We left our home in a blaze of fire…

Gunner and I clung to the hope that we were leading our group to safety. However, in the unfamiliar mountains we find something we weren't expecting--a hidden group of people…and someone I thought was dead.

Creekside Camp offers the promise of new beginnings for our injured and hungry people, and Gunner and I are thrust into a new normal. The idea of an ordinary life with him hung in front of me like the proverbial carrot.

But secrets threaten to unravel our tentative happiness and we are suddenly confronted with threats from not only the dead--but the living as well.

Will Gunner and I finally get a chance toward happiness? Or will the secrets compromise everything we've worked so hard for?

NOTE: COMPROMISED is the second book in the Ruins of Playa Azul duet. You MUST read CAPTURED prior to understand the plot and characters.

H.R. Savage

Author H.R. Savage started reading romance at an age that made her father cringe as she tried to hide the cover behind her hands. She technically finished writing her first book in Junior High, where it mysteriously disappeared in a reformatting incident. Due to the encouragement of her English teachers at her small town school in La Verne, California, she never lost her love for the art. Now a woman who swears by the power of coffee, Chinese food, and wine (not necessarily in that order), she decided it was time to create stories from the characters in her head.

When she isn’t writing, outlining, or pinning pictures of hot ‘character inspirations’ on Pinterest™, she is spending time with her three beautiful children and handsome husband.

Compromised is book 2 in Ruins of Playa Azul duet. Gunner, Thea and their people are in search of a new home after fleeing from their last one. The new group they encounter is welcoming but there is someone from Thea's past that she is shocked to see. I enjoyed this addition, but Thea was hard to like at times. I found her trying too hard to be tough and I found it annoying. Overall, while I loved Thea and Gunner together and how strong their relationship has gotten the story was a little boring at times. I was happy to see Jason find happiness and while the group is finally settled, I would have liked more story. I hope one day the author decides to revisit this group.

This is the second book in the series and cannot be read as a stand-alone it’s the continuation of Thea and Gunner's story after their home is destroyed by their enemies and we rejoin with them setting out with their people to find a safe place to resettle in the mountains.

There’s plenty of danger lots of zombie actions and Thea now finds herself having to confront an individual from her past. Her and Gunner are more solid than ever and this second instalment really ups the heat between them.

It was an enjoyable well written read that easily engaged me and the conclusion was satisfying. I would still like a bit more backstory but overall it was good and I would definitely love to read more stories set in this world and if you like post-apocalyptic fiction this is sure to be a hit.

I was so excited to be back in Savage’s zombie apocalypse world once again. This time the group is headed into the mountains of Playa Azul seeking safety and shelter. But what they find there rocks Thea’s world right off it’s axis.

In my opinion, one thing every zombie apoc story needs is a great, earth shattering romance. And Savage did the romance better than I could have hoped. I’m talking from the very start and utterly toe curling. And this lady got right up in there and picked, poked and prodded at every single emotion I had. Ones I didn’t even know I had. The book was epically written to where you felt every word and experienced every feel. Savage brought this story to brilliant life.

COMPROMISED was truly an amazing end to a series that revived my love of all things zombie; which took a major hit a year ago thanks to Covid. But Savage gave life to my favorite genre and her book gets all the stars...yet again!! A must read series for any lover of romance and the apocalypse. 5 Stars!!

I loved this book! I am completely sucked into this thrilling world that HR Savage has created. This book was packed with action and suspense and secrets and so much heat. I need to know so much more about these characters. My heart is completely invested in their stories. I will definitely be recommending this book to everyone.

Hoping she writes more

An excellent zombie romance which is hard to find. The first Playa Azul book was my first Savage book. I devoured it and the second one. I hope she continues the series.

I rarely write a review but this heroin is so annoying!
The book is just a bunch of some overeagarly random feminisim. Every clichee is just thrown into the mixer and the heroine is the epitomization of all this randomness without any real cause.
Gunner is just one dimensional. He has almost no dialogue at all. He is just there.

COMPROMISED: An Adult Post-Apocalyptic Romance (Ruins of Playa Azul Book 2) by H.R. Savage
I was given this book for an honest review by the author.
GGGGIIIIIRRRRL and Boys was I excited for this book!! I love Zombies and book 1 blew me right out of the damn water. I have been on pins and needles waiting for this book!!!
Ok look Gunnar….Can I just say I get why Thea was on him as often as possible because DAYUM he is all that and a bag of chips. He is the most deliciously alpha male in this book series. No offense Jason buuuut your small potatoes.
Thea is the bad ass chick you wanna have as your bestie if the world goes to crap. She is the tough as nails person who will hug you and smack you upside the head to get your butt in gear and move.
The book starts up right where book 1 ended. The rag tag team of misfits are trying to get to the mountains after defeating the bad peoples…ok monsters…in book 1. Bad people are way too light of a term for them. They stumble into an unprotected camp and Thea’s past is in her face before she knows it. Talk about crazy and hard. The leader of the new camp is friendly but…uhm…how do I say it…a sexist pig?? *GRUNT* Women do women’s work, and the manly man protect the little women folk. *GRUNT* So yeah if you get the drift on Thea that doesn’t go well with her…LOL LAWD do not get me started on VI!! BAHAHAHA She is a load of crazy and I love her so much.
When Gunnar and Thea are attacked by someone in the camp…yeah tense is a word you can use to describe the next few chapters. Finding out that there is a secret that has been withheld from the camp is also something they have to deal with and decide what to do.
I am going to always hope for more from this series because I love zombies!! But Jason and Vi…Come on…a little novella. I need to know how she wormed her way into his broken heart!!

plot twist

Really was not expecting the long lost relative that popped up.
thought one relationship was a kidnapping, Stockholm Syndrome. Still in disbelief it was real, waiting for the next book to hopefully get more details about that relationship.
This is a good continuation of the series. However, I did find book 1 to be more emotionally impacting. Didn’t pack the same punch with this installment.
Although the mountain lion was well written and very suspenseful, that was my punch in the gut moment here.

Snarky, badassarie and the dead

Thea is all snark and badass and Gunner is all testosterone and protective making this series a great read, the characters are well developed and the storyline is excellent, the supporting characters are awesome making these books come together nicely and making you want to find out how it ends. It’s a definite recommend

DNF @ 37%

I couldn't bring myself to finish this. Felt the heroine was just too forceful, she was always trying to be like "one of the men".
I like me a good old fashioned m/f romance but with the way the heroine carried on... It just put me off...

This was a great addition to the series.(Not sure if there were be more than two). It was full of action, emotion, and survival. I still enjoyed the dynamic between Thea and Gunner. I enjoyed the way it ended. I would definitely read more in the series/world if more were added to the series.
