Alpha Claimed #3

Captured by the Lion

Rate this book
Welcome to the world of the Alpha Claimed. Each story features a strong woman and the man or men that love her. Every book is standalone, but once you read one you'll want to read the others.

Leigh Hale is on the run from a dangerous ex-boyfriend after she turned him into the police for running a Ponzi scheme. Now, she’s back home and looking to start fresh. Of course, she doesn’t expect to find the one man she’s always been weak for at a coffee shop before she has a chance to shower or brush her hair.

Xander Caze has his hands full with his businesses and family. But when Leigh returns to town, he knows he needs to see her. He hadn’t expected for adult Leigh to be so beautiful, sassy and full of life. Not only that, she’s his mate. It boggles his mind to realize he’s known her most of his life and just realized the same woman who proposed to him at five years old was meant to be his future wife.

Leigh’s ex isn’t the only problem in her life. No longer interested in going back to work at a big city, Leigh needs to find a new job. When danger comes calling from all sides, she’ll get help from an unlikely person. Staying alive becomes a priority and Xander is doing his best to protect her. Too bad he might not get to her in time.

King of any jungle

I love this book! The characters were phenomenal and perfect for each other, their story was so sweet, especially when you think about how long it was in the making. I enjoyed the way the author brought the book to life with the many layers to the story. Each one added something new and interesting keeping the story moving and me on my toes until the very last page. This book is one I know I will be reading more than once, and it left me excited to see what the author brings our way next.

2.5 stars

I enjoyed most of this book. I liked that Leigh and Xander had a history so it didn't make the relationship feel too fast. I liked that Leigh didn't freak out when she found out Xander was a shifter, especially how she found out. I kind of wish we got to see more of Leigh's brother in the story, I think it would have added another dimension to the story. Xander was so sweet and worked so hard to make sure he was trying to show Leigh what she meant to him.

My biggest problem with this book was the Marleen twist. It felt like the author was trying to make a point, but it really missed the mark for me.

Content warning: sexual assault/rape (discussion of events to secondary character, potential/almost to MC)
I almost never mention content warnings in my reviews, but this took me by surprise and I think it's important in this case.

Ok so for the most part I did like this story. Xander and Leigh are sweet and perfect for each other. These two have known each other since they were children, and now that Leigh is in trouble-Xander steps up to help protect her. His life may be crazy and always busy but he will do what he can to help his best friend protect his little sister. And then realizes that she is his mate when he see's her again. So now he not only has to protect her but show he that they belong together.

Ordinarily, I love these story lines. And this one started off good for me. But then there were some strange things added to the story that I didn't really like or understand. Like what is the deal with the Marlene character and that portion of the story? It seemed off and just slightly weird to me. There were a couple other things that were a bit weird for me and just seemed unnecessary, but on a whole I did like the book. I just didn't love this one.

I waffled back and forth about the rating for this book. For the most part I liked it up until the end part with Marleen. I feel bad for what she went through but I have a hard time with what Marleen did even if she did save Leigh’s life. She tells her lies about Xander, drugs her, strips both of them naked and is touching Leigh while she is out of it. It is a little much that Leigh is so forgiving of those things that she acts like that didn’t happen and only focuses on how she died saving her.

Well now Milly is up to it again, she gives us the third book in an already great series with a Lion to boot, I loves me some Lions. *winks*

As the story opens it reaffirms why exes are just ugh! We all wish the "hindsight" 20/20 thing but it just doesn't go like that. When the depth of her ex's betrayal became apparent, she hightailed home to what she knew had always safe for her.

When you find your mate all you want to do is consume them piece by delicious piece, she grew up and moved away which didn't keep his thoughts from her though. He'd looked after her when they were kids and it seems he will be picking up that same mantle, her ex is dangerous. It's Xander's job to keep Leigh safe. Keeping her safe and the fact that she was his mate is going to make things interesting there are things Leigh doesn't know.

You gots to love their faces! so much personality. Xander and Leigh. *fangirl sighs* Oh definitely the Lion factor working. A great story with great characters. If you haven't read the previous two books you should and fall in love with them too. Enjoy.

This is an OK shifter romance, but I did have a few issues with it. It features the typical shifter instalove, but I would have liked a little more backstory on the couple.

Leigh and Xander were likable, and they were good together. I liked that Xander's pride members automatically considered Leigh part of the pride, since she was his mate.

I also didn't really believe that Leigh was in love with Xander, especially at first. She was definitely in lust, but she wasn't a shifter, so I didn't believe she would fall in love with him so quickly.

I have to agree with several other reviewers who thought that the plot points about Marleen were a little odd. I get that it was added to give Leigh a reason to want to help women who were rape/traffic victims, but Marleen's behavior just didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the plot. She did the right thing in the end -- but still, what she did to Leigh before that was just weird. I thought the story should have concentrated on Leigh's evil ex, rather than add another person to the mystery.

One complaint is that most of Milly's stories are a bit too explicit for me. I like hot sex in romances, but I would prefer it to be a little less descriptive and dirty. I am not a prude, but the really explicit stuff is just not romantic to me. But I will continue to read Milly's writing, as it is entertaining and fun.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Captured by the Lion is the third book in the Alpha Claimed series. In this book we follow lion shifter Xander & human Leigh as they find their happily ever after.

Leigh has run away from her life in the big city in fear for her life. She's returned to her childhood home after she finds out her boyfriend isn't all that he seemed to be. She calls her brother to tell him she's in trouble & since he can't get to her, he calls his best friend Xander to watch over her. Leigh has had a crush on Xander since they were young & certainly wasn't ready to run into him before she'd even had her first cup of coffee, much less bothered to even comb her hair.

Xander has a hectic life trying to run his businesses & take care of his clan, but when his best friend calls to ask him to help his sister how could he refuse? After all, he's known her almost all his life. He had no idea that she was his mate. Could he protect her when danger comes?

I liked this book for the most part. It was a good story line with interesting characters, though some of the interactions between them didn't always make sense. The side plot involving the female lead & her old school mate kind baffled me a bit, but other than that it was basically a good read. I wavered a little bit on the rating but decided that it was closer to a four star for me. All in all, this one is worth a read.

Another wonderful addition to this series, captivating read
This is the third book in this series and I once again enjoyed every moment, the characters and the plot were extremely well done. I loved the characters Leigh who is starting to get her life started again after a rough start with a bad boyfriend, all credit to her though as she simply gets on with things as best as she can without complaints or waterworks.
She returns to her home town and once again meets a childhood friend Xander who she had fallen in love with and proposed to at the grand old age of five, a very mature five at that though.
Xander is surprised to see Leigh and has to admit that she has stayed in his mind over the years even though they had been only children. She has turned into a beautiful woman with a heart equally a lovely, he is surprised when he realises that she is in fact his Mate.
The connection between the two is strong however the differences in their up bringing cause some problems and Xander is aware that Leigh is not aware of what a mate is and knows if things are going to go well, he cannot rush her too much.
This is a really great read it has all kinds of ups and downs and keeps you guessing.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Leigh & Xander

She'd wanted to make it in the big city and she did--until she witnessed her ex in a money scheme and turned him in. Now she's on the run from him and what he will do if he catches her. She sees old friends she's missed which makes her wonder if coming home isn't what she should have done all along. When she runs into her brother's best friend and her life-long love interest there are surprises all around.

He couldn't believe the little girl he protected from bullies had grown into this gorgeous woman and she's his mate. Right, had she known something he didn't as a kid? Now he wants to do more than protect her. He'll have to explain it to her brother but she's worth it. That is if the ex doesn't find her.

Their romance is steaming with shifter love, hero-worship turned lover, good friends, fun characters, and an introduction to her brother. Could he be the next to fall?

Love the series, the characters, and the storylines. As always, Ms. Taiden has given us a winner.

Starts well but ends weirdly for me.
Really was an enjoyable and sweet read at the start with childhood memories being part of their lives as adults.
But Leigh not telling Xander the truth of what was going on with the ex, when she had told her brother, was silly. Xander was also an ex soldier and therefore able to protect her.
Where it went wrong for me after this good start, was I just couldn’t understand why we needed the unbalanced Marleen part in this book.
Someone drugs you, sexually assaults you but all is fine as they take a bullet and die for you.
Yes, it was horrible what Marleen had endured as a young adult and young woman but that is on her parents and it was not an excuse to drug and sexually molest another person.
And then naming a woman’s shelter after her felt more like a reward.
Sad about how closed minded the various parents were. Marleen’s over her sexuality and Leigh’s over keeping her brother separate from her life.
Read through Kindle Unlimited.

Leigh has been through it all with her now ex boyfriend back in New York. She comes home running for her life after realizing the depth of his deceit. When she comes back to her childhood home, she calls her brother to let him know and since he cannot be there, he contacts his best friend Xander. Xander has always been protective of Leigh but thought it was because he was her brother's best friend. The instant he meets her he knows that she is the one, his mate. What he doesn't know is that Leigh wasn't informed of his shifter status and there are many things that aren't quite as they seem.

I loved the intense spark and heat between the two but Xander did an amazing job wooing Leigh. There are many enemies, known and unknown that kept you on the edge. I love how they tied this couple in with the other two and that Pictionary scene made me laugh so hard I cried.

After finding out her boyfriend is a criminal, Leigh ran back to her hometown to hide from him. She didn't expect to run into her brother's best friend, Xander. The same Xander she's crushed on for years.

When Xander gets a call from his friend telling him his sister, Leigh is back in town and is in danger, he rushes right over to help her. He's stunned to realize she's his mate. Can he keep Leigh safe while convincing her she belongs with him? Read and see.

I liked Xander and Leigh, although I'm not sure about some of the choices she made. Overall, this book had an interesting storyline with some danger, humor, and lots of smexy-times. 3.75 stars rounded up to 4.

Awesome! I love to read books from Milly Taiden. Captured by the Lion is the third book in the Alpha Claimed series. This is Leigh and Xander's story. Xander is a lion shifter and the alpha too. And Leigh is his best friend's little sister and Xander's mate. Leigh is trying to get away from her ex by returning to her hometown. There is so much chemistry between Xander and Leigh. There's danger lurking near Leigh. Can Xander keep Leigh safe? It had a great action and a surprise twist. I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read the next book in this series. Keep up the awesome work! I HIGHLY recommend reading books from Milly Taiden.

An enjoyable story

Leigh and Zander knew each other as kids, but now that she has returned home after living in NY for years, he is dying to know her more as the sexy woman she has become. Unfortunately, he has to woo her, protect her from her ex, and an unknown stranger all intent on keeping them apart.

The story was cute and I enjoyed the characters. I felt like there was so much more that could be done with the storyline. What is transparent through each of the books is that every Alpha never takes the threats to his woman seriously. There were so many unnecessary issues in the story that didn’t make sense if the Alpha was acting like an Alpha, but this didn’t diminish the story.

I am enjoying the series so far and definitely recommend it.

Xander and Leigh - She asked him to marry her when she was five and he said 'yes'. Always protective of his best friend's cute little sister, he is astonished when he learns she is his mate. His need to protect her will be tested when she is in the crosshairs of an ex with bad intentions and an old classmate with a stalker vibe. I really enjoyed this steamy AF tale. Great characters as always, playing their parts flawlessly to get the MCs to their HEA. The entire storyline with Marleen threw me a bit. If she was so enamored of Leigh, how could she hurt Leigh like she had been? I listened to the Audible version. The narrator did a great job but the recording drop in volume in multiple places.

I could not stop reading this new story. I don’t really review by retelling the story but I try to convey what I love about this book. I love the drama from the start with Leigh returning home and calling her brother. And when Xander went to talk to his Mom about mates....my heart melted. I love that he talked about how he just felt the need to protect her from the time she was a child and how that has changed. I truly felt the connection and chemistry from the start and I pray Leigh’s brother is the next story! Thanks for sharing these stories with us Milly!

Book 3 in Alpha Claimed by Milly Taiden
Leigh is trying to start her life after getting her ex boyfriend convicted of a fraudulent scheme that cost people a lot of money.
She heads to her hometown where she meets her childhood friend Xander that she proposed to when she was 5.
Xander can’t believe Leigh has turned into a stunning young woman that is his mate. How come he didn’t know she was his mate?
I love that Xander hasn’t really got time to reconnect with his mate Leigh but he tries.
Love the story and to be honest you can beat MT for romance shifter.

This book had me hooked from the beginning to the end! Loved the interaction between Xander and Leigh. A protector of the heart. Leigh proposed to Xander at the age of five. Who was to know that years later it would become a true marriage? This book was funny, exciting and full of action! Leigh came back to her hometown, running from her ex-boyfriend. Xander steps up to protect his true Mate. Must read to find out how it all comes together!

Exciting with a twist

Who cannot help but live a lion shifter. I truly enjoyed reading this book as we watched two people fall in love. Always love it when mates fall in love after they have known each other for a lifetime. I would have loved to see Xander's face when she asked him at marry her at 5. Favorite scene in whole book.

You will not help but fall in love with the characters in this book and want to read their stories again and again.

Leigh's been in love with Xander her whole life. But- he is her brother's best friend and he has a secret. Xander is thrilled to find that Leigh has returned to their hometown but not so thrilled about the circumstances. Her ex is bad news and he just has to prove it. And Leigh? Oh yeah. He's sure she's his mate. Excellent story in the Alpha Claimed series-Strong heroine and the Alpha who loves her.....

Leigh comes home after being gone for years. While gone she got herself into trouble of course due to men and now her friend in childhood is all set to be her protector in adulthood and more. Zander has always found himself drawn to Leigh even as a child and now he can't seem to stay away from her. This lion has found him mate. But will she accept him is the question? Good story

This book is a shifter love story. My only complaint with this story was that there were a few too many storylines being told at once. The brother's best friend falling in love with his little sister romance, then the girl on the run from an ex who's dangerous, and another side story just thrown in about a girl who left school and recently showed up in town.

Otherwise, it was a good book.

Childhood friends reunite

Running to her hometown to get away from a lying, thriving, no good, soon to be ex, bring her back in touch with people she grew up with. That includes her brothers best friend, the same man that she proposed to at age six when he was twelve.
But someone is after her and wants her dead. There are several possibilities but which one is it?
A good book that has a some of the past characters making an appearance.

Love me some Lions, and Xander takes the cake. So fine and sweet but fierce in his love and protection. Leigh's problems are huge and deadly. How will finding out that she's her childhood crush's mate mesh with running for her life. Only Ms Milly can do it and make you smile. And the twist? No one touches the Alpha's mate!

Xander always knew Leigh was his mate but he knew she wasn't ready, until she's back and she is!
Leigh doesn't understand the draw to Xander, she craves him, only feels settled in his arms....until she finds out his secret!
I love this series, I read this book on Kindle Unlimited.
