Expect the unexpected when dealing with the devil.

An insatiable need to right the injustice drives Denida to consider Lucifer’s offer to keep the Darkness from targeting anybody else he loves. Armed with only a powerful ring and Holy daggers capable of killing gods, Denida vows to break into Heaven to rescue Lucifer’s son and lost love. Denida’s task gets complicated by demons who don’t want him to succeed, as well as the pervasive Darkness assailing multiple worlds.
Meanwhile, Nina’s quest for vengeance leads her into danger.
Will Denida and Nina survive their quests with their souls intact, or will the Darkness destroy them?
✨ A story with a mystery and suspense where the Initial pages may confuse you with Daniel, Dan and Denida. Who is dead and who is not. There are so many characters in this book but as you go through the pages, you will enjoy the reading.
✨Denida was in search of his son. He met Lucifer. Lucifer takes Denida to a well of memory ( an imaginary world) where Shaddai, Gabriel and Azal three kids were playing. They were the humans of the past. Azal and Shaddai belonged to high families and could visit the queen. The story revolves around heaven, earth and Hell. A tale that Lucifer wants to show rather than tell through a magic world to Denida.Lucifer who lives in hell was born in the world of Gods. There are three worlds and each world has a gate to enter. Denida’s son is kidnapped and they are finding it along with the Colonel who is also known as John in the other world. Denida, later meets many magical bodies. He meets Odin in chapter 3 who takes him to Valhalla on a 8 legged sleipnir. Denida found here clau amongst the bars who kidnapped his son.
✨There was an underworld of souls and a world of humans. What is the past of Denida and Nina? Who is Azal/ Lucifer and why is he in Hell? Why was Denny killed and where is he now? Will Nina be able to crack the mystery behind Maia and Michelle?
✨The story is well co-ordinated, I really liked the character of Lucifer and the description of different worlds which made the story unique and interesting. I am looking forward to read more books by the Author.
"I received this book as an ARC & I'm giving an honest review."
When the Darkness was unleashed on the world, a lot was at stake and a lot of people paid price. Denida & Nina were two such people. Both the parents are coping with their son's death differently. Nina is lashing out at everyone and everything while Denida is all set to make things right. For this, he has made a deal with Lucifer, the Devil himself. And we all know, that it never suffices well to make deals with the Devil.
Rejecting Destiny is the third book in The Underworlds series. It is a Science Fiction novel merged with elements of Fantasy and Dark Magic which makes the book really unique.
The cover of the book is really beautiful & the title sums up the events of the book in a poetic way. In the course of the book, both, Denida & Nina seek to cope with their sons loss and wish that somehow he could come back.
The book commences with a very distraught Denida who blames himself for his son's tragic death. Nina, his wife, blames him too. Soon enough, the book delves into flashbacks which detail the inception of the world as we know it. Those flashbacks were truly amazing as they provided some insight and also gave a new perspective to the reader.
Since the very beginning, the book managed to seize my attention. The language was fluid, comprehensive & enthralling. The writing seemed so real that I could practically imagine myself IN the novel. Since the moment I started reading, I knew I was going to be in too deep and I was! Even the thought of putting the book down was tortuous for me.
The emotions that the author brought out by his writing were so real that even in the very beginning, when Denida and Nina were lamenting the loss of their sons I couldn't help but shed a tear or two. This was the power of the author's words.
The characters seemed real and well crafted. The action sequences were really well penned. Despite the constant change of the setting of the story, the author managed to somehow keep the flow of the story intact, which is commendable. The book was a whirlwind of emotions and the climax was beyond words!
Over and all, this is a book for all the Sci-fi and Fantasy fans out there. I consider it a must read because this book does not only thread an excruciatingly beautiful story, but also because it is unique and one of a kind.
Like the second book in this series, Rejecting Destiny elegantly intertwines events in the present and tales from the past, but this book’s flashbacks carry even more weight, as they start from the beginning of time. God and Lucifer’s shared past is explored to give Denida lessons to carry with him in the present, as he relates new knowledge to his conceptions of the world to advance on his quest. This book elegantly balances content from both the past and present, showcasing Scheel’s ability to weave a compelling narrative and improve upon an already strong structure.
One enjoyable element of this book was revisiting locations not seen or explored since the first book. Every Underworld is covered again in detail, demonstrating how the entire world has evolved in the few canonical months that have passed. While Denida struggles to banish Darkness from all the worlds even more aggressively than he has in the past, the reader is obligated to wonder how the worlds have become so dark and how light can possibly triumph. In this story, Denida’s struggles truly materialize. From near death to facing deception and downplaying emotional turmoil, the tension in Denida’s story grips a reader and pulls them along in a well-paced, action-packed journey to make the world safe.
Throughout Denida’s quest, he thinks of his wife, Nina, who is still tangled in grief, which is neither underplayed nor overlooked. This story not only shows her suffering in a memorable scene where she drops to her knees wailing in pain, but fully explores the effect it has on her delicate psyche, as her thirst for revenge grows to a satisfying crescendo. Meanwhile, Lucifer’s unquenchable desire for his estranged love forces him to revel in a similar pain, which drives his aforementioned tale and the overall plot of the story forward. Intriguingly, both characters suffer through their agony without knowing of each other’s pain. Little does Nina know that Lucifer’s unfolding tale could’ve served as a powerful forewarning to her. This story’s strong focus on two grieving characters’ separate arcs opens the door for a world of what-if’s - could they have empathized with each other? Could they have helped each other? These questions become hauntingly powerful as the story progresses and the similarities reveal themselves, making both subplots just as interesting as Denida’s adventure through the Underworlds.
Overall, this story was a gem. It closes a lot of the questions raised by its two predecessors, while masterfully opening new doors and lines of inquiry. Every chapter in the story adds something new and thought-provoking. The return of old characters and locations was both touching and, at times, terrifying. As the book geared up for its final conflict, I had to ask myself how the protagonists would survive, which was a powerful drive through the entirety of this book’s second act. I could not put it down after the midpoint. This book is a must-read if you enjoyed the first two books. It will leave you wanting more.

The book shows tremendous development and growth of the characters. There are too many characters in the book, but each have their own importance in the story. As you deeper in the stories, you get attached to them.
The book is well paced, it will keep you hooked till the end. The writing style and choice of words is great, the language is comprehensive & enthralling. The beautiful narrations will make you feel that you are somehow present in that world. The emotions that the author brought out by his writing were so real. The cover of the book is very alluring , so is the title.
Rejecting destiny is a dark fantasy story. It is the third book of the series in the underworld’s series. The story begins with Denida and Nina grieving over their son’s murder. Both are in despair and deal with the issue differently. Denida has the power of the rind and has the Holy dagger that can kill gods. He makes a deal with Lucifer to go to Heaven and rescue Lucifer’s son in exchange for his own. Things don’t work out as he plans, so he is challenged on this quest to survive and deal with his loss.
My first impression of the book was the title. Rejecting Destiny? How can that be possible? Destiny is normally associated with something you cannot control and hence, cannot accept or reject. I was surprised and wanted to read the book for answers as well as to see how it was going to play out.
I immediately bonded with Denida and found him really enjoyable to read. The urban fantasy was filled with paranormal and occult fiction. The author beautifully places words describing the scenes and pulls you in the journey that is thought-provoking and stimulating at the same time.
I recommend this book to fantasy readers and those who enjoy dark natured material.
In book 3 Scheel does an excellent job of adding human emotional and motivational depth to gods, demons, humans, and everything in between. He revisits worlds and characters that were seen relatively briefly in previous entries, and we get to see the development of those locations, leaders, and societies over time and in response to the book's main events.
I especially enjoyed getting more insight into characters outside of Denida. His story continues to be compelling, and we get a deeper understanding of both his allies and his enemies.
Rejecting Destiny spans multiple timelines, worlds, and character viewpoints in a way that allows for a much more complete understanding of just about every aspects of books 1 and 2. Fans of the first two books will certainly enjoy the third.
I really enjoyed this book once it got going. The beginning was kind of slow to me but the action picked up quickly and once it did I barely put it down. We get a few surprising new main characters, several new villains, and everybody is fighting everybody! We also conclude a few things that were left open from the previous book. We do have some deaths but I won't be telling who. We also get a small glimpse of every underworld as with previous books including a new one being revealed, the Wild West is still my favorite though! This series seems to get better with every book!
This book was an absolute delight to read. The characters were well-developed and left a lasting impression, making it easy to connect with their journey. The storyline was engaging, and the pacing flowed seamlessly from start to finish. It’s definitely a novel I’ll be adding to my reread list.
