“I remember you.” Those three words are usually harmless. But not when they come from the lips of Jack. Jack Offenbach. A man whose lawn I once graced in all my tequila-fueled, veil-wearing glory. Oh, and he’s my new boss. Who doesn’t look too happy to see me.
I thought I’d matured beyond sloppy nights out and the sickening scent of the morning after. But I thought wrong.
Life was sailing smoothly in one direction until one big gust of what-the-cluck blew me off course. And right back to my hometown.
But maybe this new direction is the right one after all. Maybe I’m meant for this job. Maybe I was meant to meet Jack. Even if he’s more than fitting of my not-so-nice nickname for him… at times.
Jack Off is a contemporary romantic comedy with a grouchy hero, a down-on-her-luck heroine, and an adorable dog. Prepare for inappropriate humor, dad jokes, and maybe a woodland creature or two.
K.B. Cinder is a new author to me, one I discovered from one of my many romance FB groups lol. I was looking for a lighter, funnier romance and this delivered on all fronts.
Jack Off starts off by Cece out celebrating at her Bachelorette party where she pulls out her cell phone and sees a text from her fiance. Apparently the text she received was for another woman and not her. Cece gets drunk on tequila and finds herself puking in someones backyard and we are then introducted to Jack, who is the owner of the house. He's a super asshole and makes her feel even more like sh*t--and tells her to get off his property. Fast forward a few days later she finds her self back at Jack's home again because she applies for a job opening for to be the care taker for Jack's father, Johnny.
There's a lot of tension between the two for a bit but Jack slowly gives into Cece and her ways and lets just say that Jack is very generous to Cece when it comes to going down town!
There's more to the story which I won't dive into but I really enjoy K.B.s style of writing and the humor that she throws into the book.
I'd say if you need a good laugh and want to read about a grumpy hero, this would be the perfect book for you!
Funny...so many one liners to choose from...one of my favorites; “Bryant is a trust fund fuck with eyes that are too far apart and a mouth that seems incapable of closing all the way. I’m waiting for a fly to buzz in it and lay some eggs.”
Jack off is such a sweet, heartwarming, sexy story with an enemies to lovers twist. The perfect read to get you into the holiday spirit.

I loved this book! Jack Off has everything I love in romance books. It was beautiful written and so funny and sweet. Secondary characters were just as amazing as the main ones. Chemistry between main characters was undeniable,I couldn’t get enough of them. And there was a family of raccoons, sweet little dog and a grumpy Grandpa. I’m so happy I discovered this author and I can’t wait to read more of her books!
G’zus this is bad. Bad characters. Bad plot. Bad writing. Bad everything.
Boring.
Nonsense.
MMC sounds like a fretting old lady Karen. This is not an alpha male situation.
“JESUS, MARY, AND JOE PESCI!” said the MMC as his sister startled him lol.
FMC is a hot mess with way too much Pollyanna inner dialogue. For all the stupid shit she thinks and says, she has zero personality. She’s a name on a place setting.
Writing tries too hard to be funny and clever. Ends up flopping like a half-dead octopus….
In contrast, my boozy sins leave me a dead ringer for a Barbie after a date with a woodchipper.
It’s similar to the fruity body mist I wore as a teenager, only sweeter. Like the innards of Willy Wonka’s jockstrap, and every cough makes it worse.
The voices sound immature and unnatural, not like mid-30-yo.
“Ouch, Captain Obvious.”
“You’re the one spending your Friday night with me, the dork. What’s that say about you? Are you the queen of the dorks?”
The banter isn’t cute. It’s desperate.
Chapters end abruptly in the middle of thoughts, dialogue, etc. Hanging chapters make for disjointed reading.
Much of the story comes off as pieced together. He’s a millionaire driving a Maserati with a broken key fob. He has a housekeeper but takes out his own garbage. Her hometown is so small as to not even have a chain restaurant, but the FMC is surprised the town baker recognizes her. Her dog is so important to her, but she leaves instead of stalking her ex to find kidnapped dog? <<<< There’s too much contradiction in every plot device and arc used.
Dialogue often doesn’t even match up in the convos.…
“I know it’s a shocker, Cece, but I say the occasional fuck,” he mutters, averting his eyes to the papers in his hand before extending them my way. “Someone scaring you is an acceptable time to use it.” “Sorry, I didn’t expect you to be here,” I say before realizing how rude it sounds, so I try again. “I mean, I didn’t expect you to be here in the hall in your house. I thought the papers were here, and you were gone and...”
I really don’t understand the hate to lust transition. It’s the biggest leap I’ve seen in a book. He berated her character as a drunk, irresponsible, fool over puking in his yard from a party bus. For no reason other then his dad likes her, he hires her as a caretaker. Mmkay. Two days and one mundane convo later, he’s off to play knight for her missing dog and defend her honor to her ex.
“She’s too beautiful of a soul for either of you.
Huh? He doesn’t even know her.
The angst, sexual tension storyline is so forced, and the awkwardness is pathetic… not funny.
Keep in mind that 75% of this story takes place within a week. At 76%, we fast forward a week for the author to tell the reader everything that happened the past week just so that we can now say two weeks have lapsed in the story’s timeline. This is awful writing.
At 79%, the MCs finally have sexual contact. Ehhh, it’s as lackluster as the book itself. Oral and then he walks away with a challenge to meet him tomorrow for more oral … as “sex isn’t on the menu today.” Get real. He doesn’t allow her to do anything to him, and she doesn’t even question why.
When we are past 80% and MCs have nothing deeper than goo-goo eyes, but we have to ensure a dissertation on taco lettuce…. I’m f’ing outta here.
I tried to finish this one out for the cranky dad… does he ever get freedom, or is he stuck with these two overbearing asshats forever? Sorry, dude, but your son is a petunia, and the FMC is the wall for his dainty flower to sit.
I literally laughed from beginning to the end of this book. Cece (FMC) is down on her luck after losing her job and her relationship. Starting a new job as a carer to Johnny puts her in his sons Jack life in more ways than he would like and much to his annoyance. All the problems that come with that make it absolutely hilarious but its still a story of second chance at love for both of them. The real star of this book for me though is Johnny. He was just a riot!!! His banter with the next door neighbor had me cracking up. A totally brilliant read. Full of laughs with 2 lead characters you completely love and want to get their HEA ending
I'm a big fan of a well-written romcom, and Jack Off does not disappoint.
This is the romance between CeCe & Jack, whose name will become apparent almost immediately. Hint: it's not just the nickname that CeCe gives him after their first, not so great meeting.
Witty banter, laugh out loud moments, and some amazing side characters make this one of my favorite books of 2020. And it was definitely a much needed escape from reality.
I plowed through this book in record time, it was that good. Cece is a strong and sassy heroine with a detailed backstory and no-nonsense personality. Jack is a grouchy hero just trying to thrive in his business while caring for his elderly father. The natural progression of Cece and Jack’s relationship - from barely standing each other to love and happily ever after - was so fun to read and will definitely pull on the heartstrings. I certainly cried a time or two while reading this. But other than the emotionally climactic moments in this novel, the side characters of Johnny and Stef certainly bring a layer of fun and sassiness to the story that I love so much.
If you love a heart wrenching, unexpected romance between a boss and his employee and strong and sassy characters, you’ll love Jack Off.

Steam: 2/5. Strong Language: 3/5. Triggers: Cheating by secondary character
Slow burn romance about frenemies. What a refreshing change - A contemporary romance novel featuring a couple in their thirties (H is 39, h is 35) who still enjoy a sex life. Jack has been burned by love before so he throws everything he has into his business and taking care of his father, Pop. Cece, just broke up with her cheating fianceé days before the wedding and lost her job as a result. She applies to be Pop's caretaker. Sparks fly, banter ensues, Pop creates mischief (he's a fantastic character), and the two of them fight their attraction. Of course, eventually passion wins out. This book is funny, witty, and was a genuine pleasure to read. I really hope #KBCinder writes follow ups to this book.

5 ⭐ I loved it. I’ll revisit it like an old friend. This book is moving right into my favorites category. I would recommend it to everyone, even people that don’t ask. I’ll one click this author’s work in the future. For a few hours, I belonged to the author’s world and not my own. 4 ⭐ A great read. I’ll probably reread again when feeling nostalgic. It was very enjoyable, not portable magic. I would recommend it to a friend. 3 ⭐ I liked it. It was a nice way to pass the time. I doubt I’ll reread it. I’d recommend it to someone asking for a specific genre. Thanks for the memories. 2 ⭐ I completed the Herculean task of finishing this book. At times, it felt like I was Prometheus and the suffering would never end. It just wasn’t for me but I applaud the author for their effort. 1 ⭐ I couldn’t finish this book or I wish I hadn't finished. How do I put this? It’s not me, it’s you.
Jack Offenbach is a businessman who moves from the city for the sake of his dad. He will need help in taking care of his father, however. CeCe has ended her engagement to a jerk and is trying to start over in her new life as caregiver for an elderly gentleman. Having accidentally made Jack’s acquaintance previously in a not-so-glorious situation of being sick in his front yard, CeCe does not immediately impress him nor inspire confidence when they finally meet officially as she applies for the caregiver position.
Both of them are drawn to each other, but neither wants to start anything. Yet living in the same house, gives them opportunities to form a more accurate picture of each other rather than going by their first impressions. Will they want to pursue this curiosity further? Or is it better to leave things alone at this point?
With humor interspersed throughout, this is a good story with memorable characters that the reader won’t want to miss. Grab your copy and see how the two of them adjust in their new environment.
This book has all the elements that make a great book - humor (lots of it), grumpy characters, sweet, sassy, strong females, witty banter and a stellar storyline. Jack is a business man who has suddenly become his grumpy dad's primary care giver. Of course, he needs help. In comes, Cece who just ended her engagement with the douchebag to crown all douchebags. Of course, they've met before under not so good circumstances so Jack's impression of Cece is not that good. Throw in a meddling sister, a grumpy dad, sassy neighbor and of course a ride-or-die chick of a best friend and you've got the recipe for a really good book. Without giving away any more of the story, let's just say, good and fun times await readers of this book.

Well, their meet cute had her puking on his lawn... so you know this is going to be a good story. :D He was a bit of a jerk. She was already a little broken hearted and he just added salt to the wounds. Luckily, she is resilient and doesn't let his attitude sour hers. We see him change his attitude pretty quickly once he starts to get to know her. There is plenty of humor throughout. The side characters are hilarious as well. That snarky no filter friend, that grouchy old man, that less than perfect parent, and the it's so ugly its cute pet. There is plenty of sexual tension.. and eventually the release. There is that heart breaking break up before the make-up. It's a cute and witty story. Mostly light hearted with a few heavier moments. Due to the sexual content, I would recommend this for mature readers. It alternates POVs. Easy and quick to read. Really keeps your attention.
Jack Off by KB Cinder. OMG! This is a must read for anyone looking for a lighter read filled with funny, naughty and awkward. Anytime I grab a book from KB Cinder, I know I am in for a treat. This one was no exception- I had to make sure I had plenty of me time so I could hide away and enjoy this phenomenal story of Jack and Cece. I absolutely fell head over heels in love with these two – their encounters, the banter, the side charterers, and Couscous made this story come alive for me. KB Cinder is a talented author that has a flair for creating fun stories with relatable characters filled with emotion, quirks, and genuine feel good romance. Jack is a rich CEO who moves from the city so his dad can have a better way of life. Cece applies for a job as a babysitter for Jack’s dad, but when he walks in the room to finally meet her, he realises that he is the woman who he met on his front garden a few nights before, in a not very ladylike position!
The attraction between the two is obvious, but they both have reason they can’t start a relationship, but living in the same house is not as easy as it seems! He has a heart, and she wants to get to know him better. Can they figure out the dynamics of their relationship or are they destined to just be friends?
CeCe and Jack meet on one of the most devastating nights of her life while she is throwing up on his lawn. Jack of course is a memorable jerk that evening. Flash forward to CeCe trying to start her life over as a caretaker for an elderly gentleman who just happens to be Jacks father making Jack her new boss. This love hate story left me in tears with all the one liners not to mention CeCe's crazy love for animals. Throw in some elderly hijinks and you have a heartwarming story of second chances, trusting love again and gut busting comedy.

I have to admit this was an incredibly funny story to me! The romance was a bit cheesy but all in all KB did a fantastic job at the delivery. It had me from the first chapter to the very end and it made me feel good reading this story! KB is one of those authors that you expect perfection from because she delivers perfection. She is an outstanding author and knows how to make the reader feel the gamut of emotions. But in all sincerity it was an enjoyable feel good romp that I am pleased to have on my shelf! I would recommend this book!

For most of us, we noticed this book because of the title and I'm sure Jack loves us having a chuckle or two on his behalf.
Cece had her life change rather quickly. Both her and Jack need to change so its all good that they found each other.
Oh these two has me laughing so hard I was crying, a few eye rolls, wondering if they could pull off a forever since he's a grump and she don't trust men.
Have no fear KB took both them, us and their family/friends on a wild, wild ride. But getting to sit with them and see the illusions disappear and the grump find that a smile is better than a frown and a woman scorned learns that not every guy is like Jack OFFenbach.
I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.
I picked this book because of the title thinking it would be a fun read. Well I was right. This book is a hoot. Cece is wonderful and the dialogue in the book was amazing. It was funny and it was witty and it was wonderful. The story kept me engaged and could not put it down. It started off and it kept it up.

I haven’t ever read anything by this author before,I did enjoy the story tho. It was a pretty quick cute romance. I was hoping there would be way more steam in it but it was very tame in that area so it wasn’t quite my “cup of tea” I do enjoy that it was from both characters POV. *Spoiler* I do enjoy a hea tho

KB Cinder did a good job on Jack Off, the plot was strong, the story was written well, it was filled with many emotions. Jack and Cece were strong characters, their path may have been a bumpy one but they were strong. They were drawn to each other, their connection and chemistry was strong, they were great together. I enjoyed this story. Thanks, KB Cinder. Good work :)
Oh my God Cinder delivers with this rom-com. It's was funny, sexy, steamy with characters that were hilarious, endearing, cute, grumpy in some cases and there was no doubt about Jack and Cece.

I LOVED everything about reading this book! First off Pop is hilarious!! He was my favorite character but if was a close race. Cece and Jack are so wonderful together. I enjoyed their hate-love relationship and reading the growth of both characters. Seriously I highly recommend reading this today!! I’m already ready to read it again!

I love discovering a new author and this one did not disappoint! I loved the inappropriate old man the most! The end of the story line felt sort of rushed, but over all, a really good, page-turning story!
This story was a mix of delightful misadventures and heartwarming realizations. The lead character was humorous in her interactions though it broke my heart in the beginning of her journey to experience what she did. The author cleverly engaged my emotions by that heartbreaking reveal and the story took off. I absolutely loved how the story played out - just desserts for some and overwhelming realizations for others.

This was such a fun book to read. It had me laughing multiple times. First book read by this author and I couldn't put it down, I was up later than I'd like to admit 😂
Oh my gosh I needed this book in my life! I was laughing so hard at one point that I woke my son up! The punny one liners just kept coming and they were hilarious. While Jack and Cece and Johnny were so much fun to get to know throughout the story I also really enjoyed reading as Jack learned to loosen up and live a little and Cece recovering from heartbreak and rediscovering herself. Another amazing book from KB Cinder so goes onto my favorite romcom list!
[1.75 star] book started off a little boring and wanted to stop but still continue because was a little lazy to start a new book, lol. but after that the book became more interesting and there are some real funny parts that made me burst out laughing. overall, the book is pretty okay.
