Grif’s always followed the one rule in the high stakes business of heists: never fall for your mark. At least, until he meets Danilo Torres...
Grif Blackmore's team of thieves, the Outlaws, take down wicked corporations and nab fantastic paydays. However, when their latest heist fails, they end up in debt to the mafia, which puts the pressure on for their next job targeting Torres Industries to go off without a hitch.
There's one problem. The CEO of Torres Industries, Danilo Torres, happens to not only be dead sexy but unaware of his company's corruption. When the sparks flare between Grif and Danilo, Grif can't help but fall for his mark.
Grif is left with a decision to make. Is he willing to throw it all away for the man who's caught his interest or is there a chance to play Robin Hood without losing it all?
Katherine McIntyre is a feisty chick with a big attitude despite her short stature. She writes stories featuring snarky women, ragtag crews, and men with bad attitudes—high chance for a passionate speech thrown into the mix. As a genderqueer geek who’s always stepped to her own beat, she’s made it her mission to write stories that represent the broad spectrum of people out there. Easily distracted by cats and sugar.
Blame it on my brain-fog, but this didn't make any sense to me. It was
- inconclusive (why tease the reader, but not deliver any answers???)
- repetive (I don't need to be told multiple times which brand of suits these guys were wearing or what they smelled like)
- and the constant comparing of people's looks with the City of Chicago was simply... weird. Unsteadiness flickered in his eyes like the dim, trembling lights of the L.
Also, the MCs weren't overly likeable and the bunch of "Outlaws" was more like a hoard of friggin' amateurs if you ask me. *shrugs*
This is my first time reading Ms McIntyre's work. I enjoyed her writing style, lighthearted humor and an array of likable characters. I liked Grif and Danilo's chemistry and how well they meshed together outside of bedroom. The best part was that the author brought them to the point where both men felt deeply enough to continue explore what's between them. No insta love here, thank goodness. Great choice! It's still a wonderful HEA as much as one can have an HEA with a thief who tried to steal from you, lol, but heart wants what it wants, and that is for Dan and Grief to be together.
The heist itself as well as the prep to it was fun to read. I think the author wrote the action scenes well. The secondary characters added snark and a bit of humor to serious interactions between the MCs. I wish there was more fallout for the bad guys, it was a bit muted for my taste. I really hoped for some angst from Dan's family. There was awesome potential for that, but the author decided to omit it. Overall, this was a steamy, fast paced, low angst sort of retelling of Robinhood story but with hackers, power suits and a little bit of nerdiness. Copy received for my honest and unbiased review.
This is a new to me author...this one had me from the title. I love a good romance story but add in a good action sub-plot and a dash of mystery and I’m all in. I love the concept of the Outlaws and what they as a group stand for. Grif is a character with many layers but is the ultimate bad boy. Dan on the other hand is a bit more of a traditional character that balances Grif. I liked the evolution of Dan’s character as the book progressed and the two ended up as a power couple. The action in this one was particularly well written especially at the peak of the adventure.
Looking for a fun, clever and action-filled read with an eclectic but uber sexy cast of characters a la Leverage style? Then, Midnight Heist is right up your alley. I absolutely loved our first heist with the Outlaws and hope they'll be many more. All the characters are smart, sassy and best of all make an outstanding found family. Grif, the leader, definitely has his hands full--in more ways than one--when he meets Dan. "Because the mere thought of you a moment with you has me breaking all my rules." I loved the byplay between these two characters, their smoking hot chemistry, their struggles and searches for the right path and how they ultimately decided to trust in their own intuitions. They locked on and arrowed their way into my heart. I will forever more consider myself an outlaw.
good story... interesting plot with a twist on robin hood.. it was a lot of fun to read and sexy and i enjoyed the characters and their personalities. it was wonderful
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.
Grif needs to infiltrate Dan Torres' company to ruin it. But one look at Dan and Grif knows he's all kinds of innocent, but equally dangerous. Dan knows there's something bad going on in his company, now he's taken over from his father, but the Board is all old men stuck with old opinions and old ways. When Dan finds out what Grif has planned, he sees it as a perfect way to get what he wants. But what happens after?
So! Ms McIntyre is a firm favourite with me, her paranormal books have been mostly 4 and 5 stars but I didn't much care for her Discord series. This one, though??
Brilliant! It really does hit THAT spot, you know? The one that you don't know needs hitting but when it does, it goes BOOM and you start to lose track of the time and the next thing you know, you've done sod all this afternoon but read a brilliant book!
The attraction between Grif and Dan is instant and powerful and burns bright and so freaking hawt throughout the book. They both they should NOT be doing this, but neither can stay away. They KNOW that this will lead them down a dangerous and, quite probably, deadly path but both of them are prepared to risk it. And they DO risk it, once it all comes out and everyone knows what's going on.
It's quite clear who the bad guy is at the company, what's not so clear is how far up it goes, how far it's spread and who else is involved. It's STILL not clear, to be honest!
I loved the team of Outlaws! Scarlet, especially. Sometimes, Scarlet is a she, and sometimes Scarlet is a he. I got a little confused at first, and thought it a typo, but when it happens a couple of times, I figured that's just Scarlet, you know? I loved how Dan and Leo, his best friend, slot so beautifully into the team. And maybe, just maybe, there are a few clues to whose story might be next. These guys are deadly, and they make no apologises for that, but what they do is get the bad guys and they do it the best way they how, from the inside out. Anyone who gets in their way, well, silly of them really!
I found myself waiting for the L word. I kept thinking, its-a-coming, any mintue now, and it doesn't and I LOVED that it doesn't! Grif and Dan aren't really the lovey-dovey sort. Oh, there is love here, it's quite clear from the things they feel for each other, don't get me wrong, but it's not VOICED and I think when they DO voice that word, its gonna be spectacular!
Fabulous start to this series, and to Ms McIntyre's MM path. Keep em coming!
This book reminded me of leverage but better Dan and Grif were perfect for each other. The two MCs had great chemistry right off the bat. This book had alot of action and it was fast-paced. Hopefully, there will be a book two loved the secondary characters like Scarlet and Leo and I would love to explore them more.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book didn’t work for me from chapter one and never gained any sort of momentum to make this a good read for me. The book opens as we meet Grif and he and his group, the Outlaws, are on their next heist. The heist goes bad and now the group is indebted to the mafia. No worries though. One more job and everything will be fine and Grif doesn’t appear too worried as he hangs up on the mob boss. The group likes to think of themselves as a modern day “Robin Hood” outfit, stealing from the corrupt rich to give to the poor, but we never do see how the group helps others. Their next mark is the company Dan just took over from his father.
It’s a romantic suspense with great action and great romance. As the heist/investigation plays out, I really found myself on the edge of my seat. That ending is so satisfying!
With its modern day Robinhood feel, I thoroughly enjoyed Midnight Heist by Katherine McIntyre. It pairs a law-abiding uptight office executive with his complete opposite, a disobedient rough and tough bad boy, but there is a twist. The wayward law breaker and his band of “Outlaws” take down corrupt corporations and give their spoils to those who suffer under the unscrupulous thumb of these corporate mongrels.
Grif Blackmore (aka Greg Locksley) has lost so much due to the corruption that corporate executives perpetrate on the weak as a means of increasing their own wealth. As a result, he has built a team of thieves, his family of sorts, dubbed the Outlaws. He keeps his crew close and trusts only them. When one of their jobs goes sideways, they become indebted to the mafia and Grif shoulders the guilt for the tenuous position this puts the team in. They need their next job, bringing down Torres Industries, to clear them of their debt.
Danilo (Dan) Torres knows there is something amiss with the financial standing of Torres Industries but just can’t seem to locate the discrepancy. Having recently taken over as CEO when his father went into retirement, Dan envisions clearing out the corruption and modernizing his company. He strives to tear apart the long history of Torres Industries being made of the good ole boys.
When Grif meets Dan (as Greg Locksley) there is an instantaneous connection that violates the rule of never falling for your mark. Yet, Dan penetrates Grif’s carefully constructed barriers and Grif provides Dan with the ability to let go of his control. Each man fulfills a part of the other that makes them complete. Grif knows he is playing with fire and when the jig is up, and Greg is exposed as a fraud, Dan can only feel a profound sense of gut-wrenching betrayal and loss.
The plot thickens when Dan and Grif team up. Grif needs to get the mafia off his back and Dan needs to expose the corruption within the walls of his company. Dan can hardly believe that he is going to aid with bringing his family legacy to its knees, but the alternative is just as inconceivable to him. Together they plot to pull off the perfect heist.
The Outlaws team up with Dan and his best friend Leo, who runs Torres’ IT department, and the complete cast mesh together seamlessly with a sense of comradery that isn’t overshadowed by the suspense and tension, but enhanced by their banter and common goal. The friendship shared by the Outlaws extends effortlessly to Dan and Leo once the initial weariness evaporates.
In parallel to the heist, is the budding romance that forms between Grif and Dan. What begins as an instant connection driven by pure lust and intense passion, evolves into love that builds at a more gradual pace, sneaking up on both Grif and Dan. This is partly because of Grif’s walls and Dan’s perception that his family will not approve of a same sex partnership. But, the right partnership, as is the case here, has a way of breaking down these barriers and shining through.
Midnight Heist, the first in the Outlaws series, is simply a riveting adventure combined with unquestionable love. There is mystery, drama, suspense, action and angst rolled into a fast-paced edge of your seat thrill ride that leaves you both satisfied and wanting more at the same time.
Due to a family tragedy, Grif Blackmore has one superstition: “no jobs on Tuesday”. He’s a modern day Robin Hood, of sorts, he steels from big corrupt corporations and gives back to the people that are harmed or needy. His Outlaws consist of: John, Alanna, Tuck and Scarlett that have some very unique expertise. With one mistake made and a botched job Grif now owes a debt to mafia boss, Nevarra. As time is running out, Grif has a plan to take down the corrupt Torres Industries and his mark Danilo Torres.
Danilo Torres, CEO of Torres Industries is trying to find discrepancies in the financial statements. Dan is stuck in a position he never wanted but to keep connected to his family he obeyed his fathers demands. Dan wanted only to complete his degree and seek a career as a mechanical engineer. He knows his older sister, Vanessa was the rightful person to be CEO. Dan works hard to try and find the financial discrepancies and get the company back on track but he’s also fighting the older board members and more. Dan has a best friend in Leo, who runs the IT department and the only other person he can trust besides his sister Vanessa.
When Dan decides to interview new prospects he meets Greg Locksley of Neo-National and things become interesting and spicy. But everything starts to back fire on Dan, his sister, the board and blackmail. When Leo investigates Neo-National it can’t get any worse and Dan needs to make some difficult decisions.
Grif is carrying a load of trouble on his shoulders: Nevarra and longtime rivals Doncaster and Kirklees. Grif will do anything to protect the Outlaws. If he can’t pull this new plan off in time, he and the Outlaws will have to go underground because he will not risk their lives for anything or anyone.
Katherine McIntyre is a new author for me and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed. “Midnight Heist” is loaded with tension, suspense, fast paced, gritty action galore and humor. The plot is very intricate and it’s all down to timing, and the Robin Hood theme was very creative.
Dan and Grif were really great characters. For some reason they were both a breath of fresh air. This is by no means “insta-love” but the author gives just the right amount of a connection between the two, that it’s not overly done. The secondary characters are all really interesting: Alanna, John, Tuck, Scarlett and Leo. Leo and Scarlett are outstanding and I can’t wait to see what the author has planned for them.
All I can say is “Midnight Heist” has really good potential for the start of a new series. I’m hooked and have my eye out for the next “Outlaws” installment!
He finally found something worth keeping.... by and1515
There are some people who believe whole-heartedly in superstitions while others think it nothing but a bunch hooey, bunkum, and balderdash. His life revolved around the organization he ran and some times even bleed for but hey that came with the territory. However no one paid much attention to him and his qwerks but now they were in a world of hurt and they needed to cover their debts. It been a year since he first sat in his father's big chair yet he hadn't made much head way in three hundred sixty five days. He knew something wasn't on the up and up but honestly Dan couldn't put his finger on the problems. There was nothing like a working luncheon over crispy bacon and eggs while planning there latest operation. Being the big boss meant he could assign himself roles he felt deserved his attention even if others didn't like it. Somethings are better left to chance especially when you want one thing but you know you should do the complete opposite. Observation was part of his job and it also worked well in other areas of life. He never gave him the opportunity to turn him down when he'd told Dan where to meet him and some how he was quite sure he wouldn't. He'd pegged him on so many levels especially the fact that man knew how to totally ruin a decent cup of Joe. Grif was the big bad wolf stalking his prey an he was famished. He'd been torturing himself with thoughts of what he wanted from the man in front of him. While he should probably appreciate the fact nothing gets passed his team they were being quite tedious when it came to busting his chops over his late night escapades. Yeah he should have anticipated this call but he really didn't need the extra pressure to come up with the payment for their botched operation. Dan wish he could throw off the shackles his dear old father slapped on him when he retired considering his totally disregard for his older sister for the lack of a certain appendage. Nothing ever escaped the realm of possibilites especially when someone was shooting at him; this was supposed to be an exclusive opportunity. Now Dan this was the moment he'd been anticipating for days just seeing him was enough because he'd never be reckless enough to try anything else. But? Apparently the vultures smelled the weakness and blood beause they were circling his target. While Dan was dealing with a different kind of predators his CFO was the biggest one of them all and he was quite certain would stab him in the back if he ever got the chance. Grif wasn't shocked by the latest reports he'd always had a feel for people and he'd peg him as a pretty good guy surrounded by corruption. No, Dan wasn't about to turn himself into an ostrich no matter however much he'd wish to bury his head in the sand. Yet Grif was a big man he could and would figure out how to make this operation still work. He'd never once thought he'd actually be offering someone a glimpse of himself quite like this but sometimes you have to give a little to get a little more. Dan hated to be the bearer of tough news but at least he found out before hand even if it changed there timeline. Grif had high hopes tonight would be better then the last time however it seems that wasn't going to be the case. Dan couldn't help but hem-haw over his next move until he finally made a choice. Then he prayed he got it right.

This is a new author for me and I admit it took me a chapter to get into it but then we were off and I was swept along for the ride. This book is the story of Grif and Danilo. Grif is a modern-day Robin Hood who falls for his mark and Danilo is equally smitten despite the trials of taking over his family Business and hiding the fact that he is gay from his senior staff and his parents. As they discover how important they are to each other, despite all the obstacles, they make a hot, sexy and very likeable couple. To be together though, Grif has to deal with his superstitions to help Danilo, and Danilo has to confront his constant fear of losing his family if he publicly comes out as gay. As well as these two men there are some wonderful supporting characters - Scarlett, Alanna, Tucker and John who feature in the book as Grif’s teammates and, Leo, Danilo’s friend - who are an integral part of the story and hopefully each will get their own book. The story was gritty and fast-paced and while there is some violence it was not too over the top. I really enjoyed this story and it kept me enthralled to the finish. My only small issue with the book was that after Danilo repeatedly voiced his fears of losing his family this was dealt with more superficially than I had hoped, and I would have liked a more expanded version of that part of the story. All in all it was a great read and I recommend it to anyone who likes some action (both in and outside the bedroom) with their hot men and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received an ARC copy of this story and this is my honest opinion.
That old adage you can't help you you fall for is certainly in play in Midnight Heist. This book gives us what happens when a career thief falls for his prey - and vice versa.
McIntyre is a new to me author, but I was happy to dive in when I read the blurb for this book as I love a good romantic suspense story. I'm glad to say I am not disappointed. Grid and Danilo's meeting may have put them on shaky ground, but their chemistry is undeniable and they way in which they work through the issue is well handled, so their budding relationship definitely has a feel-good factor.
I really like the writing style: 3rd person dual POV just works for me for this genre of work. It keeps the pacing of the key elements (whether that's the romance or the action) on track. Characterisation is on point, too. The inner battle of 'I shouldn't be doing this with him' felt by both MCs is just right for me, as is their level of self-awareness. The cast of side characters, i.e. Dan's best friend, his sister and the rest of the Outlaws. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them in future books.
Overall, if you're a fan of Robin Hood, romantic suspense and action, Midnight Heist should definitely go on your TBR list. Outlaws book 2 is definitely on mine. 4.5*
An ARC was provided by GRR. This is my honest review.
What do you do when your mark manages to break through all your defences?
Outlaw founder, Griff, brought his merry band of outlaws together to make white-collar criminals pay for their crimes, and hopefully, help some of the victims along the way.
Their latest investigation has Dan and his company in their sights. But there’s one major flaw to the plan. The chemistry between Grif and Dan is combustible, and somehow they find their walls dropping quickly. When things come to a head, they must decide if they can trust their instincts and work together or if they will destroy each other.
This was a lot of fun. Fast-paced and sexy. Looking forward to seeing more of this smart and lively found family.
I'm a bit late to the Outlaws party and decided to read it before diving into Twilight Heist, and I'm so glad that I did. McIntyre built an amazing world with her Outlaws. I absolutely loved every single one of them and the mission had me on the edge of my seat.
Grif and Dan were amazing. They met under false pretenses, because Grif was on the make with his Outlaws. He just didn't expect for the CEO of Torres Industries to be the amazing person that he was. The first part of the book had them getting to know one another with Grif using a fake name. I was on tenterhooks, waiting to see how that house of cards fell and I loved the way it did. It felt right, not too easy, all the while not making any character incompetant in the process.
I loved all of the side characters. I will admit, I want to know more about Alanna (and also Vanessa... I want to see her some more.)
I've already got book two queued up to read, and I'm beyond ready to dive back into this world.
I really enjoyed this new to meet Author, the writing style makes this an easy read, with some humour and great chemistry between the main characters both in and out of the bedroom. I love a bad boy who finds his person story, so Grif ticked all my boxes, the fact Danilo isn’t a complete pushover really enhances the story for me. I look forward to more not only from this author but also from this series.
This is a new-to-me author, and I found I really enjoyed the writing style. It is a solid romantic suspense book with a good dose of lighthearted humour and fun. Grif and Dan are extremely likeable characters, and there is a nice amount of depth to each in order to ensure their chemistry feels genuine and well-developed. The action is not overshadowed or overwhelming, but rather, is cleverly utilised to bolster Grif and Dan's attraction. A terrific start to this new series!
Can I give more than 5 out of 5? Because Midnight Heist certainly deserves it. This is the first book in the Outlaws series, and I was hooked from the beginning. Not only is Griff a hot and dangerous teddy bear, but his perfect man is Dan. The attraction between these two nearly shorted out my Kindle, it was that hot! Add in dodgy business dealings, threats to lives, and you've got a book you will not want to put down.
I loved the supporting cast of Outlaws, and I really can't wait to see who comes next. The names are sheer perfection, and I couldn't help but smile each and every time!
The suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat, and you will sympathise with the characters and what they go through. The build-up to being in the building wore me out. I felt like I had been running the streets instead of Tuck and Dan!
The ending was perfect for this story, whilst definitely leaving me wanting more. A fast-paced, hot, and suspenseful story that I have no hesitation in recommending. Absolutely stellar!

Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books! Mar 1, 2021
There’s a saying that everyone hates hearing: It’s not you, it’s me (insert collective groans). This time, I really think it was. I just couldn’t get into this story. Books are so subjective, so take my opinion with a massive grain of salt.
The characters are likable and have depth to them. The writing was consistent throughout the book. The storyline was decent and believable. The connection between Dan and Grif was obvious, and they made a good couple.
There wasn’t any one thing I can pinpoint why this book didn’t excite me, but I can say I didn’t hate it. I was able to read it, which says something because I’ve DNF’d books for far less. Given these factors, I would highly encourage you to try this book out. You may not share my experience.

Grif Blackmore is the leader of the not-so-ragtag band of Robin Hood-esque Outlaws. Made up of con men, a world-famous hacker, and several former circus performers, the group targets corrupt, criminal companies, and steals from them, ruining them and leaving no trace of how it happened. After ensuring the victims of the corruption are paid back, they live off what is left over.
Torres Industries is one of the most corrupt businesses in Chicago, and Grif and the others are looking forward to bringing them down. But no one realizes that when the CEO retired and his son took over the company, that the son had no idea what was going on. But Danilo Torres is smart enough to know something doesn't smell right inside his family's business. So he starts digging, essentially looking for the same information The Outlaws are looking for. Dan wants the info to excise the rotten parts of his company, while The Outlaws are looking for blackmail material.
The attraction between Grif and Dan is instant and STRONG. Grif is a hardened criminal, hell-bent on avenging the deaths of his parents by their own corrupt company by bringing down other corrupt businesses. Dan is somewhat innocent. A mechanical engineer by trade, he never had any intention or desire to take over Torres Industries, but his father forced him to do so, by threatening to cut him off from their whole family, something Dan couldn't live with.
As both men dig deeper into the dirt at Torres, the chemistry between Grif and Dan grows into something neither one of them can imagine living without. Grif had never dreamed he could love anyone, ever, but Dan unlocks something in him, and once that happens, Grif knows he can't let Dan go.
I found Midnight Heist a little bit hard to get into. I couldn't really connect with either Grif or Dan at first, but both men grew on me as we got to know them, and by the end I was really looking forward to the next book in the series. The other Outlaws are fascinating characters, there should be some great stories there. If you're looking for a little excitement to add into your TBR, definitely pick up Midnight Heist!
I love Grif. He may be a thief but he is a thief with morals and a cause. His reasoning for why he does what he does is a good one. His group of team members are great as well. But for me Grif took the cake. Even over Danilo and that boy was awesome. I liked Grif because he was with a cause and he was trying to help even if what he did was illegal. He was there for those around him and he protected them as well. They were his family. He owned what he did and made no excuses. I loved watching him fall for Danilo but also help Danilo see beyond things and stood by him when he needed support.
Danilo was a great guy. He was in a rock and a hard place. His dad left a mess for him and he wanted the company to be run differently. He had principles and beliefs and those are what he wanted for the company as well. He also was not one that wanted the position he was in. He believed his sister should be in charge. His approach to business was refreshing and one that put fear in his company head people leftover from his dad’s time.
The attraction between Danilo and Grif was through the roof and steamed the kindle. I loved that about them but also how Grif grappled with it because of what he was doing. Danilo made Grif want to be honest with him. Grif wasn’t sure at first if Danilo was dirty in the company as well but when he found out the truth the tides changed for sure. I love how Danilo wanted to actively change his company and how he began to see beyond the company thanks to Grif.
The story was fun and dangerous. Filled with intrigue and sexy moments. A story on finding your way, being there for someone no matter what and family. About loss and hope and love. A great robin hood tale that really gets you smiling and keeps you on your toes.
Katherine McIntyre is a new-to-me author but this book is right up my alley in terms of tropes. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Midnight Heist and wouldn’t hesitate to read more within the series and by the author. The writing style was smooth but fast-paced and action-packed, with a great attention to detail that kept me invested from beginning to end.
The story propelling the suspense plot and heist was fantastic. I loved the idea of the Outlaws, enjoyed the set-up to their interaction with Torres Industries, and was all in from the first chapter. The variety of characters within the story, particularly on the Outlaws team, was great and left me excited to read more about them in the future. The action sequences in Midnight Heist were on point as well, and I found myself staying up late multiple evenings to see what would happen next. The fast pace of the book is tempered with interesting, complex characters and great details surrounding the team’s plans and activity, combining to deliver a story that is sure to satisfy those looking for some great action and suspense.
I’ve found romantic suspense books can be tricky in general because it seems difficult to keep things exciting on both layers of the story, but Midnight Heist accomplished that fairly well. I did find the fast pace of the story bled into the romance between Grif and Dan. I loved their chemistry up front, but things moved forward surprisingly quickly given their histories and the circumstances the characters found themselves in. I would definitely have enjoyed a little more development in their relationship, but still very much liked Grif and Dan together. All that said, I can’t imagine many fans of this trope being disappointed in this couple or story in the least. I know I’m certainly looking forward to reading what the future holds for the Outlaws.
*** Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie for my reading pleasure, a review wasn't a requirement. ***
Overall, this was a quick, enjoyable read. The writing style is fun and lighthearted, and the characters were all unique and well-defined, which is one of my favorite things. Outlaw hacker Scarlet deserves their own book soon and their story will make me come back to this series.
The heist itself is gripping - a good heist book has an actual heist that is so enthralling, you can’t put it down, and this one was close to that for me. My heart wasn’t racing but I stayed up late to finish.
As for the romance - Grif and Dan’s chemistry is off the charts, and I loved how the author continued to have them figuring it all out - like real dating, no less! - even as the heist plan continues. However, it’s where the romance and the caper need to intersect that the book didn’t work for me. The burgeoning romance leads to Grif making some major newbie mistakes , and his team lets those mistakes go entirely too much. I felt Grif needed his team to hit him upside his head quite a bit more than they do, and that kept me from total book-immersion. And that immersion level is what makes a caper romance work for me.
I received a free copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews. This is my honest review.
Grif Blackmore leads a team of thieves dubbed, The Outlaws, who target and take down corporations. Stealing from the rich and net fabulous paydays in the process. What should have been a typical job, was anything but. In the wake of its failure, they are now indebted to some very dangerous people, the mafia. The next job must not fail. No pressure, right?
Danilo Torres is the CEO of Torres Industries, the family company his father built. Completely unaware of being a target of theft and the company's corruption, he is a the latest mark of The Outlaws. Attracting the eye of the leader, things begin to go in an unexpected direction.
So manny layers of surprises await these two. Danilo is not as blissfully unaware as he appears on the surface. Both he and Grif, are working to bring down the company. Each are surprised to find out what the other is doing. Through the laughs, action, steam, romance and whole lot of chemistry, Danilo and Grif will keep you entertained from the first page to the last.
Is this the one heist that can take down both men or can Grif pull off the theft and keep the man he's unexpectedly fallen for?
Modern day Robin Hood and the CEO
**I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.**
Dan didn't need to be told Grif was rare - he'd spent years searching for a fraction of the spark he felt around the man.
Eeeeee!! This book was so much fun! I've loved delving into books recently that still focus on the romance, but also have another plotline to follow.
In the case of Midnight Heist, we've got a bit of a modern-day Robin Hood, decimating companies and the people behind them who are stealing money from their workers or taxpayers for their own gain - all under the table. Grif and his Outlaws work to put these douchebags back in their place and return the money either to whom it came, or a deserving cause. ENTER DAN! This beaut of a character didn't want to be thrust into the CEO position, but now that he's here, he's working to find out who the hell has been laundering funds from the company with the help of his sister, and hacker best friend, Leo.
The romance? Beautiful. The smut? Hot. The action? Amazing. The heist? Phenomenal.
I couldn't put this book down, and I was on the edge of my seat until the conclusion just waiting to see how it would all play out. I would 100% recommend picking this book up if you're in the mood for something revolving around heists, mafia, hot romance and stronger bonds.
This book rocked my world it’s such a exhilarating story a story that has many depths . This is the first time reading Ms McIntyre books , I am now thoroughly invested in this series . The connection between Grif and Dan Torres inside the bedroom is electric as soon as skin touched they buzzed .. Outside the bedroom they meshed as one . To read how their feelings grew into so much more kept me riveted I couldn’t put this book down. The heist was superbly written I was hanging onto every word crossing fingers and toes that the outcome was advantageous. The humour, the snark, the banter, couldn’t get any better for me . The Outlaw team — a mixed bunch of individuals that work together, thinking as one body, making the corporate world hopefully a better place. How Dan and Leo fitted in is wonderful making a formidable team. Making no apologies for their actions The Outlaws will continue their fight with me reading every word. I have to get back to the connection between Grif and Dan — it is written so exceeding well I adored every word - their sexual attraction is 100% perfection. I totally loved this book the first in the series .
Grif Blackmore and Danilo Torres meet, when Grif head of Outlaws target Torres industries to pay a debt to the mafia. Grif and Danilo work together to bring down the corruption in the company when they both realise what the other is up to. Whilst there is insta chemistry, there is no insta love, so looking forward to the next book to see where they are up too.
The action scene and the way there are several parties all after the same thing, bring together well written scenes. The supporting characters brought together another element and I enjoyed how different they all were, how they were written and how they added value not only to the story but to the main characters.
Additionally, I liked the way the POV changed between Grif and Dan. I also loved the relationship between a Grif and Dan and how they complimented each other. My only gripe was I wish some parts were fleshed out more rather then parts being skimmed over or conversations referred to rather than witnessed. Overall a great story that I look forward to the follow up.
This was one fast-paced, action-packed book! I loved the Robin Hood trope in the contemporary romantic suspense setting.
Grif Blackmore and his merry team of Outlaws take down evil corporations and help persons in need. Their latest endeavor is bringing down Torres Industries, but when Grif meets Danilo Torres, the new CEO, he can't help but be drawn to the man. Dan may be new to Torres Industries, but he soon discovers not all is how it appears.
I really liked Grif and Dan, their chemistry was instant and all-encompassing and I really loved seeing them together. They worked well together, both in and out of the bedroom, and I loved how well Dan fit in Grif's life.
This is the first book in the Outlaws series and I can't wait to see what else Ms. McIntyre has in store for us. I'll definitely be on the lookout for more. Recommendable!
