My writing covers a wide range, with fiction being my favorite to create, with two dozen or so titles under my belt. There are 21 titles in my YA interactive Try Not to Die series and 30 more in the works. I also have two nonfiction titles, both inspired by a reckless lifestyle, playing Ivy League football, and battering the hell out of my brain as an unsuccessful MMA fighter and boxer. Unlocking the Cage is the largest sociological study of MMA fighters to date and TBI or CTE aims to spread awareness and hope to others that suffer with traumatic brain injury symptoms.
I live in sunny California with my wife, two kids, five cats, and one demon. Derek. He makes special appearance on my social media

This was a creepy compilation of short stories and I liked all of them. Some are more gruesome than others and some run along the lines of the paranormal. It is a great short read for the spook month of October and I wanted more. This book was given to me by the author for an honest review and I would have given it five stars if the narration was better. It starts out very monotone so I just sped it up to 1.25 and then it was fine and had good cadence for these dark stories.
I received a free audiobook copy of this book for an honest review. I said a little bit about this book in my updates and this is probably going to need spell check but I'll come back for that later. These stories are 100% worth the read. This is an author with a talent for words and a strong imagination. Some of the stories get to be a bit disturbing, but then isn't good writing any writing that makes you feel something? I may have overlooked some but here's a break down of stories
The artist : Everything this artist paints goes bad. Why does she even bother going on and on with it? This story had me thinking for a long time afterwards because it has deeper meaning beneath it. 5 stars split decision- Two men , one body. One wants to kill the other for his freedom. This story is dark and twisted and had me hanging on every word. 5 stars
lethal injection- I saw the twist coming but I still thought it was great. Revenge is a dish best served cold! 5 stars
No ones here- creepy, fun word play with "no one" 4 stars. The disturbing content was too much for me but I have to respect good writing when I see it. To catch a killer- the policewoman pretending to be a hooker to catch a killer. The shared extra strong sense of smell was a nice touch.5 stars
Hit the lights- I knew what was coming but it was still pretty good. The ending reminded me of a scene from "It" 3 stars
Last embrace- meh. I just wasnt drawn in by this one as much as by others 3 stars
When it rains- this was a cool story but I was never quite sure what the monsters were supposed to look like so it was harder to keep a good picture in my head. Were they like... blobs like swamp thing or what?
Changed man- 5 stars. I loved the narrator on this one! Can I find her anywhere else on audible?
every precious second- be careful what you wish for!
This is a great read for October in celebration of Halloween. Mark Tullius's words paint a crisp picture, and the story lines are strong, interesting, and fast paced.
I sure hope there are more short stories to read by this author! After reading these I am hungry for more.
Disclosure: I received this audio book for free from the author in exchange for a review.
I really liked each story in the book; many times, I only like a few in a short story collection, but I really enjoyed each one of the individual stories. They were well written, and while they were chilling and perfect for the Halloween season, they were all unique. I did not ever feel that they were the same story with just different characters as is often the case.
The only issue I had was with the audio production. There were sound effects, and while a few may have enhanced the listening experience, often they distracted from the story and overpowered the narration. The stories in this book are good enough to stand on their own without the added sound effects. The author narrated the majority of this book, and I'm generally not a fan of that. This would have benefited from a different narrator, as the narration was slow and somewhat monotonous at times. That being said, the quality of the writing makes me gives this an excellent rating overall.
The stories were pretty good, but I was not crazy about the way the director had the narrators reading the stories. They all sounded pretty lethargic like they had had long days and didn't really feel like narrating right now. It had to be the direction because all three narrators sounded the same, and not one of them used individual voices for each character that was speaking during dialogue. They were all straight readings.
The stories were at best 3.5 stars. I rounded up to four because Audible doesn't allow for fractions of stars. I can't really put my finger on what I would do to improve the stories since I am not a writer. They were okay, but I am not driven to read or listen to more of Mark Tullius' stories.

My book disappeared after I listened to it the first time so I only got through 5 stories. The ones I did finish were creepy and a good Halloween read, so I was happy about that. I think I would have liked this better had I read instead of listened, though. One of the stories read by a female was fantastic, but I just had a hard time concentrating on listening to the rest.
*Edited to say - Mark, I know you were worried about your sound guy going "overboard" but it sounded great to me.*
All in all, definitely worth the time and especially in October. Thanks, Mark!!!
