An overzealous fan wants more than Chandra's signature, he wants her dead. Chandra Willis is the new face of horror. But when fans start to send her gifts and cards, something doesn’t feel right. Her agent says this is her new life, and to relax and enjoy the limelight. However, when the feeling of being watched follows her from her public appearances to her home, she can’t help but think this is more than the average fan. When the phone calls, text messages, and gifts become more sinister, Chandra realizes she should’ve trusted her gut. Instead, she trusted those around her, and second guessed herself. A costly mistake with deadly consequences. Download your copy of Fleeting Glimpse today!
Fleeting Glimpse is a gripping story of a stalking victim. It excellently describes her fears and sinking into a desperation as she struggles to hold her grip on reality. This page-turner will make you turn pages faster and faster until you reach a surprising end. I didn’t expect it to end like this.
Thank you for the surprise, Victoria, and thank you for the opportunity to read your book and write my honest review.
Victoria M. Patton did in 166 pages what some authors can't do in double that. You may think that a standalone psychological thriller novella wouldn't work because the one thing you need in that type of story is the time to build up the suspense. Not if you're VMP.
Chandra is a painfully shy, newly successful author. She is convinced she has a stalker while the few people around her think that it's just her shyness and apprehension at being the center of attention that has her paranoia acting up. She even tells herself she's being silly....but is she??
I need to take a second to talk about the ending. Holy. Shit. Snacks. That's all I'm going to say about it.
Ok so I did kind of see the ending coming but then I didn’t see the ending coming. I’ve probably watched way too many crime documentaries and played too much cluedo in my life that I can easily guess who the killer is. Didn’t stop it from being a good read though. Recommended by a fellow bookworm friend and will keep you on your toes throughout the whole book.
I received a free download of this book from Victoria M Patton. My review is completely voluntary – no arm twisting involved. Living in a gated community with security should be safe, right? It should not be easy for an uninvited person to invade your privacy and ever so subtly toy with your life; but that is exactly what Chandra thinks is happening to her. Chandra is a successful author; she is popular and in demand. The young writer of horror becomes convinced that she has a stalker, watching her, sending gifts, texting her – others close to her think it is an over enthusiastic fan. When some not so nice incidents begin to happen in Chandra’s life, her anxiety heightens; she begins to question who would torment her like this and why? Does anyone even believe her? Most people would question their own sanity and Chandra does to a point – most people would question, who, if anyone, can they trust; the thing is Chandra is a fairly trusting kind of person. This standalone, psychological thriller absolutely blew me away – a 100% WOW. The opening paragraph leaves you in no doubt that you are in for a dark and disturbing read. As always, the characters, including one traitorous cat, are written with such depth of personality. I liked that there are a few chapters written in first person that give vast amounts of insight into a truly unhinged mind. This is a book where you will find yourself shouting out loud at Chandra – I swore a few times too. With tension, and menace on every page this is one fabulous read. And the ending? OMFG!
Someone is watching Chandra. She’s sure of it, though everyone around her thinks she’s just being paranoid. Or maybe a bit nervous because she has to go out in public to promote her newest book, and Chandra hates crowds. But she knows something is off. She receives flowers, phone calls. Her exterior light comes on and someone has been in her house—she’s SURE of it. The only person who gives her fears a moment’s worth of consideration is the detective who comes to investigate. So… Who will catch Chandra’s mysterious stalker? And will they catch him before he kills the famous writer?
Loved this book! Victoria Patton is one of my favorite authors for mystery and suspense.
I was provided this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
