Savannah Skies #2

Promises to Keep

Rate this book
In this heartwarming sequel to Promises of the Heart in the Savannah Skies series, USA Today bestselling author Nan Rossiter returns to Tybee Island off the Georgia coast to focus on beloved characters Maeve and Gage as their relationship is tested by secrets they are keeping from each other.

Thirty-four-year-old Maeve Lindstrom loves her job at Willow Pond Senior Care. Her older sister Macey thinks Maeve is the only human being on earth who can make working in a nursing home sound like fun. Maeve enjoys being around the sundowners, as she calls them, helping them navigate their senior years—brightening a time that can be, all too often, a lonely, sad stage of life.

Thirty-three-year-old Gage Tennyson—who brings his mischievous yellow Lab, Gus, to whatever restoration job he is working on with Macey’s husband, Ben—loves Maeve with all his heart. He’s a handsome country boy and a true southern gentleman. But as he and Maeve grow closer, they both sense that they haven’t been completely forthcoming about their pasts.

When Maeve realizes Gage might be planning to propose, she knows she must finally be honest with everyone she holds dear. She can no longer live with the secret she’s been dragging around like an anchor, and she knows the only way she will be free to build a lifetime relationship with Gage is to risk everything—including his (and her family’s) love and respect. Before she finds the courage, however, her past comes careening into her life in a shocking and unexpected way.

Meh! I thought it was ok but not as good as the first in the series... I was a bit disappointed in Gage's reaction. Not that it wasn't possible, but that I had higher hopes for him as a character.

Happy Reading!

PROMISES TO KEEP is a lovely novel. It is very easy to picture the entire story! It concerns two lovelorn folks as they go through life heading to an eventual wedding. I really enjoyed this read!

"Everything happens for a reason. God has a plan." Nan Rossiter writes wonderful Christian-based, heart-warming stories about family issues. This is the second book in her Savannah Skies series which center around two sisters, Macey and Maeve Lindstrom and their family. The focus here is on Maeve this time around and the theme is forgiveness. Maeve has a secret in her past that she hasn't told anyone, not even her family. But as she and her boyfriend Gage become more serious about their relationship, should she reveal all? To tell any more about the plot would be to give too much away. I would call this 'feel good' romantic fiction but keep the hankies handy!

I received an arc of this new novel from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Many thanks for the opportunity and for bringing me back to Nan Rossiter's books!

Thanks #NetGalley @HarperPerennial for a complimentary eARC of #PromisesToKeep upon my request. All opinions are my own. Promises to Keep is a sequel to Promises of the Heart in the Savannah Skies series. It can be read as a stand-alone (although it’s always a richer reading experience to have read the first in the series).

Set in the South (Georgia), this story finds thirty-something Maeve working in a private nursing home and enjoying a relationship with her handsome boyfriend, Gage, who works construction and adores his dog, Gus. Complications arise when they realize that they’ve been keeping secrets from each other about their past. Can they save their relationship?

Overall, Promises to Keep is a heartwarming and engaging uplit romance told from a Christian perspective with characters to cheer for.

In between reading some heavier reads, I appreciate a simply-told story with a cast of likable characters and a rural, small-town setting! I love the themes of friendship, forgiveness, grief, second chances, honesty, secrets, a supportive community, and family loyalty. I appreciate that this romance also includes some meaningful content dealing with elder care, a secret of the past coming back to turn your life upside down, grief, a difficult family relationship, and communication/relationship challenges. Although neatly tied up in the end, the various storylines were interesting, compelling, and seemed realistic to me.

***may contain spoilers***
Content Consideration: teenage pregnancy, adoption, death of a parent, death of a grandparent, grief

I recommend Promises to Keep for readers who are looking for light, uplit reads with poignant themes, for fans of romance (mostly closed door) and HEA, and for fans of stories that include a Christian perspective.

This was a second book in a heartwarming series by Nan Rossiter focusing on a family in Savannah. In this book the author focuses on the younger sister and her relationships with the people in the senior center where she works and the young man who works for her brother-in-law. While they become close they both discover that they have secrets they have hidden from each other. As these issues unfold they are both faced with the difficulties of moving forward in their lives until they are able to forgive. With the support of both their families and their faith they learn to grow in their love. I found this book easy to read and there was a potential for so many plot twists that I kept wondering where the story was going to end up. It’s the kind of book where are you just want to curl up in front of the fire and feel warm inside and out.

The Short of It:

We all need good stories right now and Promises to Keep will touch your heart and leave you smiling.

The Rest of It:

I am no stranger to Rossiter’s work. I think I have read, reviewed and enjoyed everything she’s written. Her new book, Promises to Keep, which comes out 04/27/2021, is actually a follow-up to Promises of the Heart. Although it’s a follow-up, I think each book can be read on its own but why not begin with Promises of the Heart? You’ll enjoy the characters enough to want to spend as much time with them as possible.

In this story, Maeve Lindstrom is working at Willow Pond Senior Care. A senior home, but not the type you and I think of when we think of assisted living. These folks are independent and feisty and keep Maeve on her toes! Maeve has a soft spot in her heart for her senior friends and can’t help thinking of them even when not at work. She also has a sweet spot for her niece, Harper and is lucky to be living so close to her sister Macey and her husband Ben. Family is the most important thing to her.

Gage Tennyson comes from a large family of boys. His work with Maeve’s brother-in-law Ben, is what brought Gage and Maeve together but as Maeve and Gage begin to think about a future together, they both realize that things from their past may affect where their relationship is headed. As much as Maeve wants to be a part of Gage’s life, she must come clean about something from her past and one day she can no longer ignore what needs to be said.

There are a few things you can count on when picking up a book by Nan Rossiter. There is always a dog or two, especially rambunctious Labradors. Dog lovers everywhere will find themselves completely taken by these lovable pups and yes, sometimes there’s even a cat or chickens! The other thing you can count on is the importance of family. As wonderful as these characters are, they struggle and often have to work through difficulty as the family comes together to help them through. Did I mention food? Nearly all of Rossiter’s books include food or drink in some way. There is comfort to be found in a home cooked meal and all the mentions of pies, cookies and platters of food bringing people together will give you a warm feeling. I love when an author finds a way to wrap you in comfort and who doesn’t need comfort right now?

Promises to Keep is comfort reading for sure but it’s a story with an important message too. This particular story deals with regret, missed opportunities, forgiveness, acceptance and inclusion. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait for her next book.

Promises to Keep comes out 4/27 so pre-order now or…

Promises to Keep starts out a little slow, gets much better in the middle, but the ending really ticks me off.

Maeve Lindstrom and Gage Tennyson are a sweet couple who have been dating for a couple years. They both enjoy their jobs and hanging out with Maeve’s sister Macey and her husband Ben (who Gage works for), and their adopted daughter Harper. And both are thinking it’s time to take their relationship to the next level.

But Maeve has something in her past she hasn’t told a soul and figures it’s probably something she should share with Gage before he proposes. Except before she works up the courage, Maeve’s big secret shows up at her doorstep one day, and Gage doesn’t take it well.

Okay, I get he’s shocked and hurt she didn’t tell him. Which makes him a big fat giant hypocrite because he hasn’t been real forthcoming about his past either.

Which begs the question...what exactly on earth have these two been talking about for the past two years???

Anyway, I could have gotten past the hero’s poor behavior. I do, after all, enjoy a good apology/grovel scene.

BUT...after Maeve emphatically tells her sister she’s going to make Gage earn her forgiveness for treating her so poorly, she not only goes to him when she learns about his family’s tragic event (which, good on her for being the bigger person), she offers up her forgiveness after a lame-o apology.

And that made me verah, verah cranky.

E-Reader Addict when the grovel scene was non-existant

This could have been a four-star read. I enjoyed the writing. I mostly like the characters. The secondary storyline involving Maeve’s secret was compelling and heartwarming. But all transgressions being easily forgiven with disregarded resolve and a simple “I’m sorry” completely ruined things for me.

Book two in the Savannah Skies Series by Nan Rossiter has given us a superb continuation of the life and times of the Lindstrom sisters. Promises To Keep is filled with love, faith, family, and kindness. Adding in the rambunctious antics of a loveable pup and well, you have a sweet read perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

If you like slow burns then this book is for you. The characters really go through a lot of real life relatable situations. Very heart felt and moving. But you probably should read the first book before this one.

Just wonderful. The sequel to Promises of the Heart was a joy to experience. It was filled with humor, warmth and wisdom. It continued the life story and struggles of good people facing difficulties that many readers experience. How they face them is the compelling takeaway. My wife (also a Nan) and I shared throughout our readings how uplifting the tale was. The moving speeches at a graduation and a funeral expressed the emotions many of us have but lack the eloquence and bravery to articulate. Nan Rossiter gives us that voice.

As an admitted book club junkie, I enter contests to win books for myself and for my whole book club. I hit the jackpot recently when I won copies of Promises to Keep by Nan Rossiter from the Book Club Cookbook, https://www.bookclubcookbook.com/. The book publishes 27 April 2021, so not only did we win books for the whole membership, we also got advance copies. When the Circle of Readers meets soon, Nan Rossiter will be joining us. To win the advance copies and to have Rossiter meet with us can hardly be beat!

Promises to Keep can be read as a standalone novel, but it is book 2 in Rossiter’s Savannah Skies series. The first is Promises of the Heart. I decided to read both books in preparing for the meeting with Nan Rossiter, http://www.nanrossiter.com/index.html. I have already posted a review of Promises of the Heart.

I enjoy books in a series because the author has an opportunity to develop characters through the series. Going into Promises to Keep, I enjoyed having knowledge of the background from the first book.

Promises to Keep focuses on the same extended family. However, the main attention has shifted from Macey, Ben, and Harper Samuelson to Macey’s sister Maeve and her romance with Gage Tennyson. Promises of the Heart took readers on a rollercoaster ride of sorrow as Macey suffered her fifth miscarriage and then the turnaround as she and Ben decide to foster and then adopt Harper, a little girl who needs a heart transplant.

Readers will be happy to learn that Harper is healthy and well after the transplant and has found her forever home with Macey and Ben. Now, we turn our attention to Maeve who works at the Willow Pond Senior Care Home. She and Gage, who works for Ben in his construction firm, seem right for each other.

Sadly, both Maeve and Gage withhold secrets from one another. In Maeve’s case, she has kept a secret from her whole family for years. Now, after Gage asks Maeve to move in with him, Maeve’s secret comes to light. Will it damage the relationship between Maeve and Gage? Ultimately, will the secret also harm Maeve’s place in her immediate family?

And what is Gage’s secret? Why has he left Tennessee and his family’s farm? When Maeve asks Gage questions about his family, he is evasive. Surprisingly, when Chase, Gage’s youngest brother, comes to visit, Gage introduces him and his partner to Maeve. The four even have dinner together. So why can’t Gage talk about the rest of his family?

Readers will fall in love with Gus, Gage’s irrepressible golden lab. They may even like the chickens he has named.

As readers follow Maeve and Gage, Rossiter inserts another story of Mason and his mother. Mason is graduating from high school. Unfortunately, his mother is undergoing treatment for cancer. The prognosis is dire. Mason, the class valedictorian, delivers an impassioned speech from the heart, looking directly at his mother the whole time. He refers to his mother and her love of poetry and of her support of him throughout his life. He ends the speech with a poignant line from poet Mary Oliver: “Tell me, dear one, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
Readers recognize the two stories will have to intertwine at some point. The question remains what connects the two? Readers will have to read the story to discover all the secrets and all the truths. It will be a pleasant journey!

Did I also say that sisters Macey and Maeve are both redheads and that Harper is as well? Add one more character to the ginger collection: Mason. The Book Whisperer as a redhead herself always likes stories that feature redheads. The crown on this story is that Nan Rossiter, too, is a ginger!
Nan Rossiter lives in Connecticut and has set several books in the Northeast, but she has branched out with Promises of the Heart and Promises to Keep by setting them in Savannah, GA. She didn’t guess about the location. She and her husband took a trip there to learn about the area and so she could include local landmarks including eating places.

In corresponding with Nan Rossiter about joining our book club meeting via Zoom, I’ve learned that she is warm and inviting. She mentioned that her “oldest son just moved out to Altus AFB in OK over the weekend. He will eventually be flying the new KC-46 refueling plane for the NH Air Guard.” So she is joining our Broken Arrow, OK, Circle of Readers and her son now is stationed in OK.

Have your box of tissues nearby when you finish this touching novel of family relationships. The character development is great as we see a son deal with the alienation from his family and a woman come to grips with an event from her past. There are many lessons included in this novel about resentment and pride and forgiveness and reconciliation.

Rossiter writes novels about events in lives that culminate in a way we want life to be. Yes, there are obstacles on the journey but characters survive the better for them. Like the old novels ending where the couple rides off in the sunset to live happily ever after, you'll give a contented sigh when finishing this one.

A prominent issue in the novel is an exploration of the old school, strict rules Christianity and the newer Christianity, accepting behavior that would have been considered immoral by the old school. This is definitely a novel for the more accepting Christians as we see no qualms about an unmarried couple living together and the affirming of alternative lifestyles.

There is one aspect of the novel I did not like at all, the pretty descriptive sex scenes. They did not have an essential place in the plot and seemed totally unnecessary to me.

This is the second novel in a series. While it read pretty well on its own, do read Promises of the Heart first to get the full emotional impact of this book.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

I was really excited to find out that "Promises of the heart" wasn't going to be a stand alone book anymore, but part of a series called "Savanah Skies" .
The second book in the series is called “Promises to keep”. In this one we get the opportunity to find out more about Macey's younger sister Maeve and her handsome boyfriend Gage. They are madly in love and ready for the next step in their relationship, but both have something from the past that they don't talk about. We soon find out that, despite the fact that they are getting closer to each other, they are not ready yet to reveale everything about themselves. Will the secrets break them apart or bring them closer?? I'm not going to tell you that!! You have to read this book!!
The part that I also enjoyed was the addition of the new characters, I wish we could know more about them too. Is there going to be a third book? I can't decide if I loved Mason more or Bud. They were definitely a good addition to our group. I really wish to know more about them, I feel there is so much of their past and future that we could explore.
Just a suggestion... how about a prequal about Bud's life?!?!
Also, I loved to see how Harper relationship evolved with her family and how well she integrated with the rest of the family.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

After reading Promises Of The Heart, I could not wait to get my hands on this one. I absolutely loved Rossiter's work with Promises Of The Heart, and I knew that book 2 would be just as amazing. I was right! This book hooked me, and kept me wrapped up until the very last page was reached.

Maeve & Gage are beautifully chiseled. I absolutely loved getting to visit with them in this book. Their story is filled with longing, secrets, love and hope. Each page turn brought us a little closer to them, a little more into their friendship and their families. Watching them together truly touched my soul.

If you want a read that will captivate you, envelope you in a beautifully penned story, and reach deep into your soul, then grab this one up. It's emotional, it's heartwarming, it's unforgettable. I can not wait to get my hands on another amazingly written novel from Rossiter! Well done!

Promises to Keep is the second book in the Savannah Skies series, but can also be read as a stand-alone novel.

I loved this book and devoured it in one sitting! It was full of heart, some romance and some family history including secrets and difficult dynamics. So pretty much my favorite kind of novel!

Thirty-four-year-old Maeve loves her job at Willow Pond Senior Care. Thirty-three-year-old Gage brings his yellow lab to all of his construction projects. Gage works for Maeve's brother-in-law. A meet cute leads to a relationship and they fall completely in love, however, they both have some untold stories and haven't been forthcoming with each other.

As they head towards engagement, Maeve realizes she needs to be completely honest with him. Before she finds the courage, her past comes crashing into her present tearing the two of them apart.

This is a beautiful story that speaks to loss, taking risk and coming to terms with your past on several levels. The characters have depth and nuance and I found myself cheering for them.

Highly recommend for those who love family sagas with some romance, heart and of course, a dog as a main character.

Promises to Keep
By Nan Rossiter

Promises to Keep is the heartwarming sequel to Promises of the Heart in the Savannah Skies series by Nan Rossiter which can be read as a stand alone beautifully.

I enjoyed the first book in the series and I am so glad to return to Tybee Island off the Georgia coast to focus on this installment the beloved characters of Maeve and Gage.

Meave Lindstrom is a wonderful character - a true salt of the earth. person who works with the elderly in a facility. As a nurse, I was really drawn to her character and the pure joy in her personality to deal with the sundowners of the Willow Pond Senior Care. Gage Tennyson and his lovely yellow lab Gus is such a heartwarming addition to the story line, and a true Southern gentleman.

This is a wonderful love story and Rossiter truly does write the best heartwarming and cozy romance books I love reading about. Great series if you love to read about relatable characters in a small town setting this is it.

I had the pleasure of receiving an advanced copy of this book from The Book Club Cookbook and Harper Collins Publishing.
This is a wonderful, heartfelt book filled with humor, warmth and wisdom. It is the story of Mauve, who loves working in an assisted living center. She has the gift to connect with the seniors and bring sunshine to their daily lives. However, Mauve holds a secret that happened in her youth that she hasn't shared with anyone. Gage is Mauve's handsome country boyfriend who loves Mauve with all his heart. Gage has unresolved issues with his father stemming from his youth. As their relationship goes forward, neither is forthcoming about their past. The past comes careening into their lives in a shocking and unexpected way. One great lesson from this book is to forgive ~ make amends with people before it is too late.
Mark your calendars for April 27th when this book will hit book shelves!

A lovely novel about second chances and the past that can rise up and haunt your present if you don’t deal with it. It’s also a beautiful love story and the female lead; Maeve is my favorite character - she works at an Assisted Living home for Seniors. Her story line and her love for making the Senior’s last days bright & sunny is particularly endearing & sweet. It would be nice if all elderly were cared for the way Maeve does in this book. Definitely recommend this book!

A very big THANK YOU for NetGalley, the author (Nan Rossiter) and the publishing company, Harper Paperbacks, for an early electronic copy of this book, for an honest review.

I have enjoyed Nan Rossiter's books from the beginning, and I just cannot wait for her to have a new release and to devour it in hours. I absolutely love her writing style, her genre, and the love you feel throughout the book.

I adored the big yellow lab, Gus, and how he was always in the chapters, and you could tell that Gus is an amazing pet, and loves everyone that is loyal to him. I enjoyed the love story between Gage and Maeve, and then learning the secrets that both hold onto, and seeing how those come to fruition, truly makes this story a great sequel.

The love and respect that the family shows within the chapters, truly resonates through the pages, and you just fall in love with Gage, Maeve and especially Gus.

Thank you again Nan Rossiter, and I cannot wait for the next one.

Promises To Keep by Nan Rossiter is a delightful contemporary novel that will warm your heart. It is the second book in the Savannah Skies series but can be read as a stand-alone.
The novel is about love and care from the cradle to the grave as we see both pre-term babies and seniors.
It is important to care for those who cannot care for themselves. When a young mother realizes she cannot care for her baby, another stepped in (before the story opened) with love and care.
As our bodies let us down, it is important to remember that where now we see a senior standing, inside there is still a beating heart that has lived and loved. “What stories are locked behind those frightened eyes?” It is sad to see a loved one abandoned by their family in a senior living facility.
In contrast there is a daughter who refuses to abandon her father to Alzheimer’s. “I’m not just going to forget about him… even if he doesn’t always recognize me.” We witness lives opening up when familiar music is played. Musical memories are deep-seated.
The past is good to learn from but a terrible place to inhabit. Secrets from the past hiding in the present are heavy burdens to bear. We need to release them.
We must forgive others now, if we wait we may be too late.
Pets turn a house into a home. Therapy pets feature within the story. They help to calm others. We see two dogs, a cat and some hens within the tale. All become characters in their own right.
The characters were wonderfully drawn. They were realistic with their loves, hopes, dreams and flaws. They will warm your heart.
The loss of a parent hurts. We witness several lives lost – not always to death, some are to misunderstandings or Alzheimer’s.
As a classic car gets a new lease of life, it is renovated with love. This can be seen as a motif for our lives. When we are loved, our lives open up.
I really enjoyed Promises To Keep. It was a totally charming novel that tackled relevant issues that affect us all. I certainly want to read more by Nan Rossiter.
A word of caution: there were bedroom scenes with far too much detail for me to be comfortable with. I skipped over them. It did not detract from my overall enjoyment.
I received a free book from the publishers. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.

Maeve is Macey's sister from book 1 and this is her story. She works at a senior care center and loves her job and the elderly people that she deals with daily. She's in love with Gage who works for her brother-in-law's business. They are extremely happy together but they are both hiding secrets from each other. Just when Maeve is ready to tell Gage about her past, an unexpected visitor shows up and everyone finds out the truth she's been hiding from Gage and from her entire family. Will Gage accept her secret or will it end their relationship?

There is one other main character - Mason is graduating from high school while his mom is dying of cancer. He's decided not to go to college so that he can stay home to take care of her. He was an fantastic character and the graduation speech that he gave brought me to tears.

Book one in this series was Macey's story and book 2 is her sister Maeve's story. All of the characters of the first book also appear in this book. You really need to read both books in order to get the maximum enjoyment. I really enjoyed spending time with these characters and getting to know them. This was definitely a well written and emotional series and I need to check out some of Nan Rossiter's earlier books. I sure would like to see another book in this series -- either about Mason or Harper as they grown up.

Thanks to the publisher for a copy of this book to read and review. All opinions are my own.

PROMISES TO KEEP, Book Two in the Savannah Skies series, is a heartwarming story about love, loss, faith, family, and forgiveness—Highly Recommend!

The novel, set in Tybee Island off the Georgia coast, centers around thirty-somethings Maeve Lindstrom and Gage Tennyson, as they begin their relationship—though it’s love at first sight—each has not been forthcoming about their pasts, which threatens to put an unyielding wedge between them.

I don’t want to give too much away, Dear Readers, but I will say you may want to keep the tissues close at hand. I haven’t cried this much while reading a book in a long time—touching moments that brought a smile to my face and warmth in my heart, and at times, mournful tears of memory and remembrance of life, love, loss, and longing of hope.

I look forward to returning to Savannah as I delve into Book One of the series, PROMISES OF THE HEART, as I eagerly wait to see if Rossiter writes a third in the series, or perhaps, the start of a new one.

Either way, it’s an Auto-Yes from this reader!

Thank you, NetGalley and HarperCollins Publishing, for loaning me an eGalley of PROMISES TO KEEP in the request for an honest review.

Promises to Keep by Nan Rossiter is the second installment of the Savannah Skies series. This is the sweet, family centered story I have been needing. Small town settings are quickly becoming a favorite of mine and Promises to Keep did not disappoint!

Maeve and Gage live in Tybee Island in Georgia. After two years of dating they decide to move in together and an upcoming engagement seems inevitable. Maeve senses there is more to Gage than he is willing to share. He has very little ties to his family and his past remains mostly unknown. However it is someone from Maeve’s past who unexpectedly shows up, threatening their future.

I loved all the different layers and elements to this story. One of my favorite parts of the book was Maeve’s interactions with the residents at the senior community she works at. Also, her relationship with her niece was so special and I am so glad that Rossiter continued to highlight their connection throughout the story. If you are like me, and tend to read heavy material, this book is an amazing reset. There is so much substance but overall is a beautiful story highlighting the complications of families.

Definitely check out Promises to Keep by Nan Rossiter!

You know when you get a book in your hand and it’s just one of those easy reads that make you feel good at the end? This book was that for me. This was my second book by Nan Rossiter and I can now say I’m definitely a fan of her writing. This book is actually a follow-up to Promises of the Heart, but it can be read on it’s own. It contains a Christian undertone with some references to the Bible and church here or there, which I enjoyed, and if that’s not for you I can assure you that it was not overwhelming or being pushed in your face.

This book just made me feel good while I read it. It made me want to go spend time with my family and have a barbecue. It made me want to go play with my dog (not that I don’t do that enough already) and spend as much time with him as possible. This book contains love, family, dealing with your past, forgiveness, and so much more. If you haven’t read something by Nan Rossiter yet, I suggest you pick this one up and start here! I couldn’t have been more pleased.

*Thank you to Harper Perennial and Nan Rossiter for an early and finished copy of this book in exchange for my honest review*

Nan Rossiter, the author of “Promises to Keep” has written a captivating and memorable novel. The genres for this novel are Literary Fiction, Women’s Fiction, Romance and Fiction. The timeline for this story is set in the present and goes to the past when it pertains to the characters or events. The author describes her characters as complex and complicated. I love that the author describes the animals that are in this story. The author discusses secrets, honesty, forgiveness, the importance of family, friends, love, and hope.

Maeve works at a senior center, is wonderful with the residents, and loves her work. Maeve has just moved into her boyfriend, Gage’s home. Everything would be perfect if both of them were honest and didn’t keep secrets. Maeve has some secrets from her past that her family is not aware of either, but realizes that she will have to reveal them. Gage keeps certain things from Maeve. When the past meets the present, there will be major problems to deal with.

I appreciate that the author has some twists and turns with the characters and events that are really quite surprising. I would recommend this entertaining book to others.

This one pulled at my heart strings. It has people in senior living, babies in NICU, dogs, cats, a very responsible 18 year old, and good adult people that made past mistakes.

I alternated between smiling, crying and getting goosebumps.

I thought all the characters were just so wonderfully written and I wanted so badly to see everyone happy!

This is a lovely read that teaches the lessons of open hearts and open minds and learning to forgive and understand.

About the Book

Maeve Lindstrom works in a senior care facility. Helping seniors and spending time with her niece are some of her loves. Her long term boyfriend, Gage Tennyson, works for Maeve’s brother-in-law in restoration even though his heart lies with a different passion. They share current moments together but neither one speaks about the past.

When Maeve gets a surprise visitor, Gage feels betrayed and lets his own past issues cloud an amazing relationship. What will it take for them to find happiness and peace?

Promises to Keep by Nan Rossiter is a heartwarming story about love and loss. The author effectively brought out all of my emotions with this one!
The main story revolves around Maeve. She is a 34 yr old caregiver that is head over heels in love with her boyfriend Gage. She longs to take the relationship to the next level but long-buried secrets keep her second guessing their future. Can she and Gage trust each other enough by each revealing their pasts or will they inevitably go their separate ways? This is something that I kept wondering while reading this story!

Promises to Keep by Nan Rossiter is a story of family, relationship, love, and forgiveness.
It’s a novel about Maeve who is in her early thirties and works at a Senior Care facility. She loves her job and enjoys being around seniors.
Gage, also in his early thirties who a restoration technician and is working with Maeve’s brother-in-law. Gage and Maeve grow closer, and they find themselves in a relationship with untold secrets of their past.
A moving and heartfelt story with relatable characters. The opening was really slow for me, however, the story picked up halfway through the book. I liked Gus, Gage’s lab, and how he has a role in this story. It was a memorable and captivating story for me and I enjoyed the details in this story.
Many Thanks to Susan Leopold for having me on this tour.
