Peril in Little Leaf Creek is the second book in Cindy Bell’s newest series, A Little Leaf Creek Cozy Mystery. When a famous rock climber is discovered dead, many assume it’s an accident. Yet, there are those who want further investigation based on the victim’s meticulous safety protocol. Once murder has been determined, Cassie Alberta, along with her friend Tess, start to search for clues. Although the rock climber had many fans, he also had quite a few enemies, adding to the list of suspects.
I am really enjoying this series and the characters Ms. Bell has created. Both Carrie and Tess have strong personalities, albeit Carrie is more impulsive. The story took many twists and turns, with a definite uncertainty of the killer. I was not expecting the ending when the killer is revealed. I am looking forward to book three in this series. There is a lot of happening within the town of Little Leaf Creek and the relationships of all those involved. I received an advanced copy of this book, all the thoughts expressed here are my own.
I’ve read almost all of Cindy Bell’s many series and have enjoyed most of her books. Although I will probably continue to read the books in this series because I do like the author, I am finding these to be a tad slower than most of her series. I have guessed correctly the “who done it” for both of the first two in the series, which is usually not the case when I read her books. I don’t find myself liking the characters as much as I usually do with her books. I’m also not very impressed over the fact that the main character has two men apparently interested in her—I am indifferent to which of the two might end up with her. Still, I’ll probably continue to read the upcoming new releases in the series just because they are written by one of my favorite cozy authors. I have had some of her series grow on me more as new books came out, so maybe that will be the case again.
I stopped at 51%. Crazy main character investigating a murder and risking her life trying to do it. As she walked into the woods near the dark she kept saying she s scared and shouldn't be doing this. DUH! I enjoyed the first book but gave up on this one. NOTE TO AUTHORS: Stop using this plot device.

Will the culprit be caught before Cassie becomes the next victim?
It'd been way over a year since I read the first book in this series, so I was glad to make time to get back to it. I got pulled right back in with Cassie and her sometimes-grouchy ex-cop friend Tessa's world. There's quite a bit more to be learned about her friend, at least Cassie thought so. But she seemed to be the only one Tessa would open up even a little bit to. I'm hoping Cassie decides on either Ollie or Sebastian soon. I've actually read future blurbs and know which one just not when lol.
The showdown was exciting and backup came when needed and the nasty perp was hauled off. Cassie's so eager for her two good friends Oliver and Tessa to get along again, but I'm sure time'll tell on that!
I enjoyed learning more about the artist Trevor Daniel that we met in Chaos in Little Leaf Creek. He was well written. His passion about the case was infectious. Cassie's love triangle was a bit tiring. What's up with Oliver's questions about Cassie's husband? They have gone beyond casual curiosity.
I wasn't as fond of this book as the first in the series. There is a death in town that shocks everyone. At first it is assumed it was an accident but most people in town believe it was murder. Cassie becomes involved for no apparent reason other than her employer knows it couldn't be her godson, Aiden, when the police question him. For me, thus was too unbelieveable, that the police would allow her to run all over town questioning "suspects" willy nilly. It almost cost her her life. I'll continue to read from the series, I just hope the others are better than this.
This one wasn't any better than the first one. I really don't like it when city people try to write about country life. The constant harping on the dairy farmer not wanting people on his property got really old. Farmers hate trespassers who dump trash on their property and harass their animals, leave gates in the wrong position, and just make a nuisance of themselves. Dairy cows have mercurial temperaments which affects their milk production. And does the author really think that goats can bite? This author and series is definitely NOT for me.
Cassie Alberta is still settling into her new home in Little Leaf Creek. An accomplished rock climber, Clyde Timpson, is found dead in his tent from an apparent gas stove accident. Cassie and her neighbor, Tessa Watters, a former police officer, are determined to find Clyde's killer. There are many twists and turns in this book. I have enjoyed watching the characters grow. I cannot wait for Book #3 in this series. I received an advance copy of this book. This is my honest review.
This series is really starting to be a favorite. The characters are developing and growing. Some are starting to give us their back stories. The murder mystery in this book was not easy for me to figure out. Actually the murderer was quite the surprise. So it was right on course for this excellent author. Now I'll get started on the next book in this series.
Second in the Little Leaf Creek series this is a wonderful cozy story!
After the camping death of Clyde an experienced adventurer, Cassie, Tessa, Oliver and Sebastian come together to not only did Clyde not die as the result of a novice mistake, but to find who killed him. This story has lots of twists, turns and a red herring or two.
Cassie has recently moved to the small town of Little Leaf Creek and is once again involved in a murder mystery. She also has two men seemingly interested in her. She does not think she wants another man in her life -- she's a widow -- but she is attracted to both. Can't wait to read the next book to see where the romance goes.
Cassie seems to be settling into Little Leaf Creek just fine. Two men appear to be chasing her. When someone dies she feels she needs to prove it was a murder. I enjoy the animals that are a part of the series. They help give me a mushy feeling. This is a fabulous series! I highly recommend it.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
It was a good story with lots of twists and turns. I like most of the characters in the book but Cassie gets on my nerves when she continues to do stupid things that endanger her and other characters lives. However, I do like Tessa’s character as a strong role model, an animal lover, and evidently a great baker.
Cassie and Tessa get involved trying to find Clyde's killer. Both Sebastian and Oliver are interested in Cassie. Oliver invites Cassie out to dinner. Meanwhile Clyde's killer decides Cassie is getting too close and decides to kill her too.
Has Cassie gotten too close and take her knowledge to the grave?
I really enjoy this series by Cindy Bell. A woman starting over. A widow who is discovering she is strong enough to maybe date again. She helps solve a twisty turning murder. Will read more.
This book was ok. I found the storyline a bit boring and slow.to.develop with too many characters. The ending was sort of a surprise which helped improve my rating.
I've been enjoying reading this story, Peril in Little Leaf Creek, the story is a mystery and a little tension in the end. The story is a interesting adventure for the reader.
I really enjoyed reading this second book in the series. Cindy Bell is a good writer bringing visual to the story and characters. A good story with a surprise ending.
Two runaway burglars are being hunted and a dead body was found in the woods. Was it an accident? Or murder? After all, a seasoned camper would never have a stove inside a tent.
Kind of slow in some areas, but an interesting mystery nonetheless.
I have really enjoyed this book #2 in the Little Leaf Creek series and have a feeling I'm going to love every book from now on! I especially like the way Ms. Bell is slowly fleshing out each of the main characters. Book #3, here I come!
Just make her a police officer already with as much as she inserts herself. Did she abandon her waitressing already? 4.5 stars if she was just in law enforcement. Maybe these are spoilers? Otherwise, cute story and series.

Cute audiobook to walk to. Lots of potential suspects for another murder in this little town. Not surprising when the least probable person was identified as the deranged murderer and Cassie was fortuitously saved by Ollie. Nicely narrated and squeaky clean.

Enjoyed reading this story. Cassie is again investigating what she is sure is a murder. Story interested, kept my attention. Characters are fun--I am undecided who I want Cassie to fall in love with though. Recommend reading.
I found this an interesting read. Cassie is a likable character and initially I wasn’t fond of Tessa but I’ve gotten to like her better. Sebastian and Oliver seem like good guys. Each book has gotten more exciting.
Interesting plot, action, twists and suspense with great characters. I love how the mystery and clues gradually bring answers and put everything together. Hint of romance just adds another dimension. Not overly long story but has enough to let readers get sucked in. Read as part of the box set.
I was so excited to find this delivered to my kindle! A wonderful surprise! This book was excellent, with its characters, the plot and a little bit of romance.
