This ain't no Disney story, that's for sure. It's dark, intense, sizzling, and masterful. Scarlett and Derek are... wow! The twists and dark turns.... The addiction is real.
For me, this was a departure from what I've come to know and enjoy about Nicole's work (not a bad thing). There's usually some dark undertones but this was a whole new level. Reading is believing. I voluntarily reviewed and Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This was my first truly DARK romance. LOTS of deviant and terrible things happened in this. I mean it revolves around human trafficking so you can leave the rest up to your imagination.
The things that happened were pretty hard to stomach most of the time. It wasn't the kind of erotic BDSM I would want to read. I like romances that have consent play a big part in the BDSM, like the Desperate Measures series.
I don't want to say I hated this, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone and I wouldn't say I particularly liked it either. Unless you are into pretty dark stuff and want to travel outside of the normal cookie cutter romances then I would say skip it. Or unless you are morbidly curious like I was then by all means go for it.

The ONE novel that every parent of a daughter should read.
BEAUTY AND THE CAPTOR by Nicole Casey is a DARK yet amazing study into human nature and the redemptive character of love. Thrown into the depths of depravity and the training of sex slaves and their trafficking, Derek and Scarlett find in each other the key to unlocking them from that nightmare. Written with the descriptive detail and eloquent prose for which author Nicole Casey is well-known, BEAUTY AND THE CAPTOR is a complex yet compelling tale full of the harsh realities of an unspeakable evil and the inspiring willingness, born from unconditional love, to first escape and then rise above that evil. Don’t get me wrong, reading BEAUTY AND THE CAPTOR is not easy. As I read, I alternately felt sick, cried, couldn’t sleep, and yet was compelled to keep reading because Scarlett and Derek were under my skin and I HAD to find out what happened to them. That being said, I could kiss Nicole Casey for making sex trafficking a literary REALITY - no sugar coating. Since author Nicole Casey builds her characters by placing the reader within the “normal” life and mind of her characters, it is easy to understand that readers often fall in love with those characters and identify with them strongly. Then she lets readers discover other attributes of those characters through the nuances of thought, the re-evaluation of ideas, or the revelation of plans from the character’s past are revealed by the action, reactions, and events within the plot of the story. While my heart broke into a million pieces for Scarlett (Skar) and moved from rage to acceptance towards Derek, I couldn’t help but wonder at the strength of the human spirit to acclimate to the most degrading, painful and mind-numbing existence and not just endure to survive it, but to stand strong, and then come back from it. For me, that hope, that strength of spirit is what Nicole Casey wants her readers to understand and perhaps be inspired by them. I had to give BEAUTY AND THE CAPTOR a 5+STAR rating because of that message, but readers, please be advised; while the writing is great, the characters rich, and the plot gripping, BEAUTY AND THE CAPTOR will open your eyes to an expanding evil in the world. Sex trafficking is the fastest growing criminal enterprise in the world today and a reason to cherish the children around you all the more. Purchase your copy of BEAUTY AND THE CAPTOR!

Derek And Scarlett's Deep Journey Into Slavery Is One Of Suffering And Survival As Childhood Friends Become Captor And Captive In The Name Of Revenge!
Deep and dark and delicious! Reader beware, the Beauty and the Captor series is a very dark journey into slavery. Book one is very dark, two is darker yet, while three lightens up as the story wraps up the series and provides a short but sweet and well-deserved HEA.
In Her Beast, Scarlett, nearly twenty, lives a quiet life with her father. There is nothing warm or comforting about her home. She works at a photo shop. Her only refuge is in her books and the fantasy world that she often retreats to. The one bright spot in her memory is from when she was eight and placed in a foster home after losing her mother. Thirteen year old Derek had been attentive to her - the last person who showed her kindness. Years later, against her will, she fantasizes about him forcing her to submit to him. Derek Vaughan, twenty-five, had a happy childhood until James Donovan broke into his home, shot his parents, and took Scarlett. At thirteen Derek entered foster care. He was locked in a basement for almost two years, where he was beaten, starved, and sexually abused before Marcos Caballero rescued him. He owed Marocs his life and had been eager to please him despite his guilt, though the girls he trained for Marcos had volunteered or were talked into pleasure slavery to escape poverty. When he pushes her away she wonders if his feelings for her are only situational, fearful he'll leave when he gets bored. But before they come to terms with their new reality, Scarlett is stolen from Derek's protection and everything changes. Desperate, Derek enlists James Donovan's help. The story spans about one month.
In Her Dom, Derek and Scarlett continue to struggle with the aftermath of her brutal captivity. Derek reluctantly agrees to Scarlett's request to assume the roles of dom and sub. She wants him to break her so she can rebuild herself. She wants positive memories of submission to replace the horrid ones in her head. Derek recognizes she is naturally submissive in the bedroom and devises a plan. He takes her to his secret home and begins, but a few days later Mateo Lopez, Marcos's associate, shows up at his gate. Mateo demands to see Scarlett and orders Derek to do a job for him in five days. He also claims Scarlett for himself once her retraining is complete. Derek senses that he won't survive Mateo's job, so he has five days to help Scarlett find inner strength and devise a plan that at the very least saves her, if not him, as a new danger threatens the future they had hoped for. This story spans about two and one half weeks, not including the epilogue.
There are several holes in the plot and weak explanations within the series. Most are eventually addressed after the fact, but not all. The characters and their story, however, outweigh any frustration relating to gaps. Derek and Scarlett's story takes you on a deep dark journey into slavery. Getting into their heads explains how things aren't always seen in black or white, but in shades of grey. It is fascinating to see their progression from childhood friends to master and slave, then to lovers and dom/sub.
Derek and Scarlett's unconventional love story keeps you hooked till the end. The POV alternates between Derek and Scarlett. It is nicely written, with only an occasional error. The plot is somewhat complex. There are explosive secrets and unfolding facts that add an element of suspense, though not every question gets a sound answer and some answers feel like an afterthought. The characters are well-defined. I rate this book four stars.

*This trilogy isn’t for the faint hearted*
This trilogy is very well written and each book has its dark side but the story is compelling throughout. The relationships are believable but complicated. Although it was dark in places the story kept me riveted throughout.
Book one) Her Beast introduces us to Derek, who works as a slave trainer and Scarlett, his latest subject. Unlike most of the girls that Derek trains to sell to the highest bidder, and have chosen to live that life, Scarlett has been kidnapped as a way for Derek to get his revenge on her criminal father. Scarlett lives a very mundane life working in a photo processing shop, with books her best friends. Scarlett and Derek have a history from when they were children, but that was over a decade ago, and initially, she doesn’t recognise him as this cruel, sadistic man that is subjecting her to this degradation. But as the training continues, Derek awakens something in Scarlett, and although she’s feisty, she can’t help finding herself more attracted to Derek and this lifestyle by the day. Derek is attracted to Scarlett and as he spends more time training her, he starts to consider how would things work if he kept her. Even though Derek’s boss has already arranged a sale, he is sorely tempted to run away with her. He knows the way a lot of the owners treat their ‘pets’, and although Derek considers himself a monster, he knows there are worse monsters than him, and he really doesn’t want Scarlett to be subjected to those extremes. When Derek finds Scarlett being punished by one, Derek makes a decision that changes the course of events forever.
Book two) Her Savior sees both Derek and Scarlett on the run. As the days go by, their relationships as master and pet and as lovers get closer and more intimate. They know that they made the right decision, but just how far do they have to run and will they ever be free. Derek knows that the network is complicated and far reaching. They’ve not only wronged his bosses but there is a buyer out there that is equally invested in Scarlett’s return and Derek’s demise. When he lets his guard down, Scarlett is taken and Derek understands exactly what she will be subjected to and makes a deal with his enemy to try to find her faster.
Book three) Her Dom sees Derek finding Scarlett, but it took him longer than he had hoped and it all depends on Scarlett if she can get better. The physical wounds from her trauma will heal but it’s her psychological wounds that he’s worried about. He can still see Scarlett’s fire even if she can’t see it herself. They work together trying to bring her out the other side, and although Scarlett’s idea is initially met with doubt by Derek, together they persevere. But are they free? Derek had more than one boss and Scarlett had a lot of interested parties. They may have to come up with a plan to enable them to finally be safe and free together.
An dark but excellent trilogy.

Her Beast
Well that’ll teach me to read all the way to the end of a blurb. I was not expecting the story to stop where it does. It’s a softer cliff-hanger than some I’ve been left with, but there’s definitely more story to tell. There’s a lot about this story that reminds me of the Silent Daughter series by Stella Noir and Linnea May. The chemistry between the lead characters, the "kidnap" and "kept" relationship, even the slightly squicky, squirmy feeling I’m left with for having enjoyed reading it. Now I’m slightly desperate to find out where the story goes next.
Her Savior
This book takes us to places darker and more brutal than the first book did. I was taken to some of the same places in this book as I was in Deep Into the Darkness by Lucy Wild. Unlike the first book of this series, there isn’t even the illusion of a relationship to ‘pretty up’ the acts Scarlett is forced to endure. There are elements in Her Savior that are more psychological thriller than any other genre. That means that some of the worst cruelty a man can inflict on a woman is highlighted within these pages. So, be warned that this is not subject matter for all audiences. There are scenes that will be triggering to some. I suspect I can see the threads of what the final book may look like, and I am very excited to see how it plays out.
Her Dom
An explosive ending to the series. After watching Derek and Scar reunite, be ripped apart, and reunite again, I knew getting to their happily-ever-after wasn’t going to be simple or easy. Both of them have physical and emotional wounds that need to heal but fate isn’t prepared to give them the time to complete that. Just when things look like they’re about to even out, a new complication arises. I love watching the connection between Scar and Derek, and I adored the way this book, this series, ended.

Scarlett locks up her workplace and walks quickly along the cold road home a van skids to a halt behind her. She looks back to check and sees two men get out so she wakes and walks on. The next thing she knows is she is grabbed injected and bundled into the van then her clothes are ripped off. She awakes naked in a locked room then a man enters who tells her to obey his orders or she will be punished.
Her Savior
Derek and Scarlett are on the run hoping to escape Marcos's goons but then Scarlett is taken and Derek is desperate to find her going through hell knowing what she is being subjected to and fearful of the state she would be in if he did ever locate her. He reaches out to the man she grew up thinking was her father but still there is no trace of her then he gets he gets a text.
Her Dom
Having rescued Scarlett Derek is watching her slowly heal but her mental scars will also have to be addressed. To this end Scarlett wants him to be the Master again and help her find herself. Feeling guilty and hating himself he reluctantly agrees but has to fight himself to go through with it. She seems to be responding and they have hope for the future but then a visitor calls and Derek knows it is not finished yet as the visitor is Marcos' boss Mateo.

This is the perfect way to get all three books in this dark, intense and sinfully delicious series with one click and no waiting! This is a great pick for fans of dark romance. This is my frank, freely posted review. Books included are: Her Beast, Her Savior and Her Dom.
This series is deeply dark, intense and filled with an abundance of horrors. This series is not for the faint of heart! Scar and Derek's story is complex and to say the very least, complicated. The story line is full of drama, lust, twists, shocks, dark desires, and an unquenchable thirst for vengeance. It features graphic content that could be triggers for some and just objectionable to others. (Rape, abuse, torture, and heavy BDSM). So be aware and if you are in doubt you should probably give this series a pass. What Scar is put through intense and unimaginable. This book will put your emotions and heart through a wringer. One thing is for sure, this is certainly a series of books that keeps you turning pages. These are complex, complicated, and flawed characters. The world they live in is harsh and gritty. Filled with intense and raw scenes, it will not appeal to everyone. However, if you enjoy dark romances, BDSM relationships, and a romance as heartbreaking as it is heart melting, I highly recommend it.

Both of them lost in feelings and cravings, neither did understand, with vengeance hanging in the air. A very dark story, which might trigger some, yet giving us interesting view in heads of captured and the captor.

With the beginning we was lulled into security, however Scarlett did struggle with being normal again. And then it was not safe anymore. This was hyper super extra dark. So much abuse. So much pain, blood, struggle. Messed up mind. It was crazy. But Derek did never gave up, he searched for her, never stopping, going to length nobody would.lets just hope she is not damaged beyond the reparation.

I will admit to being one of those readers who prefer to wait til they have all the books in the serial before reading. I hate to be left wondering and waiting. So this was nice, to get a boxset. I was disappointed, I must admit, to not getting a cover. I am one of those readers who choose a book based on cover and now if I want a cover the cost is over $10 at amazon ca so I feel frustrated. I read a great deal and I don’t like receiving arcs without covers sometimes they don’t even have a title or are listed as unknown so you can’t even search it. Most times I still buy the book once it’s out if it’s on sale for the first 34 hours so that arc readers have a chance to buy. I’m just not a fan of these ‘documents vs a book’ and then I don’t feel I can buy it at that price so the whole thing frustrated me. Some authors will sell for a small price to show gratitude to their arc readers for 24 hours. Either way, all disappointment aside - I enjoyed the stories. I thought each was compelling and dark and I enjoy those. I did feel a proofer would help and since I won’t buy at that price I can only hope the author has found the edits and fixed the . 😕

This lovely boxed set contains the complete Beauty and Her Captor Trilogy. Meet Derek and Scarlett (Scar), this is their wild and crazy roller coaster ride to HEA with a few twists of darkness. Scarlett was just your average girl but filled with sadness. Derek was an evil man that broke girls in. Tormented & broken then leave them for a horrible fate. Scarlett was his latest girl. She was taken & put into some of the worst stuff imaginable, Derek found out that she was actually a girl he knew in his past. He was not going to let it continue. He planned their escape to save her from a horrible fate. Things go from bad to worse Derek vows to save her at all costs. Scarlett knows Derek will but he won't do it alone. She is going to be by his side even though he did things to her that were unimaginable. They have fallen for one another. Such a good book.

Ok, you need to go in prepared when reading this. It is dark and gritty but so sexy and so so good. This had me captivated from the very beginning and the realities this author goes through in this series is intense. I went through a plethora of emotions from crying, angry, frustrated, aroused, and everything in between. I felt everything! The best past is that I get all three stories in one box set so I was unable to put it down until I was done. I was not able to sleep afterwards because everything kept replaying in my head. I loved Scarlett and Derek and I am sure you will too!

This was a much darker read than Ms. Casey's Love By Numbers or Baby Fever series. It is an anthology/trilogy centered around Scarlett and Derek. It's dark, intense, twisted and very gritty. I thought I was prepared for this book. I was not. There are twists and turns, many which will leave your stomach around your feet or your mind saying, "WHAT?" This book steps into the human trafficking world and those who "train" women who have been kidnapped. If gritty, on the edge of your seat dark romances are your thing, pick up this anthology today!

wow what a series .. and I didnt have to wait for the rest of the parts .. I could read through once. its an intense series that will keep you trapped until the end. the characters are very well described, just like the whole story around it. I am not going to describe it in detail, everyone who likes a dark romance must read this series. all in all it gets 5 stars from me. Scarlett and Derek, I enjoyed your story.

I cannot say it enough how much I love box sets. I love being able to follow a story to the end and not lose something while waiting for the next book to come out. Scarlett is one tough woman that breaks your heart and makes you fall in love at the same time. She is sexy, strong and all woman. Derek is sexy in his coming realization that nothing is as he thought it was and makes things right. Loved this.

This box set includes trilogy of: Her beast, her savior, her dom. I haven't read these books before, but I know this author, so I knew what I was getting into. And it did not disappoint. This is the story about Scarlett and Derek. The first thing that I loved about the series is that all three stories were told in the dual POV. Derek was a very ruthless character. 5 stars read. I first read these books individually, but I really liked reading them again all at once. Scarlett's life gets turned upside down because of Derek. These books definitely have dark undertones, but they are very exciting to read because of the suspenseful elements. There are quite a few intense situations in these books. For me this was an emotionally charged and very intense read. Nicole Casey captured my attention with this dark, but very engaging read.

Having all the books of a serie is always a good thing, because I just hate to wait for several months to wait to know what is going to happen next.
This story keeps you interested from the beggining until the end. It has very dark themes, it is intense (heavy BDSM and rape included) so beware.

This is a dark, gritty and intense romance that pulled me in and had me reading straight through from the first page of book one till the last page of book three. I love getting to read a series like that because you don't have to wonder when you'll get the next book. In Beauty and the Captor we get Derek and Scarlett's crazy, twisted journey filled with drama, suspense, danger, pain and passion. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

This book is dark, very dark and is not for the faint of heart, it’s a difficult book to read and has numerous possible triggers throughout. I experienced so many different emotions whilst reading this book. The author doesn’t hold back at all, she writes this book in a very down to earth, raw style that hit home in a very intense manner.

Beauty and The Captor by Nicole Casey. So many words come to mind trying to describe this book (dark, dominating, passion, sensuous, hot, captivating) the list goes on and on. A dark and tragic romance featuring strong and tormented characters that find a way together that is full of trials, pain, passion, and heat.

I loved this dark romance trilogy! Derek wants revenge on James Donovan, the man that killed his parents and ruined his life. He takes his daughter Scarlett and plans to make her submit to him. This is a fast-paced intense read with loads of drama, suspense and twists and turns. I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved it!
