“I have never read a more heartfelt account of a woman's battle with alcohol and its devastation.” — Reviewer
The biggest demons live inside of us.
Faith Smith has always had a problem with alcohol. At first, she didn’t believe it was an issue, but slowly her life begins to unravel. Her job as a teacher hangs in the balance, her marriage begins to crumble, and she realizes that she’s putting her addiction before even her own children. Faith knows she has to do something to regain control of her life.
But her demons won’t abandon her so easily. Struggling with mood swings and losing control of her mind, Faith must summon all of her courage to find the light at the end of the tunnel. But with her relationships collapsing beneath the weight of her alcoholism, is it too late for Faith to salvage her life?
Told with a gritty realism that reflects the real daily struggles of people suffering from alcoholism, Surviving Hell is a gripping and thought-provoking story about one woman’s fight against her inner demons.
This book is really good and is written about an alcoholic woman in third person. This is why I'm not sure if what I was reading was inspired by a true story or was just a really compelling novel. Either way I enjoyed the book and recognized that the experiences depicted here are very realistic as far as psych wards and detox centers go. Also the depiction of Bipolar disorder.
I sat down to read this book and couldn't tear myself away from it! I was drawn into the story from the very first page. Being a recovering addict myself, her story resonated with me on many levels. It was a God thing which drew me to this book as I have been struggling with life lately. I was reminded of my early days in recovery and the tools I'd used to survive. Life isn't easy by a long shot, but some of us have a tendency to muddy the waters with our stinking thinking sometimes and make it worse. In the desperate times we now find ourselves in, I'm mighty grateful that folks like this author are brave and courageous enough to share their stories so transparently. I highly recommend this book to all who battle demons, and to those who don't understand what that battle is all about. God Bless you Sheree! Don't ever give up!!!
I know it took courage to write your story and share with us. The book flows so well allowing the reader to see the ugly side of alcoholism. Your perseverance is inspiring. I know many will benefit from your story, well done.
I loved this book! As a recovering alcoholic I could relate & like the main character I too was diagnosed with Bipolar 2 Disorder are stories were strikingly similar. It made for fantastic reading for me.
boring rubbish… I’ve stopped the book at 57% DONT WAIST YOUR TIME
Jesusbejesus, the book is so boring and filled with nothing! I wish I hadn’t brought the book. So over priced and if it was a free read I’d still finish at 57%
Wonderful book and related to a lot of what was written. I was sober for 22 years and started drinking again. Anyone who has a problem with alcohol should definitely read this book. It should help them get back on the right track!
I found the book very informative but interesting and sad all rolled into one. It could apply to many different issues we have as humans . We all fail sometimes
