This series was a mess that just kept getting weirder as they tried everything to salvage it from all the terrible reactions to its opening chapters. But towards the end they knew they were going out and were able to close it out with a great sci-fi story about the meaning of art, why people are driven to create manga in the first place, and what it takes to really reach out to someone and 'save' them with your artwork. I don't know if I would call this series "good" but god damn it, if it were a longer running series that was more tightly plotted I could see it becoming one of my favourites.
I finished the series proper several months ago, but it just came to my attention that an epilogue chapter was made for the physical release of this volume. The epilogue managed to give the series a more satisfying ending, but it still feels like a waste of an amazing series. There has never been, and never will be, another Jump Manga that I feel was more unfairly cancelled. If I could bring any one Manga back from cancellation, it would be Time Paradox Ghostwriter.
AN INTERESTING AND UNIQUE PREMISE THAT GOT AXED TOO SOON BY WSJ
and apparently the Japanese readers seemed to despise this manga, because I guess the controversial topic of "plagiarism" is so problematic, even if it could potentially lead to interesting discussions. Idk if it's just a cultural thing or what. So so sad this was canceled. I really would have loved to see what more could be done with this premise. Seems like it wasn't a good fit for WSJ's audience.
