Maddie is no stranger to death, or killing. Her father and her mother are dead, and the world owes her a big chunk of payback. But does she want to go down that road? Her whole life is in front of her.
Shouldn't she start living it, for real?
It’s just that she’s already killed two people, and there are a few more who are just as deserving…
Maddie begins and ends where New Blood leaves off. For those of you who loved New Blood, Maddie is a must read.
Praise for “A surprising follow up to New Blood told from a point of view that will keep you up at night long after you reach the last page.”

Praise for New “Shane Lusher's Dana Hartman, the protagonist of "New Blood", is a complex, multilayered, realistic character…I intended to read the book for an hour a I knocked it off in two sittings. I think you will too. Suspenseful, well-paced, with a memorable cast of characters. You'll look forward to the next chapter of Dana Hartman's life as much as I am.”
Shane was born and raised in Tazewell County, Illinois, two and a half hours south of Chicago.
Though he has been writing for most of his life, he has been, in short order: a drywall finisher, a movie theater concessions worker, a lawn mower, a cafeteria worker, a bartender, a copy boy, accountant, translator, teacher of English as a foreign language, and, finally, an IT consultant.
He is a graduate of the creative writing program at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, and currently lives in Vienna, Austria with his wife and three children.
I read Shane Lusher's 'New Blood' before I read 'Maddie' and found that it complimented the whole plot like a set of book ends.
Born into an amoral world, Maddie is a fascinating character as we follow her inner journey and see the world from her point of view.
Maddie is brought to a series of moments where she experiences the beginnings of self awareness and where she may, if she chooses, turn her whole life around.
