In 2005 the author and his wife sold up in the UK and headed to Australia to buy a macadamia farm and start a new life. They had no experience of farming but Peter could tinker with all things mechanical and Claire was a proficient gardener. What else could they need? This is the story of their ten years of learning and discovery.
The book is the foundation to my pursuit of wanting to farm. From Nkhatabay, to the UK, to Mchinji, this book gave me the sense of urgency to start now than ever before. Macadmia farming isn’t only for the money but for the persistence and the life long lessons of patience, grit, and growing something from the ground up for longevity.
The ‘brain nut’ that I didn’t know I’d be so passionate about from a young age, gave me a sense of direction and perspective to look outside and do something different. That business degree really came handy :)
