"After all, my goddess once told me that resting is part of an adventurer's job."
After going deeper than they've ever gone before and surviving the dangers of the Dungeon, Bell and his companions have more than earned themselves a respite. In the warm sunlight and safety of the surface, everyone has a moment to sit and reflect on just how much they've changed. Bell's thoughts return to the day everything began. Hestia remembers her trials after leaving the heavens. Lilly thinks of the cindery past she has overcome. Welf gazes into the sky but sees days long gone. Eina's scarred heart reminds her of what she's lost. Lyu mulls over her oath to uphold justice. Mikoto and Haruhime relive the peace of their youth. These are the stories of where they all came from and how far they've come...
Similar to volume 8, a great character-focused breather with a clear theme throughout. Honestly, I think I wanted more from every story, especially from my favorite elf...
As much as I love this series, books like this just disappoint me. Going back to the origins of these characters just seems pointless. I prefer reading books that keep a chronological order so that you can enjoy the characters growth. Jumping back to go over their origins just rips you out of the moment and when an entire novel is like this, I tend to feel cheated. Just a personal nitpick I guess.
A needed slow down after 3 volumes full of action. Lots of levelling up, new skills and overall growth. Usually side stories are a bit of a pain to read with very little in terms on content... not this one, went through it very fast!
Nice little in-between the arcs kind of book where the action comes to a screeching halt and let's the characters rest and relax, while also getting in-depth backstories for alot of our fav characters! Definitely worth the read, but I can't wait to see what comes next!
According to the afterword this is mostly a collection of revised short stories originally included with a special edition of the JPN Blu-Ray release. The author evens apologizes since it turned out to be more of a harem (in the Japanese sense) story than he intended.
Essentially this is a collection of alternating POV stories that fill in some holes in the main story. Each story has a prequel and current component. There's also a few chapters that sort of bridge the gap between the prior and subsequent volume.
Overall I like this volume as it allowed the author to focus on the other characters besides Bell. It is a little frustrating that we keep getting sidetracked from what I assume is the major plot arc of the series "Three Great Quests" but I guess it's all just part of Bell's 冒険.
There is no fighting in this volume save the epilogue, so be warned. But it's great backstory and present story work. It's weird to think Bell has been there just 6 months, and most of the action is just the past 4. But seeing how the 37th floor changed them all is fantastic, and even a bit about Hestia mooching off of Hephesitus when she came down (just in the past year as well). So enjoy this relaxed volume. And a reminder, Bell is just 14. For all the shipping (and there is that here too) the young man isn't getting married anytime soon. And we don't know which of our heroines will even be alive at the end. Which is why the epilogue is Elogia, remembering the fallen.
A collection of revised stories from anime disc releases in Japan. Yay, we get something we otherwise wouldn't have. Oh, it is all a bunch of stuff we mostly knew already. I felt like reading about the origins for the most part was just a rehash of things we already knew from reading the series. There were a few bits where some of our newer characters got some new info. Again, being Omori and DanMachi it wasn't terrible, and a new story arc doesn't have to be full of action right away... but this one was a bit of a let down.
One final note -- *smacks Welf upside the head* You dolt, you should have been LISTENING rather than being so obsessed with your new sword.
Just a filler episode, really didn’t add much content at all... 240 pages. Mr. fugino showing he might be lost or uncaring about development now. He said it was meant to be a slice of life but turned into a harem? I guess his idea of a harem is three hugs, it’s just not that romantic so that leaves it being... nothing. I’m a big fan of the Danmachi but this is a huge let down. The last chapter to me was a 5/5. But everything else just felt like reading I’d already done before.
He leído sus últimos capítulos y me gusta como describe lo que piensan los personajes y las acciones en las batallas. Este volumen es un relato combinando el presente con el pasado. Esperare con ansias el volumen 16 porque me gustaría leer sobre batallas.
After all the action from the previous arc, volume 11-14 i believe was the arc. this was a nice break, but left you wanting more of the finely written fight scenes from the previous book, this book shows the pasts and has great charector development but can be a little on the slower side. I was not as draswn in to binge this book as much as previous books though.
It wasn't interesting for those who is looking for new arc, because it was about making the reading realize how far our heroes had gone, and how far they have grown up in these 15 volumes. I really liked how it made me feel like I'm getting older too while reading this volume, especially reading with every release volume by volume, it made me really appreciate this work more than ever
This novel was a slice of life looking at the main characters. It provides a contrast between the present and the past while filling in the important parts of the characters backstory.
I really like how this author can mesh the short stories, even the ones about the past in the case of this book, with the current storyline to make it progress. It was nice to see many characters' beginnings, especially since we could compare it to their progress and experience from the last book.
While I usually skip flashback episodes in anime, the way the flashbacks are mixed into the current timeline of the story was done well enough to keep the story engaging. I burned through this book, maybe a bit too fast.
A 3.5. It's a slice of life volume as already mentioned by the author in the afterword of the previous volume. While its a very quick read, it also sheds light on the pasts of Hestia Familia members. Particularly about Welf and his Crozzo family and how Mikoto and Haruhime knew each other. Every member of the Familia and Lyu also have their own sets of stories. Can be skipped, you won't be missing much but it's still good to know.
Honestly a 3.5 but it's a nice breather volume. You get to expound on what we learned about these characters and solidify on that. It's a slice of life volume
Sencillamente mágico. Es como que te envuelve la narración, te lo imáginas todo y eso que yo leo una traducción, imaginate si lo leyera en su idioma original.
Coming from watching the anime it was a great transition. While this book is mostly a flashback story there are little tidbits that provide some forward progress.
While not bad, I just wasn't as interested in the back stories, especially the ones that were just extended versions of ones that have already been told.
It brought me up to speed about the back story of the characters. I've watched all the video adaptations which moved me into the books. I'm looking forward the continuing story arc..
A nicely crafted volume, where the author digs in the backstory of different characters. One of the strongest points of this saga is their characters, so different and so many, with so beautiful backstories and personalities. Is a joy to see how the author doesn’t neglect their growth and development. Eager to see what will come in the fourth arc.
