Naughty Neighbor: Falling for Libra

Rate this book
As a romance novelist, I’m facing my worst nightmare—writer’s block.

No matter what I write, I hit delete, knowing it’s not worth publishing. The future of my career rests on the success of this new book.

So, here I am, looking at Tumblr, desperate for inspiration, when I hear a thumping. Annoyed by the music blaring through the walls, I barge into the hall and bang on my neighbor’s door.

My very hot, very naughty neighbor, Jake Morreau.

Jake is romantic, charming, and the bane of my existence. I need to work, yet he refuses to let me.

When he greets me in the hallway, ideas of a sinfully hot hero come to mind.

When he takes me out on the town, the words flow as soon as I come home.

The more time I spend with this entertaining and quick-witted man, the more I’m able to write.

My neighbor is my muse, and before I know it, I slowly become the heroine of my own story, but I don’t know how to end it.

As I write the epilogue, I’m afraid our romance won’t pan out as I’ve written.

Jake Morreau is my hero.

Then again, in my life, heroes don’t exist.

When I was little, my mom was part of the Double Day book club. She had piles and piles of books lying around the house; most of them with Fabio-esque men and a scantily clad woman set in a different century. I made up stories in my head just from looking at the covers.

When I as 9, I wrote stories using my best friend as a muse. They were romances...but for the 9-year-old. She was the only one who read them.

When I was 14, another friend gave me a Marian Keyes novel. I fell in-love with her wit, and humor with a dark side. This was my first experience with realistic fiction.

When I was 19, Nicholas Sparks forever changed my views on relationships. I learned what true love could be beautiful and difficult at the same time. I wanted it.

When I was 22, Jeannette Wells made me feel more emotion from an autobiographical novel than I thought possible. I wanted to be her.

When I was 30, Jamie McGuire and Colleen Hoover introduced me to the world of self-publishing. For the first time I thought: I could give this a try someday.

When I was 32, my someday came.

Naughty Neighbor: Falling for a Libra is the first book in the brand new series, Falling for the Stars, by both Lauren Runow and Jeannine Colette. I think this might be the sweetest, most romantic book I’ve read in a long time. The hero had me swooning from the first moment he was introduced. And the heroine, I can’t wait to tell you about her as well!

Lacey Rivers is a twenty eight year old successful indie romance novelist who doesn’t believe in love. She’s been abandoned and hurt in the past so she prefers to experience love through her fictional characters. Only this time, with the most important book of her career, it’s not happening. She’s blocked. And to make matters worse, her sexy neighbor decides to have friends over and play his music loudly. When she pounds on his door and he greets her with his beautiful smile, the perfect muse stands before her.

“Maybe you just need to dream while you’re awake.”

Jake Moreau is thirty years old and works at his family owned florist shop in Chicago. He does believe in love but is waiting to find a woman he feels the right kind of connection with. In the interim, he is enjoying the single life. Jake is everything Lacey is not, he’s extroverted, can make friends with anyone. He has seen Lacey over the last few years in the building and they exchanged pleasantries but it was clear her walls were built high and strong. So he kept his distance. But now, with her standing in his doorway full of passion, all bets are off.

“I feel like he’s the sun and I’m orbiting around him.”

Jake works himself into Lacey’s life and the more time she spends with him, the more the words flow. It might be becoming difficult to tell where her fictional world and her real world separate. And those walls she has so strongly built, they start to weaken.

“I want to show you what a real man can be.”
“And what’s that?”
“Yours.”

I loved EVERYTHING about this book. Jake was so romantic, so perceptive. He just seemed to know what Lacey needed. For the first time in his life, he is falling. But he’s falling for a woman who doesn’t believe in love.

This book made me smile so much. I loved these two together! It’s sweet, sexy, swoony, all my favorite “S” words. This is one of those books that I just took one look at the cover when it was released and said, “Yes, I’m going to love this book!” And I was right! If I had one tiny complaint, it was that all but one little chapter are in Lacey’s POV. I was dying to know what Jake was thinking.

I can’t wait for more from this series. These two authors are magic together. I want to close with the one quote from Lacey, a romance author, regarding her feelings for Jake, that for me said everything.

“There are no words.”

Colette and Runow, a duo well known for enjoyable novels, have weaved a fast past romance in their most recent book, Naughty Neighbor.

An overwhelmed romance author suffering from writer’s block, Lacey needs just the right thing to reignite her creativity. However, when she finds inspiration in her womanizing neighbor, Lacey quickly finds herself stepping outside her comfort zone and possibly opening her heart to love.

A swoon worthy hero that was unexpectedly manly yet gentle, strong yet compassionate, and very supportive. However, we struggled to connect with the heroine. At times finding her resistance and lack of acceptance towards his love, slightly baffling.

That being said, we look forward to the next book in this series.

Thank you to Jeannine Colette and Lauren Runow for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

“You’re worth more than three bad memories. You deserve to be romanced. I want to show you what a real man can be.”
“And what’s that?” I ask breathlessly.
“Yours.”

“I choose you for eternity.”

<><>Story Overview<><>
The book blurb explains what’s going on. The only thing that I will add is that I felt like this was a bit misleading….
“Jake is romantic, charming, and the bane of my existence. I need to work, yet he refuses to let me.”
.
After reading that I was expecting an insensitive jerk. But Jake was far from that. In fact, the one and only time she knocked on his door to request he turn down the music he did it immediately, without being an asshole.
So, I don’t know why he was referred to as the “bane of her existence” and a guy who “refused to let her work”. That didn’t fit with what I read.

<><>Characters<><>
<>Hero: Jake Morreau, Age: 30, Occupation: works at the family owned florist shop
~ Jake is waiting for love to find him. The right woman is out there, he just has to find her. In the meantime, he’s enjoying single life. Jake has a great relationship with his parents and siblings, he’s secure in who he is, he doesn’t have any bad relationships that traumatized him or jaded him, he comes with absolutely zero baggage. He’s outgoing and has a charismatic personality. The perfect book boyfriend.

<>Heroine: Lacey Camille Wampo (aka Lacey Rivers), Age: 28, Occupation: Contemporary Romance Author
~ Lacey is an Indie author who has had some success as she’s been on Amazon’s top 10 list Twice (you go girl!!). She may write about love, but thanks to a few things in her past (father and ex boyfriend) she doesn’t believe in love. She was raised by her single mother, who has reinforced men /love sucks. With a critical deadline looming on the horizon, her writer’s block couldn’t have come at a more in inopportune time.

<><>What I Liked<><>
~ without a doubt - Jake Morreau is my newest book boyfriend. I might even put him at the top of the list! ❤🥰. At 2%, when this conversation happened I was already falling for him…
~ Lacey: “I write romance. Not something you’d be interested in.”
~ Jake: “What makes you think a man wouldn’t read romance?”
~ Lacey: “It’s women’s fiction.”
~ Jake: “I believe in love at first sight and kisses that make your heart pound. And trust me when I say, I wouldn’t blush at a sex scene.”

~ I enjoyed the dates / outings Jake and Lacey had. The planetarium, the touristy thing, the body painting. These two had fun and that made the book fun to read.

~ even though there was low angst for the majority of the book, I still thought there was enough activity between the characters to keep me interested and not feel bored.

<><>What I Didn’t Like<><>
~ the drama at the end irritated me because it felt like it was drama for the sake of drama.
Why didn’t Lacey believe in love? Ok - she had an absent father, a jerk who has been out of her life for over five years, and a guy who used her in high school. Is that enough for this character to be jaded about love? In my opinion no. So there was a point at the end where Lacey actually got on my nerves and I was disappointed with the predictability of the plot.

<><>The Basics<><>
- Content Warning: nothing major
- Setting: Chicago
- POV: female POV only with the exception of chapter 22, which was told from Jake’s POV (this was about the 85% mark)
- Hero likeable? loved him!!!
- heroine likeable? for the most part I liked her. She got a little irritating when she couldn’t accept Jake’s love.
- h virgin? No
- First time they kiss: 38%
- First time they sleep together: 58%
- Safe sex? Initially, Yes, Condoms were used. Later they had the relevant discussions and ditched the condoms.
- First time they say I Love You: Jake says it at 75%. Lacey says it at 92%
- steamy? Yes. Descriptive bedroom scenes
- Chemistry? I thought they had great chemistry
- OW/OM drama? No
- H/h cheat? No
- Time apart? a week
- Did I skip pages? No
- Big secrets? No
- Did I cry? No
- Did I laugh? I smiled a few times.
- Did I swoon🥰? Without a doubt!! Let me say it again, Jake Morreau is swoony book boyfriend material ❤️
- Cliffhanger? No
- HEA? Yes
- Epilogue? a year later
- Recommend? Yes

<><>Quotes<><>
“Either Jake is the nicest person on the planet or evil incarnate in Ferragamo shoes, trying to butter me up.”

“Lace, I’m everyone’s type. And before you make a joke about how conceited I am, what I mean to say is, I’m a people-pleaser. Diplomatic. Tactful. I’m a total catch.”

“For the record, I’m very daring in the bedroom and incredibly sensual.”
His words are said in a deep hum.
“Is that opinion or fact?” “
Baby, it’s a proven fact.”

“The hate each other and then fall in love thing is good, but seduction by cherry stem is straight to the point.”

“I was raised by an entrepreneur with high morals, who never saw himself as a wealthy man. If I buy fine clothes, I must take care of them. If I invest, I do so in my home. And if I ever marry, I’d do it for life.”

“Even in the darkest of times, flowers put a smile on your face. It’s the only gift you can give when a life is brought into the world and also when one is taken away.”

“Loving someone so damn much that you’ll weather through the storm is what I want.”

Writing style has no style. Pacing is nonexistent.

Yet another book with too many words and not enough substance. Example…

I’m hitting Delete when there’s a knock at my door. My eyes squint as I purse my mouth, confused as to who it could be. Since I live in a secured building, all guests have to hit the buzzer downstairs. Whoever is at my door must live in my building. I pad over and open it to see Jake standing there with a glass in one hand, the other raking through his lustrous hair.

First, WTF is delete capitalized? Whatever~

Second, WTF all those damn words for a knock at the door?

Third, I’m so sick of all this “pad” shit. Unless an author wants to make a point about the character’s gait, just f’ing say she walked. Better yet, just tell me she opened the door since I can assume she walked to get there and don’t need to know - ‘I rolled my chair back, got my ass out of the chair, walked to the door, unlocked it, twisted the knob, pulled it back, and finally f’ing saw Jake’s perfect ass standing there.’ <<< No.

“Wook at my dow-ee,” she tells me, holding up a toy I haven’t seen before. This one is a baby doll with pink hair and purple eyes, wearing leopard-print pajamas.

^ I digress, but WTF do I need to know she’s never seen this particular toy before? WTF do I need to know what her godchild’s doll is f’ing wearing? None of this sets up the scene, offers key info, develops the character, etc. Writing 101… if it doesn’t move the storyline or character development forward, delete it because it’s fluff.

Too many words to say the obvious. Example…

“Thanks,” I say, closing the door even though I never told him to come in. “You didn’t have to do that.”

So, WTF state that he wasn’t invited inside when the scene clearly depicts that he knocks, she answers, and he walks in uninvited?!? Your reader doesn’t need every single tedious detail spelled out.

One more just for the hell of it…

With the brick of cheese in my hand, I start to run it over the sharp edges of the grater.

No, I really thought the brick of cheese (which I don’t f’ing even care about) wouldn’t be in your hand while you grated it~

Bottom Line

Life is too short to drown in a sea of powderpuff fluff moving along like a snail with a broken shell. No rating since I couldn’t make it past the third chapter.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED!!!

When you fall for the hero within the first few pages, and you can’t stop swooning, and you never want to put the book down...that is talented writing. And I so love when that happens!

Within the first two chapters, I was absolutely SMITTEN. I was hypnotized by his charm. I wanted and needed more Jake.

Just when I didn’t think he could get any more sexy and adorable and lovable, he went and said or did something to make me fall even harder. With each turn of the page he got better and better.

Lacey is a romance author who lives in the apartment next to Jake. They’ve been civil to each other over the last couple of years, making eye contact, exchanging hellos...even a face to face at his door, with him half naked. That sea foam green towel...

One night she had to knock on his door and ask him to turn down the music so she could concentrate on writing. This was just the beginning to their fun, entertaining, passionate, and heart-warming relationship.

I adored Lacey, in all her stained, oversized sweatshirt glory. She was a little adorkable, super witty, and wasn’t afraid to say what was on her mind. I wanted to be her BFF.

Lacey & Jake’s chemistry was like a sparkler...
it’s lit,
it’s sizzling,
and it’s ready to burn brighter.
With each each date, their friendship grew, their bond got stronger, and their willpower weakened.

The banter in this story made me smile.
The kisses were fire.
The passion put hearts in my eyes.

I love the way Jake was so sure and confident...about everything. He was a little bit arrogant, but he made it cute. I love how he loved his family. I love how he made everyone smile. He was kind, he was understanding, he was compassionate. He was a beautiful man, inside and out. Have I mentioned I love Jake?

Their dates were so unique and romantic and fun and SEXY. I’ve never wanted to paint someone as badly as I did after reading a certain scene. It was HOT.

Watching their relationship go from neighbors to friends to lovers was super fun and enjoyable and I loved every word. I highly recommend this!!

P.S. I loved the titles to Lacey’s books, (The Racer, The Suit, The Artist), how they alluded to a certain favorite series of mine, (The Sexton Brothers) from a certain favorite writing duo of mine.

Naughty Neighbor is super fantastic. I loved this quick paced neighbors to friends to lovers romance! The story is overall super cute and very well written, which is no surprise since these two authors are great storytellers. I love their books separate and together. This was definitely a quick read and once I started I couldn't stop. I found the plot to be super refreshing, not only the neighbors that pine for each other aspects, the overall storyline, but also that the heroine is a romance novelist and the hero is a florist. I love love love that the hero was a florist! How cool is that! I love heroes that are more "regular" guys with regular jobs, they're just way more relatable to me. And this hero, Jake, let me tell you is one of the swooniest I've read. I just loved him! The story is full of surprises and has a little of a role reversal with the girl being the one afraid of commitment and the hero being all in. I loved the ending so much, it was fantastic!

Naughty Neighbor is Book 1 in Jeannine and Lauren's new Zodiac theme series of standalones "Falling For the Stars", this is appropriately the Libra book. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series, I'm sure they will be just as fantastic! Absolutely recommend!!!

This was a pretty cute concept. I liked this horoscope based hero. Since I think we've seen a calendar monthly kind. This was based on Libra traits. Jake was an enigma but charming, intellectual, sociable. He was a good family guy and romantic. Lacey is an author who is currently on a writer's block when she meets her neighbor Jake. They become friends and Jake helps inspire her book in a way. She uses him as muse of sorts.

From there lots of subtle flirting and mixed signs. Lacey is on a fictional guys are better kick, she doesn't trust men after her past relationships. Jake seemed to be a womanizer but he's just waiting for the right woman. This whole thing between Jake and Lacey is pretty entertaining and they go on these dates but nothing more than friends. Somehow Lacey gives Jake his shot but it felt all too good to be true.

They were actually pretty good together and worked. But of course when insecurities and Lacey's worrying about where things are going her walls go back up. Lacey did take Jake being an inspiration for her book a bit too far, a little close to home. It became a sort of reflection of their relationship and it brought out issues she hasn't dealt with. She didn't seem to believe in the romance she writes.

In the end it all works out. I liked how it the resolution. Lacey coming into her own realization. Jake learned more about her through her books.
I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

Thanks for to Lauren Runow for the my copy.

A LOVE STORY WRITTEN IN THE STARS!

“I’m falling for a girl who doesn’t believe in love.”

“Art imitates life imitates art”
in this heartfelt romance between an artistic florist and an Indie romance novelist who doesn’t believe in love. Can a woman like that who writes novels about love actually fall in love? What a marvelously brilliant concept by Colette-Runow in crafting a skeptical romance writer finding love herself with the perfect man proving to her that it actually exists. My oh my, if that isn’t poetic justice. Heroine Lacey’s goal is to create literary magic in her love stories, but this author duo has achieved it right out of the gate with the lst standalone of 12 Signs of the Zodiac romances. First batter up? Libra.

“Lacey … I’m everyone’s type. A people pleaser. Diplomatic. Tactful. I’m a total catch.” ~~ “A man who can talk stars and flowers.”

Hottie next-door neighbor Jake Moreau (30) is a charismatic florist with the soul of a romantic Renaissance Man and the apparent libido of a narcissistic rake, which Lacey presumes from the revolving door of women in and out of his apartment. Actually he’s just waiting for “the one” and secretly considers her super hot, but not his type underneath those wine-stained sweatshirts and messy buns. Both remain on their side of the shared apartment wall and stick to friendly hellos, but nothing more. Misjudgment? So be it. It may have stayed that way except for two monumental things – Lacey’s choked by crippling writer’s block and a looming deadline, and Jake's loud music through the walls. Not the typical icebreaker confrontation, but now they really notice each other and all those assumptions fly out the window …

“You deserve to be romanced. I want to show you what a real man can be.” ~~ “And what’s that?” ~~ “Yours.”
“I’m preparing you. To be totally and tragically enraptured by me.”

This romance pays homage to some of our favorite things in romance, including films, and nobody does it better than Jake. Everything he did blew me away. Indeed, Jake is all that and much more in this sensual, sweet, liberating, and lusciously romantic love story. Friends to lovers and opposites attract really get a workout as extrovert Jake tries to school closed-off Lacey in the existence of love. Her vulnerability is on lockdown because of the fallacy of love and fear of a broken heart. But, Jake is nothing if not patient and that made him even more of a desirable keeper. The guy was a pure gem. The irony of Lacey writing romances that are the exact opposite of her beliefs is not lost on perceptive Jake, who is a total sucker for true love. He has a plan to help the girl-who-never-dates with her issues, and she is all in when he unwittingly turns out to be her secret muse and doesn’t know it. Is it all research or something deeper? Both those things just may be mutually incompatible.

“A real man has patience when it comes to women. Not just the ones he wants to bed. He listens. That is what makes a sensual lover.” Well, dayum, Jake.

Their story was so delish, like he’s in on the secret that she doesn’t know yet. This beguiling man who believes in love and has an answer for everything. Jake totally swept me off my feet and those amazing non-date dates -- the sensuality and intimacy -- were all kinds of wow that had the power to scramble a girl’s wits. What a paradox that he’s exactly the perfect man that we crave and covet in romances, but never exists in real life, which is the whole point that he disproves. Jake is oh-so-real, and beyond perfection. I kept swooning over him until my swoon meter finally broke from overuse. I also empathized with Lacey’s struggles while being coaxed out of her shell to embrace her emotions and fears of falling in love. Theirs was a beautiful, wondrous, and heartfelt love journey that gave me all the feels, angst, excitement and possibilities from Jake’s wooing. And that huge argument was one of the most real and raw in-the-trenches exchanges I’ve ever read. He truly is one of a kind that we’ve never experienced. The side characters were great, the dialogue first-rate, the foreplay and sex was on a celestial plane just like the Zodiac and stars. Even Lacey’s bestie and his family were ones we wish we had in our own lives. This romance will touch your heart and make you root and holler for the power and truth of love.

“I didn’t choose to love you. This love chose me. I choose you for eternity.”

Naughty Neighbor is a fun light read and I enjoyed this collaboration between Jeannine Colette and Lauren Runow. This novel was sexy and swoony and you will love Jake and Lacey. Jake was the ultimate book boyfriend and I fell in love with him right from the start. I loved the friendship these two had and the fun dates he and Lacey went on and I loved seeing the progression of their relationship from neighbors to friends to lovers. The story was well written and it all blended well so you couldn't tell who wrote what. The secondary characters provided excellent support and balance to the main characters. This was an excellent start to this new series featuring interesting characters with great backstories and will have you laughing and swooning. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to all lovers of contemporary romance.

This is the first book that I have read by these authors and I really enjoyed reading it. These authors have a fabulous style of writing and this story flows beautifully and once you start reading it you will not be able to pit it down. This romance book is easy to read and a real page turner.

Lacey is a writer who loves her nob but struggles a lot with writers block. She is very beautiful and has a fantastic personality to go with it. Her problem at the minute is that she needs to finish her book and sh is struggling, her muse seems to have upped and left. Well that is until she meets to sexy next door neighbor Jake who has a cheeky chappie personality too.

Jake is a great guy that is very attractive,is very sweet and sexy and is so curious about the woman on the other side of the wall. He is works as a florist and he is totally waiting for the right woman to come into his life. Once these two neighbors connect after Jake does quite a lot of the leg work they hit it off.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved these two characters who were very real in my mind and they had fabulous banter which I loved. The connection that they both have is also very sweet to see and they both go together with the cheekiness and sweet nature. I feel the reader can really connect with both of these and the way the story is written flows and is a fantastic romance book that everyone must ,must read. I will defiantly look out for more work by these authors in the future.

5* Sexy Neighbor Stars

Lacey is a romance author who is facing a deadline to write her final book in a series but is struggling due to writer’s block and nothing is helping her overcome this including her noisy, sexy as hell neighbor Jake, whose music is blaring through the walls. When she storms over to his apartment to complain she does not expect him to be so friendly and inviting. They soon become fast friends and Lacey becomes inspired by Jake when he takes her out on “dates” and she soon finds her “mojo” to write again.

When Jake develops feeling for Lacey, she becomes afraid because she does not believe in love, as she has been hurt in the past and abandoned by men including her father. The love she believes in is her fictional men.

Jake was everything a girl could want, super sexy, very funny and romantic beyond words. He was so patient and attentive towards Lacey. The banter between them was hilarious. I had quite a few laugh out loud moments.

Naughty Neighbor was such a fun and sexy read. I absolutely loved every minute of this well written story and fell in love with the side characters who were pivotal to their story. I am very excited to read the next book in this wonderful series.

An ARC was provided, and all opinions are my own.

If you are looking for a fun, entertaining book that will make you smile and have you giggling look no further than Naughty Neighbor by Jeannine Colette and Lauren Runow. Both of these authors are fairly new to me and I’m really struggling to understand why, after reading this fabulous story I realise I need to check out other works by this very talented pair.
Lacy is a romance writer suffering from writers block and when she goes over to her neighbor to ask him to turn the music down, something happens, is it inspiration or is it lust she feels for the hot florist named Jake.....
This book captivated me from the first page and there was no putting down until the final line had been read, I fell hard and fast for the swoon worthy Jake and I loved the banter Lacy and Jake shared through his great read. The chemistry is sizzling and the banter is witty and this is Romantic Comedy/ Friends to Lovers at its best and I highly recommend it to all romance lovers.

OMG, I loved Jake and Lacey. The connection between them was so good. Loved their story so much. I was smiling the entire time I was reading it. When Lacey’s heart was breaking, my heart was breaking right along with her. I was able to feel every emotion that they both were feeling. Lauren and Jeannine created a wonderful world with awesome characters that will have your swooning and falling in love with them. I can’t wait to read what is coming next in this series.

The worst thing that can happen to a writer is the dreaded writer's block an when Lacey finds herself needing to come up with a great story in order to get herself out of self-publishing the words just do not want to come. That is until her sexy next door neighbor becomes the muse that sets the words on fire. But will the relationship be real or just only on the pages of her story? Can Jake prove to Lacey that true love is out there and not just a figment of her imagination. I do not think I have read such a swoon-worthy book in quite some time. From the minute the reader meets Jake he becomes exactly what every woman dreams of. Excellent crafting of characters and a wonderful storyline make this another great read from Jeannine Colette and Lauren Runrow

I absolutely loved this. It was so swoony and sweet and just delightful. Lacey was a fun heroine - a contemporary romance author who can write the heck out of a good love story, but doesn't believe love is in the cards for her. Her neighbor, Jake (not from State Farm, but I kept saying it over and over in my head!!!), is pure book boyfriend bliss. Funny, self-confident, kind, emotionally available, and he's a freaking florist!! All sensitive and thoughtful. I lurved him very muchly!!! And I really thought it was clever how the life of a contemporary romance author was woven into the story. It was so much fun!

Naughty Neighbor: Falling for a Libra is a cute read. Lacey is a romance novelist who doesn't believe in love. She battling a little writer's block but her neighbor is there to help. Lacey is sweet and nice. She's a down to earth girl. Jake is a florist. He's sweet and nice and helps Lacey with her writer's block. He's swoon-worthy. I loved reading this one. Their story is sweet but of course, there are bumps along the way that they have to work out.

I love all the collaboration books from Jeannine and Lauren. This one being my new favorite. Lacey has had her heart broken way too many times and now doesn’t believe in love or finding her soulmate. Jake is a true romantic and is waiting to find his soulmate. He’s her new muse. Can Jake mend her heart and can Lacey allow him to do just that? Highly recommended.

GAHHHHH!! I absolutely adored Jake and Lacey. I couldn’t get enough of this story and read it all in one go. It had everything I look for in a romance all wrapped up in a perfect little package. The balance of steaminess, angst and humour was perfect; one minute my heart was aching and the next I was laughing at their antics. Jake Moreau is such a swoon worthy hero and was the perfect match for Lacey Rivers.
I’ve never read anything by this duo before, but I’ll definitely be working my way through the rest of the books in this series.

5 Star Review of Naughty Neighbor by Jeannine Colette and Lauren Runow
I loved this entertaining read from relatively new to me authors Jeannine Colette and Lauren Runow. When I read the blurb for this book I was hooked. From start to finish I was fully invested in the story that the authors wove about romance author Lacy and florist Jake.
I fell hard and fast for Jake, he ticked the boxes for me and I loved how the friendship between these neighbors morphed onto romance. The banter between them was witty and I had numerous laugh out loud moments whilst reading the Naughty Neighbor.
Jake was romantic and swoon worthy and ticked the boxes for me; I could certainly see how he would end up being the muse for Lacy’s novel. What happens when her book is finished? Will it be the end of their blossoming relationship?
This was a fun, easy to read story that left me with a smile on my face.

I fell in love with these characters so fast! Especially Jake. Swoon! He is the perfect bookboyfriend and he knows it.

In this book our heroine is a romance author who doesn‘t beliebe in love due to her past and our hero is her naughty, swoonworthy neighbour.

This story was a quick and easy read for me. I read it in one go because I just couldn‘t stop. But I have to admit.. I found Lacey our heroine pretty annoying in the end. Her whole attitude towards love especially as a romance writer was very hypocritical.

Jake on the other hand was amazing from the start to the end! He showed our heroine that even a hot single guy can want love like any girl.

I am excited to read more books in this series and the concept of the books is really unique.

This has to be the sweetest, most swoon worthy book I have read in quite some time!! I loved both of our characters so much, but Jake, my goodness he made me swoon within the first few moments of us meeting him. He was everything you could want in a man: perceptive, genuinely nice, attentive, adoring, caring, a best in the bedroom, and just so fucking sweet. In the era of asshole & bully boyfriends, it's just so nice to read about one who genuinely adores his woman!

Lacey is a romance writer with a serious case of writers block, but she finds her muse in her neighbor. These two have such amazing banter, such firey chemistry, and and the passion between them LEAPS off the page. These two are just so perfect for each other, but the only issue is that Lacey doesn't believe in love. And let me tell you, I loved the irony of that: a woman who writes about true, soul crushing love who doesn't believe in it herself, is just perfect. And the slow way she falls for all the perfection that is Jake? It's just so epic!!!

This is such a wonderful start to the series and I can't wait for more!!

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**

When the dynamic duo of Lauren Runow and Jeannie Colette release a book, you know it's gonna be great! This book is the first in a new series and I'm already so in love with it, I can't wait for the next one!

Lacey is quiet, mostly stays at home, hasn't dated since her boyfriend cheated on her five years ago. Her mom has never gotten over Lacey's father walking out on her and leaving her to raise Lacey on her own. Lacey has a jaded view of men from her experiences. Her handsome neighbor has a parade of women in and out of his apartment, reinforcing her belief.

When his quiet, yet alluring neighbor bangs on his door to turn down his music, Jake really notices Lacey for the first time. She piques his interest and the personable florist becomes friends with the contemporary romance author. I loved these two together! Their dates were so much fun! Lacey came out of her shell and Jake was the perfect boyfriend! Her writer's block - poof! And I loved the Easter Egg - The Sexton Brothers!!! The body painting got to me just like it did in Tanner's story! I loved it so much again! And Jake always knew the perfect things to say!

“Says the woman who weaves words to make romantic heroes that women only dream about.”
“So, you agree they don’t really exist,” I challenge.
“Maybe you just need to dream while you’re awake.”

This book is just the best! It's a feel good wonderful read!

Fun and flirty and everything I want in a read to escape. I absolutely loved the premise of the book with the author and her writer's block and her hot neighbor florist who is completely swoon worthy. The banter and humor, the development of both the story and the characters was everything. I could not put this read down and will definitely be going back to it again when I need an escape from life.

Naughty Neighbor is so sweet! This may be my favorite collab from these authors yet.

Romance writer Lacey has writer’s block, and finds her muse in her hunky next door neighbor, Jake. I have read this trope before, but what I liked about Naughty Neighbor is that Jake knows that Lacey is using him for inspiration. She’s been burned in the past and has some abandonment issues, so Lacey thinks that love isn’t in the cares for her. But Jake is sweet and sexy, makes her feel desirable and come out of her shell.

So when The Conflict comes, it’s not because Jake feels betrayed that she used their relationship for her book, but that he’s fallen head over heels for her... and she can’t let herself or won’t let herself feel the same in return. Will Lacey realize just how different Jake is before it is too late?

This story was so fun. I loved these two, and all of their cute dates. Starting as friends, slowly becoming more... it was all wonderful to read.

I wish there had been more than just the one chapter from Jake’s POV because I really loved getting inside his head during the breakup, and I would have loved to have gotten to see more of his side as he was falling for Lacey.

The way Lacey’s book comes into play in their makeup, and then her previous books in that epilogue, was brilliant! I will definitely keep this on my reread list! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

I really enjoyed Naughty Neighbor by Jeannine Colette and Lauren Runow. The story is about a romance novel author named Lacey, who lives in Chicago. Lacey has always been let down by the men in her life. Her father left her mother before she was born and she barely hears from him. Her high school boyfriend broke up with her the day after she gave him her virginity, and her last ex-boyfriend, who didn't approve of her dream of becoming a romance author, left her for another woman. Because of her past experiences with men, Lacey doesn't believe in love, which is rather ironic for a woman who writes about romance. Lacey stays at home almost every day, and is usually dressed in dirty sweats while she is working on her next book.

Jake is Lacey's next door neighbor and he is a florist for his family's company that was founded by his grandfather. The first time that he met Lacey he was standing at his door dressed only in a seafoam green towel, and he was saying goodbye to a young woman who had obviously spent the night with him. Jake is a social butterfly, likes to dress in expensive clothes, and enjoys having one night stands with attractive young women, while he searches for a woman who is attractive, is not afraid to speak her mind, and is confident, who he can fall in love with, get married, and together they can make a family.

This novel is about what happens after Lacey knocks on Jake's door, on a Friday night when he is having a party. Lacey is trying to work on her newest romance novel but is unable to concentrate due to the loud music playing in Jake's apartment. Lacey has gone to Jake's apartment to ask him to turn his music down so that she can concentrate on writing her novel.

This book is a delightful, contemporary romance that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. The characters are extremely interesting, with great backstories, and the story is fresh, exciting, and at times had me laughing out loud and at other times making me cry. This is the first novel that I've read by this pair of authors, and I liked it so much that I had a difficult time putting the book down. I can't wait to read some more of their books because this book is one of most enjoyable books that I have ever read!

What a delightful read!

Lacey is a moderately successful self-published romance author, currently dealing with writer’s block. Observant readers may notice references to another series by these authors, which I thought was really clever.

Enter her handsome neighbor Jake. Charming, disarming, easygoing Jake. They’ve lived next-door to each other for a few years, but never really interacted. Until Lacey asks him to keep the music down because she works odd hours, and they strike up a conversation. They start hanging out, and Lacey suddenly finds herself very inspired, to put it mildly. Jake is indeed very swoon-worthy, and makes me wish for a neighbor or friend like that.

Lacey has some hang-ups about love, though, stemming from her mother’s bitterness after her father’s abandonment. Jake, on the other hand, is a typical Libra and can be quite indecisive.

I like how they become friends first, despite the obvious attraction. Neither of them wants to jump into a relationship without thought, but they do enjoy each other’s company. Oh, but their chemistry... this had me fanning myself on several occasions.

Jake is pretty much what dreams are made of. It just takes Lacey a while to catch up, which is understandable, given her reservations due to her past experiences with men. I found myself relating to her in this, and also her fears of getting hurt as well as her more introverted personality. I love Jake’s description of this, by the way.

As you’d expect with a romance novel, especially one about a romance author, there is some drama and conflict threatening our lovers. Both characters react as expected, at first, but I was glad to see them both willing to learn and to fight for their love.

The supporting cast is wonderfully written. The contrast between Lacey’s embittered single mother and Jake’s boisterous, close-knit family is striking, but also shows Lacey what she could have if she’d simply let herself. And Lacey’s friends Charissa and Melody are both hilarious and supportive. They understand her personality and situation, but also encourage her to take a chance.
