THE REVIEW FOR THE BOOK THORNED BY K.H.KATE

GENRE:DARK CONTEMPORARY MAFIA ROMANCE.
AUTHOR:K.H.KATE
TYPE: BOOK #1 OF THE MARTINEZ MAFIA DYNASTY.
POV:DUAL POV...FIRST PERSON.
MY RATING: 5 STARS.

Raine has been handed the responsibility of her little brother by her father when she was 10 years old. After doing everything right, he still manages to get involved with mysterious dark dangerous men like Ace. When she goes in search for her brother Nick after being missing for some days, she finds that he has been killing people in the name of some mafia famiglia.
Now drugged and kidnapped by Ace, she has been blamed for keeping her brother's whereabouts a secret and is forced to spill them out...
Will the suspense surrounding NIck ceases? or Will the distrust between Ace and Raine will get someone killed?

This was a really dark gritty and twisted romance with a lot of suspence to keep you at the edge of your seat. Once you start this book...it will be absolutely impossible to put this down.
The world building was so great...Mafia themes were amazing...
I was so involed in the book that I couldn't wait for what was coming next....and be aware..the cliffhanger is explosive!!!!
I need the next book so much, Like give it to me right now!!!

An intense and twisted start to a very promising Mafia series!!!!!!

" Everything is just a cruel dream fabricated by a broken mind"

Book 1 in the Martinez Mafia Dynasty series takes you on a dark , dangerous and thrilling journey of lies, deciet and betrayal but NOTHING is ever what it seems!!!! A twisted tale that will keep you guessing with every turn of a page and not really knowing whats happening till the very end!!!

Be warned this book ends with an explosive cliffhanger!!!

I great start to a series that has so much potential to be brilliant, the storyline is strong and has a fantastic set of characters that I'm sure will develop more depth as the series continues.

Its been an honour to watch how much this author has grown in her writing from the very beginning and I cannot wait to see what the future brings xx

Its took me a while to write this because nothing I say can make up for how phenomenal this book is.

You just HAVE to read it.

Book 1 of the mafia dynasty starts off with a giant bang, it has everything that screams mafia, it bleeds intensity like you wouldnt believe.

I live for books like this, I was on the edge of my seat throughout, i couldn't put it down and didn't want it to end, i must warn you though it ends of a massive cliffhanger.

I cant wait to see where this amazing author takes this story. IM ALL IN!!!

I’m finding it hard to articulate my response for this review. But I’ll give it a go anyway.
.
This book, twisted, dark and a whole lot of intensity! This was a good read. I was captivated and intrigued from the first page.
.
Not going to lie I didn’t connect with Rayne. It was probably just me but I found it hard to distinguish between her true emotions and thoughts at times. Ace for me was lacking in the sense that I didn’t feel the danger his world and his reputation precedes but in saying that there were moments were I did feel that which saved it for me.
.
The plot was great, it gave you all the feels of a dark mafia. It’s starts off heavily with suspense and intrigue and the mystery grows through the whole book. I haven’t read a dark mafia quiet like this which drew me in for more. The world of this book is heavy in mafia dealings, family ties, deals and motives. I’m still trying to grasp what it is that’s actually happened in this book. It’s a ride I didn’t want to finish once I reached the end and that cliffhanger, oh my gosh. What a way to end it.
.
I’m looking forward to what comes next. I’m hoping I’ll connect with the characters more in the next book than I did this one.

This is the first book in the Martinez Mafia Dynasty Series and Wow what a ride.

I was so enthralled with this book that I was always trying to figure out what was going to happen next then boom something totally unexpected happened. I usually can figure out where a book is leading into the first several chapters but this one had me pleasantly scratching my head until the very end and of course this books ends with a cliffhanger which left me only wanting more, like now!!!

As for the characters, they were all so very intriguing. Raine’s character is so broken and her relationship with her brother is another story in itself.

Nick, her brother, who works for La Eme Cartel and now has stolen from them. Typical storyline? nope, he as an agenda all his own. His actions leads to his sister Raine being kidnapped. Raine is then taken to Ace who happens to be the head of the La Eme Cartel. While Ace tries to use her against her brother in a game of cat and mouse, it may be Ace who ends up caught in his own trap.

Raine and Ace have major trust issues, but it’s interesting to see how their chemistry grows and how they fight it which leaves you wondering who will fall first.

I personally can’t wait for the next book in this dark mafia series. Way to go K.H. Kate, thank you for something surprising!

I have read this book as an ARC and this is my honest review!

Book 1-2.5 Stars.
Book 2-3 Stars.

Narrated in Dual POV and Book 1 ends on a Cliffhanger.

KH Kate is a new author to me but I see great potential in her as a writer.

Ace Martinez is a Mafia Boss and when Nick, Raine's brother, stole and ran from him she will be the one whose going to suffer for his brother's wrong-doings.

Now the books could've been more better if a little more work would've done on them. The lack of clarity and confusion in the plot was the main -ve point for me.
When I finished book 1 I still wasn't able to understand what had actually happened. But still I read book 2 because I really wanted to know the full story.

About the characters, I didn't find Ace as dangerous and fearful as his reputation says and Raine, I am still not quite sure how I feel about her or them as a couple.

Raines father told her to look after her brother Nick before he left their lives for good but how is she suppose to look after him when all he does is disappear and get in trouble with the wrong type of people, men like Ace. After going in search of her Brother Raine is drugged and taken to Ace, the boss of the Martinez family. Where she learns Nick has been working as a killer, and Ace seems to think she holds the key to who he betrayed them for, could this be another of her brothers cruel games of loyalty?. As Ace wants to break Raine he enjoys the torment he brings her but he also sees the look in her eyes one he knows very well. Has Raine been tossed from a game of loyalty with her brother to a game of danger and deceit with the devil. But is this game bigger than both of them could ever dream of it being? This book ends on a dramatic suspense filled cliff hanger! A well written twisting story of trust, betrayal and lies. With desire burning scenes that warp the mind this is a gripping read not to be missed!

So I love me a good mafia book but this one fell short in my opinion. I felt that the mafia vibe just wasn't there like in most books I've read. Axe didn't seem to be nearly as dangerous as what he was made out to be although he was a character that I liked. However, I never grew too fond of Raine. The plot was interesting but I found it to also be confusing at times. I would go back and reread a bit just to clue myself in. There were plenty of times I would be very invested in the story but then it would begin to drag at other times. It was entertaining and definitely not all bad but it does end on a cliffhanger and I wouldn't really be interested in reading book two in the future.

This is a mafia series by K. H Kate and let me tell you, this book blew my mind in so many ways. First off this book gets in your head. Well for me it did. So as I started reading, I was drawn in with the two main characters of this book. Raine and Ace. Well these two are...well the verdict is still out on this. Of course I was #TeamRaine and like you got this girl, your strong, you will not give in. Then Ace comes and does something and I am like #TeamAce. It was all the mind games they play. There are so many twist in this story that I was sucked down a rabbit hole of theories. Then I got to the end and was like what!! MIND BLOWN!! I need the next book in this series like yesterday.

This story had me slightly confused at the start because there were so many characters but I stayed with it and a gritty story was revealed. Plenty of twists and turns and intrigue. Secrets galore in this ruthless tale of the cartels. Plenty of strong characters. I still have to get to the bottom of Ace and his family and their dynamic. Raine and her brother are equally mysterious. How is this story going to continue? Who is going to come out the victor and are there more secrets to be revealed? Can’t wait for the next book when hopefully they will be answered.

I really loved the story line of how this book was going, but I felt lost during a lot of. KH Kate has amazing story lines, there is just a lot of psychological in it so its hard to keep up sometimes. What I liked is this wasn't a typical mafia book of just kill everyone and show all power. I felt like you saw a different side of Ace, a softer side that isn't a complete confident cocky male, which was actually kind of refreshing. Raine is his prisoner, and plays damsel in distress for a bit but not completely. She is actually a lot stronger than I thought she was going to be. Overall I did like this book, it was just a bit difficult to follow everything that was happening.

Ace, better known as Diablo, is the head of the Martinez Mafia Dynasty and Raine, is the sister of Nick, the man who betrayed Ace.
After Nick didn't come home for a few days Raine goes looking for him. She doesn't realize she just walked in to the lion's den. She ends up in the hands of Ace, the one who's looking for Nick and wants him dead. Ace and Raine play this little game that they both think they will win. They have things coming at them from all sides yet they still battle with each other.

Ok, not gonna lie...I was absolutely lost through most of this book. I was seriously trying to figure out who the key players were and what was going on but every time I thought I had a grasp on the situation another ball would drop and I had to start all over again. I wanted to pick Reign up and both hug and shake her. I’m still not sure how I feel about Ace. He’s currently in the love to hate category. I have so many questions and I need answers!! I’m just gonna sit over here and pout until the next book drops.

What a fantastic gripping book keeping you excited to know what's coming at every turn..... With a monumental cliffhanger to end, I can't wait for the next installment.

This has so many dark twists just as you think you know what's going to happen the unexpected happens. With characters that are so intriguing, delving deep into their lifes gives so much scope. With Raine's underlying trust issues, combined also with Ace's can either overcome them or will they spiral out of control?

If you are a mafia lover then this is a must.

This is the 1st book in the author's Martinez Mafia Dynasty. It is a darker themed mafia romance and if you love your men on the naughty alpha side and your leading ladies with a side of sass and plenty of steam, romance, mystery, and twists and turns to keep you enthralled until the very last page? Then I recommend reading this darkly decadent read!

From first to the end, I can not put this book down. This story is surround with lies, betrayals, deceit and Raine has to quickly figure out who she can trust to get to the mystery that's her brother. Ace was every bit of a mafia leader can be. He had every facts yet when it came to Raine, he was hopeless to maintain his cold mask. I loved this one and that cliffhanger really took me out. Don't kill my Ace!

This book has some really wonderful twists and turns. It also has some really sexy, hot and passionate chemistry that makes you wonder if you even be reading it out of n the open.

This is the first book in a new dark Mafia romance series and as such it does end with a cliffhanger. There are lots of twists and turns along with the action, mystery, suspense and intrigue all of which makes this book a great way to spend a couple of hours reading. I am looking forward to book 2 so that some of the questions from book 1 are answered.

I cannot honestly tell you what the story is. The plot is all over the place. It is so full of typos and grammatically incorrect sentencing that it is almost unreadable. I have not ever left such a poor review, but this is by far one of the worst books I have tried to read.

Trying to put into words this book, I’m not sure about raine if I like her or not? Yes and no . Ace I like he is dangerous and says it how it is. Nick is an a$$hole. It is an intense read. I was not expecting that at the end ! Omg ! What a reveal and how it ended on a major cliffhanger ! Like what !?? Now I will have to wait for book 2 .

★ Ace’s kingdom ★

—>>> Raine Taylor goes looking for her brother Nick who has been working for the familia and ends up used as a pawn for La Eme’s mafia boss, Ace Martinez. And she is willing to do what it takes to find him. For me, I had trouble immersing myself into this first installment’s storyline and characters, even at the halfway point.

This book was to say... too intesnse that it's either a hit or miss. Ace is a mob boss and trying to keep his family together by doing what's needs to be done. Raine was never meant to be cross path with him but when she does it's literally chaos. And Raine, girl, she has been so battered by trust issues that she's can't see what's right and wrong anymore. Their chemistry was off the charts! And after that cliffhanger, I can't wait to see the next book.

This was a dark story that was filled with many emotions. Raine and Ace were strong characters, nothing about their journey was an easy one, they many ups and downs, their journey was a rollercoaster but they were drawn to each other. The connection between them was strong, their chemistry was sexy, they were great together.
I enjoyed this story.

This story is full sexy and bada$$ men, thrills and chills and not to mention intriguing and fast-paced. Good Story!

This was a good start to what has the potential to be a really intriguing, suspenseful and thrilling dark mafia romance.

Thorned is intriguing but I had a hard time connecting with the characters. At times the story confused me and I had no idea what was happening.

The story ends on a cliffhanger and I hope the next book hooks me more than the first.
