Welcome to the wonderful World of Cosplay!Want to get into cosplay, crafting and making? This is the perfect place to start! Followed by millions of people from all over the world, Svetlana Quindt aka "Kamui Cosplay" published this beginner guide as part of her bestselling line of tutorial books. Cosplay is the ultimate creative outlet for people every age. Finding a good place to start can be a bit intimidating though. "Well fear not, it's super easy!" In her typical bubbly way Svetlana talks about everything you will need to get a brief history of cosplay, how to pick a character, getting all the materials and tools you need, how to search for tutorials and even work with a limited budget and a tight schedule. She will help you to organize your crafting corner, share your work online with others and motivate you to keep going and improve your skills.Over many years Svetlana has grown to be one of the most beloved and respected figures in the cosplay community. Still she loves nothing more than sharing her knowledge with others. This book will inspire you to craft, explore, and--most of all--enjoy the excitement of making your own costumes."Cosplay is for everyone, so let's have some fun together!"
I'm sure that a lot of this stuff could be found online for free - but it's nice to not have to scour the internet and a tonne of YouTube videos just to piece together my own guide and hope that it's right when I could just get this.
It does what it says, it gives you an introduction to a really cool thing. This is a lot less overwhelming and confusing then trying to learn everything on my own and will serve as my confidence boost on my new cosplay journey!
I also really liked the end section where Svetlana talks about different projects she has worked on. They all show different approaches to solving different problems that I never would have considered on my own.
Overall, a great book for a sprout like myself 👍🏻 🌱
The gateway book to getting hooked on any kind of Cosplay
I'm a photographer who is getting more involved in making my own one of a kind outfits, head pieces, etc, for fine art portrait photography without the use of AI or Photoshop, and this book just saved me hours of frustration going forward. After having tried my own way and failed, now I'm using Cosplay basics to help my own creations come to life!
Found the YouTube and ultimately the books looking for a good tutorial on using molding foam. This is a good starting point and she points out some tips and starting points. I’ll be looking at the armor book next.
I read this, as an absolute beginner, who wants to start with Cosplay. It's very helpful and absolutely perfect and now I need more (of Svetlana's books)
