Stacked Deck #7

Seven Card Stud

Rate this book
Jamie Kincaid is a middleweight fighter, born to fighting royalty, and a shoo-in to be the next champion in the world-class Stacked Deck tournament.

He’s a flirt. A romantic. A little too loose with his female companions, so when his cousins casually mention he needs to let one go before he hooks another— they’re not kidding.

But beneath his friendly ways with the female population, is a mission; Jamie is looking for his one true love.

His mom and daddy met when they were just children. So now he has some catching up to do, and if he breaks a few hearts in his quest for love... well, he’s really sorry. He didn’t mean to hurt anyone’s feelings.

Cameron Quinn is a cynic born on the wrong side of the tracks, to the wrong family, in the wrong city, and she’s been slammed so many times in life, she knows there’s no such thing a genuine kindness.

There’s always a catch.

When she meets a third generation fighting champion, she’s certain it’ll end with an explosion. So why bother?

Cam is in town for only one week. One tournament. One big payday. Then she’s gone and she can forget all about the olive-tanned fighter with the panty-melting grin and eyes that speak of happiness.

She can do this, right?

She won’t fall for him. She refuses. Because despite what he tells her, true love doesn’t exist.

“You make it easy, you know?”
I tilt my head to the side with curiosity. “Make what easy?”
“Falling in love.”

My bets for what's to come: a kind of remake of Sammy and Scotch duet + unexpected pregnancy/surprise baby trope.

Jamie had been mentioned too little in this spin-off, being very elusive and vague about his whereabouts so I was curious about this story, but I can say that this one is my least favorite so far. I liked the reversed grumpy-sunshine trope and the characters, –even when at first I wasn't so sure about Jaime–, and this must be one of the funniest in the series because the clown gene is strong in this Kincaid, but the development of the story and that ending left me wanting and waiting for more.

My favorite parts:
— Izzy and Jimmy as parents
— Miles and Lyss coming to Rollertown and Lucy's secret exploding from another perspective
— Cam fangirling about Sophia because honestly SAME
— the hints about Livy's book??? did you say age gap 👀??
— Izzy and Sophia ending that Baker bastatd god I love women SO much

Holy CRAP!!!!!!

I...I can’t. What!? Jamie...my Stacked Deck love...you make me swoon & fall so easily in love (it’s ok, Jack knows). You are so perfect & sweet & 100% Kincaid. What more could a woman ask for? How does any woman in your world stand a chance!? Cam...girl...you are badass. You’re witty & determined & such a survivor! You’re also pretty dadgum funny. I might have a girl crush.
This installment into the Stacked Deck series does NOT need to be missed. Let’s put aside that my opinion is skewed bc of the fact that I’m a little partial to Jamie & have been for a while. This story needs to be told!! He is perfect!! Did I say that already? I still have butterflies in my stomach.
Every book I’ve read by Emilia Finn makes me feel. Real emotions y’all. Jump on board the Finn train & buckle up!! I absolutely can’t wait for more...soooooo good!

Finn at her best.....

The kind of book that leaves you wanting more....... Emilia’s books are always filled with characters and love that makes you swoon, laugh, sigh, get mad, cry.... books that are a one click for me and the ones I look forward to in between all the dark romances and angst.!!! And damn did she deliver on this one......

Jamie Kincaid is a 3rd generation fighter... it’s in his blood.... equally as much as being a “lover” who is searching for the other half of his soul to complete him - and Jamie’s been searching for that ever since he worked out what it meant. When a Kincaid knows, they know. And Jamie knows when he meets Cameron Quinn that she’s the one holding the other half. Sparks fly. Jamie does what Kincaid’s do best - make you realise you’re in love with them (not sure if I’m talking me or Cam here because I’m definitely swooning 🙊)

Cam is a beautifully strong woman who hides a mysterious past that you know holds secrets and a lot more pain than she lets on. Together with her older brother, they scrape together the money they need to enter the Stacked Deck fighting tournament in the hope of changing their lives and what’s been the story of their life.... but it’s not the smooth sailing and the ride into the sunset that everyone had thought was on the horizon.

There’s drama and mystery and amazingly entertaining banter between the characters that had me laughing out loud. This is Finn at her best. Bring on the next book.

I am gobsmacked with this book. At first I was like mmmm... not sure I can read a book where the main man is an ass. But, having read all of this authors books i continued on. Thank the heavens I did because Jamie is just misunderstood. He is actually really damn sweet, kind, funny and searching for his one and only just like his daddy found his love so early in life.
Cam has been knocked down so many times in life. You dont actually know by what but you get the feels from her that she wants to let go and be free and available but she is holding a huge secret. One that could distroy her and her brother Will. I wish she was able to open up to jamie but totally understand that all will be reveled in the next book.
Im not usually one for cliff hanger books but again, Emilia sucks you in and doesnt let go. She keeps you turning the page, devouring each word because you cant help but want to know what happens next, and at the same time not wanting it to end too soon. It is awesome that she includes other characters from previous books into each and every book so you get a full picture of what happened behind the scenes after major events in previous books. They are all so entwined you really do feel apart of this world.
Absolutely need to reread.

The Seven Card Stud book is book seven of the Stacked Deck Series, a spinoff of the Rollin On series. This series focuses on the second generation of the characters in The Rollin On series. All by the same author Emilia Finn. Please start with the Rollin On Series, PLEASE. I cannot stress that enough. It is not required, but it makes these so much better. You need all the background from the first series.

I can honestly say that these books are getting better with each one. The book is about Jamie Kincaid and Quinn’s story. It is everything you are looking for in a great read. This book made me laugh, made me frustrated, and sad. We first meet Jamie as a kid in the Rollin On series, but we see him as an adult in the Stacked Deck series from Book one. We do not meet Quinn until this book, and she is a mystery. We learn throughout the book, which covers a couple of years that she and Jamie meet a time back. This romance blooms fast in a week and is fun and beautiful.
The character development was good and well thought out; it built on the reader's knowledge from previous books.

This book does not have a HEA, and it does have a cliffhanger.

Absolutely Addictive!

The Stacked Deck series is so damn good! This book made me laugh out loud more times then I can count; it had all the feels you could ask for; I cheered for Jamie and Cam and felt like I really KNEW them; it made me incredibly sad to read the final page and SO excited for the next book! Seriously, you can’t go wrong with anything this author writes because she writes from her heart and soul and effortlessly manages to take all of her lucky readers on the journey with her. Anytime a new book comes out from her I automatically get it because I KNOW I’m gonna love it. I dearly hope that this wonderful author never stops writing books, especially series like this, series that make you feel like you’re part of the family you’re reading about, because the world desperately needs people like her to help us all carve out a little “me” time, in this crazy world we’re living in. It doesn’t get much better then this!

Wow

So many feelings. This book takes place when Jamie is 17 and then 18 years old. Its amazing and sweet and funny... and I thought i wouldn't really enjoy it because they're so young and its kinda creepy rooting for teenagers to settle down rogether... but i loved every second of this ride. Jamie is his daddy's son-loyal and a fighter, he's a Kincaid through and through (when you know, you just know). But he's his momma's boy too. Cam is fierce and independent but she loves her brother and she reminds of Sophia and Bean and even a little bit of Tink. I need more Will, and more Cameron Quinn and Jamie Kincaid. I love the Stacked Deck tournament and the week leading up to the fights. I love the families. Their love and their loyalty and their tolerance.
Emilia is an amazing writer. She's created this world of fighters and thugs, families and friendships, that sucks you in so hard you drop everything to be a part of it. Truly outstanding.

Heart Pounding

I had no idea what a world I was entering when I read my very first Emilia Finn book! Now after following the original Rollers, their extended family, the Checkmate family and now the second generation Rollers through so many incredible books you feel like you are a part of the family. Reading this first installment of Jamie and Cam’s story, you identify with Cam and her brother and the hard life they live. My heart soared while devouring this book because you got so many glimpses of how Jamie’s life was shaped by the original characters you fell in love with. The reminder of past events that are parallels to Cam’s life and the life of original Bryan and Nellie showcase the amazing talent of Emilia Finn to bring things full circle once again. So good you will lose sleep!

The Romantic Fighter

This story spans two seasons of Stacked Deck and ends on a cliffhanger.

For this book, we're back to fighting, and the tournament. But as the other books have been, this is more than just fighting. Jamie Kincaid, while a fighter, is a true romantic. It's hard not to fall in love with his innocence and grand declarations of love. And his efforts to prove it - all he needs is a kiss, just 1 kiss.

Cam is frustrating, but with reason. She lives a hard life, and when things are the way they are for her, it's hard to accept something good, especially knowing it won't last - when she only has 1 week before she has to return home.

These two characters were so well written and as their combined and individual stories progress, I only became more and more invested.

All I can say is...wow

Every now and again you find an author that has you fully invested in her book. You just know how it will end. You loved the relationship between the two characters, and you can't wait for you to read about the happy ever after. Then bam you get to the end and your left with your mouth hanging open and the only thing you can say is..wow never saw that coming! When an author can make you become invested and turn around and make you question what just happened you know you've read greatness. Can not wait for the next novel because I have to know what happened. Emilia Finn great writing as usual..but all I can still say is Wow!!

Another winner!!

Just when I think it can’t get any better, it does. Emilia Finn proves over and over again how you write amazing characters. She continues to make us fall deeper in love with her characters and wish we were a part of their family.
Jamie and Cam couldn’t be more different but allow themselves one week to find happiness. Will their differences keep them together or will secrets tear them apart.
I love how this book took us back and answered some questions we had from the last few books. I love that we get to keep learning more and more about the Roller families. Can’t wait for the next one!! 💜

Finally!

Finally one of the books in this series had some drama. I knew someone thing was fishy with the Quinn siblings but I didn’t expect that! Nice little twist at the end to keep me wanting more. One issue I’m having with this series is the Baker brothers. I don’t understand how they became so vile. Especially Kyle... he was the leveled headed one and then all of a sudden he becomes a creeper making dirty passes at a 17 year old girl. I thought he went to jail for defending a woman and now he is goes out of his way to Harris and exploit women. It’s like the author forgot how she introduced him in the first and second book.

Oh my gosh!! Jamie will melt your heart. He has so much love to give and loves hard but is all in. Found his one the way his dad found his mom. I laughed so much as Jamie’s crazy antics in this book and the banter back and forth with him and Cam and anyone else he came in contact with. He is such a loving guy. I really was not expecting the ending and now have to wait until the next book. I have read ever one of Emilia Finns books and have loved each and every one. I really love how each series though different from the others but still is inter woven together through all of the characters in every series, makes it all that much more real in interesting to read.

Unexpected Awesomeness!!!!!!

I wasn’t convinced that I would love a book about a kid we’ve only really heard about by name. I was wrong. It was so good. I was afraid that since we haven’t gone in their childhood journeys like we did with Smalls, Bean, Mac, and Ben. We watched them grow up but these standby characters haven’t been featured really in the other stories. I do wish we had more insight to the kids as they grow up but it was easy to fall in love with Jamie. I cannot wait for the next book. We were left with an amazing cliffhanger and the next book is set Is set up perfectly.

I started this book. Read the prologue and just somehow knew it was going to be cliffhanger/duet so I put it down. I was right. Waited months to pick it up again. I loved Jamie. He was funny and charming. I loved how he knew and wasn't giving up. But Cam rubbed me the wrong way. I get it wrong side of the tracks and was leaving town but she irked me. And her relationship with her brother isn't healthy. I get it is a fictional world but this was even too much for me in a fake world. I liked it enough to pick up the second book but I am getting Meg and Marc vibes from this one and that isn't good for me.

Falling in love

Its always hard write a review for one of Emilias books and not give too much away. Jamie Kincaid will get you. Thats all you gotta know. But I found myself falling for someone whose story we have heard as well as someone new to the scene. There are so many moving parts to this world and I am in constant awe of how Emilia makes them all work so well. Waiting for the next piece to our ever growing puzzle. This is another must read in the long line of amazing books she has written.

Seven card Stud

I don’t even know where to begin! The love I have at this moment for the entire Roller world is something only someone who has read these books can understand! My love affair started with Kit and Bobby and has followed all the way thru to the next generation. I know you aren’t supposed to love more than one man at a time but I just love them all!! I want to be loved by them, be friends with them, I might even join the gym for them! LOVE LOVE LOVE!! I am on pins and needles now waiting for November!!

So many feels!

OMG! I loved this book so much! I laughed a lot reading this book, but also wanted to cry in several parts. It was great to see more of a few faves from previous, especially a sweet little princess and a badass dancer, but it was also great to meet new characters. The ending has left me on tenterhooks and I cannot wait to find out what happens in Crazy Eights. Emilia has done it once again, made me fall in love with more characters and want to go visit this fictional world x

Oh man what have you done to us! This has got to be the best book from the stacked deck series. Jamie the cheeky charming Kincaid!
He didn’t have much interaction with his dad in this book so didn’t sound like he had a close relationship with him!?! No mention of his uncles or cousins really, no hanging out with them. In was just concentrating on the relationship between him and cam. It’s not set in the present time of the series like the other books.
So maybe the next one will be when he reconnects with her?
I have such high hopes for the next book I really hope it delivers!

Oh how I love this series!!!!

I love all of these books! I love the Rollers and the Bishops 💕. Jamie is funny and sweet and definitely goes after what he wants full throttle. I mean, when you know, you know 🥰. I love how all the characters intertwine and are never far away. I even really enjoyed reading about the stacked deck tournament from a different perspective. Put a new spin on a story I already loved and was invested in. Such good writing that completely sucks you in. Now off to start book 8! I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I need #8 now!!

Geez...I had no idea Emilia Finn could turn a series on it's head in such a crazy way! Wait, yes I did (see Checkmate series). This woman grabs you and pulls you in to her stories in the best (and sometimes worst) ways. How I'm going to wait for the conclusion is beyond me. If you haven't read this or any of the others, you are so missing out. Read them right now!!

Oh. My. God.

What?? Emilia Finn has done it again!! When a Kincaid knows, he knows. Jaime Kincaid has an epic love story to live up to. His parents fell in love when they were barely out of diapers. He is already practically ancient at 17 so he is falling behind. Then, out of nowhere, comes "The One". Only " The One" has secrets. Secrets so big they may not be able to overcome. Is this a fairy tale or a Shakespearean tragedy?

Amazing as usual

This book was amazing however I am mad at myself. I jumped into it without reading anything ahead of time and it ends on a cliffhanger. I am the person that will buy it then wait for the second one to come out so that when I read it I don’t have to wait and worry (Cons of being an extremely anxious individual) Now I have to wait one month and three days to get the answers to my questions. Check on your anxious friends.. we are not okay!

Emilia does it again

There is a reason this author has such diehard fans. She takes you on a roller-coaster ride of emotions & gets you so personally involved with all the characters. Although I’ve read all the books in the Stacked Deck series, Emilia threw us a curve and set this book a few years in the past...so now I feel like I need to go back & re-read some of the previous books to see if these characters were mentioned before.....oh well, that’s not a hardship either!

All the stars!!!!

I don't have the words for this roller coaster ride! Amazing, just doesn't cut it . Never ever does Ms. Emilia disappoint! Jamie is so lovable and sweet. Cam is the girl you can't help but cheer for and together these two are magic. I loved going back in time and I'm also eager to see the future for not just them but Will also. His devotion to his sister makes me already love him too. Another wondrous journey!!!

Emilia Finn, my favorite author, has done it again. “It” being write ANOTHER book that just simply knocks you off your feet! Every book in this series starting from the OG rollers thru the survivors, checkmate and now stacked deck are just AMAZING. If you haven’t started these books take some vacation days and get to reading. She NEVER disappoints and you will be so drawn into this world she has created you won’t want to leave. She Does It Once Again!!

Each time I finish her last book, I always think there is no way Emilia can top this, I am always wrong. This time, I was more than wrong. Nothing could have prepared me for the emotional journey of Seven Card Stud. I laughed, I cried, oh did I fall in love!! You can never go wrong with an Emilia Finn story, but this just may be my favorite yet!! If you've never read one, you are missing out!!
