Which is worse? To be distrusted without reason and banished or to earn the trust of a prince who is the target of someone out to destroy his kingdom?

All Kambry wanted was to be noticed just once. One summer day to know she could catch someone’s eye for a single moment.

Now everybody is watching, and she must commit treason to escape a hidden kingdom.

Or she could save the kingdom, which means she must get Prince Russal to trust her.

Everything she says must have the ring of truth. Not an easy task with a magic ring revealing her every lie.

Each stranger to his kingdom has ultimately deceived him. Why should he expect Kambry to be any different?

He says he’s determined to fall in love with her. Then she’ll betray him as expected, and she'll be banished beyond all hope of returning home.

Can she convince him she can make a difference in his search for the traitor behind all his trouble? Will earning his trust just make her the next bystander caught in the intrigue surrounding his realm?

Such a wonderful story!

When Kambry accidentally ends up in a hidden kingdom, her only options of escape are: get the prince to trust her or commit treason. Prince Russal has been betrayed repeatedly, so he expects nothing different from Kambry, but also claims that he wants to love her. With a ring that detects her every lie, Kambry struggles to navigate the court intrigues, a prince with confusing behaviour and people who want to cause her harm.

I picked this book because the description intrigued me, and I'm so glad I did. I was hooked right from the start and couldn't put the book down. I had every intention of staying up the whole night and finishing it. Unfortunately after 4 a.m, my eyes couldn't take it anymore.
The plot is great and well executed. I loved the characters, especially Kambry who developed from a shy loner to a strong and independent woman. I enjoyed her interactions with the other characters.
I must admit that Russal annoyed me at first, but I warmed up to him eventually. The supporting characters were equally great.
There wasn't any major world building, but the author did quite well describing the places.
The last 30 pages had me on edge. My heart was pounding and I couldn't wait to see how it ended. The book had amazing twists and I was satisfied with how it all worked out.
I have some questions and I'm expecting the next two books to have the answers.
Readers who enjoy romantic fantasy have to give this book a try.

There’s magic in the woods, the Kaven Woods that is. The magic is in the chant which calls the Kaven Cut to open. The author has written a story to reveal the mystery and the world beyond.

In an extension of the mystery it calls Kambry in. It’s a wonderful place but it is not home. The rules state that Kambry can’t go the one place she most wants - home.

She discovers that she is a pawn in royal intrigue. The reader is drawn in and becomes a witness to the events which change her life. This is a well crafted story that begs you to read it, draws you so you feel part of it. This the type of story which all first stories in a series should be - you become a willing witness to the well told story, so much so that you can’t wait to start the next book.

A highly recommended read!

Very intriguing!

This was quite an interesting story full of strange happenings and intrigue. So many mysteries. Who is the prince really, who's trying to kill him and set her up as a traitor? Who is the man in red? This was so interesting I had dreams about who the villain was. I can't wait to see what happens next!

A lovely beginning

A true ending is necessary for a great book. A cliff hanger is not a true book it is cutting up a book into a serial.
