For years I've been planning my escape. Preparing for the day when I could leave home and never look back. But when the moment came, it didn't happen like I had planned. I didn't pack up my car and drive away, watching my old life disappear in the rearview mirror like I had always envisioned I would. Instead, I ran—quite literally—as fast and far as my feet would take me. I didn't know where I was going, only that I had to get away. And that's when he found me… Titus Driscoll. He was unlike anyone I had ever met before. A man who lived by his own code. Who answered to no one but himself. He didn't care where I came from or why I was running. He didn't care that my father was a powerful politician that would stop at nothing to bring me home. Once he had me, I was his.
Follow Me Down is a complete STANDALONE Contemporary Romance.
Melissa Toppen is a USA Today Bestselling Author who specializes in New Adult and Contemporary Romance. She is a lover of books and enjoys nothing more than losing herself in a good novel. She has a soft spot for romance and focuses her writing in that direction; writing what she loves to read.
Fallon has been trapped in a gilded cage, a chess piece used by her father to further his political aspirations. Having finished high school, she's trying to work out a way of escaping her father and his world, but so far no luck. When she finds herself running from unwanted advances at a party, she finds herself helped by a stranger on a bike – Titus and finds a way out that she never expected.
Having left his old life behind Titus is happy with where and who is, unexpectedly drawn to Fallon, he finds himself unable to stay away and dreading the day she decides to leave. For Fallon with Titus and his friend she has found a sense of home and belonging that she's never had before, but her father won't let her just let her go and is more than willing to threaten Titus to get her back where he wants her.
Things occur over a short period a week or so. This read was much lighter in tone and mood than I was expecting, but it made for an easy one time read , even if it wasn't the tantalising little morsel I was hoping for.
This was a mediocre book for me, something between 2 and 2,5 stars but definitely not as good as 3.
It has a very simple story and everything that happens is easily predicted beforehand. I was bored after a certain point knowing where it is leading me.
The hero is likable but I am not sure about the heroine. She keeps secrets from him for a long time and I didn't like that.
Also, the heroine is too young - just out of high school and at the age of 18, she meets a tough and a very experienced guy who is 28 years old and she has her happily ever after with him. At least she wasn't a virgin but she had only one or two bad experiences, nothing more. I don't feel pleased when the matching of couples is like that. It bothered me that she was too young and didn't experience much of anything before she tied herself to this guy. Yeah, the guy was awesome but still, she was too young for him.
They like each other as soon as they meet and they become a couple too soon and I didn't feel it. I didn't feel their passion or love. Neither their chemistry or passion was good enough for me to feel it. The kissing & sex scenes were short and boring.
There was this guy who wanted to rape her at the beginning of the book.
All in all, nothing in the book satisfied me, nothing was good enough.

DNF@21% This one is not for me. H is 28 and h is 18 ok I love age gaps but h is ridiculous. She goes from one situation with a guy and escapes to end up with another guy she doesn't know and plans to stay for a while. She's been planning to get away from her politician father. Sorry I can't with this nonsense.
Follow Me Down is the latest novel from Melissa Toppen. This was an insta-connection romance that caught my interest from the start. The story was a sweet read with little angst, some twists and turns and fun characters. Titus arrives on this motorcycle to save Fallon, the damsel in distress, and their story begins from there. They had wonderful chemistry, hott scenes and a happy ending. I loved Linc, Titus best friend. As a secondary characters he brought so much to the story and I would love his book. Follow Me Down was a good read and I would recommend it to romance lovers looking for an easy read.
I've read a few books from this author and enjoyed them, so I look forward to a new release from her! I knew about this book releasing and the synopsis sounded like my kind of read, so I waited for it to release, grabbed a copy, and read it once I had some free time! After reading, I can say that I enjoyed this book! the plot developed at a nice pace and it kept me wanting to read on and find out what was going to happen next! I also loved that there was a lot of romance between the two main characters and the way the romance developed! It allowed for quite a few seriously hot scenes as well! There was also a bit of action and suspense in the plot, but there wasn't as much as I was expecting! It did play a part in the plot, but I thought that it was going to be bigger or play a role for longer than it did! I enjoyed it though! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Fallon was the main female character, and I felt for her in this book because she came from a family that were well known and she had to act a certain way and was told how to dress! Things changed in this book and she was free to do what she wanted and decided who she spent time with! I liked Fallon in this book and I felt like she knew what she wanted and she wanted to make her own choices! I loved that she stood up for herself as well! Titus was the main male character and love interest of Fallon! Titus was seriously hot in this book and quite dark and broody! Titus also tried to stay away from Fallon, especially when it came to starting a romantic relationship with her, but she soon got under his skin! I loved Titus with Fallon! He was protective of her and it was easy to see that he had feelings for her! He also changed when he was with her and he smiled more and seemed happier! This book was written from both Fallon and Titus' point of view, which was a nice surprise! The synopsis gives the impression that it's only going to be written from the female character's point of view, so I'm really happy that Titus's point of view was included as well! It helped me connect and understand both characters more and see their feelings for each other grow! It allowed for more things to happen in the plot as well, which made sense because Fallon and Titus did spend some time apart and they did go through some situations on their own! I can also completely understand why this book is a standalone! Everything in the plot was wrapped up and all the questions raised were answered! The ending was also beautiful and summed up the characters story beautifully! I loved it a lot! I now can't wait to see what this author is going to release next! I'm definitely looking forward to her next release and I can't wait to read her other books that I haven't read yet! I also love the cover for this book a lot! It actually makes more sense now I've read the book because it represents a scene from the book brilliantly! It would draw me to the book as well if I didn't already know the author's name!
I always enjoy this author work, and this book was no exception!! There were so many twists and turns, some truly laugh out loud moments, and the chemistry & love between Titus and Fallon is off the charts!!
Fallon reminded me of a bird in a gidled cage, only paraded around whenever her politician father wants. She was always expected to be perfect, and the older she gets, the more she wants to leave this life and never come back. After an event at a party, she has even more reasons to want to flee, she just never expected a stranger to save her in more ways than one.
Titus is a tattooed 'bad' boy with a heart of gold. After nearly running down Fallon, he's surprised at his initial reaction to her. Titus has had a hard life himself and doesn't trust easy, but Fallon gets passed all of his defenses (which annoyed me to know end that she didn't come clean to who she was once they started to fall in love.) After finding out who Fallon is, will Titus be able to keep her? Or will it be too late?
I absolutely adore this story!! It was so full of love and laughs, and I can't wait for Link and Ellen's book!!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
I almost DNF'ed this, but I paid $5 so I hung in there and skimmed got through it.
1. Nothing about this plot was remotely new or exciting. It was a serious case of "this has all been done and it will all be done again". Politicians daughter hates her life, almost gets raped in the woods at a party, runs into Hero and he whisks her away to his life in the woods where they promptly fall madly in love.
2. Didn't particularly care for the age gap. I didn't see why she had to be 18? Why couldn't she have been upped to 22/23? Like she could have just graduated college and her dad expects her to fall in line and be a lawyer like him. See? No need to have a 10 year age gap with a barely legal girl.
3. Insta love. Ughhhhhhhhh.
4. The writing was mediocre-had a lot of my pet peeves in writing like 'I couldn't help but...." which drives me up a wall.
Fallon reminds me of a caged bird. She's kept under her fathers' strict thumb and unable to be herself. She goes with a "friend" to a party that changes her attitude and life.
On the run, she runs into a man who doesn't know it yet but has found his pea in a pod. Titus can't leave her but he doesn't need complications. Too bad the second they met, you knew this bird and biker are on a course for a life together.
Sure it isn't easy when the past comes back and they learn just how much control other people had over them. Either way they go by bike or flight, the bird finds her wings and the biker finds his purpose to protect her.
I love this journey of finding oneself together. They might have been moving quick but it didn't feel rushed. An absolute pleasure to read and great characters. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntary review.
If you love those instant connection romances, fighting free to from family ties then you will just love Follow Me Down. I couldn't get enough of this one. You are pulled right in by Titus and Fallon. Titus walked away from his high profile family and never looked back. He is strength, compassion and knows his way around bikes. Fallon is tired of her father controlling everything in her life. She seeks her own way and once she stumbles upon Titus there is no looking back. Fallon has this artistic nature that Titus helps build up and support her to follow her dreams. There is so much between Fallon and Titus then they realize. There is such a connection and pull that you will just love. I'm so in love with Fallon and Titus. I love what Melissa Toppen brings to the pages. She just gives you such feels with every book she writes. You really need to read this fantastic love story today.
Fallon is the daughter of a powerful man who has always known what has been expected of her but as much as she tries to conform it only makes the decision to forge her own path that much easier.
When her evening takes a turn and she finds herself in a dire situation fate brings Titan into her life. Titan has first hand experience about leaving the life you find yourself in and don’t want. He now has a job he likes as well as loyal friends so when Fallon needs help he can’t just walk away.
Two people who meet under the most unlikely of circumstances are kindred souls whose hearts beat for each other. Their journey isn’t without its complications but there is no doubting that they are so much stronger together than apart.
This book is one of those books that you love from start to finish. Fallon is trying to escape the life that her father has made for her and his control on her when she stumbles upon Titus, a little bit older, and a lot sexy, broody, bad biker boy. Their connection is instant and super hot, and I think this story is about finding your family, not necessarily the family you were born with.
I love Fallon and her desire to be her own person despite the life that’s been handed to her, and Titus is so broody and hot. Melissa Toppen gives you a story you’ll love, rolled up with romance, drama, and finding your way.
Sort of quick read with two people that had similar upbringing and issues regardless of their age gap but they made it work. Titus literally rescued Fallon from a bad situation. She had no idea who the hot stranger on the motorcycle was and he didn’t know who this beautiful girl was. It was a bit slow build but then it moved pretty quickly. His best friend added to the banter of this story and Titus sister was actually pretty good too. Being with Titus thought Fallon how to have a backbone which came in handy when dealing with her manipulative father. Not a bad story.
This is an absolutely fantastic story that shows you what it’s like to break free of controlling people in your life and find that one person who you fall in love with for the first time. Fallon and Titus what a perfect couple. I loved their easy connection which left them to pursue what they felt for one another. I loved all the twists and turns within these pages, and the laugh out loud moments, that truly had me giggling. AND: I need more Link! Secondary character but definitely must have his own story.
I really enjoyed reading this from the get-go. its simply written yet still delivers the connection and chemistry between Fallon and Titus. overall if your looking for a lightweight drama in romance, this book suits you well.👍
This book was awesome! I was hooked from the very first page and I couldn’t put it down! This book is a must read! I can’t wait for Melissa’s other readers to get their hands on this book!
I absolutely fell in love with this book from the first chapter, the story was so well written I could just picture the whole thing coming to pass. The characters and the plot caught me up in their world from the start. There were moments it felt like my heart stopped and I had to take a breath, then moments where it beat so fast with love and heat.
Fallon is a real fighter; she got herself out of a scrape from the minute I met her and continued to grow in strength throughout the pages. I loved the way her personality just grew bolder and stronger. Titus is all gruff and surly to start with but quickly turned into my ideal man. I loved how he changes and gets softer and so swoony. I really like his best friend, Link and hope he gets a story.
From the first chapter to the last page in the epilogue, I devoured every beautiful word. This is a must-read.
Fallon is just a girl ready to get away. Having lived a life full of control and under a microscope, she never thought she would get away or even knew how to leave.
Titan is a guy brought up in a wealthy family that he had no intentions of being associated with. When he was old enough, he walked away with his best friend, and never looked back. He lives a happy life, flying under the radar, fixing up motorcycles, and spending time with his hilarious best friend, Link.
How both Fallon and Titan find each other is completely by fate, saving each other was meant to be. Fallon quickly learns even though Titan has a dark and rough edge to him, that he was born into the exact same life style she is trying to escape from. She has lived under the strict control of her famous Politician Father. He has dictated her entire life down to the clothes she wears, where she will attend college, and the career she will have. Titan understands her need to escape.
One night she is running away from a scary situation with nothing but a swimsuit and a shear cover, no shoes, nothing else. She has no idea where she is or where she is going. She just keeps running. Finally she comes to a road, and literally runs into Titan. Titan can see the fear in her eyes, and he cannot leave her alone in the middle of nowhere. Not wanting any complications, he takes her home with him for the night with plans of returning her to wherever she came from the next morning. He quickly discovers she is running from something even bigger than that night, and feels the need to protect her.
After spending time with Titan and his best friend, Link, Fallon finally has hope that she will be able to escape all the control and start a fresh life with Titan. Their journey is not easy, and has lots of bumps in the road. However, they are ready to fight whatever and whoever to be together.
Follow Me Down is the perfect book to read if you love your romance sprinkled with insta-attraction, damsels in distress, knights on shining motorcycles, fun characters, passion-filled purpose, and every page meant to keep you reading and enjoying the ride.
Melissa Toppen has long been one of my favorite authors delivering book after book of amazing words that make you smile, cry, and believe in happily ever afters. Follow Me Down didn't make me me cry, but I did smile and laugh as well as swoon.
Titus became a protective, love-struck hero from the minute he rescued Fallon. His roommate, Link, stole the show more than once with his hilarious sarcasm, and he loved to point out Titus' fall into the depths of love any chance he got. I really loved their banter and their strong friendship. Link definitely has a story to be told and I hope the author has plans to bring it to fruition.
Fallon is a young woman with dreams of her own, but she has never had the support of anyone. Breaking away from her overbearing father was her plan but it happened quickly and unexpectedly. Even so, seeing how Titus managed to accomplish his own brand of freedom made her believe that maybe she could as well.
Fallon and Titus are lovers wrapped up in their own little bubble until the wrath of Fallon's father yanks them back into their nightmarish reality.
Follow Me Down was a good read for me. Not too much angst and their nightmare was short-lived. I think I expected more angst to come from the actions of Fallon's vendictive father, but that was not to be. Mostly, this book is filled with the stuff that dreams are made of, dreams that come true, and left me feeling satisfied and happy in the end.
I really enjoyed reading about Fallon & Titus’s story and their journey to find love. Fate arrives on a motorcycle when Fallon is running from danger in the middle of the night. She hops on the back of Titus Driscoll’s bike and he takes her away from the danger and little does she know it will be a new beginning and a new family. Titus who is rough & gruff is very reluctant to get to know her in the beginning. But the attraction is there. Fallon notices right away before she even took off with in the night that he was very attractive & masculine. Fallon meets Titus’s roommate & best friend Link. He becomes a friend to Fallon and is a nice friendly balance when Titus wants to be stand offish & broody. Eventually Fallon and Titus began to share things about each other and find their lives are very similar. They both come from very prominent & rich families and grew up unhappy and couldn’t wait to leave that life. Their friendship grows and they become lovers and more throughout the story. But just as they are becoming more in love & happy; the “other shoe drops”. This book has some angst & hurt. There’s also humor - I really liked the pond scene. And lots of sexy times! I really liked that Fallon became stronger throughout the story and got her chance to stand up to those that tried to tear her down. Melissa gives us all the feels in this story and Fallon & Titus get their HEA 🥰 Enjoyed 😊 Great Read!
Fallon has grown up in a protected cage alone and for show. She is there to be an accessory for her father's career. But when she gets into a situation, she finds herself running from her life and into the arms of a stranger that she feels an immediate connection to. Is that possible that a stranger can save her? But will Titus feel the same? Will Fallon's father find her and let her go? When Fallon comes into her own, it is amazing to follow her journey!!
Titus had a different upbringing and one that he could not wait to get away from, but at what cost to him and his family!! But when the chance presented itself, he left and never looked back. He took his best friend Link with him and still keeps in contact with his sister, Ellen. When Fallon turns his life upside down, will he be able to survive? When he finally realizes that he can't and doesn't want to live without Fallon in his life, will it be too late?
This story is such a heartwarming good luck story!!! Fallon and Titus have a connection that is immediate and one that cannot be destroyed. They share wonderful chemistry and so much more, it is full of love, lust, romance, tragedy and a happy ending!!! What about Link and Ellen?!?! I can't wait for more from this author!!! I received an ARC of this book from the author.
Love, Love, LOVE This Book! From the tatted up, dirty talking, swoony bad boy Titus to the brilliant bird in a gilded cage Fallon, this story grips and doesn't let go. Both of these characters have experienced more of the seamy underbelly of life than they should have at their ages. Both have been left with very few people they could call friend, and almost no one they can actually trust. But both Titus and Fallon are smart, independent, and willing to do whatever they have to do to be their own individuals.
I loved so much of the undercurrent in this tale: a woman who wouldn't give up, who kept fighting even when it wasn't easy, and who never lost her dreams; and a man who would not turn his back on his morals, who had learned the value of hearing a person, and was willing to go all in. Both of these characters showed brilliant growth as they faced heavy trials.
This story is positively full of the good stuff. All the feels are there, the characters are beautiful, and the plot has the reader wondering, waiting, hoping... The author has cast a spell-binding tale. I wish I were as in love with the narrator, who I found to be okay but not as good as the story deserved. At times I had to tune out her unusual syntax so that it wouldn't ruin my enjoyment of such a fabulous novel. I'm glad I did, because I fell in love with Titus and Fallon.
Another engaging and great story from Melissa Toppen! I wasn't quite prepared for the action that greeted me as soon as I started, and the momentum kept building from the first page. Having never been raised like Fallon, I simply can't fathom how some parents treat their families and excuse the type of behavior that is shown in this story (if you've read the book, you'll know the behavior I'm speaking of). The only thing that kind of put me off with this story is how young Fallon is; I would have liked for her to be a bit older, maybe have experienced a bit more life by the time she's met Titus.
I liked the dynamic between Titus, Fallon and Link; Link is like the younger brother who can antagonize the bejeesus out of you yet you still love and embrace him because he's got such a good heart. Despite the difference in age, Titus and Fallon have grown up in somewhat similar circumstances when it comes to their respective families. I have to applaud Fallon though, it took her a bit to get herself together, but when she finally decided to take control of her life, she did it in a great way. Of course there were still more hurdles and obstacles and a couple of "oh snap" moments, but everything worked out like it was supposed to for Titus and Fallon.
Its been a minute since I've read a good comingofagewannabangastranger books. You know the ones where the hero/heroines need to escape but 9 times out 10 either don't realize it or don't know how they are going to make it happen? The ones that sizzle your kindle pages with the fiery passion neither knew they possessed? The ones where they are suddenly so consumed with one another they forgot there was a shoe about to drop? Follow Me Down delivered in every which way. I was immediately drawn into Fallons story and craved the knowledge of how Titus came to be who he is. "I feel like I cant get close enough. I want to feel him everywhere." What begins as such an intense meeting turns into so much more. I was just getting comfortable when I remembered clever Melissa Toppen was only distracting me, making me forget why I was there in the first place. While the suspense is mild compared to some, I was on pins and needles waiting to see how it was all going to play out. It helped having Link bring some humor and lightheartedness to the pages. Im hoping he gets his own story soon so I can make sure he gets his own HEA (hint hint). All in all I thoroughly enjoyed FMD and cant wait to delve back into this world.
Fallon was raised to be the perfect daughter, the proper trophy by her father's side. She was a show piece for him and nothing more. She only knew this life and thought it would never change, but that all changed in one moment and the next thing Fallon knew she was on the run...for her life.
That is when she meets Titus. Titus's life was very different than Fallon's. His life was one that he could not get away from quick enough and when the chance came along he grabbed it and ran. Titus still had a connection to his sister, and his best friend Link went with him, but his path was forward and he was never looking back.
When Titus meets Fallon though, she immediately is a force in his life and he knows it. The connection is undeniable, but he tries....for as long as he is able to.
Follow Me Down is an amazing story of love and chance and romance and of course some lust. The characters are all well developed, even the secondary characters and you truly feel for Fallon and Titus and want to see them work because the connection leaps off the page as you and you can't help but route for them the whole book.
This novel was totally outside the box and totally brutal when you think of outstanding love stories! It shattered others in completely different ways. It was that good and so much more!!! You will be so enthralled with this book and be unable to put it down. This is why Melissa is in my top 5 favorite authors!
The chemistry between Titus and Fallon is off the charts goodness! From the moment they met, their lives and souls were destined. There is no other way to put it. Between the similarities and the chemistry, there is no way these two souls were no a match. Regardless of other people or situations that might plague them or their relationship, these two were bound to meet in some way. However, not all things are forthcoming and not all families are the same. Yet, when true, Earth shattering love is involved, us readers are in for a beautiful awakening!
Wow! What an amazing read! Loved every page of Fallon and Titus story. Flawlessly written and heartfelt. Their story will take you on an emotional journey like no other. A must read.
Fallon has been planning on running away from her life for a long time but circumstances caused her to run literally. When Titus sees her run onto the road barefoot with torn clothes he knows she needs help. Titus and Link open their home to Fallon with no questions asked and that is just what she needs to figure out her next step. Can Fallon find her way free from her father’s control or will she lose Titus forever?
It took me a little bit to warm up to Titus but once I did I was totally hooked. After learning his story it was easy to see why he was the way he was. I wasn’t sure if Fallon war truly strong enough to stand up for herself but when pushed she shows her inner strength. Age gap is not my favorite trope but honestly it wasn’t really noticeable except in the very beginning of the book. I am a new reader to Melissa Toppen and look forward to more of her books. I hope that she considers writing Link’s story in the future.
This book was a great read. I have read a few other books by Melissa and enjoyed them. This one was no exception. I was sucked in right from the start. Fallon has always wanted to leave she just never pictured doing it like this. Titus has no clue who this girl is. She just ran onto the road he was riding down. In fact, he almost hit her. But he can’t deny the look on her face. She needs help and he is going to help her. Neither of them could have imagined the attraction they have for each other and its not just physical either. Titus opens up a little to her, but Fallon doesn’t. She just wants to be free for a little bit, for as long as she can. How will Titus react when he learns who she is? These characters are great. Titus and Fallon save each other. They bond over their similar experiences with their families. Their relationship isn’t without its bumps in the road. Outside forces don’t want them together. I would love to read more about these characters. Great job Melissa.
Fallon's father is the governor, so he's very good at controlling everything about her life. She was planning to go on the run to get away, but she didn't realize that she would be quite literally on the run barefoot when Titus finds her. He rescues her, though he's got some baggage which had him acting a bit harsh at first, but there's so much more to him than meets the eye. As they get to know each other, she's learning how to stand up for herself thankfully because I wasn't sure that she would be able to, however, I'm so glad she developed into a heroine that I could get behind because for a minute, she frustrated me to no end. Oh, and Titus just got better & better in my eyes as well, along with his friend, Link, who was a bonus. So, since we know that Fallon's father could come looking for her, will she be able to stand up for herself?! And how will things play out with Titus?! Hit those one click buttons to find out! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
