Friends-to-lovers romances are some of my favorites, and this one had me truly rooting for the hero and heroine. Macey and Logan are best friends and have been for years. When the time came, they became friends with benefits. While he works on the ranch a short ride from the saloon she works at, she tends bar for a father who can't seem to get it together. She's watched the pain that has been caused between her parents over the legend that surrounds the bar, and she doesn't want anything to do with it. But she feels trapped, and Logan is her only outlet.
Logan's heart belongs to Macey, and pretty much every other part of him too. He'd give anything for her to see what they can be together, but he knows what she's been through. He's watched it all happen as has the rest of the town. Still, he's there when her friend wants to take a trip to Vegas to get married, and he helps her deal with the problems this causes. However, what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas.
I love this story, and I love the way this author tells it. There are so many deeper nuances to her characters, and she has a way of helping us dig to those depths with her. The little paranormal aspect she wove into the tale is fantastic, and I look forward to seeing how it is resolved.
