If there's one person Akari can't stand, it's Abe: the big-headed, bigfoot ace of the karate club... right until he floors her with an unexpected confession! Even as Abe's embarrassingly straightforward (and frequent) declarations throw her for a loop, Akari finds herself unwittingly drawn to him over the course of summer break and the school festival... "Let's play a game. We're gonna see if you can outrun me before I catch you." The race for love against this wild man-beast continues! You'll be a junkie for pushiness before you know it!
I finally got vol 2 and boy the sexual tension between Abe and Akari is so good it's a good slow burn.. and these two have cute dates.. even if Akari is keeping her walls up.. but seems someone is wanting Abes attention.. glad he's only focusing on Akari.
Although better than the first book, I still find the characters off-putting, especially Abe's aggressive pursuit of Akari. I realize that it's one of romance's oldest tropes, but it's still one that makes my skin crawl.
...there is no redeeming quality to this manga. Abe is not appealing as a love interest, even with his bod. I guess the promise of volume one just continued with more bad behavior. Definitely not a fan.
Let me be clear: this type of relationship is completely unattainable and borderline toxic in real life. But let me also say that I've given 5 stars to way worse shit 👀
Still leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Abe is not cutting it. Like I enjoy some pushy male leads like Shou Naruse or possessive others… but Abe hears Yae say “No” and thinks of it as a competition. Its toxic in its own way. And the thing is, he is not a bad guy (different to others…cof cof) but well
Sometimes I hate him for being too pushy and sometimes I like how smooth he is. I don´t really know what to think about Abe. Akari sweety, I'm so sorry you have to endure this, keep doing your best!!

Yup still really like this one!!! It’s so cute!!! I know I know, Abe is way too pushy. But he’s also really earnest in his pursuit of winning Akari over. He’s isn’t fluffing her up in order to get his way. Yeah he’s over the top in everything he does, he’s just that confident. Because he works extremely hard for everything he does and has 100% focus on his goals, so of course he’s going to put all of his focus and drive into wooing the only girl to ever make him question himself.
Of course his way of doing things is hilarious and his cockiness will be a turnoff for Akari. But she’s beginning to see him as a fully fleshed out individual. From hearing about how determined he’s been since he was a little boy to seeing how loved he is by his peers and karate friends. And slowly but surely she’s falling for this overbearing brute. I absolutely love that Abe-kun isn’t some suave Don Juan, he’s only ever had eyes for Akari. Squee!!! 😆😆😆. That school play bit is so funny. The production manager was making me laugh with his utter disgust with Abe.
Now that there’s a love rival (who is way too likable to ever hate imo), will Akari be brave enough to be honest with herself and her new feelings towards Abe? Also, love how she’s really standing up for herself against Abe’s pushiness. Yeah, she still kinda let’s him get his way, but she’s making him work for it too. Now that she’s seen a bit more of him, we need to see her in her element too. Hopefully in volume three 🤞
So this particular volume was one that if I didn't like it, I would move away from this series. However, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this to continue this series. This has a guy who is in love with one of his classmates but he's really aggressive about it. I would say this is for 16+ because of a censored part plus a couple of moments of a compromised position. This volume gave a lot more backstory on Abe-kun which I truly appreciated especially with his motivations. Plus the play was Rapunzel which is unexpected because it normally is Snow White or Cinderella which I appreciated also I am truly excited to read the rest of this series. 4.5 out of 5 stars
Tried giving it a second chance by continued reading volume 2 but the Abe makes me so uncomfortable. He’s very pushy and always doing whatever he wants without asking FL. He even left a bruise on her body (hickey), even though she didn't want to, and he's constantly doing similar moves. If Abe was an ugly , I'm sure everyone would criticize his bullying and abusive actions very negatively, as it really should be, instead of finding it romantic.
Love the crossover on the Rapunzel show thou, if the prince can’t even climb the tower does he really deserve the girl? The twist is the end where Rapunzel ends up with Tarzan!
This manga is really cute! We follow Akari, a young girl in high school who has a friendship with Abe kun. He's in the karate club at school and has feelings for her, but he's an alpha "gorilla" and doesn't know how to express his feelings. I'm really enjoying this one! The art is beautiful and it makes me laugh.
So cuteeeeeee. Omgggg I can’t handle this. And the fact this is shojo that isn’t afraid to show a more then just innocent romance is nice. It just makes it more realistic to me. Idk that might be me.
Boy, that Abe-Kun just refuses to give up on Yae! And she is starting to have feelings for him, too. He lets everybody know that she is his girl. I gave this episode 5 stars and plan on reading Volume 3 next.
I think my thoughts have really changed with this volume. Abe-Kun is honestly getting on my nerves with some of his treatment of the main protagonist, and the bit with the hickey was honestly gross!
