is how I felt. Nicole is one of those girls who has insecurities, but let's face it, don't we all in some capacity on the downlow?! And I was okay with a certain amount but there came a time when I was straight up over it, and wanted to shake her since her inner monologue got redundant along with the repeating it all out loud over & over again, but to be fair, Damien's was just as redundant since he only thought pretty much one thing which should have stopped sooner in my opinion. Anyway, I'm not going to keep going since I do love J.S. Scott's books, plus it's only my opinion not fact, so the best thing you can do is decide for yourselves by hitting those one click buttons! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Nicole thought she had prepared herself for anything that Lancaster International would throw at her when she outlined how she could assist them with ways to improve their image however she soon learnt that wasn’t the case. She is headed home feeling disheartened when she meets a sexy stranger on the plane.

Damian is a man who would do anything for those he cares about despite the personal consequence to himself. He is enchanted by Nicole from their first meeting and he just so happens to own the company that she was trying to recruit as a client. They come up with a win-win situation for both of them but will the secret between them be something they can’t overcome?

Damian and Nicole’s journey is filled with heat and some angst but there is no doubting that they are perfect for each other in every way as they help each other realize what truly makes them happy in life and that is each other.

okay this was so GOOD.

so much better than what i was expecting, this was my first j.s scott and certainly won’t be the last.

damien has been covering for his twin brother dylan in every way since dylan went through a tragedy and has gone off the rails since. damien is the sweetest and most selfless brother and he bends himself backwards for his brother who does not appreciate it whatsoever.

he meets nicole on a flight back to the states and sparks fly, that is until nicole sees a picture of him naked and in an otherwise compromising position with a bunch of girls. it’s actually dylan in the picture but damien refuses to tell nicole as he’s protecting his brother.

nicole and damien 🥺 so cute i can’t get enough of them, i loved their back and forth banter and they had such a beautiful connection. that scene when nicole is looking after him during his stress headache just warmed my heart.

when damien finally told dylan to buzz off because he ruined things between him and nicole that was growth right there.

i listened on audio and the narration was so good and kept me engaged the whole way through.
