I need to a write a review for this because I’m on a roll with reviewing but I think my 5 star rating says it all.
This was a stunning sequel to”Mikhail”. It was heart pounding and gut wrenching! Nash has a way with words and knows how to build a world.
I think the thing I loved most about this book was the growth of Mikhail’s character, the way he loves Maeve is so stunningly raw and deep without losing himself. He is still the dangerous, merciless Mikhail we know from book one but there is more to him than that and Maeve learns how to love him despite all he was and is.
Which brings me to the next thing I loved about this book: the relationship growth. I think the pace of their romance was perfect. Despite being mates you still have that “will they won’t they” up to the end.
Honestly for fantasy lovers I can’t recommend this enough.
Where can I get a physical copy? I bought Mikhail (supposedly a duology) but it did not contain this one, as I thought it would. Please help a girl out!
This is the second book following Mikhail and Maeve’s story. An old threat that has come back to ruin Mikhail and his reign and jeopardise the blooming progress to Mikhail and Maeve’s relationship. This book is intense and will shock you with the revelation that involves the old threat to the kingdom and its people. You will see another side of our couple that will make your heart turn mush and cry your eyes out. A definite must read after finishing the first book.
Okay so this book was just as amazing as the last book. Reading the thoughts of Mikhail and Maeve showed how much development they went through, individually and as a couple. It was lovely hearing about the progression in their relationship, considering it was a bit of a mess in the last book.
The writing was also super immersive, when Mikhail got ambushed by the 2 Nephilims and Maeve found him almost dead, the journey she went on to make sure he survived was amazing. Reading how the cold weather was impacting both of their health’s made me feel like I was in her shoes, freezing to death.
And also, I was definitely not expecting Jacob to be Zaid, that genuinely was not something I was expecting, even though in the first book when Jacob was introduced there was a comment: “oh so this is where he came from”.
There were some things I was pretty confused on/disliked. For one, Maeve gave up her immortality, Mikhail didn’t. So I’m not sure how that’s supposed to work out unless she’s mortal but ageless.
Another thing, I don’t understand the whole thing with Gabriel. How is it that a “cult” was able to capture a Fallen Angel and force him into breeding with wolfs/humans? It didn’t make sense to me at all, especially when he broke those chains off.
I also really hated how towards the end, Maeve got a cat against Mikhail’s wishes and didn’t even think about what his opinion on them was. I know it wasn’t serious, but had my significant other pulled that, especially after telling them explicitly I don’t want a cat, I’d be infuriated.
Last but not least, no matter what anyone says, I refuse to believe that Merle was truly in love with the Priest. I felt sick to my stomach each time their names were brought up. Thinking about how the Priest raised all 7 of the brothers, only to pursue a sexual relationship with Merle extremely grossed me out. On top of that, Merle had a mate? So not sure how that even worked out.
Overall I definitely enjoyed this book, not as much as the first one but still thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the touch of when Maeve lost her immortality that she was able to see Jace and Sin in the Afterlife, allowing Mikhail to lessen the burden of taking his Beta’s life.

Following the events of book one, Predator is able to perfectly satisfy your hunger. Gut wrenching and heartbreaking, Lantey continues to outdo themselves. The personal growth and maturity in both Maeve and Mikhail is beautifully written, as well as the relationship growth between them. A definite must read duology!
This book is a serious must read for anyone who likes paranormal adult fantasy. It is one of the best books I've read and has such an interesting plot and characters.
Such a great book that keeps you on the edge of your seat and wanting more. Nash is a lovely writer and knows how to appeal to readers. I highly recommend this book.
