This is the 2nd Part of the book "Virus Hunter" . Think of it as a book with 900 pages. The book was divided into 3 "sub-book". Must read the 1st book - first.
Great reading. Love it. Looking forward to read the 3rd and last part
The story of Covid-19 is minted into this story which take palace in 2030.

The plot thickens...

The author takes us deeper into the intrigue of tracking another novel virus. Once again China does all in her power to block the information from leaving the country.

Holy Cow! Thriller doesn't begin to address the content of Virus Hunters II. My heart is beating so fast, I am at a loss for words!

Our heroes from the American CDC along with a secret army of young Chinese netizens have raced across the world, narrowly escaping capture and death.

Having succeeded in obtaining part of what they came for, they are now poised at the top of the World trying to get the final pieces and figure out how to get safely home.

I think I'll have a soothing cup of tea to lower my blood pressure before reading the final book!

At the midpoint of the Virus Hunters series, the search for patient zero is heating up!

Drs. Harper Randolph and Li Kwon have slipped into Communist China in the search for the beginnings of this novel virus building its presence in the U.S. The search has led them into China and Tibet while they learn more about this minute menace. The chase heats up as they outwit Chinese Security and the MSS.

Amazing detail about the workings and actions of the Chinese CDC and the Chinese security apparatus provide a deep dive into the inner workings of the Chinese Communist Party and the mindset of the players. Bobby's signature attention to detail and investigation into the organizations and groups which play an active role in the storyline bring structure and foundation to his stories. As usual, his characters drive the story, not letting the story get in the way of the action. I firmly believe that Bobby builds his characters around an idea, fleshing them and bringing firm beliefs and backgrounds wrapped around them until Geppetto/Bobby breathes life into them. From there, the characters build the storyline while Bobby follows their lead. That's as good an explanation as any for the lifelike characters and situations found in his books. Of course, it doesn't hurt that Bobby Akart is a tried and true master storyteller.

Whatever you believe, the inexorable truth is simply that this is a remarkable story told in a truly unique time in history. Master Storyteller or Literary Oracle, Bobby has produced an amazing product for our reading pleasure. You have to read this series!

The life of an epidemiologist is not a glamorous life. They risk their lives by going into dangerous situations not knowing what they are facing but hope their investigation comes up with an answer before the “killer” can cause death and destruction to the world. They work tirelessly and without notoriety. Bobby Akart has brought them to our attention with his newest series, “Virus Hunters” in a chilling way. We get a look at what goes on behind the scenes and see things that the media never allows us to view. As Dr. Harper Randolph and her team try to identify the disease that is not only threatening the United States but the entire world, another force is trying to twart her efforts and those of the CDC. The political ramifications play a big part in this story. The why is yet to be uncovered...
Virus Hunters book two had me on the edge of my seat! Literally! I was getting so mad at the situations the “team” were in in the beginning,I could feel my blood pressure rising.Late in the book, I held my breath so many times as Harper and Dr. Li Kwon who we are introduced to, travel into dangerous territory to try and discover the origin of this deadly virus.Help comes from many allies, some who are totally not what you expect.
This is one my favorite medical thrillers of all time. The Pandemic series being my other favorite. The characters are well written and the story line fast developing. The information given...spot on. Can I honestly recommend this series? Yes...yes...yes!

Hm.m.m.m.m.

I am having difficulty with this series. It is just way way over the top. There are too many over achievers and no regular people. I mean Hadley can do all, be all, know all it just feels like -- I don't know. I am just not feeling it with the Hadley and Joe. Bobby Akart 's books used to be engaging and suspenseful. Now they are predictable.
Of ALL of the people in the CDC they are sending Harper to China to find Patient Zero. The beginning of One chapter it states.... "Who is Patient Zero? No one wants to be the Patient Zero of their village. Just because you are the first to be diagnosed doesn’t mean you started the epidemic. ~ Professor Robert M. Grant, MD". So what good does it make to find this patient. He is dead. More than likely cremated.

Lastly there is Kwon. He is suppose to be a ghost with no paper trail yet he was in the Navy went to MIT worked at Harvard medical and three years ago he joined DARPA? Now he gave up his identity? With his background there is no ghost. He left a huge footprint.

I have complained about the book. What I like is the storyline. But instead of only sending Hadley send people who are qualified to do certain jobs they are competent and most important...trained to do. The writing style in the last couple of series is nothing like his earlier books. 🤔

George Santayana is quoted with saying that “Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it”. The situation with the Covid-19 pandemic and the viral contagion 10 years later brings that statement to mind.
Dr. Harper Randolph is trying to find “patient zero”. The trail leads to the usual suspects. The top of that list is the Chinese. No spoilers here, but if you remember where this all begins in book 1, you know where Harper goes in search of patient zero.
Having read over 40 of Mr. Akart’s books, I have been impressed at how many of his fictional scenarios have become fact. I can only hope that his treatment of the Chinese dissidents will follow that theme.
“The Virus Hunters 2” is a first class medical thriller, especially in these crazy times. Another winner from Bobby Akart.

What a roller coaster ride with a race to find Patient Zero while being impended by the lies of China and the hissy fit actions of the US President. Dr. Harper Randolph and her ally Kwon head to China and then Tibet hoping to find answers to stop this new virus from becoming another worldwide pandemic. Akart knows how to write ripped from the headlines stories using an immense amount of research and character driven plots. I highly recommend this series and all of the other series he has written. They are all edge of your seat stories leaving you flipping or swiping the pages as quickly as you can

Incredibly True

I first read this series about a month ago but when I tried to leave a review it wouldn’t go through. So I ended up reading the first two again. There is always more to learn. Yes, it’s entertaining. It also scares me because it is so accurate. China has become one of our greatest adversaries and we need to awaken to that fact.
Bobby Akart is one of the finest of writers of apocalyptic and medical fiction. I sincerely hope and pray that this series does so well that we have to pay a great deal to buy it and that Mr. Akart hits not only Amazon’s top 25 but the New York Times best seller list!

Great pandemic reading!

Akart has managed to bring us a story that is both informative and intriguing at the same time. It’s amazing the lengths the WHO and CDC go through to bring us the truths of an emerging pandemic despite the many difficulties they go through from political maneuvering of the current administration to traveling to the far regions on the globe to find answers.
The characters feel like people I know and admire and the storyline is dramatic and serious with a little silliness mixed in for fun. Looking forward to the next book in the series

Another great one!

This second part of this 3-book series is even more exciting than the first one. Dr. Randolph is trying to track down the origin of this disease, but she has to fight all the way against people who just want to keep the secrets locked away. I hate to use the old cliche, but it really, really is a page-turner! Why, Mr. Akart, must we wait for the conclusion when we're all stuck in panic mode after the way this book ends?!? I absolutely love your writing/books!

Short, but sweet. The mission to track down patient zero takes Harper to China. Escorting her is the human equivalent of a cyborg. SEAL medic, Harvard Med, MIT double-grad, DARPA. As unrealistic as people may think a person like that is, they'd be surprised. There are absolutely relentless overachievers out there, some who've taken almost that exact same pathway... minus the dangerous undercover trip to China to track down a dead guy the CCP is doing everything to hide. Or, who knows, maybe the real Kwon has.

Bobby did it again!

I got my book yesterday and stayed up half the night to finish it. I'm anxious to read the resolution of the series. It's hard on one hand to believe we are living out a global pandemic storyline as I'm reading about the same idea. Bobby Akart is one of those writers with his finger on the pulse of today's world. It's frightening. Read at your own risk -but read it!

Another great read!

I have read almost every Akart book, and I am always excited when another book on a series becomes available. Virus Hunters will not disappoint you! As always, Mr. Apart has created an in-depth and unfortunately realistic story line, but truth is truly stranger than fiction in today's world. Thank you for providing hours of entertainment as we continue to "shelter in place" .

I know it might be hard to read a book about a virus that is attacking people across the world at this time. But this book is very good. It takes place about 10 years after COVID-19 and refers to it in the book. This is a high tension book and I had a hard time putting it down. I have already started book 3 and the tension builds. When I was done with book 1 and 2 I had to start the next one right away to see what was happening. It is definitely a 5 star book.

virus hunters 2

The second book in this series takes the reader to China. Just the description of life there for medical personnel had me feeling sad for the courage it takes to work under those conditions. The description of what the normal population has to endure had me feeling oppressed just reading about it.
It’s an exciting and dangerous ride for the main characters of this story. It’s an edge of your seat experience for the reader.

A genuine page turner

While reading this book I was lured in by compelling characters and the relevancy of the topic. What makes this book so special is that Mr. Akart knows how to wield a story that both entertains and educates. A novel virus is beginning to ravage the globe and Dr. Harper Randolph is on a mission to stop it - risking her life in the process.

Well, here is another five star of awesomeness by Bobby Akart. This is becoming a habit, lol I really love this story of Harper Randolph and her CDC investigations. Her story gives me a little idea of the CDC goes through to find answers. An excellent, excellent series to read!!

This was a very exciting book 2. As usual, this is well written with few, if any, editing errors. While Harper might be a little on the unrealistically super-doc side, I do like having such a strong female lead character. I also like that this is in our future and they look back at the lessons of Covid-19. Makes for a fun tie-in to our presence.

This series is pretty good at explaining a lot of details regarding pandemics and epidemics. There are a few instances where the facts aren't entirely accurate but i found few of those. For someone who wants to learn about viruses, how and why they are on the rise and what humans are doing to cause the change and those who spend their lives attempting to prevent a worldwide pandemic as the one we have been experiencing in 2020, i would recommend this. For those who know a lot about the subject matter, this is a relaxing and quick read of fictional characters that may provide a break from the non-fictional reading you may have already done. I am currently using this series to break up an 800 page book on Viruses, Plagues, etc. (too much at one time can get a bit depressing.

I really enjoyed reading Book 1 of the Virus Hunters. This one did not quite meet my expectations. I think part of the problem is that I had to wait to get part 2. Once I start reading a book I want a beginning and an end, not have to wait for a second part.
I also believe the authors sometimes lose their creative flair in subsequent books.

This book introduces us to Dr. Li Kwon. He’s Dr. Harper Randolphs protector and helper in her race to find the patient zero. What a wonderful doctor and friend he turns out to be. The Chinese are after them and they get into some really tight spots, (this is where my adrenaline was running hot) but with the help of some people they got out. I couldn’t put the book down and read it one sitting and in fact started on book three.
