Athena Goodman is an author, poet, songwriter, game app developer, and missionary rolled into one. She started writing at age 9 with a poem entitled, Smile, and before she graduated 6th grade, she was able to read all the books in her school library. This is when she consistently stated writing everything that swirled in her mind in a journal. She loves to communicate with people as much as she loves to writes as she believes in sharing her favorite memories and experiences. Her Seventh Riddle Episode 1 did very well as it ranked number 1 on Amazon.com's Hottest New Release Best Seller and two other top 100th categories for the first month. Other books penned by Athena include the forthcoming Seventh Riddle Episode 2, Amazing Animal Funphabets, Bunnyland in Crisis, If Grades Were a Zoo, and Agent DJ, inspired by her cat, DJ who’s clever that can seem to know something and can speak and understands what she says. Also, a song, Winds of Change that she wrote.
Tears started flowing in her eyes, she seemed to can’t breathe. She’s in so much pain and anger.
Not sure if I missed something but there are a few thing I didn’t quite get: (it's only 2 chapters so kind of spoilers but not really... ) 1. Cara left early because there was an emergency? I was never told what it was, and why that was part of the story (seemed kind of unnecessary if that’s the case.) If it’s the mysterious box she took, then i would love to know more! 2. Prof Vee has some kind of secret job?? And there are codes she needs to decipher on a daily basis? (But that’s pretty intriguing so fine by me.) 3. Cara’s backpack just. Fell. In. Manure. And she just picked it up and put it back on?? I’m sorry but I could never. Just, no. 4. Not a complaint but I wouldn’t exactly say that all little kids are innocent but that’s just my opinion. (Especially when they just knocked my backpack in mAnuRe… and stole my money) 5. A 15 year old just delivered a baby??? What? do they learn this in school or something? and she knows how to perform CPR?? 6. Yet she didn’t call the ambulance first thing…? I mean, it would just take a few seconds right? And since she knows how, she could’ve called and then delivered, and they might had the chance to save her sister. Just a thought. 7. Her sister died yet she didn’t even cry…? Cool, a very (emotionally) strong girl I see… Yet she cried when the police said they let Lee go?? Or more precisely, she cried when she saw prof Vee… 8. And that cliffhanger! Don’t tell me, just release the next episode asap! 9. And i have no idea what the blurb has to do with episode one aka the first 2 chapters...
【 IN SHORT; Other than a few grammatical and spelling errors, the story itself was pretty good and interesting. So far the characters are likable and not annoying. Hopefully episode 2 will be released soon. 】:)
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review
It's a great mystery book. It's short, well written and the plot slowly captures your attention. It talks about riddles, codes, and how you can mislead people. In the second part, it gets more mysterious and suspenseful. I can't wait to read the next book of this series.
The 7th Riddle: Episode 1 by Athena Goodman is the beginning of what appears to be a promising new series. Because of its brevity, it’s only 19 pages long. It kind of reminds me of those old movie serials that ran between the two feature films, along with the cartoon, the coming attractions and the newsreel.
The story got off to something of a slow start because the inciting incident and the lock in didn’t happen until the beginning of the second half of this episode when Cara found her older sister murdered in their kitchen, lying in a pool of blood under the table. Her older sister, Vivian, was pregnant and gave spontaneous birth to Cara’s nephew as she laid dying.
The ending was a real cliffhanger. What will happen to Cara and her infant nephew since she is only sixteen and has no known relatives? Will they become wards of the state? Will her favorite teacher adopt them? The scene ends with Cara in her teacher’s arms.
Like all my favorite weekly serials of yesteryear, this one leaves me waiting impatiently for the next episode so I can find out what happens to Cara and her newborn nephew. Come on, Athena, publish the next episode before I die of curiosity.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange of my honest review. And after reading the first episode of the 7th Riddle this is my opinion/review/thoughts about it:
The book is well narrated and for me it is easy read, no any other complicated or deap words which is thumbs up for me as a starting reader. This first episode of book make me stop from what I am doing to read more because it is interesting and new from what I read before.
It talks about riddles, mores and codes that is intended to mislead information to other people. Which I find interesting and knowledgeable as well.
I can't wait to read the next episode as many questions formed in my mind, after the accident or maybe a murder of Cara's big sister. And why do her favorite Prof. is in the hospital. If it has any connection about Cara's sister.
If you want to know on how Cara will going to face any upcoming challenges in her life you must read this book.
I can't believe I finished reading this book in one sitting! I love it. The writing style is very simple and easy to follow.
I love how even if its supposed to be a mystery about codes and riddles, the narrative is direct and straight to the point. There was no use of verbose language that would otherwise distract the readers to stop and google what the word meant.
The plot also kept me on the edge of my seat, wanting more. Prof. Vee gave me major Professor Keating vibes from HTGAWM and I love how I learn about codes and decyphering meaning from them along with the characters.
I appreciated the length of the book as well. Short but sweet. Perfect for when you need a quick read during your daily commute or when waiting in line when running errands. Though there were parts where I wished it were longer, and explored more of the settings and the characters.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review. This is my honest opinion of what I felt while reading the book.
The book is short and very well narrated. It talks about riddles and codes, how codes are used to mislead and deciphering the codes in many ways.
It would be interesting to see how Cara willl he able to solve her sister's murder mystery and why the Professor was at the hospital. What is the link between them..
Can't wait to read next book.. Very anxious to know what happens next.. What riddles lie ahead of us. The Author with a cliff hanger at the end kept us in anticipation for the next book.
This is my first time reading a story with only 2 chapters. Yes it is a cliffhanger but there are a lot of things running into my head of what will happen next. I am intrigued how this story will unfold. I am also excited for upcoming riddles and codes because I am into it but not good at it. I got a copy with typo but the author states she is doing everything to change it. I am excited to the next chapter of this book.
This first episode for me is a good introduction, I love how this episode started with a good case of using codes that kind of (maybe) foreshadows how this whole series is going to be. This book definitely ended in a cliffhanger and even though this book was short Anthena was able to layout solid characters and it was an easy read for me considering that the mystery genre isn't my first pick and so I believe that anyone can get in on this series.
This is an interesting short mysterious read. It begins with school students learning about riddles and codes from their professor but turns dark and mysterious with twists and turns that keep you wanting for more. I loved how the author picked those cool names for the characters. Will be ordering the next book!
I dont have much to say about this book, cause this is too short to review. Like its a summary of a particular scene, no descriptive information of each characters and the world itself
It was super easy read. Like a 15 minute read and your done. It was a good story telling and I can't wait to read the rest.
I enjoyed reading this book. I am excited about how the events will turn out in the next episodes. I'm looking forward to how the character will be able to solve her sister's death and as well as why the Professor was in the hospital! A cliff-hanger! I like it.
Can you decipher the riddling code in your life? Most people don't understand that code is used everyday and riddles. But the story explains how it is. And as the series goes off more shall be explained. I can't wait to find out what happens next.
I am honestly happy with this bite sized mystery. The fact that it is short makes it a perfect bedtime read and at the same time makes you want to know more! I have so Much questions that i want to read the next one asap! Although i wish it was longer, i did enjoy it very much
Although it was on a slow start for me, the first episode offered a great introduction to the story. The cliffhanger was really intriguing which made me wish for the narrative to be a little bit longer.
Given that this is brief (less than 20 pages long), there's not much to say at this point. However, I could tell that this is going to be a promising series.
