What happens if you fall for your boss?

Romi has given up on love after one too many heartbreaks. She’s determined to stay focused and chase her passions—out of the bedroom—and that starts with her new job. Too bad she’s immediately captivated by her older, sensual boss.

Kiera has never let herself take a chance on love. She’s done just fine on her own, building a successful business from the ground up. The last thing she wants is to fall for her younger, gorgeous employee.

Opposites attract, right? When Romi realizes how much Kiera needs her, she can’t help but take the risk.

Kiera’s resolution not to get involved doesn't stand a chance against the unpredictable spark of passion that quickly turns into something else. She’s going to have to be honest. Not just with herself, but with everyone else as well.

is a solid 3.5 reading for me, not a complete 4 stars due to the fact that some dialogues are unrealistically long (not all of them!) but both the plot and characters were great!

These two women are completely different from one another: Romi is a younger, shy but kind and gentle soul who falls in love with Kiera, her 33 years old boss. Kiera is almost cynical, loner, she doesn't believe in love and she's intimately scared to tell her parents who she is. She's devoted to her job, her business and that's all.
Until she meets Romi, with her bubbly personality and big heart.
These are not flat/paper protagonists, not at all. You'll love them too.

It's hilarious how down bad the main characters are for each other right from the beginning. Seriously, it felt like the first two or three chapters were chopped off.

Left me wanting, but it wasn't bad. Just lacking.

That epilogue is WILD

I enjoyed the premise of this book as it was one I hadn’t encountered before. Set in an antiques mall the book explores the relationship of Romi and Kiera. Both have reasons to avoid the relationship, but the book doesn’t have a major slow burn vibe as there are enough things going on to keep the story flowing. The world and character building are done really well and you can empathise with how both MCs got to where they are. I really enjoyed both MCs interactions with their parents, though very different, the alternating viewpoints work very well and the epilogue left me feeling warm and fuzzy.

As far as I can tell this is the authors first book, but I couldn’t tell. I hope there will be more and I look forward to reading them.

Synopsis seemed so interesting but as I read I saw myself skimming the words than having the novel soak in. I think the concept for a decent story is there, however there is too much filler to truly enjoy a good romance between two females who just want to find love. DNF at 56%. (I tried to keep going but sometimes you just have to throw in the towel!)

I‘m a sucker for age-gap stories so I definitely had to read this. I liked it very much. There wasn’t too much angst in it which I appreciate very much in times like these. Yes the book could use some corrections like for example the change of a name but this didn’t prevent me from enjoying the story. I especially loved the epilogue. And not to forget we all should have a Wynn in our lives. ☺️

Ms. Woods does a great job of intertwining the world of antiques and "picking" with a slow burn, age gap romance. Romi and Kiera's storyline easily drew me in. There is romance, a healthy dose of sex and a touch of angst making this a quick, worthwhile read. A nifty escape from life in today's troubled world.

Awesome Story!

I really enjoyed this book. It was a very lite yet delicate read. We are all faced with tough decisions and we know we need to go at our own pace but it definitely is nice when you have a supportive family and partner. It reminds us that fear sometimes manifest more in our heads. Characters are wonderful. Great Read!

Older / younger, Boss / employee - a good novel which laid down a difficult path but chose to take the easy option! Found it unexpectedly moving.

One page she is hating her life, two pages down she is happy as a calm, four pages down they had kids and are married.

I liked at first but man the story was too fucking rush, the drama wasn't on it and the romance? Mehhh

This is a really nice slow burn romance with believable, lovable main and side characters. The plot is interesting and the setting helps to give it life, too. It has this real life feel about it, but I think it could have done without the break-up so shortly before the end, that was really too much.

Yes, most of us will have a memory of a situation, when projecting our fears has been crippling our action. Denying yourself love out of fear, though, is a bit immature for a successful 30 something business woman. With a slightly different, quicker and more mature solution at the end, this would definitively have been a five star rating for me.

Good story, but needs major editing!

Good story revolving around an antiques mall which was a new storyline for me. Romi is just delightful, but Kiera is so filled with fear that she keeps perpetuating lies about herself. It takes a grandfatherly figure to convince her to love the life she is meant to have. Although the story is good, it needs major, major editing and proofreading!

Abandoned: I was enjoying this just fine up to almost two-thirds. But then it turned into a sex romp where hormones drove choices that didn't align with their internal integrity. In addition to losing respect for the protagonists, I lost my engagement with wanting to see the relationship through. I liked them a lot. Particularly the cheerful and determined Romi. But I was alreayd fighting Kiera's irrational negative motivation* so having Romi go all, "I shouldn't, but I can't keep my hands off her" broke me.

* Negative Motivations: I kind of hate that the term "negative motivation" isn't widespread, yet. Since it isn't, I'm going to save off this little jag to append to my reviews that feature the term. Jennifer Crusie blogged about it a bit back (or, if that link doesn't work, here's a cache of the original) and it changed how I understand story. The problem with the term is that if you've never heard it before, you'd assume it meant motivations that are harmful or immoral. Not so. What it refers to is motivations not to do something. The thing is that many of us are motivated to not do things for a lot of different, perfectly valid and reasonable, reasons. The problem is that in a story motivations to not do things are a huge drag on the plot—particularly considering the fact that most negative motivations are overcome by the character simply deciding they don't care any more (or, rather, that they do care and are now motivated to do the thing). So not only do you have a counter to action but you also have a situation where to overcome it, all a character has to do is change their mind. Which means eventually, the reader is rooting for the character to get over him/herself already and do the thing we want them to do. Conflict drives story. Conflict between a reader and a main character drives readers away from story.

Book: Finding Her Treasure
Rating: 4 Stars
Favorite Quote: "Ordinary, I can’t believe you’d even use that word. You’re so far from ordinary. You make me dream about all the things that could be possible. Things I never thought I’d be brave enough to do or could ever have. You’re anything but ordinary.”

Awww this was such a sweet romance, I loved it so much.

This book follows, Kiera an owner of an antiuque shop and Romi, her new assistant. Kiera was not too happy with the thought of Romi working at her shop as it brought up feelings that she tried to bury, but as the days went on she could not help on act on her attraction to Romi.

At first I was not too excited about this because it seemed like the usual gay romance plot, someone in the closet having a fake straight relationship to keep their idenity a secret while falling for someone of the same sex anyways. The plot was still very much like that but I did enjoy this. Romi had such a cute personality, she was so sweet and quirky. Kiera was tough but also had a sweet interior and in all they had good chemistry; I truly loved them together.

The only critism I would say about this book was that, Alexa was quite repititive sometimes. I felt I was rereading information I already knew mutiple times. And when Kiera broke up with Romi because she could not tell her parents about her idenity just for one chapter later, for her to tell her parents and for them to get back together. It felt kind of not needed and mindless.

Otherwise that I really enjoyed this and wished it was longer!

this is with out a dought a sweet age gap les fic, i'll get the criteec out of the way and its romi i did become concerned that she was to perfect ( don't shoot me im only the mesenger) the fact that this was a slow burn with not much angst was indeed good for me,although wynn hired her with out kieras say so ruffald my feathers. and i have to say the foot problem that romi suffered showed ealy on that kiera had more feeling for romi than employer and employee, and wynn was always going to be in the picture later on and i suspected there was a family conection with kiera the scene near the end when he took it on himself to help with the kiera romi problem was just was she needed, i couldent see her telling her parents on her own when she'd try'd so meany times beforethe scene after the tea party was just perfect and so sweet i was almost on the verge of crying, the breakup was just to much for me and i was crying like a baby, the epiloge didnt exite me, i would have liked to be involved with the nuptuals and the dresses and indeed the meeting of both sets of parent, but to end this review i loved both the main m/c s,

Slow-Burn Romance

This is a delightful story with two strong female characters who both seem very real. While sometimes I think they overdo the antique store trope in novels, I actually thought it was well executed in this one compared to most. A silly thing, perhaps, to comment upon first in a story like this, but I ran a retail store for over 10 years, so I appreciate the authenticity. Usually, retail is not typically shown like it actually is. This one was actually pretty close. Both female leads have reasons to not want a relationship. One is decidedly in the closet (going so far as to have a fake hetero, for-looks-only relationship) while the other is not. This romance is a slow build, which is fun to watch, but then I thought it flipped perhaps a little too quickly to a full-on relationship. Still, I found this to be a fun, enjoyable read.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

3.5 Stars. This was a cute story with interesting characters and they have good chemistry that’s nice to read. The dialogue can be a little stilted sometimes but their romance is a nice little grumpy/sunshine whirlwind.

Unfortunately the story’s enjoyment kind of evaporated for me towards the end. The primary issue I had with this story was the way it handled homophobia and the coming out arc of one of the main characters. I felt like it tried but missed the mark with the MC just self-gaslighting herself about how traumatic being a lesbian with homophobic, conservative parents was for her just so the story could have some resolution. For this reason the last 20-25% of the book was frustrating to read and not at all satisfying.

It’s hard to say if I’d recommend this book or not because I did enjoy most of it but the above issue made me want to throw my kindle out the window.

Some romances somehow manage to avoid the biggest bumps and hurdles and progress towards longer term commitments organically, with relatively little fuss or drama

When a relationship includes one person discovering and admitting to themselves and others that they are now a commercial couple with 2.5 children and hetero connections, things can be more complicated

Having an established business and community profile that don’t include a rainbow flag on the front porch can make essential things easy to worry about or fear.

These two find their way in part because of the fear, and because of the love, and because of sometimes taking the risk on more

Intense and drama filled romance

i love the concept but the execution is a little...well, i mean i get that true love spark in the story but i dont think Romi is the type who jumps in and just have sex. She's mentioned a few times she's being cautious, and she seems like one who thinks things through, so it was a little weird for me that she had sex with K without doing the whole dating thing. I pretty much lost interest because of that, but I do love the contrast between the two MC and their interaction before getting together!

When two women get together there can be many confusing and doubtful times. That is what brought this story into being! They were so unsure of what they were doing that doubts almost broke them apart!

HEARTWARMINGLY GENUINE!!

I read a lot of Lesfic, and it's usually trite and full of graphic sex scenes. Not this one. I loved both characters, the way they came together in the story. I was just as invested as they were for the whole ride. I could feel their fears and insecurities. There were some surprises, too. Read this book, you'll love it!

So Many Typos

The book was great, but so much repetition saying the same things over and over. Also, I am stunned at the amount of typos. I can’t believe someone would actually let this book be released with the amount of typos in it. Other than those two things it was good.

A coming out story

An emotional journey through the two sides of a coming out tale. One- who found herself early, and the other- who was terrified she might lose everything if she admitted who she was.
