Welcome to the world of the Alpha Claimed. Each story features a strong woman and the man or men that love her. Every book is standalone, but once you read one you'll want to read the others.
Piper Rain is a romance author that stopped believing in love. She’s been unable to write about it since her divorce and having her heart broken. So she gets away and looks for inspiration out in the mountains. What she didn’t expect to find was a sexy, romantic neighbor that would bring the spark of hope back into her heart.
Zain Lockwood is happy living out in the woods on his own. Though he is the alpha of a clan, he prefers solitude. Until a strong, beautiful but wounded female ends up as his neighbor. Suddenly, teaching her that love exists and that she is the perfect mate for him becomes his sole focus.
With problems with a neighboring Alpha and trying to find a way to romance Piper, Zain has his hands full. Piper’s been emotionally hurt and she’s not sure that she can love again. Even if it means letting go of the only man who’s ever made her feel anything. But it all comes to a head when someone takes his mate. Zain will do anything to make sure Piper’s safe, even if it means killing one of his own.
Milly Taiden (also writes as April Angel) was born in the prettiest part of the Caribbean (to her) known as the Dominican Republic. Currently, she resides in New York City with her husband, bossy young son and their little dog Speedy.
When she’s not working full-time, texting with her best friend Heidi in England, chastising her son for pulling the dog’s ears, shopping with her sister Jewel or watching scary movies with her husband, she can be found writing on her laptop.
She’s addicted to shoes, chocolate, Dunkin Donuts coffee and JIMMY THOMAS covers!!!
This was exactly what I expected it to be.....good.....not amazing, but just a good quick audio. The narrator did a great job. The story was a quick, fated mate, small town romance with just a little suspense.
This is my first time listening this author's work and I enjoyed it. I think these 5-6 hour books are hard because they aren't quite a quick and dirty novella where you are ready to get in and out..
But they are also not long enough to give you a real look into a relationship, so there is definitely insta-love (which never bugs me in the hole shifter, fated mate scenarios).
Both the hero and heroine are likable. Both in their 30s and both acted their age. There is no miscommunication (well sort of). There is no angst between the couple. It was just a fun little shifter rom-com.
So in the end, when comparing to other books like this, it was a good audio and I will definitely pick up this author again.
*Note: Yes I totally started with book 4, its kinda my thing at this point to start at the end of a series.
Another wonderful addition to the Alpha Claimed series! This book is all about finding yourself and starting over, and the author did a fantastic job! Not one, but two couples got their chance to look at the day in a brand new light. The characters are phenomenal! I love the alpha! He was tough when he needed to be, but he let his people make decisions and grow at their own pace. And how can you not love a romance writer, with a heart of gold, who escapes to the mountains to reconnect with her inner seductress. This book has all the feel goods, and a bad guy I never saw coming to keep the story moving and me enthralled until the very last page. This really was a fantastic read and one I can’t wait to read again.
I loved the heroine in this story. Piper Rain is a romance author that stopped believing in love. Her recent divorce has affected her ability to write. A vacation in the mountains provides her with the opportunity to rethink her choices and reset. She is smart and quirky and deserves the love of her hot landlord the local bear shifter alpha. I totally missed guessed the bad guy. This is a sweet and sexy tale of new beginnings.
Loved this story... Piper was such a great character that I believe most women can relate to her and all she has been through . Zain was so adorable and sweet you couldn't help but love him.. There were alot of great characters in this story..
This is an OK shifter romance, but I did have a few issues with it. It features the typical shifter instalove, but I would have liked a little more backstory on the couple.
Piper and Zain were likable, and they were good together. I liked that Zain's clan members automatically considered Piper part of the clan, since she was his mate. I also liked that the kids in the clan willingly helped to save her life a couple of times.
I didn't really believe that Piper was in love with Zain, especially at first. She was definitely in lust, but she wasn't a shifter, so I didn't believe she would fall in love with him so quickly.
I thought the plot points about Michelle were a little odd. I get that it was added to add more drama to the story, but Piper's rescue from the flood would have been enough. The stuff with Michelle just seemed kind of unnecessary. I thought the story should have concentrated on Piper and Zain, rather than add a disturbed person to the mystery.
I have to agree with several other reviewers that the ending to this book was too abrupt. Piper is saved, the couple is happy, and it just ends. There is no mention of them getting married, or Piper's reaction to finding out she is pregnant.
One complaint is that most of Milly's stories are a bit too explicit for me. I like hot sex in romances, but I would prefer it to be a little less descriptive and dirty. I am not a prude, but the really explicit stuff is just not romantic to me. But I will continue to read Milly's writing, as it is entertaining and fun.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
I feel like I keep writing the same heading regarding this series.
Piper is nursing a broken heart. Well, not actually a broken heart, more like a “I should have never married him, let alone stayed in the marriage with the cheating bastard for 10 years”. She she’s taking some time to not only get over her divorce, but also find her mojo. Her writing has been non-existent and as a romance author, she needs to find her “romance”.
Zain is Alpha of a small sleuth in the mountains. He’s trying to get the young people engaged and bring his struggling town into the current, so the last thing he needed was to find his mate, but now that he has, he is determined to make her his.
The story started out great..the attraction was there, the smart ass mom was there, the Alpha male who is sexy and growly..got it..then there is a bit of angst and some sabotage, got that..then there is the realization that she’s his mate..we’re still doing good. It starts to go south toward the end, where it seems like we need to wrap this up real quick. The crazy girl who no one knew was crazy, an epilogue that is really just the a continuation of the last chapter..no glimpse into the future. I hate that. What happened with the town? Were they able to rebuild? What happened when Piper found out she was pregnant? I assume she moved to town, what happened with her writing? Did Zain become the new leading man? Something, anything. This is how it was with the last 4 stories. The story had some good bones, but still left you hanging in the end.
Chosen by the Bear is the fourth book in the Alpha Claimed series. In this series we meet human Piper & bear shifter Zain as they make their way to happily ever after.
Piper is an author with a problem. She hasn't been able to write since her heart was broken by her divorce. She's hoping a few weeks in the mountains will help her recover & help the words flow again. She hadn't been expecting to meet him.
Zain is the alpha of his clan, but prefers to live alone on the mountain. He does his best for his clan but it's hard with the older members holding onto the old ways & the younger ones leaving to make their way in the world. Then he meets the woman that rented out his mother's house. She's human & she's his mate. She knows little about shifters & doesn't believe in love so he's got his work cut out for him. But with everything else going on will he be able to protect her when trouble comes?
This one started a little slow for me. I had a bit of a time connecting to the main characters & honestly, tho I did start to understand them, I connected more with the young clan members. The plot line was a good one, tho a few things bothered me a bit. All in all tho, this is a good read for a quiet afternoon.

This is the 4th book in the Alpha Claimed series but it can absolutely be read as a stand alone. Piper Rain is a romance author who has stopped believing in love ever since her divorce. To try to find inspiration, she goes away to the mountains. She didn't expect to meet her neighbor, a man who would spark something in her. Zain Lockwood is happy out in the woods living on his own. And even though he is alpha, he prefers to be alone than with his clan. But when the beautiful woman moves in next door, he can't help but want to show her that love exists and that they are the perfect mates. But when someone takes his mate, Zain will do whatever he has to in order to make sure she is safe.
So I really liked Zain and Piper together. I liked that he showed her that not all men are the same. That there is more to love than just heartache. I liked them together. They, of course, seem perfect for each other. Which is how mates should be in my head anyway. They have this perfect chemistry together. Of course you have the little bit of suspense, and I liked how that played out. My only issue-I didn't like how it ended. It almost seemed like there was a chapter missing. There was a lot of things that just seemed to be left hanging, like it was unfinished. I don't know how else to put it. Everything else in this book-I really liked. I just didn't like how almost abrupt the ending was.
After being in a love-less marriage for a decade, best-selling romance writer, Piper Rain, finds herself newly divorced by her selfish ex. The problem is she has writer's block because she doesn't believe in love, after never having it in the first place. So with the help of her mom, she left her apartment in NY and rented a house in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Georgia to help recapture her muse.
Piper has no clue that she's vacationing in a shifter town until she meets her neighbor. Her next door neighbor and landlord is the Alpha of the Bear clan. Zain Lockwood has been waiting for his mate to show up, when he meets Piper, he's thrilled. But she's a human, so he'll have to take things slowly with her.
Zain steals her heart so easily, she almost fears the day that he'll end things between them. But when she comes to understand that she's his mate, she realizes that he'll never want another.
But there's a mentally unstable shifter who thinks that Zain belongs to her and she'll do anything to get rid of Piper.
Another wonderful book by Milly Taiden, riveting read I thoroughly enjoyed This is a wonderful read and the characters Zain and Piper are just simply wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed every part of this book and I am sure that you will enjoy it as much as me. The characters are really full of action and attitude and the personalities are larger than life and keep you reading, laughing and full of intrigue and general questions. Piper knows that he is the man for her and that there is no way that Emma has a large heart and that she cares about those around her, Emma even reads as a cute character and without a doubt guarantee that once you begin reading you will not be able to put this book down until you reach the final page. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Piper is working on trying to move past her recent divorce and find her muse so she can get back to writing romance novels. A month away in a mountain cabin should be just what she needs to restart her writing. A new location to give her some inspiration and hot neighbor to give her a taste of the romance her life has been missing.
I liked Piper. She wasn't a push-over, but she had a quietness to her strength. I understood why, with her divorce so recent, her ex was in her thoughts frequently, but I could have done without mentions of him all the time (sometimes the comparisons got to be a bit much). I thought Zain was great. I loved how he interacted with the teenagers, he gave them a chance to shine. I also thought it was adorable the way he treated Piper, he didn't push and instead tried to give her time.
Final book in the Alpha Claimed series! This time our heroine is a romance author who's struggling with writer's block because she no longer believes in love. Our hero is renting out the cabin our heroine is staying in... and just happens to be the Alpha of the local bear clan. For once, the threat in the book isn't a direct result following the heroine to the area, though she is the target when it happens. Our Alpha not only realizes that this human is his mate, but he's got to deal with a family who splintered off to create their own clan after experiencing a tragedy and is trying to convince them to come back to ensure that the children are clothed and fed. When a number of "accidents" begin to happen, he now has to protect his mate and stop whoever is causing this. Found family is probably one of the biggest tropes in this book - both finding one to welcome you in and realizing that the one you ran from will still be there for you. All in all an excellent end to the series!
He's Alpha yet likes his privacy and distance from those he's responsible for. He's not searching for his mate until he finds her right next door. She's gonna be around a while and all he has to do is convince her to make it permanent. Not counting his business and those he cares for and the town with its own issues.
She needs to recover from her life and the man who made stole her belief in love. Hard for a romance writer to write if she doesn't believe in love. Of course, that he is hot, kind, protective is making her rethink her life.
Can the two find a love they weren't expecting? Add problems with his people/bears, and unknown danger.
Besides great characters, the author always adds something to improve life in her story and life in general. Check out his treatment of the kids in town.
You know I looked at my 5 star 2021 list and there isn't a lot on my list yet, still early granted. Just something I noticed when I rated this book.
Milly usually comes through for me with great characters and amazing worlds. She did it with this one also. It's a sweet and sexy feel-good story and hot can't leave the hot out.
A sexy rom writer that just stopped believing in love, how can a muse write about love with closed-off emotions. Well, maybe some fresh mountain air will tickle both the writer and her muse.
Big sexy bear, so sweet and passionate, he's got a clan to take care of and will have to make some New changes the old guard may not be too keen on.
Grab this one, of course, its part of an already crazy good series, grab the previous ones too. So worth the amazingly hot, sexy sweet journey. Enjoy.
Awesome! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I love to read stories from Milly Taiden. Chosen by the Bear is the fourth book in the Alpha Claimed series. Zain is an alpha to his bear clan and he is waiting for his true mate. Piper is taking a vacation in the mountains after just been recently divorced. Piper is an romance author, and now she has writers block. Piper is done with love. Zain knew the first time he met Piper that she is his mate. All he needs to do is get her to know that too. How can she get past the block? Can Zain be her muse, maybe? This is an exciting, interesting, grab your attention and never let go kinda of book. So you will have to read this fro yourself to see what happens between them. Keep up the awesome work girl!
Hot hot hot!! - Zain and Piper set the pages on fire! Exiting a bad marriage has hardened her heart to love, but as a romance writer that's not gonna work. Engaging with a community of shifters opens Piper's eyes to a whole new world, and brings forth a protective streak she never used to save herself from her ex. She faces down a couple of alpha bears to make things better for her new clan members, not caring about their growliness.
Zain is sweetly naive, saving himself from the clutches of random females to give his heart fully to his mate. He knows she's his, but what's a friend with benefits? He'll protect her and back her concerns, even if it makes him a little unpopular with his clan.
Another great Milly Taiden tale, with wonderful characters.
I listened to the Audible version. Great narration.
I love Zain and Piper! I have enjoyed all the books in this series but I think this may be the best so far, Zain and Piper are great, believable characters with quirky, funny personalities. Zain is pack Alpha and as such cares about and is invested in every one of his pack members, but Piper fits him perfectly, she also cares...even before she knows anything about mates and her future role, the care she shows for Emma is heartwarming. Emma is very cute and will steal your heart from the moment you meet her but all the kids in this book are awesome...especially the teen leaders. Is there any chance of more books featuring this pack? I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
Piper is on vacation to get her creative juices flowing. She's got a serious case of writer's block. Which isn't feasible at all. Because Piper is a romance author. Piper is recently divorced after 10: years of marriage. And even though the marriage had been over for years, Piper is devastated done with love.
Zain is a bear shifter. Zain is an alpha. Zain stumbles update Piper after an encounter with another shifter. Zain soon realizes that Piper is his mate. His mate whom has been hurt and doesn't believe in love. Zain tries to subtly woo his mate and convince her that she isn't broken and love is worth pursuing.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and am leaving a voluntary review.
Milly did an amazing job creating this world. Piper is a romance writer who has given up on love and therefore, cannot write anymore. Her mother booked her this cabin in hopes of helping her get her muse back. Zain is the alpha of the local bears and owner of said cabin, little does he know he's about to be blown away by his mate, who no longer believes in love. While he's trying to woo her there is another party at play. One who will stop at nothing until they get what they want, Piper gone.
I loved how Piper and Zain came together, there was no secret he was a shifter because shifters were "outed" at the beginning by a little girl and her Dad. I could not put the story down. I highly recommend reading.
Good story but poorly executed. Entertaining but has a very rushed ending that leaves questions and I really am not sure why we get the crazy woman scenario. The fact Zain and Piper don’t have an honest relationship until near the end was a bit boring. Piper keeps having near misses (accidents) and still Zain doesn’t declare the truth about her being his mate. I always enjoy Ms Taiden’s books but sometimes her writing style is too rushed and jumpy for me. Way too many errors, reads like an unedited draft in places. Kindly offered for an honest review but read through Kindle Unlimited.
I absolutely love this series! This is Piper and Zain’s story. Piper is a romance author who has lost her muse. After divorcing her husband she doesn’t believe in love anymore. Zain is a bear shifter who is content with his quite life on the mountain. When Piper shows up he knows she’s his fated mate, but showing her love is still in her heart is another matter. When danger comes for Piper she will need Zain more than she knows. Can these two find their way to a happily ever after? Can Piper survive long enough to let Zain love her?
Piper is divorced, after ten years of marriage. She is giving up on love, which is hard because she writes romances. Her mother rented her a cabin in the woods. Zain is an alpha to his bear clan and he is waiting for his true mate. When he meets Piper, he is more than happy because she is his true mate. Problem is that she stopped believing in love and there is someone who wants her gone. Loved this story, couldn't put away.
I really loved Zain . He was a sweet, strong and a caring alpha bear shifter. I liked that he was not up on modern colloquial idioms, but tried to go with the flow for the most part. Piper seemed to be his perfect mate though unsure of that at first. A little excitement thrown in from nature and an unstable shifter you then have a story worth reading.
Are Milly’s books hot as sin...yes. But her books have great stories and shifters. This book felt so original to me. I loved Zain, his relationship with the kids, Piper and her career, how the town’s women LOVED romance books and Ali’s story line though it broke my heart. This was a standalone, happy ever after ending perfect book

What a great addition to the series! Zain is such a wonderful alpha! I love how he is with the kids in the sleuth! He was great with Piper also! Piper was just as awesome! She had a lot going on but she just took everything in stride. I loved how she was with Emma! These were great characters and such a wonderful story! Absolutely loved it!

Piper was in a rut. Recently divorced, this popular romance author just couldn't do it anymore. Her writing? Not happening. Her muse was gone. Determinedvtonget it back, she heads to a cabin in the mountains for some inspiration. And boy he does! Her neighbor happens to be the clan Alpha and he makes all her parts sing! Is Zain they key to her regained writing and maybe her own happy ever after? Another fabulous shifter romance in the Alpha Claimed book series by Milly Taiden!
What a perfect book! A romance author with writer's block goes into the mountains to reboot and finds her perfect mate by accident. Author Milly Taiden gives us once again a wonderful read that is filled with shifters and humans, love as well as things for us to think about in our everyday lives. The Alpha Claimed series is one in itself was a great read that left the reader thinking about more than just romance when we finished this set.
Awesome read and a great addition to the series. This book is all about finding yourself and starting over. With the add it intrigue, suspense, action, and of course steamy encounter to keep you hooked from beginning to end made it a helluva read. Overall a great read. I received a free copy via Booksprout and as always my reviews are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
Another wonderful addition to the Alpha Claimed series! and, like the other couples in this series, I LOVED Piper and Zain's story. Zain is looking for his one true mate and find her in Piper who has gone through a divorced that made her stop believing in love. What happens from there is a another awesome story by Milly Taiden. HIGHLY recommend this book.

Book 4 in Alpha Claimed series by Milly Taiden. Piper is a heartbroken romance writer that hasn’t been able to write since her divorce. She decides to get away from it all and ends up next door to sexy Alpha. Zain is the Alpha but prefers to live in isolated cabin. I love that zain really works to convince piper to take a risk on him and does old fashion courting. Milly Taiden is a cracking paranormal romance writer. Pre-order but for me every time.
