Man In Chains - 2 Blurb Not everyone gets to follow their heart. Some of us have no choice but to give up what we’d hoped to be, for the chance of becoming something other. As a young man, Vince chose the responsibility of parenthood and marriage over everything. Fifteen years and three children later, his life is far from being as satisfying as he’d planned. Finding solace in a pottery class he discovers by chance, Vince becomes friends with a woman who’s everything his uncaring wife is not. Despite the feelings, he’ll never be the one to risk his marriage, regardless of the problems they share. For Catya, the security of a stable home is everything. It allowed her to be carefree, unbothered and unavailable... as far as her family is concerned. She married because ‘It was the right thing to do’, and who in their right mind would throw Vince Marcello away? Being a wife and mother while struggling to be like her friends, isn’t working for her. When she discovers her husband enjoying another woman’s company, her carefully ordered world falls apart. Cracks that were nothing more than whispers of distress, become gaping holes, proof she’d abandoned her family years before Vince smiled for another woman. But Ashanti isn’t at all like Catya thinks. For one, she’d never steal another woman’s man; she’s seen first-hand the catastrophe that can cause. She also knows Vince isn’t that person. When confronted by his wife, the accusations take her by surprise. A devastating accident shifts their world, and Catya finds that the one woman she despises above all others, becomes the closest friend she could ever hope to have. She finds solace in Ashanti in ways she never expected. All three must come to terms with the new dynamic. They’ll learn that love which burns slowly, is often the greatest love of all.

Enjoyed!

The storyline was good but I felt sorry for Vince to put up with his wife. The woman she accused of having an affair with her husband had to end up caring for her.

Could have been fantastic

The range of emotions covered as well as the description of a disintegrating marriage were very interesting. The reversal of friendship between Vince, Ashanti and Catya was extraordinary. My heart ached for Vince and the kids because clearly he was trying his best and trying to stay true to his vows but he had to face a daily “car crash”. Unfortunately the book was too much of a huis clos. For instance we know nothing of who Ashanti is as a person. Does she have family? Other friends? Interests? Catya’s “friends” disappeared but it would have been good for the book to have a few awkward scenes with them. What about Catya’s family? I am sure they had something to say about Ashanti basically moving in. As for Vince, I really missed his exchanges with his brothers. The book made it feel as if he was isolated and had nobody. The ending also felt rushed. I know Ashanti basically lived there but how did they ell the kids about their relationship? How did they build that relationship with the potential guilt? How did the families react etc..

The strange twist in life

Unique words, LLC recommends a book with Vince who is a Mr. Do right no matter how miserable he is when it comes to his wife catya. He puts his feelings all into his 3 kids especially antonio the first born who from the moment they cut the ubillical cord his mother disconnects from him as well. Vince stumbles upon something else that also makes him happy and feeling good which is pottery and he makes a friend, but being happy doesn't make his wife catya happy. She doesn't love Vince but she loves the life she has though some may call her selfish, cold-hearted, and someone that needs therapy ASAP she only cares about catya and her daughter and youngest son maybe 5%. Catya messes up from stalking to accusing asha of adultery to ending up in the hospital and from there things go from bad to worse. It is at this point that Sara Allen brings this book fully to life and as everyone lives get connected into one big ball you will be amazed at the different turn this story takes and finish having enjoyed a good book

A Powerfully Heartfelt Tale...

When I first saw Catya in the first book in this series, I thought that she was a spoiled, selfish brat, and then this was proven in this book, but how odd to have fallen for her anyway and felt such sorrow at her passing. Like Asha, I fell in love with Catya brat and all. It was nice that this dysfunctional family was able to heal, move on, and grow with time.
Although his presence is brief in both books, I felt Vincenzo Seniors presence and love for his family and am interested in seeing him again in the third book in the series.
