I’ve read Victorine’s other books on craft, so I knew this book would be filled with nuggets. She didn’t disappoint. As a relatively new author, I found so many tips I can put in into practice today.
This is a phenomenal book written by an author! It talks about everything a new Indie Author should think about when writing and marketing their book! I found it most helpful to know my genre, write better book blurbs when books aren't selling, rankings on the Amazon book page and Amazon ads. Highly recommend this book full of helpful tips.
Like many Indie Authors, I am constantly on the look out for craft books to actually improve my writing acumen, and marketing books to improve how I get my books to the market. When I saw this title, written by an award-winning Indie Author, I decided to give it a try.
Although most of what I read was a refresher for me, it was still good information. An Indie Author who is new to this process would find the guidance offered here to be very beneficial. The author explains things plainly, with examples along the way. Each chapter has a nice summary of the most impactful points.
I don't agree with the author's suggestion that Indie Authors should ignore print sales, and all but abandon in-person events like readings and signings at bookshops and festivals... but if you go in reading the book with the understanding that she is not negating those activities entirely, they just don't work for her... the rest of the pages are easier to get through. (Personally, I love in-person sales opportunities... but that's me.) I most appreciated the insights into advertising on Amazon. This book is unapologetically in favor of selling E-Books over nearly every other medium or platform, and the tips she offers were helpful for me, as this is an area in which I have been lacking in my own marketing efforts. Her suggestions for launch timelines and advertising strategies were interesting, and I thought, worth testing.
This was not the “magic key” Indie Authors are hoping for, but certainly, it is a worthwhile read.
Ms. Lieske packs a ton of information into her book.
It is well laid out, organized, concise, and each section comes with a summary of the main points for easy reference. Links are included to relevant information. Her voice is a delight and feels like you're listening to a friend and mentor who genuinely wants to help you get your books into your reader's hands.
If you're an independent author, this is a must read when it comes to marketing your books.
Although a bit chatty, Her Marketing advice is solid and realistic. In a time of intense competition among self spinning authors, The author pulls no punches about the detail and effort for those writing to market-- a good lesson for players in the game. The process and planning ongoing campaigns is clear, concise, honest and helpful. The FAQ covered a lot of ground.
If you're a new author or one who's been struggling with marketing, this book has some great information.
The author's style is very no-nonsense and she's clear that the information she's providing is what she's either proven to work or seen work for other authors.
As with all things, be guided by the information here and experiment to figure out what works for you or what you're willing to do

Victorine has written a compassionate, yet no-nonsense, guide for struggling indie authors. My debut novel did not sell well 8 years ago, so I plan to employ her strategies with the release of my prequel in spring 2023. Hoping for better results this time!
I wasn't sure if I was going to like this book and wondered if it was just another author trying to make quick money. I was highly surprised that some of the suggestions have so far worked. One thing that I did notice is that this book is based solely around ebooks alone. I'll definitely be trying out some more of the suggestions in due course. Thanks.
I enjoyed this book by Victorine E. Lieske. She had a lot of practical advise. There were many chapters, and I learned something from every one of them. She had a direct way of talking, which I appreciated. In others words, she didn't beat around the bush about marketing techniques that didn't work.
Victorine gives good advice based on her own extensive and successful experience. She has been there and is truthful about what actually works and more importantly what doesn't.
This is a must read for anyone looking to market and advertise their books. Vicrorine Lieske has provided so many ways a writer can market their books to become successful.
great book for marketing and thinking about the book as a whole. Great tips and advice. Every author is going to have their own path for sure, but this one is good to read.
I tried what the author wrote about before and after I read the book. Little of it worked. Ads never recouped costs. Social media posts get likes and no sales. The things in this book may have worked for the author. Formulas don’t work for me. My books are not written to market and they sell. They have specific themes that resonate across what are called genre. I reject compartmentalizing books. It creates clicks and silos that drive people apart. Instead of bringing us together as a society. To prioritize commerce over art is one of the factors leading to the decay we experience today where no one can speak with anyone because people are shouting down each other. This book perpetuate this sort of social sicknesses and none of the suggestions resulted in increased sales.
