Who were those bulky dudes? I always envisioned Victor as a smol, lean and angry guy while Eli was the fictional embodiment of Timothee Chalamet but then these two bulks of muscle and meat show up and I'm like ???? Hello who are you ??? Who did them this dirty I wanna cry 😭😭😭
Other than this, I loved the narrative aspect of this comic. And I love V. E. Schwab. The twist at the end was a good one, it made me so excited for future installments

this owlcrate edition is very beautiful and it really made me excited to pick this graphic novel up! but i thought this was going to be a new story with all new characters set in the world of vicious, so imagine my surprise when eli shows up! vicious was just not the book for me, mostly because of the main characters, even though i loved the concept. but if you enjoyed that story and want a little more in a graphic medium - then i think you will enjoy this a lot more than i did! but i did enjoy meeting charlotte and seeing the new eos!

Embarrassed to say this was the first book I read in this series and I'm pretty sure it's the wrong one to start with but it was still very good and made sense in spite of the fact that I'd missed way too much of the backstory.

Este es el primer tomo de unos cómics que se sitúan, también, en el universo de Villains de V. E. Schwab. En este nos encontramos con la historia de origen de Charlotte, una chica que muere en un accidente automovilístico, pero que, milagrosamente, vuelve a la vida unos minutos después. Sin embargo, no vuelve como una humana normal, sino como una ExtraOrdinaria. Lo malo es que los poderes con los que se despertó Charlotte le permiten ver, en los reflejos, las muertes de las personas… incluyendo la suya propia.
Charlotte, que al principio cree que tiene algún daño cerebral por el accidente, entiende poco a poco que su habilidad es muy real y entonces decide que no va a esperar sentada a que su muerte simplemente suceda, así que va en busca de la persona que la causará. Todo esto mientras una organización, llamada One, la busca para exterminarla. En medio de su aventura, va a conocer a unos cuantos EOs más que le explican quién está realmente detrás de One, de sus intenciones y sus planes.
Creo que esta es una historia bastante simpática y entretenida sobre el mundo de Villains. Ahora, lo que no entiendo es por qué la clasifican como un 1.5 en el orden de la serie si, en mi opinión, no aporta nada imprescindible para entender los libros principales. Es más como una historia curiosa y divertida de conocer, pero nada vital.

First of all: that cover is not representative of the tone or content of the story. Neither is the back cover, where a girl listens to headphones in a graveyard while generic-but-ominous hooded figures loom -- none of those elements are in this story except for the girl in headphones.
Second: If you've already read Vicious, know that at least a third of this content will be retelling parts of the background about Victor and Eli becoming EOs and Eli's homicidal quest. Once you subtract the regurgitated parts, this was actually pretty short. I didn't feel like I got to know the knew characters well.
Third, art: This is traditional-superhero-comic in style. Men are Mister Universe Contenders, women are size negative 1 stick insects. At least they don't have boob windows. Other than that, the art is fine. I was neutral.

I was excited when I heard about this as I love Schwab and her Villains series. This was a bit shorter than expected but the illustrations and text are perfect! The synopsis explains the story perfectly so there is no point that I do it again by myself.
This did not blow my mind because I expected a totally new story in that same world but it starts with Victor and Eli's story which we know from the main series and then follows Charlotte and her trial to take control of her life -or death- and meeting a few EO on the way.
That being said, it was cool to see characters we already know come to life with the illustrations. As always, I will read whatever Schwab comes out with next!

January 5, 2023Уже в дикій природі! Перший мій переклад, замовлений і зроблений уже за воєнного часу (спасибі видавництву Віват, як навіть у цілком апокаліптичному квітні року божого 22-го продовжувало думати про підліткові супергеройські комікси).
"Надзвичайна" - це вбоквел від іншої серії Вікторії Шваб, але напевно читається й окремо також. Зав'язка "Надзвичайної" така: помирають усі, але дехто потім ще й повертається - уже з супергеройським навиком, який допоміг вижити (чи зумовлений останніми передсмертними думками). От, скажімо, одна похмура підлітка, що - як то водиться в похмурих підлітків - забагато думала про смерть, після автокатастрофи починає бачити, як помруть усі навколо. Зокрема бачить, хто її вб'є. Починає з підліткового фаталізму й розпачу, але дуже швидко переходить до етапу "шо тут можна порішать і чим можна допомогти". Це страшенно життєствердний месідж, який варто практикувати на щодень, коли не вивозиш - ситуація може й не альо, але подумаймо, чим можна зарадити.
І графіка в коміксі дуже гарна.

I should probably start this review by mentioning that I'm not a huge graphic novel fan. They always leave me wanting more for some reason. However, V.E. Schwab is one of my favorite authors and I read anything she writes.
Vicious is my favorite Schwab book so I was excited to be back in this world. It was cool to see the characters I love brought to life in this graphic novel. I'm not sure how invested I am in the new characters yet, but the ending has me intrigued enough to pick up the next volume.

Я дурна, бо взяла мальопис, не розуміючи, що це доповнення до серії "Лиходії". Цікаво, це так "Віват" натякає, що він планує видати "Vicious"?
Підлітка Шарлотта помирає в автокатастрофі. І оживає. Але дещо змінилося: вона бачить відображення смерті кожної людини, з якою зустрічається. Зокрема, й власну.
Та Шарлотта вже одного разу померла, і не збирається робити це знову. Тож вона вирішує вбити свого вбивцю, доки він не знайшов її першою. А вбивця її теж з надзвичайників: він вважає своєю божественною місією вколошкати всіх, хто схожий на нього.
Мальопис можна читати без основних книжок: нам пояснюється світ і його проблематика, тут є завершена історія з відкритим фіналом і окреслені характери персонажів. Однак без передісторії він може видатися дещо неповним. Та це зробило свою справу — я тепер сильніше хочу прочитати "Vicious".
Арт на обкладинці просто фантастичний! Сам малюнок у коміксі — нічого особливого, але достатньо приємний і динамічний.
"Віват" добре попрацював з версткою. Зазвичай це питання не підіймається в оглядах, бо правильна верстка коміксів — це невід'ємна частина адаптації, але після випадку з "Астролябією" видається, що про це варто згадати.
В кінці коміксу також є невеличке оповідання про ще одного надзвичайника.
Що тут скажеш? Заінтригували, давайте весь всесвіт.

I went into this knowing it probably wasn't for me as although I really enjoyed Vicious, I dnfed the 2nd book as I found it a little boring and the characters werent doing it for me. I didn't know much about this comic when I bought it (which was after I read Vicious and thought I would enjoy the 2nd book) but hoped for a fun new story about EOs. Disappointed that it still revolves around Eli and Victor as it would have been nice to see something fresh.
This book didnt have that much actual content for me either and I felt if you hadn't read Vicious then you would be a bit confused. I wasn't a huge fan of the artwork either, I can appreciate it but it just wasnt the style I like.
Overall it felt like old news rehashed into something lesser than the original.

This was pretty cool, I liked Charlotte and the new EOs. What I didn't like is that a lot of space was taken up by the story we know already and very little new info was provided, but I guess that's good in another way (for people who picked this up without reading the book).

El libro es brutal. Las ilustraciones y lo que intentan transmitir se siente muy real.
Sí sentí que se quedó algo corto en varios aspectos y aunque fue genial ver una escena de Víctor y Eli, se repitió dos veces y repitió cosas del primer libro… cuando lo que uno esperaba era justo la historia de la muchacha.
Si V E Schwab sigue haciendo estas novelas gráficas e historias cortas, la sacaría del estadio. Ese mundo es increíble y conocer más de EO y sus poderes, uff.
El final es un cliffhanger que lo dejan a uno pidiendo más. Por lo qué hay que esperar no sé cuántos años para el tercero 😭
