A Woman With a Plan
For most people, being held at gunpoint by inept bank robbers disguised as Yoda and SpongeBob SquarePants would make for a bad day. For local librarian Turner Hastings, it's an opportunity. Using the distraction to pull a little heist of her own, she dives into a new life... on the run.

A Cop on a Mission
FBI Special Agent John MacKinnon always gets his man... or woman. After watching Turner Hastings dump the contents of a safety deposit box into her purse on a surveillance tape, he knows this case won’t be run of the mill. What he doesn't expect is how the cellphone contact between him and his bounty is about to blur the line between professional ambition and personal desire. When bullets from a hired hitman start flying in Turner's direction, giving weight to her claims of injustice, John is willing to cross any line to save her life...even if it means losing his own.

Things Are Getting HOT.

Hot, written by Elizabeth Hoyt under her pseudonym Julia Harper, was a delightful romantic comedy with a little bit of suspense added in. This was sweet, action-packed, hilarious, and hot, all at the same time.

Turner Hastings is a librarian and part-time drive-through teller in Winosha. While she was working the drive-through teller station, two men with shortguns in their hands, rushed into the bank and ordered everyone to get on the floor. After getting the money, they ran away. Turner took advantage of the situation while everyone was so very busy, to make her own little heist.

John MacKinnon, an FBI Special Agent, was called in to investigate small town bank robbery. While checking out the surveillance tape, he caught Turner stealing something from the safe deposit box of Calvin, the bank president.

Turner strode briskly to the desk and put the other safe deposit key back into the center drawer. She closed the drawer. Then she tilted her face and for the first time looked right into the surveillance camera. Right into his eyes. Her mouth curved into a little lopsided smile, like that of a self-satisfied cat.

And John realized three things. One, Turner, the little witch, had robbed the bank. Two, this case wasn’t going to be nearly as simple as Torelli thought. And three, he had a raging hard-on.

John started to call Turner’s cell phone. The more they talked, the more they became drawn toward each other. When he found out that Turner was in danger from the hitman, he had to make a decision between doing his job and saving the woman whom he had deep feelings for.

The romance was good. Despite the fact that it took more than halfway through the book before John and Turner finally met each other in person, I never once felt bored watching them developed their relationship through phone calls. I could feel the attraction sparked between them all the time during their phone conversations. And the moment they first met face to face was nearly took my breath away. John was so sweet and sexy! The sex scenes were great and HOT! I couldn’t help but love his dirty talk!

There were sweet and sexy moments when John and Turner were together. And there were also nail-biting moments when they had to run out of bullets. SpongeBob and Yoda, the inept bank robbers, were very funny. They cracked me up every time they showed up in the story. And I loved Squeaky, a lovely Great Dane who stole my heart already.

Overall, this was a funny and light-hearted read. This book had a little bit of everything. I really did enjoy reading this one. It’s worth a try!

I love Elizabeth Hoyt's Georgian romances; they are edgy, racy, well researched (I think) and detailed. This is not an Elizabeth Hoyt Georgian romance obviously, but it's hard to believe it is written by the same individual.

The h has been harboring the need for revenge of her beloved uncle who was framed by his long-term family friend. A bank robbery gives the h the chance to steal some documents she hopes will exonerate her uncle. She's on the run after that. Well, after this and then taking the bad guy's adorable Great Dane.

The FBI is called in and here's where it goes pear-shaped. The FBI guy gets a yen for the heroine, and he and the heroine engage in some sexy banter as he tries to get her to turn herself in. He is the worst FBI man ever. His totally wimpy/beta tendencies as well as finding out that he allowed his teenage daughter to kick him out of his life dropped my interest even more.

A beta FBI hero and bad father to boot plus a less than sympathetic heroine added to the most irritating bumbling bank robbers ever (they give Beavis and Butthead a run for their money on the audio) left me cold.

The town librarian, Turner Hastings, also work part-time at the bank. On a saturday, while she's working, Yoda and SpongeBob SquarePants show up and do a hold-up. They're not so good at it, to tell you the truth ;p It's the perfect opportunity for our heroine to search the vault. As you can probably guess, since we're in a romance novel, it's not the story of a woman who goes crazy and rob a bank. Turner is not after money. She wants the evidence to exonerated her uncle, even if it's too late for him to benefit from it. But what if the proof is harder to find ? Chasing after her is FBI Special Agent John MacKinnon, a sexy fourty-year-old, who have to team up with a guy who gets on his nerves. For John, it's lust at first sight through the surveillance camera and love at first sight even before he meet his fugitive. An unexplicable attraction that doesn't make any sense that will lead to phone conversations filled with flirt and foreplays, and why not a little dirty talk ;p One thing's for sure, you won't ask yourself why it's called Hot !

I borrowed this book from the library a few years ago and I remember being pleasantly surprised by how fun it was. Afterwards, I would learn that Julia Harper is an other name for the author Elizabeth Hoyt, who's known for her historical romances. I think this book would make a pretty great movie. It's fast-paced, sexy and on the comedic side. It's a little bit absurd (so you can expect some implausibilities) but I thought it was done in a charming and witty way. Personally, I think the two idiots POV was unnecessary, but they weren't there that often anyway. I'm not always happy with insta-lust/love but in this story, it was also part of the appeal; this strong fascination that no one can explain.

If funny and sensual is what you're searching for, try this book :)

I was intrigued by this book when I saw it at the bookstore, not enough to buy it, but enough to swap for it. I'm not sure of all my reasons, but I didn't LOVE this book...I'm not sure if I even liked it. I understood the motivation of the lead character, Turner. She's wants to prove her dead uncle's innocence after he was accused of embezzlement and fired from his VP bank job. So she's waited four years for a chance to check the bank president's safety deposit box? She's done nothing else? Told no one else? I guess I felt she wasn't a very strong character. She seemed to spend most of her time falling apart til the very end. I wanted more from her and for her.
The male character, John "Mac", I LOVED! I wanted more for him than Turner. He was sexy and sensual and loving and manly and...oooohhhh.
If you like Crusie, you'll probably like this book. Maybe I was just in a bad mood?

Sometimes, fluff from the $1 bin is just what I need. Formulaic cops-and-robbers romance complete with a slobbery but lovable dog. She's a bank robber, he's an FBI agent. Pursue, catch, fornicate. Repeat.

I was really into this book for about 4 hours and then... More and more sexual graphic talk that I just was embarrassed reading this book. The plot was interesting and the motivation behind Turner's theft was noble. I thought I liked Turner but then she would talk to John and John was so stupid. He liked her sexually right away and talked to her that way on the phone everyday. It was ridiculous! What kind of FBI agent are you! I've read sex scenes before so the ones in here shouldn't surprise me so much but to me they just were too much especially listening to it. I didn't expect this book to have this so that was my bad...

Julia Harper is the name Elizabeth Hoyt uses for her contemporary romances. I love Hoyts's historicals. She's an automatic buy.

Her contemporary voice is completely different. There's quite a bit of humor. The premise of this story was cute--a gal on the run from the law and the FBI agent and her getting to know each other and becoming attracted to each other while they talked on their cell phones while he's chasing her.

Finally, there's some shooting and and the couple meet face to face. Things heat up after that. The pace quickens, too. The last 75 pages were fast-paced.

John is really the primary protagonist, rather than Turner, the heroine. We understand much more of John's mind and what makes him tick. Turner we're never too sure of, other than her main goal (prove her uncle's innocence) and her determination.

So was surprisingly fun! Written under Julia Harper AKA Elizabeth Hoyt, this is a contemporary. I've enjoyed her historicals and was curious how her contemporaries would stand up.

Turner is a librarian, part time back teller out to get the bank's owner. So, when the bank gets robbed, she used the opportunity to steal the contents of the bank owner's (Calvin) safe deposit box. She's waited 4 years. Enter Special Agent John MacKinnon whose job is to hunt her down.

This was funny, and a bit unconventional. The back robbers- Fish and Nald were idiots; their back and forth made me laugh. Add in a hitman, a partner that doesn't like you, and an unexpected interest in the suspect = super fun!

I enjoyed the relationship between John and Turner. It was quite an interesting turn of events to have most of the relationship developed through phone calls. Unfortunately, the side story about Nald and Fish totally fell flat with me. I resented the time spent on that story which I felt had little connection with the central part of the story. I think the book would have been better if the pages spent on that was spent on developing the characters in the main story.

It was an okay story, but I probably wouldn't read it again.

Novel received courtesy of Goodreads.com giveaway

Julia Harper has written a hilarious yet serious, heart-poundingly sexy and scary novel I've read in a long time! I knew I was in for a good read when Harper Turner stole the contents of her boss's safe deposit box while the bank was being robbed by SpongeBob and Yoda. The FBI agent John MacKinnon that is sent to solve the bank robbery falls for her while they talk on the phone over the course of a few days. Add a huge Great Dane named Squeaky and you have yourself a fun story!

I would read anything written by this author!

"In Turner Hastings' opinion, the bank robbery didn't go truly bad until Yoda shot out the skylight. Which was not to say that the robbery hadn't had its problems up until that point."

Any author who begins her book with the above paragraph has got my vote. A snappy, fun read that begins with a bang! Loved the hilarious writing style more than the plot but it is definitely a book that gets your attention.

I will be looking for more works by this author.

OK, I tried....I really tried to read the complete story, but early on, this was a COULD NOT COMPLETE!! Even though I recognized the fun, interesting characters Elizabeth Hoyt created and the funny moments were good, but I could not take the fact that that heroine and hero took so long to actually meet in person. I love Elizabeth Hoyt's story telling skills, but even though I love her as an author, I could not finish this book. On a positive note, the narrator, Erin Bennett was really good!

This book actually started off kind of good. Interesting premise for sure. It just kept going downhill until I just had to DNF at 62%. Usually if I make it this far I’ll just tough it out, but I can’t.

I kind of like the FMC, but there is nothing likable about the MMC. And I absolutely do not believe their romance. It’s frustrating because I could believe it. If it was better written it would be great. But it jumps into him being inappropriate during phone calls too quickly for her to be okay with it. He comes across as a creep. And he continues to come across as a creep until where we are now. With him having handcuffed himself to her bed while she was in the shower. Nah brah. On top of that he’s kind of a crap FBI agent and a shit dad. He’s really not appealing in anyway.

The book is older, which makes sense why some of the elements feel way out of date. Some of the comic relief seems 90s to me but it’s not as bad as older books can be. I cringe whenever the bank robbers are on page, but I really could have gotten over that if the relationship wasn’t stupid. Oh well.

Goodreads First Read

Turner, the main character, has waited for four years for revenge for her Uncle Rusty who was blamed for embezzling for the bank he worked for. A robbery occurs at the bank where now Turner works on Saturdays while she waits for a perfect opportunity to exact revenge. When the bank robbers flee the scene Turner robs the safe deposit of the bank owner, and the man she thinks really has been embezzling. FBI agent John MacKinnon comes in to track her down and arrest her. He instantly falls for Turner though and realizes there is a lot more going on then the initial robbery and as he pursues her so is a hired killer. The story line between Turner and John keeps the book interesting but the breaks with the story of the initial robbers just is not appealing. Overall I liked the story though even though much of it is fantasy love story and two bumbling idiots.

Angajata e data in urmarire generala.

Love this author, enjoyed the plot ideas and the cat-and-mouse tension, but I think this is one of her weaker books because it relies too much on the dumber relationship clichés of the genre-- absurdly fast romance, both characters accepting an illicit, actually illegal, relationship with shaky pretext and no qualms, and some overused and silly descriptive language in the bedroom scenes. It starts off strongly, to the point that I was going to recommend it to my husband to read, but the ending was pretty stupid (see previous sentence). Perhaps this is one of her earlier books; recent novels by EH are some of the strongest in the genre that I've found.

really good idea, during a bank robbery one of the bank workers gets the key to a safe deposit box and takes a envelope out. but she knows she is on the camera and the fbi sees her. she packs up and changes cars.

she was looking for evidence that the bank guy was stealing from the bank and had blamed it on her dead uncle. turns out she was right but the evidence wasnt in the bank box. she also looked at his house but there was a shoot out. she was flirting with the fbi guy who was after her and he was flirting back. they had sex and ended up together, he found the evidence to clear her uncle

Takes place in wisconsin and I didn't want to murder the author. Fictional town in Washburn County off Hwy 53! Spooner, Rice Lake, Rhinelander, Milwaukee, Madison (with on the square shootout!)

Yes please

I loved the phone calls in the beginning. The two bank robbers are a bit cartoonish. It wasn't perfect but it was very good. WAY too insta lovey though.

This book was such a fun, steamy read. The chemistry between the characters was intense and the romance scenes definitely delivered. It had that perfect mix of heat and story that kept me hooked from start to finish. A little over the top at times, but in the best way. If you’re looking for something sexy and entertaining, this one’s worth picking up. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
