“GENDER PSYCHOSIS” is a term used to describe a formally recognized mental illness involving a society-wide break from reality where people go so absolutely apeshit trying to figure out what their genitals mean, NOTHING makes sense anymore. It’s a strange new world where men need tampons, get their balls waxed, and breastfeed their kids.Where “homophobia” is a more heinous crime than knowingly infecting someone with HIV. Where fear of being called “homophobic” leads people to pretend that Ellen Degeneres is funny.Where women falsely accuse men of rape and justify it because of, you know, history and stuff.Where women bark so loudly from their vaginas that everyone needs earplugs.Where ugly men blame beautiful women for the fact that ugly men can’t get laid.Where it is established as a scientific fact. beyond a whisper of doubt, from here to eternity, that being weird doesn’t necessarily make you sexy.In 80 hilarious chapters, Jim Goad mocks the reigning sexual pieties simply because they don't make a lick of sense.
Goad started his writing career with the magazine "ANSWER Me!" Which got connected with a triple suicide by British gothics and of the white house shooting of Francisco Martin Duran.
In 1998 he was convicted of abusing his girlfriend and was released in 2000. In prison he wrote his autobiography "Shit Magnet."
Jim Goad has a great writing style. This book tells a lot of stories about the absurd clown world we live in. All the freaks and crazy sjws. It was hard to put down.
As a Nordic white male, scum of the earth, what laughter and pleasure I got from this book. More than a breath, James, youre a storm of fresh air. How can they call common sense raicism, mysoginy, hate? We all know why: cause it aint.
Jim Goad: you either love him or hate him. I am solidly in the former category. He was the reigning king of the zine scene back in the early-90s; “Answer Me!” pushed every limit beyond its breaking point. He’s not a racist; he hates EVERYONE equally.
I have followed and loved him throughout his career: when he and Debby were kicked off Wally George’s public-access TV show; their reign as zine-king/queen; Jim’s ill-fated love affair with a barely-legal babe—and then as a love-scorned convict; his foray into respectability during his tenure at Taki’s Mag; and even now that he has descended back to obscurity at the politically-incorrect CounterCurrent. Heaven help me, I’ll follow that man to hell.
As usual, Jim Goad throws a literary Molotov onto the social milieu of today by addressing issues relating to transgender activism, modern incarnations of feminism, their male feminist allies and how generally toxic they are as human beings, and all manner of issues with his usual hilarious and acidic wit.
My favourite line of the whole book was in the chapter on Kurt Cobain being basically a loser and Courtney Love was, by all accounts of anyone who knows her, a walking justification for misogyny. Genuinely laughed for a minute straight on that one.
