It's Spring, and Oliver Cole is still finding his feet as a recently promoted Detective Sergeant. But that’s not the most important thing on his mind right now, it’s making sure he’s on time for the wedding of his friend and colleague, Debbie Swan. But one important person does not make the wedding. Called away when a body is discovered in Seaton Delaval, a small village 10 miles north of Newcastle, DCI Jack Collier must start the investigation without Oliver by his side. Oliver eventually joins him, and the investigation starts into the murder of Paul Tate, a seemingly innocent nobody, shot twice in the chest outside a block pf flats. But as their investigation begins, pathologist Dr Gordon Crosby makes a startling discovery that takes the team back to look into a 20 year old case. Oliver is given the task of interviewing one of the prime suspects and is shocked that the suspect claims that a ghost is responsible for the murder. Their hunt for the killer takes them to Scotland, Ireland, and the South of England before the truth is finally revealed. And when Debbie returns from honeymoon in time to help with the final day of the hunt, Cupid pays a visit to the most unlikely of candidates.
