Great for kids. Even my five-month-old would occasionally pay attention to me reading this aloud and I cannot wait for her to be older to truly enjoy it.
This is a well-written collection of myths from around the world that are especially fun for reading aloud. They are perfect for a middle-grade reader to read along and yet have been written with care to make the content appropriate and interesting for any age. The illustrations are wonderful. This has been a perfect supplement to our ancient civilization studies and provides the perfect jumping-off point for kids to write their own myths. I highly recommend it as a perfect starting place for introducing kids to the beautiful world of myths.
I have used Zachary Hamby's resources and stories in my classroom (middle and high school) for almost a decade, and I can honestly say I think he's the best mythology teacher out there. His new book, an Introduction to Mythology for Kids, is a fantastic way to introduce young readers to the stories of our world.
His retellings are accessible, entertaining, and unique. The art is killer. This is not a collection of stories you've heard a thousand times; Zachary's depth of knowledge in the field is evident as soon as you read the Table of Contents. Such a diverse and fun batch of tales. I really can't recommend this book highly enough.
It will get your kids hooked on mythology and hungry for more.
I like the diversity of myths. Very curious how they choose which stories to include but you can definitely see how some cultures prioritize certain things based on the folklore they shaped their culture.
This has some of the most intriguing myths inside and is perfect for everyone of all ages. Any mythology lover would love this book and I definitely think it’s a good place to start getting into world mythology.
