Time Shards #3

Tempus Fury

Rate this book
When time shatters, the survivors must fight their way to the ends of the Earth before it's too late.

They call it "the Event"--an unimaginable cataclysm that renders 600 million years of the world's timeline into jumbled fragments. Our Earth is gone, instantly replaced by a new one made of fractured remnants of the past, present, and future. All exist alongside one another in a nightmare patchwork of "time shards"--some hundreds of miles long, and others no more than a few feet across.

With surprising help from throughout history, an American girl and her companions first must save ancient Alexandria, the last bastion of civilization, from a panzer tank invasion. Then they will face the ultimate challenge at the end of the world... the shatterfield.

Crossing it sends them on a final quest spanning time, space, and dimensions. Only then will they learn if their mission will save their world--or destroy it.

Dana Fredsti is ex B-movie actress with a background in theatrical sword-fighting. Through seven plus years of volunteering at EFBC/FCC (Exotic Feline Breeding Facility/Feline Conservation Center), Dana's had a full-grown leopard sit on her feet, kissed by tigers, held baby jaguars and had her thumb sucked by an ocelot with nursing issues. She's addicted to bad movies and any book or film, good or bad, which include zombies. Her other hobbies include surfing (badly), collecting beach glass (obsessively), and wine tasting (happily).

Along with her best friend Maureen, Dana was co-producer/writer/director for a mystery-oriented theatrical troupe based in San Diego. While no actual murders occurred during their performances, there were times when the actors and clients made the idea very tempting. Somewhere in the mists of time she lost a grip on what happened in real life and what she made up for her book.

She's written numerous published articles, essays and shorts, including stories in Cat Fantastic IV, an anthology series edited by Andre Norton (Daw, 1997), Danger City (Contemporary Press, 2005), and Mondo Zombie (Cemetery Dance, 2006). Her essays can be seen in Morbid Curiosity, Issues 2-7. Additionally she's written several produced low-budget screenplays and currently has another script under option. Dana was also co-writer/associate producer on Urban Rescuers, a documentary on feral cats and TNR (Trap/Neuter/Return), which won Best Documentary at the 2003 Valley Film Festival in Los Angeles.

Dana is currently working on the second book in the Murder for Hire series, The Big Snooze and writing erotic romance under the pen name Inara LaVey for Ravenous Romance.

I'm not sure if there will be more books in this world or not but regardless, this book rocks!!!! It has a wonderful open but tied-up ending so that if this is the last book ever written about The Event (although that would make me very, very sad) I would be content but still, there is soooooo much more that could be explored within this world that Dana & David could continue writing for decades without repeating anything (centuries if I ever figure out how to upload the minds of my favorite authors into cyborg bodies so that they can just never stop writing!). I was extremely tense many times while reading this book -- and this is a GOOD thing because it means that the world and the characters had me so invested and I'm just not sure which way things were going to go and I just CARE SO DARN MUCH!!!! The ending really had me in knots but I loved it. Really, really loved the ending! If you're into books with excellent writing, extraordinary characters, action/adventure, sort of sci-fi sort of fantastical world, dinosaurs, intelligent AIs, amusement parks (the Oni in the amusement park cracked me up!), or giant sloths you MUST read this book (actually you have to read all 3 books) immediately! Definitely 10 thumbs up!!! Seriously recommended!!!! [Also, Nellie + Hypatia=swoon!!!!]

5 stars because I enjoy D&D's style and the series rollicks along. Keeping it short to avoid spoilers.

I love time travel books... love everything about them. This book really filled the time travel category. It goes all over the place and time! My only issue is that I finished the book and there is no more to read. What the heck!? I want more NOW!

The final book in the amazing Time Shards trilogy. Amber, Cam, Blake, Harcourt, Kha-Hotep, Leila, Nellie, and Hypatia are back to face new enemies in different shards of time in their quest to save the world. A obvious must-read for those who have read books 1 and 2.

That was a pretty satisfactory, action packed ending to the trilogy. Do I want to read more about what happens next? Heck yes. Will we ever? Who knows? In the mean time, enjoy this trilogy.

Great book, perhaps not quite as good as number 2, but still a good read - like the other reviewers, I'd like to see some other books continuing on the story.

An enjoyable read but a bit disjointed at the beginning, which is understandable given the plot.
