You are my shelter and my shield; I put my hope in your word. —Psalm 119:114
When we open our Bibles, we are doing more than simply opening a book. We are answering an invitation to rejoice in the beauty, goodness, and truth of God’s Word. Psalm 119, the longest chapter in the Bible, is a song about God’s law and the psalmist’s desire to obey it. In this two-week Study Book, we will join the psalmist in his song of delight, and we’ll reflect on the joy that is ours as women in the Word of God every day.
She Reads Truth is a worldwide community of women who read God's Word together every day. Founded in 2012, She Reads Truth invites women of all ages to engage Scripture through curated daily reading plans, as well as online conversation led by a vibrant community of contributing writers. This community of “Women in the Word of God every day” represents a long list of cities and countries, a variety of backgrounds and traditions, and countless real-life stories. But there is a commonality that binds us: we believe God's Word is Truth. So we read. Every day we read a new passage together—working our way through books of the Bible, topics that matter, and seasons of the Church calendar. We engage with God's Word and with each other. And we keep coming back, on the hard days and the good days, because God and His Word never change, regardless of our circumstances.
I have been listening to Christy Nockels go through Psalm 119 on her Glorious in the Mundane Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast...) and have loved digging deeper into Gods word so what better work book than this to accompany it! I’ve also loved listening to the SRT podcasts that go along with this study as well as the daily devotions they provide online. The SRT ministry has been a wonderful resource and tool to help me open and read my Bible every day.
Bible studies can be a mixed bag as to whether one finds them helpful and inspiring, probably due mostly to the particular circumstances of one's life at the time of reading. This in-depth look at Psalm 119 focuses on the constancy of God's Word, the way in which he does not forget his promises but does forget our wayfulness, because he wants an intimate relationship with us and wants us to have a lifelong relationship with his Word. Very good.
