Blood Descent #2

Cursed by Blood

Rate this book
DO YOU BELIEVE I WOULD OFFER MY LOVE ONCE AND THEN NO MORE?

Ilianna Drakara almost had everything—the ardent Prince Castiel of Anolyn, and a country willing to accept her as their own—until both were ripped from her. In a labyrinthine castle as twisted as the very bloodline she hails from, Ilianna confronts the reappearance of her father and the truth of her lineage, all within a kingdom she despises. Her own.

Centuries of tyranny have left Eira tattered. Ilianna works tirelessly with her citizens to rebuild, her companion, a notorious assassin masquerading as her lady’s maid. Meanwhile, Ilianna’s father, King Toma Drakara disregards her, immersing into the troubles of a torn monarchy rather than confronting the true threat that looms.

Two possessing spirits threaten Ilianna’s existence: Elyn, the Demon Daughter, that roots restless in the depths of her soul, and her mother, the Wraith Queen who birthed her as the next vessel to conquer both Eira and Anolyn. Ilianna must harness her own strength that hides within or fall victim to a dark magic unaccustomed to failure.

Oh no.

I'm sorry, truly, but this book is a hot mess. First of all, too much bizarre violence. The plot was very hard to follow. There were no believable relationships between characters, even with acknowledging the fantasy genre. I think there's a story in there somewhere, but it it was too much work to find it. The grammatical errors didn't help either.

I love it. My new favorite series.

Listen Rachel, if you kill Illianna in the next book I will haunt you like the Wraith Queen. That said, thank you for another book and series I will never get over. I cannot wait for the next one.

I loved the new characters, the new creatures, the new lore. It was so much fun to read. I am very upset to be done so soon. Like I said in my review of the first book, this is my favorite since the hunger games. But now I think I like it more than the hunger games. It's different but more captivating. If this goes beyond a trilogy I would be thrilled, but it feels like it's going to end in the next book.

While this series doesn't feel slowly paced, the majority of the book only plays out over a week or two. Maybe less. But it was very well done and kept my attention greedily.

Love, love, love it.

I really struggled to finish these books. After persevering through book 1, I skim read book 2 to find out how the story ended. The premise of the story was good but the plot was hard to follow. The plot and the characters just seemed to randomly jump around as if they all had ADHD. Trying to understand the characters motivations for continually changing their minds or their courses of action was really hard work as there was explanation for their flip flopping in the story. I am still trying to work out what was what in these books so with the writing of this review, I am going to stop thinking about them and move on.

While I enjoyed the first, I didn’t love the sequel as much. Mostly this was due to the fact that I read this on and off for over a year, so I was constantly thrown into the story and having to gain my bearings of what was happening. For this reason, I don’t feel that my review would be fair. I need to reread the first again and immediately read this one before giving an opinion.

More, please!

These two books were very entertaining. The characters were fleshed out really well; knowable and noble(LOL). The world Rachel created was realistic, tight, and easy to navigate.

I look forward to more!

I loved it

It was a great book. Hate not knowing when the 3rd book will be out though! There is a lot going on in this book to keep your mind reeling. I couldn’t get enough of it!

I liked it, but honestly, the plot was all over the place. I had a hard time understanding most of it with how scattered it was, and even the ending made little sense. Though I must say, I definitely adored Prince Castiel. JCNSNXNSNXNS

From the very beginning, Rachel keeps you hooked. The story isn’t over and I want more. I can’t wait to read the next book.

Good plot , good story line , a little to much romance for my taste. Over all this was a well told story , worth the time I spent on it.
Good craftsmanship.
