This story has suspense, and drama. I did feel that it could have flowed a little better. Grace and Nadia lost their chance to leave the prison, but they felt they needed to do something with what they found. Now their stuck in the prison and the people they work for has left them. What will they do? Can the two men that they befriended help them? Will they figure out away to get out and save the others?

This is book two of the Academy for Supernatural Felons series and sees Myst Mage agents and sisters Dahlia and Lily Bennett working undercover at Shadowridge Academy, a supposed reform school for Supernaturals. They were originally placed there to find out the whereabouts of two fellow Myst Mage agents who had missed their last check-in. It seems students are disappearing in the middle of the night, never to be seen again. The girls, going by the names Nadia and Grace, managed to find the missing agents in the first book of the series, but didn’t leave with them as ordered, because of what they found hidden below the grounds of the school. Now, they have found out from their liaison, dark fae and doctor, Kai, that they have been disavowed by their captain Elias, something they had never heard of happening to any other agents, but given through two simple words they all learnt during their training days and hoped never to hear! Now they need to try and get in touch with Carina, a lawyer and former contact with the Myst mage’s, without any outside communication being allowed for the prisoners.

Kai is also Grace’s fated mate, but now she has also found the same bond with one of the guards Oliver, a full vampire. Considering their own real mother was in a multiple partner relationship, means it isn’t very unusual a thought to them, but might be for their partners. Nadia met her bonded mate Jason, in a job they did at another prison and he is due out in about eight months. A new arrival called Ford arrives with another couple of guys, and Nadia finds herself immediately drawn to him, to the exclusion of everything else going on around her. Ford knows Jason and was a good friend of his, so when Jason heard he was being sent here, he asked Ford to look out for her and protect her. But now, it seems like Nadia may also have a second bonded partner in Ford, not that she can really do much about it right now. The girls need to plan their escape and try to free the people being kept prisoner underground, having who knows what done to them!

They were supposed to have gone in and got out with the other agents, a simple and straight forward job, but their choice to remain behind, to try and get a plan together to save all the other innocent missing students, could very well lead to their own deaths. They need to be really careful in what they plan and try not to get caught out or thrown in isolation. If caught doing something they shouldn’t, one of the punishments is even more hard-core dampening of their magical powers. Luckily, no one in charge realises that both girls have dual powers. One is more vampire than witch and the other is more witch than vampire, so they can pass as opposite types of supernaturals and this allows one of them access to their magic as a witch still, past the dampening wrist bracelets they all have to wear.

They need the aid of a particular fellow student, for their unique skills, but this student has hidden what she truly is for her whole life, as her kind are normally killed or chucked into the worst sort of prison for life, never to see the light of day. This means the girls are including more people into their circle of trust, but each is necessary to their plans, or someone they can’t bear to leave behind. They get the unexpected inclusion of Ford, on their initial plan which it seems someone found out about, and more shocking surprises hidden in labs below ground. When their plan backfires somewhat, they need to go back and pretend to know nothing, whilst hoping to get their captain to come up with more assistance, before it’s too late. Their freedom and the lives of all those being held against their wills below ground, as well as the shocking latest they found, could all come to nothing as it seems one of them has drawn the wrong kind of attention and is now about to disappear! A cliffhanger ending, leaving me desperate to read the next book in the series and see what happens to the sisters and all the others. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Having read both maximum Security Magic and Maximum Security Curse, I really want to know what the facility is up to but, I don't think I would read the third book in the series.

The back and forth point of view between the sisters was at time repetitive and didn't add much to the slow and plodding story. For agents who have been doing this kind of work since the age of 16, the girls seemed to be inept and not really focused on the job; but more on the men and their relationships. They have no real plan of attack and it doesn't seem as if they accomplish much. You learn that they are half vampire and half witch but you don't see much of their skills or get to know much more about them than that. There are a lot of loose ends and allusions to people and incidents throughout both books that I hope will be addressed and tied together in the third. Sadly, I don't feel that there was enough in this book to have warranted a need for it. I feel as though we could have gone straight to the next book from the first.

Our heroines were undercover, but things have grown a bit beyond their original scope. Now they are going to need to find new allies to handle this case.

This is book two of the series. It works okay as a standalone, but it might be better to start from the beginning so you get all of the background.

This is an urban fantasy story that manages to combine two challenging settings, prison and an academy, by using a reform school. This means we have even more challenging personalities to deal with. The story is well written and makes maximum use of both the setting and the characters. Our heroines still have their hands full and the plot continues to move at a fast pace plot with plenty of mystery, twists and turns. I found the story to be highly enjoyable and am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.

Highly recommended.

This book has an interesting premise but the switching points of view is a bit distracting and I would love to see further character development regarding their powers the sisters are half witch and vampire so there is definitely room for some badassery to develop. Also the sisters need more confidence in their skill sets they have been agents forever so they should be very good at what they do with this the accessional challenge or powerful baddy.

There are plenty of hooks for the next book so I hope to see more development as the series moves forward the series has potential.

I received this book from Booksprout for an honest review.

The two sisters are still in Shadowbridge Academy for Supernatural Felons, but by choice this time. They managed to get the people out that they had wanted to, but had found so many more girls below ground, in beds with drips attached to them and they were not going to leave that place until every last person was free.
Everything was going well for their plan to leave, with Myst Mages their undercover agency waiting for them with a bus to ferry all those they had saved, then their worst nightmare occurred...............

We rejoin Grace and Nadia during their search in a school with secrets. The company they work for has cut their losses and now acts as if they don't have agents undercover in a school/prison full of mysterious things going on. Now they have to find a way out. It's a good story that is fun to read and the characters captivate you. I would recommend this book if you are looking for a fun fast paced read

Maximum Security Curse is the second book in the Academy for Supernatural Felons series and continues Lily (Nadia) and Dahlia (Grace)'s story. A simple mission to find out about missing inmates gets complicated when the sisters end up stuck in the prison. There's a lot going on in book two making it an interesting read. I look forward to reading the rest of the series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
