As a mobster’s wife, Sylvie’s only job was looking stunning and sexy. Her other skills are mostly shopping, maxing out credit cards, and pissing off people. She owes money to the mob and the bank is repossessing her house. Employment seems unavoidable. Her first job, at a winery requires a steep learning curve that challenges her people skills. When her past resurfaces, the last surviving son of a clan matriarch arrives to stop her from testifying against his mother. Sylvie is changing. Will anyone get through this ordeal alive? Get this page-turner to watch Sylvie create chaos. Mob Sisters put the fun back in dysfunctional!
I loved this amusing story. Sylvie and Gabriella are back and tickling our funny bones. Sylvie is mistakenly taken for an auditor at Dale's winery. She steps in and changes everything while avoiding murderers and guns. I highly recommend this laugh out loud comedy of errors. I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest review.
Another fun ride with the sisters! This book is mainly focused on Sybil but all the family plays a part. You can't help but be sucked into Sybil's personality. We all have a "friend" like her. The killer is not obvious in this story, you think you have it and then someone peaks as the your biggest suspect. This is a book that could be read on it's own but definitely better if you read the others to better understand the sisters. I was given an ARC and voluntarily wrote this review.
Mob Sisters: Murder, Mystery and the mob (Laugh Until You Die book 3)
They're back! Yes, the mob sisters Maria/Gabriella and Sylvie are back in action and you won't believe what happens this time! The story revolves around Sylvie this time as she tries to turn her life around from having a dead husband, a son in prison and a daughter who tried committing suicide, hates her and has put Sylvie $100,000 in debt to get her into rehab, having no home because the bank is foreclosing, no job and no skills unless you count what she learned by being a mob wife. She is currently camped out with her sister in the backwoods of Australia, in her new brother-in-law's study. But Maria, now known as Gabriella, has just gotten married and she is devoting herself to getting Sylvie to the altar as well. She has arranged for Sylvie to take a job from her husband Andrew's good friend, Dale Pedrick. Dale has just inherited a winery from his father, a winery he didn't want and one that his brother James wanted very badly. The winery is in big financial trouble and Maria has volunteered Sylvie to help find out why a good winery is about to go out of business. Of course, Sylvie doesn't have the vaguest idea of how to go about this but she is willing to try if it means she can stay out of Sydney where a mob family wants to kill her because she witnessed a couple of murders they committed, and takes her out of her sister's home where she feels like a third wheel. She will have a home near the winery and some time to get straight with the other problems in her life. But the only thing Sylvie knows about wine is that she always picks the one with the highest alcohol content!
She arrives at the winery ready to do her best but is immediately taken for the accountant that Dale arranged to come in to look over the books. She decides to go with the flow but soon finds out that this job may be as dangerous as her real life when she finds out that the accountant was killed on the way to the winery!
And the action keeps on going! But she is feeling very close to Dale and has no idea if he feels the same way about her. He certainly doesn't show it but he has been divorced for several years and bringing up his teen daughter and hasn't been romantic in forever.
This book doesn't disappoint if you are familiar with the books that came before. There is laughter, danger and a lot of action, sometimes hilarious action! I urge you to read the entire series so that you can meet all of the lovable, quirky characters that are involved and definitely don't miss Mob Sisters. Enjoy!
Fantastic fun ride! This mystery story was packed with crime, drama and laughs. I loved Sylvie and the way she handles people now she's no longer in the mob. She's management material, better at giving jobs to others than doing the work. She's finding her feet and trying to be a better person. The love interest is nicely done. Kept me up reading to the finish. Didn't guess who the villain was. Can't wait to hear what happens to the mob sisters next. Keep em coming Victoria.
Mob Sisters is another hilarious episode in the Laugh Until You Die series by Victoria Kosky. When Sylvie attends her sister’s wedding she is pretty much out of options: husband dead, deep in debt, no home, no education, children in jail and rehab, and mobsters want to keep her from testifying. She takes a job at Pedrick Wines to tide her over, not understanding anything about wine except drinking it. When the staff mistakes her for the auditor sent to evaluate the failing business, she finds that she likes the respect they show her, and her people skills can actually get things done. She organizes a company event, pulls the staff together, and finds ways to collect on some of the debts. But bodies start piling up and a murderer is on the loose. It also becomes clear that an insider is orchestrating wine thefts draining millions from the company. Sylvie has feelings for Dale, but does he like her back? Can she save the company from liquidation? Will the mobsters find her out here in the sticks? All becomes clear through a convoluted and deadly romp that will keep you laughing until the end.
The third in the series and in my opinion the best yet, Victoria just gets better and better. If you enjoy a thrilling storyline or a storyline that contains humour, then this is the book for you. It has both these attributes in abundance. The characterisation of everyone in the book is nothing short of remarkable. The book can be read as a standalone novel but I would highly recommend it is preceded by the first two in the series, they will give an in-depth understanding of the main protagonists, the sisters. I can only hope that this is not the end of the series, I'm sure there must be many more scrapes and adventures these two can be involved in. More power to your own Ms Kosky, keep them coming.
Entertaining and amusing look at the mob. All the action takes place in and around a winery. Some interesting details of wine making are presented. Also chicanery and skullduggery. Past issues have set current problems in motion. Some sweet moments, a few harrowing ones, and potential for happily ever after. Do be forewarned of foul language, but if it doesn't bother you or can overlook it, you will enjoy the story. This is not a cozy mystery. Thanks to the author for providing a copy for my voluntary review.
I enjoyed this book. It’s funny and interesting. I would give it 4 stars but I do think the foul language is a bit overdone. I understand that growing up in the mob leads to this in the book but feel the language is perhaps a bit more foul than it needs to be for the story. Other than that, the book is well written. Recommended if the foul language is not a concern for you. I received a free copy of this book from the author.
Mob Sisters: Murder Mystery and the Mob is the third book in the Laugh Until You Die series.
Although third in the series, this can be read as a standalone, but trust me, you don't want to deprive yourself of reading the whole series. There are terrific characters, humour galore, danger, death, and mystery. I loved this book and cannot wait for the next book in this entertaining series.
The first chapter tells of a murder! Then there is the marriage & naturally Sybil manages to cause a scene. All goes smoothly though, in the end. Sybil starts a job, undercover, but, gets mistaken for the auditor, so, she does the auditor’s job. Mystery after mystery, mishap or intended! Once I got into this book! I just had to continue until I finished it!
5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2020 I am really enjoying this series! This story was no exception. Sylvie is a hoot with a mouth. The characters are fun and the mystery was well written. So humorous that there were times I laughed out loud. I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
Book 3 of the Mob Sisters is a funny, laugh out loud read. I thought the first two books were great, but this was my favorite so far. Gabriella's sister, Sylvie, is the main character in this book, although Gabriella's wedding is also included. Sylvie is broke and owes money to the mob. She really needs a job. She meets her new Brother-in-law's friend, Dale at the wedding and he offers her a job on the line at Pedrick Wines, his newly inherited winery. Through a series of mix-ups, when she arrives at the winery they mistake her for the auditor they are expecting. Sylvie manages to fool them all and Dale decides to keep her there so she can spy on what he suspects is sabotage in the winery. The adventures that follow are hysterically funny and terrible at the same time. You will want to stay up all night to read the ending. *I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.*
I love this series! To me the language is fine, realistic! Interesting, complex, and quirky characters! A really fun read! A must read! I received an arc copy for my honest review and that is what i am giving it! This author will keep you turning the pages of this book.
I enjoyed reading this book very much. The characters were very interesting. I would never have guessed who the crooks were. I look forward to reading more of the books in the series.
