Wilkins a conservative soldier gets the shock of her life upon her first meeting with Johnson, an overly liberal journalist from San Antonio. Johnson is blunt, loud, and kind of cute but nevertheless, the exact opposite of quiet, rule-bound Wilkins. Johnson, who happens to be best friends with Wilkins' superior, Tech Sergeant Ian Morris, ends up falling head over heels for the modest sergeant, and upon learning the nature of Johnson's feelings, Wilkins tries her best to avoid the extraverted woman, knowing that if she gives in to the promised affection, her job title and reputation will be compromised. However, when Johnson is assigned to do an undercover story about life as an Air Force trainee and is asked to reside in the dormitories as a trainee, all chaos breaks lose. Wilkins ends up having to choose between love and her responsibility as a soldier, knowing that her choice may have a lasting effect on the rest of her life

I began writing, because I liked the idea of using the imagination to tell stories. At an early age, I published poetry, news articles, and jokes for magazines, but I always was partial to writing books. When I finally had the chance to do this, I wanted to write lesbian romance books that incorporated other parts of a woman’s life. Many of us have families, jobs, and non-romantic relationships that are a big part of our lives, and I thought that it would be more realistic to incorporate these features into the books that I wrote. Later, I noticed that the availability of LGBT books in bookstores and libraries was sparse. I wanted to write more than one genre of lesbian fiction, so that those that were into other types of books like action, adventure, crime, and mystery were able to find a book that suited their personality with characters that were like them.

DNF 45% in.

The soldier is supposedly conservative, but she hits up lesbian bars for sex, and fucks a fellow soldier, at work. Meanwhile she's worrying about how wet her panties are getting at the obstinate reporter (under cover) refusing her orders, who is supposed to be there undergoing training like the rest of the women.

Ridiculous.

By participating in a lesbian book bingo I won this title (among others). I listened to this book on audio. In Step is a short military romance about Training Instructor Amy Wilkins who meets Kel Johnson - a reporter - at a mutual friends party. After meeting at the party, Amy is extra surprised to discover that Kel Johnson is being added to her new group of trainee's.

The book is fast-paced and well narrated. For a novella it doe's a pretty good job in the character-building department. Both Amy and Kel are likeable characters. Although Kel could have done a better job acting and be a bit less rebellious at the start off training, haha. I enjoyed listening to this story, but the last 30 seconds of the book didn't have to occur if I could say so... I'm a happily ever after fan an not a cheerer for an open ending...

If you have an audible account and want to listen to this book, first weigh your options. You can buy it for $ 6,95 on Amazon or for one credit when a member of Audible (knowing one credit is $ 14,95, I would choose to buy it separately).

Needs editing

Needs a lot of editing. Story was ok but rushed in places. The action was short and there was no real tension build up. Ends on cliff hanger, do not know if next book is coming out

Very good

Suspense and adventure with a lot of feelings and regulations about the army. The only negative is the end is very abrupt without another book of continuation.

Where is the ending?

The story was entertaining and the characters were complex and real! But the story didn't end and I can't find the next book that finishes the story!

This is a F/F story. This book was a ying and yang story. I loved the characters and the storyline. I can't wait to see what happens next.

I really enjoyed listening to this well written little book. Sometimes books like this focus solely on the sex, and the story line and characters suck. Not the case here. I really enjoyed the story. You could remove all of the sex and the book would still have a great story line. The sex is just the icing on the cake. I also the the narrator did an excellent job. Defiantly a great little book!

This book is very gritty. It had me gripped from the very beginning. Lots going on in this non stop action packed book. Great narration from Emmalyn.

too vague

Way too many grammar errors & a clunky ending for this to capture my interest any further. Too bad because the premise is good—just not well executed.

Too many events made this book unbelievable. And since it's not based in a complete fantasy world, some things needed to feel real. This military setup was not that.
